After selling out the first three vinyl pressings of his The City Under the City LP with Stik Figa, producer L’Orange has signed a three album deal with Mello Music Group for 2014-15.

Prohibition era soul samples combine with lingering smoke in the air on L’Orange productions. Able to bring the crackle of vintage radio back in head nodding introspective journeys, L’Orange’s ability lies in making complex productions seamless, allowing listeners to slide into another world. L’Orange’s talent as a producer is his ability to develop full visions that create environments for artists and listeners alike. L’Orange is somewhere between early DJ Shadow, Madlib, Portishead, and Billie Holiday.

For the latest from L’Orange, check out “The Lost Nova” with Mr. Lif and John Robinson, which was featured on MMG’s Mandala Vol.1: Polysonic Flows compilation, below.

UPDATE: In light of what would’ve been J Dilla’s 40th birthday, L’Orange re-released his Still Spinning project.

No one has shaped my view of music more than James Yancey. He challenged our idea of music and pushed us towards a more progressive and creative appreciation of hip hop. This project is dedicated to the life and memory of the one and only J Dilla.
