Raised between Southern California and Ghana, Moses Sumney is a young, self-taught musician that just blew me away with the above video. Pressing play after receiving a heads up from a trusted opinion, I sat in awe as the ?uestlove-championed musician pieced together a beautiful break-up song from scratch. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the one-man performance — shot in one-take by Brian “B+” Cross — was a great introduction. Also, if you’re in the Los Angeles area, I highly suggest you head to the Bootleg Theatre tomorrow night (Friday, Aug. 2) as Moses Sumney will finish his month-long residency opening up for the amazing Minneapolis trio KING.
