Shaz professes his love of all the various Nikes that have imprinted themselves in every aspect of Hip-Hop culture. Expect to see and hear a lot more of Shaz in 2012, bet that. Jordan Is & Vs > *
For the New Years, Troy does his thing over Jeezy’s I Do, while surrounded by copious amounts of that powder. Yep, #BrilliantIgnorance. MEKA UPDATE:: Yo, *crying* at “Avon Blocksdale” though…
Footage of Cassidy giving the crowd an original off the top freestyle at this year’s Philly Hip Hop Awards. You ever wonder if these rappers are really freestyling these rhymes or just reciting written’s? And if so, why not just work on becoming better at freestyling? Just a thought. Nevertheless, lyrically, yes and the wordplay is on point, good show by Cassidy.
While we shared our official lists yesterday, Shake and I thought it would be a good idea to give a little insight into what our weekend weed carriers listen to during their time off. So without further ado, the Spliff Star Awards!

For those who are a little unfamiliar with Boog Brown, and what she encompasses as an artist, here are a couple vignettes rolled into one short that picks the Detroit emcee’s brain behind her remix project, as well as commentary by her peers on what she represents. The Brown Study Remixes available on iTunes now.
The Language Artz spitter is gearing up to drop an EP shortly after the New Year; meaning, you won’t get the shit until Shake and I sober up two days later. Check out the tracklisting down bottom.
On Thursday December 29th, A$AP Rocky headlined his first concert in Miami at Grand Central, brought to you by WRLD Ent. From the minute the Harlem emcee touched the stage the crowd was full of energy, reciting songs off his critically acclaimed mixtape LIVE.LOVE.A$AP. word for word. Accompanied by his A$AP Mob, it was pretty clear that they have established a solid fan base in South Florida to which even I was surprised. Getting such a great response, A$AP Rocky decided to premiere a new track he recorded in Miami towards the end of his performance. I’m not sure 100% what the track was titled but I can say that it was indeed dope. You’d probably be able to agree more if the bass wasn’t so loud but hey, it’s a concert. Rocky ended the show with a performance of fan favorite “Peso” and probably his third or fourth stage dive of the night. From Harlem to Miami, A$AP Rocky proved he’s a force to be reckoned with and he’s not stopping any time soon. – Ashley
You really can’t “hear” the new track (there’s way too much bass in the video), but it’s the energy of “Peso” I wanted to showcase. I played the song at my gig last night in Manhattan and it damn near caused a riot.

I may not have included Elite’s Awaken in my Year End List but that isn’t because the music isn’t dope. It’s just that I didn’t get enough time to sit down with it. And unlike most sites/magazines… politics and relationships don’t override our opinions. With that said, here goes an unreleased cut that didn’t make the final cut for the project.
Been keeping up with Phil Ade’s weekly series but afraid you’ve missed a few? Have no fear as the DMV rep gathered each installment and packaged it in a nice little folder. Tracklist/download link after the jump.
