Something new from the Slice-of-Spice gang, now up for sale. Hit the jump for more info and snippets.

We’re dropping an incredible piece of vinyl next month (4.23.) with DJ Format, featuring Edan & Mr. Lif. After the first few days of leaking images and audio online we’re now reaching out to our friends in the online community to increase the chatter and share more info.

We’re talking about a crazy 10” piece of wax, including an incredible playable postcard…you read that correctly! DJ Format is one of the most talent DJ’s and Producers in the game, and it’s time to raise his profile in the US.

For those interested in posting here’s the skinny:

The DJ Format project, which has been dubbed the ‘Triple B Project’, referencing the fact it links Brighton (UK – DJ Format), Boston (MA – Edan & Mr. Lif), and Brooklyn (NYC – SOS Records/Richard “Spice” Smith). Slice Of Spice is proud to be working with DJ Format, and collaborating with his dope indie hip-hop label, Project Blue Book.

Already connected through the DWG crew out of the UK, Slice Of Spice had already heard the tracks off DJ Format’s new LP “Statement Of Intent” (distributed on vinyl in the US by SOS) long before its release. Knowing the impact the Edan and Mr. Lif tracks would make as a single a prolonged period of what can only be described as “pestering” Matt took place, and eventually a deal was struck after a meeting in London late last year. From that moment a limited edition 10” was put into the SOS works with Mr. Krum at the design helm, who has already produced an incredible cover for the album.

The 10” is already at press and will be released in the middle of April. It’s a double A sided release, with cover art on both sides and top loading to give it a real retro feel. As usual with SOS Records projects there’s a few geeked-out special edition vinyl treats lined-up for the release next month. There’s a special edition color vinyl version of the 10” (clear vinyl with black swirl mix), which is limited to 250 copies and they’re all individually numbered with a silver foil stamp. As an added bonus, those who support the special edition release (only available directly from Slice-of-Spice) will receive a free promo only playable postcard of the exclusive “Remember (Beatbox Remix)”. There’ll also be a “Collectors Pack” available (limited to only 10 sets), which will include both versions of the 10”, the postcard, the LP, the first 12” off the LP (Mr. DJ), and specially hand ink stamped test pressings (and numbered) of both the LP, and the 10”. SOS continues its commitment to cater across the board for vinyl lovers, from the geeks to the collectors to those who just want to play the straight flat black plastic!
