I’m only commenting because I think it’s safe to say that this isn’t a Hip-Hop record.. in fact I would bet it won’t even be labeled under Hip-Hop in the record store.. and thats all cool, I’m happy that she is moving out of this genre. I hope this documents the last of her on this blog.
A) Judging by the comments, I just skip the listen, I’ve washed my hands of this Nicki situation after that terrible Grammy performance.
B) It’s been evident for quite some time that Nicki’s career has kind of been all over the place, and now she’s just shucking and jiving for the masses. I’m not shocked by how left her career is now, if you go back to when she was about to release Pink Friday it doesn’t seem like there was a clear concept of who she was or wanted to be as certain singles that her and her team liked bombed, while songs she didn’t care for did well. I know she went to school for acting, and has mentioned wanted to get back into it in the past, so she probably got 2 more hip pop records in her before she goes full blown Latifah and never looks back.
C) My biggest issue however is why 2dope continues to support this vile waste. It’s obvious Nicki does not give a fuck about about 2dopeboyz or hip hop in general, well unless she on a Drake or Ross record. The truth of the matter is there are plenty of talented female MC’s, that rap, that are not getting any shine on here. Why continue to peddle out bullshit, when you can play a part in supporting/blowing up a positive movement in hip hop. There are a lot of people who’s first listen of new/ underground/emerging artist is had on this site. So why not plant the seeds of something decent with the potential to flourish, instead of scattering the site with this poisonous weed.
