Art by Karla Moy.

Last year Saigon dropped his debut album The Greatest Story Never Told, and it was (in my eyes) one of the best albums of the year. Now he's back with the third installment of his Warning Shots series, and I'm hoping that it's as good as his last effort. Tracklist and link down bottom.

  • conratron

anyone else turned off by this awful art?

  • mazoomy

Me tbh lol. That shit takes ugly to brave new heights.

  • Sprosma

^^^Nah conratron, I am in this for the music. I tend not to care what dudes look like.

  • Chris

This should be another dope listening experience.

  • SMH

@Sprosma: I agree 100%, that's why I wish Rappers felt the same way. I don't need to see the artist mean mugging and shit or trying to look "cool" on the cover. Save all that shit and make a plain white cover for all I care. My point is, there is a reason he puts himself on the cover and that same reason is why you listen.

  • SmokeaLot

REAL HIP HOP FROM A REAL ARTIST

    YOU DONT HEAR THAT EVERYDAY

  • http://2dopeboyz.com DirtyNIGGER

Only listening to this for the just blaze beats

  • BounceB

i was thinkin just blaze would have a bigger hand n production on dis ehhh.....

  • LexiCon

being Saigon's fan I must say I expected more. I know it's raw, definitely not album material, but still I expected something more. Nothing from Just Blaze, except the intro talk. And Saigon better stop making songs about girls, because they're cheesy. "women are the new dogs" - really???

  • E. Geeziss

Listen to 2, 5, 7 & 8 back to back & tell me there's someone out right now spittin better than what's on those tracks. CUTDABULLSHIT!!

  • Detroit89

ill wait til this is put on livemixtapes.com that site labels the tracks better

  • J.O

I really never understood the symbolism of rappers taking their shirt off for covers. I can understand LL or Nelly. The RnB dudes i can understand like a Trey Songz, Tank, Tyrese, Usher types...hell even Drake if he did it, but Saigon? With a title called "Warning Shots"...IDK Dope rapper tho!

  • scholen

    saigon is corny as hell.

  • SirCatalyst

Hopefully this will be better than Warning Shots 2. That tape was really disappointing.

  • http://deepthoartin101.com gagmydick

Support the real folks, fuck that police-illuminati-808-bullshit corny raps/production shit.

    HIP-HOP Bitch!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • MegaMan

I didnt know D.Lo Brown was rapping now.

  • E. Geeziss

I keep hearing all this talk about THE COVER THE ARTWORK THE COVER... that's why the majority of rap (I refuse 2 call it hip-hop) SUCKS nowadays. Its audience is a bunch of schoolgirls & queers gossiping about photo albums in their skinny jeans and reciting 1 dimensional song choruses by their drag queen icons. Yall fuckin SUCK, on the real. Who the fuck needs yall? Not real hip-hop. Stop talking about artwork & @ least hate on the MUSIC if you're gonna hate... after all, the world still needs yall 2 do yall jobs. Fuck off. Go listen to rap. This is HIP-HOP.

  • SPank (Divided Souls Ent)

Thanks for this Saigon project. Keep doing big things with the site and many blessings in 2012. Peace and GOD BLESS

  • j

lol @ thinking artwork doesn't matter in this game, good luck homie

  • E. Geeziss

  • jet

    @e. geeziss
still a corny artwork for a mixztape...his hands look weird here

  • http://kitchen-takeout.blogspot.com grimyteddy

I just opened the page to ask about the cover and everyone already asked. W/E. But for real why do guys do that stupid pose esp at the gym? Planet Fitness fools stay walking in the gym just like this dude.

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/ShawnyBoyMusic ShawnyBoy

Rap or hip-hop. This is bad photoshop skills. And isn't hiphop about great art? When people tagged and graffiti was, that was hip-hop. This is a 4th grade photosop work

  • marty mcfly

People always complaining about how they hate the current state of hip hop and how they want that real shit back but when some dope shit does come out they just find something to complain about. Smh

  • tompenerabreaded

fuck a cover. i just cant stand his cadence. same with action bronson. i respect them, theyre raw mcs. just cant listen to it much.

    petty.

  • Saigon??? LOL

I don't understand how anyone can listen to this dude and claim it's REAL HIP-HOP afterward. This dude is an idiot.

  • nibs

truth is he is an idiot. i loved all sai's shit, but I was disappointed with greatest story. i expected him to drop mad knowledge, he's one of the few dudes talkin real shit, but he still sounds like he has never picked up a book.
STOP PREACHIN ON US TO EDUCATE OURSELVES IF YOU ARE JUST AS IGNORANT
everything he's made since 2002 sounds exactly the same. which is better than 98% of hip hop but still he got so much potential that he wastes

  • IllaIller

    is that a duckface

  • QB

@ nibs It is what it is.. Saigon for lack of a better term is a "jail nigga". He spent SIX years in jail, and went in at an early age. Those are key formative years in a man's development, and he spent it in the harshest environment. It comes through in everything he does, interviews, the way he talks about women, everything. He wants to "kick knowledge", but the ignorance is too ingrained in him. This is coming from a Saigon fan. He's gonna keep making good music, but I doubt he'll every really get that shine..

  • http://www.twitter.com/fr3dmartins Fred

he throwin up that HiiiPower hand sign on the cover! ah!

  • marty mcfly

Now some of you saying Saigon aint real hip hop? Or he aint kickin no intelligent shit? Stop it cause along with all his raps about violence he's saying alot of shit that actually make sense. One thing that sucks for a dope lyricist is that people be praying for one to show up but when a real MC does come through those same people say its not dope. Then you wonder why a artist like Drake is popular and a artist like Saigon isnt. Its not them its the fans that cant handle music thats too real or too raw. Its like you gotta be a little watered down or some kinda friendly type of nice guy character thats relatable to squares just to get respected for the messages in the music. Cut the bullshit cause not every rapper is gonna give you substance in the music and then say have a nice day after. Some are gonna say, here's a message and btw fuck you.

  • trufisbak

this one's waaay better then warning shots 2, cept for the cover of course *lol* nice lil street album...the mixing/mastering sounds fine...can't complain here

  • Saigon’s Manboobz

Caution; Saigon is always defending himself in comment spots all over the internets. If he's reading this, I think your mix-tape should be titled "Facial Shots 3", you fuggin' fruit.

  • E. Geeziss

@marty mcfly real talk & not only that - all these listeners who didn't comprehend the intellect of GSNT are either A) hipster babies who can't respect the culture because their definition of a "deep emcee" is Drake or Wale or 1 of them corny-soundin muhfuckaz & they fell in love w/ hip-hop when Lil Wayne dropped Carter 1 (that's their definition of greatness) - B) suburbanite eminem dickriders who never actually held a day down in a real environment (fuck a day, try an HOUR) but they've "been there through the music I listen to meeann I can RELATE" (LMAOOO) because they listened to Talib Kweli & 2Pac so now they're experts on conscientious hip-hop & the Black Panther Movement... or - C) just some bum ass loser hater to all extremes stuck in a hole so now everyone else on the rise is a target in order to feed their attention-starved, friendless, girlless life in an attempt to forget the emptiness for a few minutes. Whatever the case, Saigon went over your head because you can never comprehend something so real. Sucks, doesn't it? The critical acclaim of GSNT was no accident. Yall r just too retarded to understand it, so you justify your stupidity with what? Artwork & soundscans. Shallow, superficial sucker shit. SMH

  • WuTang4Eva

Lol i was reading Marty mcfly's comment and about half way through I thought to myself "I bet that's Marty". Sure enough...

  • http://www.afrometnals.com djjamad

I like Saigon as an artist but regarding cover art it is VERY important. It means you care about your shit that you just produced... If you arent pressing up physicals you can at least put some effort into your presentation. Be cohesive. Nobody puts frooty looking wrapping paper on an expensive gift. This project seems like a bunch of frustration to me. Do better.

  • egeeziss

Yeah, be cohesive... maybe put a little rouge on & some eyeshadow. Maybe let the A&Rs & program directors stick the tip in just a liiiiiiiiiiiittle bit before U get FUCKED!!! Dude aint bitchmade. You go play dressup. Leave the real shit for someone else 'cause it obviously aint for you. Hey, it aint for everyone...

  • egeeziss

How the fuck did anyone ever read a book by studying its cover? That's some birdshit.

  • http://2dopeboyz.com NYgiants

@marty mcfly <<<<< this guy has no life outside commenting 2dopeboyz pages..... he needs a bitch for all i know.... idk how people bother reading his shit... plus i remember when i was a big Saigon fan.... before he go murdered by Joe Budden... if you trace back to the real hip-hop days.. all the real artists had real and creative covers... Saigon looks like a straight homo up in his... lookin like Johhny Bravo.. this guy doesnt have any female fans cause he cant make an exceptional song that appeals to woman so of course he's showin off to all you guy fans out there who might be turned on by that...

  • daveg

Album is really dope. We need some ArtByShake

  • jlee1214

@djjamad I agree with you. The cover art can be almost as important as the song itself. Shows you care about your work 100% and cover art like this can definitely be improved...

  • Washcloth: the son of Towelie

No new Just Blaze production? I'm not interested.
