After receiving a less than favorable review (5.2/10) from Pitchfork for Mandatory Brunch Meetings, Lauren sends some shots in the websites direction.

You get mad that a publication doesn’t like your project and diss them? Is he surrounded by yes-men? gtfoh homie. If you plan to be successful you’ll get bad reviews, it happens. being a bitch about it only makes people who haven’t listened to you (like me) continue to not listen to it.

If you read the review and listen to what he’s saying, you can’t really disagree with him. They completely missed the concept of the Kelly Kapowski track and dismissed it as a generic love song. They purport to be tastemaker and bastion of web music journalism, but put out shoddy half assed shit.

Pitchfork would ether him if they tweeted “and your music still sucks”

He’s mad because what they said is true. ML is a dry ass rapper and if he doesn’t do something to stand out he’s always gonna be forgettable, only good enough to be featured on his better skilled buddy Bronson’s crew songs. Don’t waste time writing songs about bad reviews, work harder and then give them a nice fuck you in half a bar or a quick skit.

If you didn’t listen to it or to him why comment at all? They obviously don’t like his style or they would have given the superior Respect the Fly Shit a higher rating as well. I liked how they compared his voice to a monotone style. How quickly we forget Guru and his ability to deliver hard lines without flinching. But have ML do it and its boring? Instead lets give high rating to chief keef, an idiotic adolosecent who simply yells punchlines at the audience behind the same beats every other trap star uses? Goodness forbid someone tries to do something different on a track like Kelly Kawposki.
