As my night began to lean more towards the side of relaxing (over working), I decided to give a few more submissions a listen. The first email I clicked on featured the above video from DC’s Rahiem Supreme. And upon watching the gripping 5-minute clip (which finds the young DMV’r confronting social and economical inequalities created by “secret societies within society” that favor hierarchical organizations), I was intrigued with his message and proceeded to press play on his recent Swag Genie EP with producer Craank. And while “Eyes Wide Shut” is the obvious stand-out, the project overall is worth the listen. Which is why i included it after the jump. Enjoy.
I want people to open a third eye to see how the system corrupts are minds with lies and confusion. If you’re put somewhere within the culture your raised, it’s embedded in your mind to adapt or even get brainwashed within your the surroundings. I feel like the system is designed to corrupt the mind. Therefore, I felt the need to express my thoughts and feelings through this song and video.
