While out in San Bernardino for Rock the Bells, yours truly and TheWellVersed sat down with Killer Mike for a 2Dope conversation. The first part of our talk (watch here) centered around his music, while the second portion was politically driven. In the clip above, Mike explains why Barack Obama should be held accountable by black voters, how we’ve become desensitized to issues such as Trayvon Martin, the importance of supporting black businesses and how became the way he is. Shouts to my good friend Andreas Hale on conducting the interview.

BLACK PEOPLE SHOULD KEEP THEIR MONEY WITHIN THE BLACK COMMUNITY BUT YOU SHOULD BUY MY ALBUM BECAUSE IT WAS PRODUCED BY EL-P. CMON SON.
I agree with Killer Mike on 80% of the shit he says but first of all I think if you gonna come across as being angry then explain what you mad about. He talks about Obama as if he’s done nothing for black people and I can somewhat see where he took that opinion from but really the Obama effect has alot of positivity attached to it especially on the mentality of the black man. Cause now when he sees himself he realizes that there is a new goal to achieve now instead of just basketball, rapping and drug dealing and as far as what Obama should do, has done, or his stance on how he feels about black people , Mike can look it up and see how Obama feels about his own people and what he feels should be done in that community. Now as far as him lashing out at black leaders talking about de-arming themselves? I feel that was a shot at Farrakhan and thats not what he preaches. Farrakhan as said that he will defend himself against anybody even if that means with a gun but what he also says is that firearms are also contributing to the prison culture so he’s simply saying stop being caught with your guns and if you are gonna carry them stop killing your own with them. Then he goes on to kinda give props to that certain kind of group that protest for their 2nd amendment rights and in some aspect I see what he’s saying but that situation also has a negative aspect because most times people are shooting, its most likely a black youth that catches the bullet. Now people are gonna say yeah but alot of times its from a black shooter but within the context of what Mike is saying, he said “white militia men” that fight for their rights, but those same kind of militia men have a history of killing black people because alot of them are the children of the Ku Klux Klan. Again I agree with 80% of what Mike says in his raps and in his interviews but I have a problem with where some of his attacks are aimed especially when there aimed at his own. Dont just send shots at whatever and whoever if you gonna have this revolutionary type conversation, have some specific targets in mind. FIN
this is a great video and interview… i hope you keep releasing segments form it 2dbz…. and for the big long critique of the interview above me… what Killer Mike is saying is go out and do something about your situation… If some white militia men can do it why can’t you…
