Currently signed to Roc Nation management, DJ Mustard has now inked a solo artist deal with the label (joining J. Cole, Rihanna and Rita Ora). Sitting down with Life+Times for their Genesis series, the hit-making producer speaks on the new deal, calls himself the next Lil Jon and more.
Rising to fame within hip hop culture with his signature “ratchet” sound and phrase “Mustard On The Beat…,” the Los Angeles native has quickly become one of the most sought-after producers. With several hits making waves on Billboard and radio charts, Mustard has produced chart-topping hits for A-list rappers including 2 Chainz (“I’m Different”), Young Jeezy (“R.I.P.”) and Tyga (“Rack City”). “What I’m doing now is just trying to convert over and show people that I can do more than just club records…,” said DJ Mustard. “Just growing up and changing the outlook of what people think of me.”
