Lil Wayne made his way back to ESPN’s ‘First Take’ to chop it up with Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless. During his time on air, Wayne speaks on the LeBron/Durant MVP race, the NBA All-Star Game (which is going down this weekend), the playoffs, the teacher in Tampa who was suspended after assigning his lyrics to students and more.

In other Wayne-related news, it’s being reported that he’s looking to release Tha Carter V as a surprise to his fans. According to Cash Money Records Vice President of Promotion Mel Smith, the LP is close to being released.

“We’re very close to dropping the album,” Smith told the Griffin. “It’s going to be a huge surprise to everyone, it’s an incredible album … I can’t release the date because he wants to surprise people, he wants his true fan base to get excited but he’s worked extremely hard on it and you won’t be disappointed.”

At first read, it seems like Wayne is swagger-jacking the very lady he threatened to kidnap on “It’s Good” but sources say the “surprise” will come when Lil Wayne reveals the release date. Which seems like a typical Twitter announcement, but who knows…

UPDATE: Surprise! Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter V now has an official release date. May 5th.
