Omen: The Road To Elephant Eyes, SXSW And Beyond (Video)

blame it on Shake January 23, 2013

In support of his upcoming album, Elephant Eyes, Omen has started an IndieGoGo project in hopes that his fans will help in documenting the process (everything from behind the scenes, in the studio, writing, recording, performing at SXSW, the ups and the downs, highs and lows). The video above is a breakdown of what’s going on and after the jump I’ve included a personal letter from the DreamVillain himself.

What’s happening? I’m happy you’re here. My name is Omen. I’m an artist and producer from Chicago. I’ve been making my name in the industry the past few years through multiple projects I’ve released. It’s been a great journey so far and I’ve experienced so many incredible moments such as touring in the U.S. and throughout Europe with J. Cole as well as Drake. My next great adventure has landed me at an upcoming show in Austin, TX for the SXSW festival. That is just one of the things I wish to capture for my current supporters as well as new fans that come along. So that leads me to why I’m writing this.

To make sure all these moments are captured, I am having a documentary filmed that is focused around the creation of my next project, Elephant Eyes.

Elephant Eyes is my most personal project. It’s a love story, not strictly romantic but more so in a universal context. Looking for love in your surroundings, the world, love of self. I will capture all moments of creation with this documentary. Everything from behind the scenes, in the studio, writing, recording, performing at SXSW, the ups and the downs, highs and lows.
I am truly thankful and humbled by the tremendous support I’ve received, those who have watched me grow as an artist and especially the fans. Every project I’ve done has been released for free. I truly believe this project will catapult me to the next level and so I am seeking support to help make this documentary happen. Your support will help me and Impakt Studio film and edit the documentary and produce an interactive performance at SXSW. In appreciation, I’ve created several rewards as my personal thank you for supporting me including unreleased songs, stickers, movie credits, t-shirts, and more.

See you soon. Peace and love. – O

Projects like these are really dope as it gives the fans a chance to be involved in the creation. I’m going for the $50 support sometime this week..
