Kendrick Lamar – The Jig Is Up (Dump’n) (prod. J. Cole & Canei Finch)

I pray to God this beat is good enough for Shyne, if not J. Cole your shit is traaash/
But at least my opinion just made everybody laugh.

To celebrate his debut LP debuting at the number two spot this week selling 240,000 copies in its first week, K. Dot lets go of the J. Cole-produced “The Jig Is Up (Dump’n)” (which he also fires back at Shyne). Let’s get that much anticipated collaborative album now.

  2. Congrats to Kendrick. Well deserved. Dope track too!

  3. Damn, dude just put the song out 10 minutes ago. Just couldn’t wait to hop on his dick, huh?

  4. This dude is the next legend.

  5. also he sounds like or this track sounds like a pusha t joint, nice track tho

  6. Kendrick ripped it but that castlevania soundin beat was awful

  7. he went in brah for real

  8. Dope and no this should have not been on the album wth lol

  9. ^

  10. That’s just confidence that I’m hearing right now

  11. Yeah it wouldn’t have fit the album at all lol…i swear niggas.

  12. My nigga Kendrick.

    242k first week? FUCK YES.

  13. Dope cut, looking forward to that project form them

  14. most creative and playful jab towards shynes opinion shit was genius

  15. Dude is unstoppable right now. 240k these days would be an easy 3/4 milli if downloading music for free wasnt as easy as googling “download Kendrick Lamar GKMC.” Of course I bought on iTunes and it was $12 well worth it, but album sales are no where close to the number of people actually bumpin the album. Salute K Dot.

  16. ugghhh somebody tell this middle class, every new nintendo game havin, never meal missing coon to stop rapping about violence

  17. @thattruth In the words of Big L “You’re never shit, your mother should’ve swallowed you”.

  18. damn, dope. this beat is horrendous though

  19. ugghhh somebody tell this middle class, every new nintendo game havin, never meal missing coon to stop rapping about violence

that truth said this on October 30th, 2012 at 4:48 pm

    ^ thank, you.

  20. damn, this shit was clearly thrown together in the last few days and the shit still bangs harder than 99% of the garbage out there. salute to kendrick

  21. It couldnt t have been on the album.. there’s Shyne references in there so this sht is new lol..

  22. @Mike Tomlin, I dont think any rap album has ever sold 3/4 milli in a week (if thats what you meant), but it definitely would probably be around that mili mark without downloads. Either way 240k is some big numbers these days for sure. I hope the next album is fulla songs like this one.

  23. Words From Toronto #Gheez!

  24. @martymcfly yea I was exaggerating a little bit haha but you got my point. Im sure there are close to a million copies floating around right now they just werent all paid for. 240k is excellent these days.

Eminem, 50 Cent and Lil Wayne each sold a milli their first week but no one recently.

  25. so TDE is buying out all the copies at stores now too, ah?

  26. Damn this in just one day that should mean that their joint project should be dope considering the amount of time they’ve been working on it. This song is gonna be a good hype builder.

  27. @Cmon
    C’mon bruh. really?

  28. @ cmon

you know damn well aint no person walk into a store and buy that shit. all 240k came from the internet nerds counting down till that shit was up.

  29. dudes on another level…cant wait for the collab album…preordering that shit

  30. yeah not a big fan on the beat. im still a little suspect that cole produced “HiiPower”

  31. omg shyne sit down, ur done. lmfao

  32. @the realest
I bought three copies, alone. The deluxe CD, the original CD and the iTunes version. People were SPAZZING on Twitter about how good the album was. Almost every major rapper has given Kendrick a co-sign. You really think 240k is impossible? Especially when he sold 80k+ copies of Section.80, with no radio single, with no promo, with almost zero major features (this year alone, he’s done a joint with MMG, Kweli, Common, Big Sean, the I’m On remix, E-40, Meek Mill, Mac Miller, Dom Kennedy and last year he was on joint with Drake, Smoke DZA, Wiz, 9th Wonder, Game, XV), then he can push out 240k+ WITH radio singles (Swimming Pools + The Recipe), WITH marketing. Also, note that Schoolboy Q & Ab-Soul are blowing the fuck up, which added to TDE/Black Hippy’s momentum which in turn gave Kendrick even more momentum.

  33. @wusup I feel ya on that. He hasn’t produced anything remotely close to the caliber of beat that is since then. But I’ma wait to hear the joint album because maybe he saved his best beats for Kendrick. Sounds like a reach but also suspect.

  34. shyne said fuck k dot and called him emotional after hearing this track..dude is jus sad now..with being said im proud of kendrick & black hippy..10 years there gonna do a documentary on them niggas..BUT WHEN AB-SOUL DROP IS ALBUM NIGGAS BETTER BE READY, SOULO HO3

  35. Could be mistaken but Canei gets main credit and Cole gets the co.prod. credit it doesn’t really sound like a J Cole beat if you’re familiar with them but he could be changing it up like Ye did

  36. i dunno why the hell i read the comments on here anymore.

  37. I bought three copies, alone. The deluxe CD, the original CD and the iTunes

    ^ lmao inflation!

  38. The only mistake TDE can make now is dropping ScHoolboys album before Ab-Soul. Dont get me wrong Q rocks but new fans listening to Kendrick are expecting something closer to Soulo’s stlye than Q’s. They need to keep this momentum going with Souls project, have Q featured on a couple tracks, seeing he wasnt featured once on GKMC (sans bonus tracks), then drop Q’s. Just my opinion, but from a lyrical standpoint they need to drop Soulo first to expand the TDE fanbase.

  39. yo real talk this aint even that good compared to kendricks standards and yall know it.. still better than everything else coming out tho.
no hate, kendrick no doubt the best in the game, been sayin that since O.D. came out my sr. year..

  40. Thats a pretty good argument i dont think it matters what order tho we they all rock @Mike Tomlin

  41. @Mike Tomlin
Ab-Soul dropped a project in May. Q and Rock are next.

  42. Lyrically exceptional. Musically this song his horrible, J. Cole what were you thinking for this beat? wtf! and lol @ shyne

  43. @samie

I know and thats what Im afraid of… All of us are cool with that I just dont want to see Q’s crazy ass give Kendricks lyricism a bad name to new fans.

  44. This is a fuckaround track…but this beat IS trash.

And not one by TWO people get credit for it. LMAO.

Dunno why anyone fux with J.Cole cornball ass.

  45. I swear i shit my panties at the end where the guns go off. SHIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET

  46. j. cole its time to hang them boards up lmao trash is right

  47. bonteco bonteco bonteco bonteco bonteco bonteco AFCJONEFOUR AFCJONEFOUR AFCJONEFOUR AFCJONEFOUR AFCJONEFOUR AFCJONEFOURAFCJONEFOUR bonteco bonteco bonteco bonteco bonteco bonteco AFCJONEFOUR AFCJONEFOUR AFCJONEFOUR AFCJONEFOUR AFCJONEFOUR AFCJONEFOURAFCJONEFOUR bonteco bonteco bonteco bonteco bonteco bonteco AFCJONEFOUR AFCJONEFOUR AFCJONEFOUR AFCJONEFOUR AFCJONEFOUR AFCJONEFOURAFCJONEFOUR bonteco bonteco bonteco bonteco bonteco bonteco AFCJONEFOUR AFCJONEFOUR AFCJONEFOUR AFCJONEFOUR AFCJONEFOUR AFCJONEFOURAFCJONEFOUR bonteco bonteco bonteco bonteco bonteco bonteco AFCJONEFOUR AFCJONEFOUR AFCJONEFOUR AFCJONEFOUR AFCJONEFOUR AFCJONEFOURAFCJONEFOUR bonteco bonteco bonteco bonteco bonteco bonteco AFCJONEFOUR AFCJONEFOUR AFCJONEFOUR AFCJONEFOUR AFCJONEFOUR AFCJONEFOURAFCJONEFOUR

  48. this better than half the songs on good kid maad city

  49. a lot of j. cole beats are mediocre

  50. J.Cole Drums don’t be hitting on shit!! lol Dope record dope

  51. Since Kendrick blew up now everybody want to hate on J. Cole. If Cole name wasn’t on the credits yall would be like this shit is hot! SMDH but this is the only site that saying something negative about the song, but hey more power to you because that’s your opinion

  52. Beat sounds like a poorman’s Pusha-T joint!

  53. So if this nigga flopped yall would’ve been happy and been doggin him, if this nigga sold then that means TDE and Dr. Dre bought all the copies to inflate the sales scan, I swear people can’t win for shit nowadays lol

  54. LOL @ the realest and truth. K.Dot must of fucc’d they baby mama or something

  55. How does Kendrick Lamar have haters? For fuck sakes, some people have nothing better to do with their frowning ass lives…

First J. Cole was 2dopeboyz’s golden child, and then he got haters. Then Kendrick was, and some people still hate. He didn’t compromise his album at all. Didn’t sell out like Wiz Khalifa.

    FUCK THE REALEST, FOR REAL.

  56. You serious? The HiiiPower beat wasn’t even that good. Kendrick’s verses wers just that hot. J.Cole even said he didn’t want the beat. Kendrick is always going over these shitty ass beats and making it hot. Proof in all of his projects

  57. @Mike Tomlin

    Rock will be next.

  58. Beat is cool.. Everybody is just trying to be a critic

  59. “Real people want real music, the jig is up” YEEEUUUUUPP!!!

  60. he sounds like Rain on this joint

  61. Lol this website dickrides Kendrick too hard. I’ve never seen a post with so many fucking links that have to do with the situation. Nigga, you don’t need to put up the jab quote up for us to know. Let us listen and find it ourselves… smh. Makes it look like you’re fucking desperate to get the OMG SHIT JUST GOT REAL news out…

  62. No way you can hate on this guy. Makes dope music and does it his way with no poppy BS. A true MC

  63. BEATS CRAZY! you guys are fuckin trippin, dosent sound like Cole though. Still fire

  64. if people have such a problem with the blog and its writers GO TO A DIFFERENT BLOG

  65. I always get a laugh when people say Wiz sold out because if you listened to Flight School, BAR, DOND, or K&OJ you should’ve gotten every indication that he was gonna go for a mainstream sound, otherwise you were lying to yourself. Wiz still killing shit on his tapes but when it’s time to get the loot, he making songs to do just that. Not even saying its right or wrong but clearly that’s what it is.

  66. real people want real music – kendrick bringin the real ish back!!!!!

  67. love the beat.. dgaf

  68. For so many ppl to not like this song… it’s dope to nope ratio is pretty high lmao.
