Imagine that? A new Blu & Exile album? It’s really not new, though. It’s material from 2009. Either way, it’s new to us. Rejoice hip-hop heads! Props to OKP.

Been waitin a long time for these 2 to drop a new album. This shits fire.
Is this the one Blu’s been hinting at the last year? Thought they were actually recording new material not just waiting to release old material.
Still happy.
holy shit i need this right now. gimme that
guess new material coming next year titled Memoirs
been waiting on this for a minute, glad its finally here to end my 2011 off right
Sounds dope. Below the Heavens might´ve been the best album of the 2000´s imo. Near flawless, only track that was whack was Juice N Dranks (and I bet some people even liked that joint).
$15 for an unmixed/unmastered album? that’s pretty ridiculous.
Huh? Ok right after work I’m checking a below the heavens reunion I hope shit this was unexpected 2dope
this shit isnt mastered or mixed….so i wouldnt pay for it.
But where the Fuck can I download it?
Blu is 1/2 Jewish, he says so in a few of his songs
@Daiqwan Not sure why you brought that up but I never heard that. What songs? Would explain the price though….
can this man ever once in his life have his shit mixed and mastered?
Damn this shit made my day. Too dope! Always love hearing new Blu & Exile. They have their own original sound that doesnt sound like anything else out, so refreshing
Its dope, but 15 bucks for an unmixed, unmastered project is kinda steep don’t ya think?
blu’s a genius for how he puts out his music. this just made my day. 2dope.
why the hell are any of you complaining. are you broke? if you dont want to pay 15$ then dont pay for it and listen to the stream?
with that said i got my below the heavens record coming in the mail dec 22. preorder on amazon. better hurry hahaha
thank you blue and exile and shake and meka. great day when blus involved
@Daiqwan
Jewish is not a race homey.
she said its ok. !!!!!!!!!
dope dope dope!!!
Yea’ll wouldnt even notice that it wasnt mixed or mastered if yall aint read it so, what yall complaining for?
This made my day
No zips?
And for the Blu fans across the pond? Anyone know if this will hit iTunes?
damn $15 and no physical copy? Trippin in late 2011 lol.
Unmastered, unmixed, and unfinished for $15. Blu is laughing at you suckas.
Anyway for the dude that asked about Blu fans ‘across the pond’, Bandcamp is worldwide. But you already knew that so stop playin.
ummm. define mixed and mastered? that’s perception and opinion based. mixing is an art in itself. maybe this is the way he wanted you to hear it? timeless music is timeless music. who cares if its 2 years old. most albums prior to 2000 took 2+ years to make. just a thought.
yes.bars bars and bars
this is like his 5th this year… he’s crazy
5th album**
@tompetty you’re ugly.
blu hates his music to have any type of quality. he probably records on his macbook while sitting in a professional studio.
anyone have a mediafire link or something?
What’s the purpose of not mixing & mastering the music, especially if he’s selling it? Above the Heavens & Jesus were clean…but most if not all of Blu’s other albums/EP’s sound muffled aka like shit.
AM radio sounds better.
Madlib makes plenty of “dusty” tracks that are mixed & mastered.
Im a huge fan of Blu & Exile but this is just unacceptable and in poor taste imo. Fans have been patiently waiting for a follow up to what I consider the best album in the past 10 years and this is what we get? An unmixed unmastered quickstrike album were supposed to pay MORE than what wed pay for a normal album? FUCK THAT.
Also, having your album mixed and mastered properly is perception and opinion based? What the fuck are you talking about?
Is this going to hit iTunes? Not sure if I can download via bandcamp over here in the UK.
Wish Blu would promote his records properly. If being on Warner is the problem he should just walk away. What happened to NoYork?
I’m convinced No York was a joke.
i can’t ever bring myself to pay for music when i’m not getting a physical cd
@TekZilla you dont understand because your simple.
and @Here&There your credibility went out the window when you said Above the heavens… below me.
@factormax and @whosthat?BROWN! have the best idea of whats going on.
its abstract art people. if you try and make sense out of it youll never understand it.
UK people stop playin. Bandcamp is worldwide, you’re just trying to be stingy with the cash.
I advise everyone to not pay for this shit.. I love Blu but every time he releases music it’s unmastered and just shitty quality, I pay for it because I want to support good music, then he releases it in good quality.. I’m just gonna wait to buy the good quality version of this..
NOyork deserves more than just 1 listen, that album is a great addition to blu’s discography. Ready to listen to this though hopefully he’ll release this again mixed and mastered like he did with jesus
@London wasn’t being stingy at all, it was a genuine question, never bought of bandcamp before. I asked if it was hitting iTunes, meaning I’m prepared to pay for it. Don’t be a dick.
And NoYork has received unnecessary criticism. Yeah it’s experimental and obviously it won’t be for everyone, but I think it’s a good album overall. Kinda reminds me of how people were about Common’s ‘Electric Circus’… Different doesn’t mean bad.
@ tompetty – oh word I lose credibility? Listening to Above the Rim sdtk, talking about Below the Heavens, whatever. You knew exactly what I meant. I wasn’t asking you for a response, and the one you provided had no answers to my questions…but thanks anyway.
Carry on.
blu is one of my top five favorite rappers of all time (don’t care if that high, it’s my taste and he sounds dope to me)
but $15 for unreleased music from 2009 even though i like it and it sound nice is a bit much
i thought “ar r ie mx a ll pink r ep” was too much at $5 for 5 short songs, guess ill wait to megaupload/mediafire that shit
how can anyone dislike Blu? Below The Heavens was dope as fuck
support hip-hop
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FyuquLbH_JU
@Here&There i already answered your answer with my first comment. and you damn near answered your own answer with the madlib reference. i see a lot of parallels between madlib/blu. keep diggin in madlibs alias’ and find music MUCH more dusty than this. at least the beats are knockin! why yall trippin. he expects yall to pirate this shzzzz. hence the 15…its a fuck you before you fuck him.
Just wait he always releases an “unmixed” digital version first, then he releases a better sounding physical copy
Blu is overrated & his flow is lame. His show was the worst thing I have seen in years. This is hip hop’s savior? GtFOoH
So does anyone have confirmation that there will be a better quality version being released or is that all speculation? I have a 320 kbps link though… still sounds pretty damn good in comparison to his other shit.
I read in past interviews that blu is the one that’s been wanting to leak the project (in the same manner as the others) but exile wants it mixed /mastered….. Looks to me like blu got ahold of the tracks lol! Either way I’m glad for the music but def am not paying 15 for it this way.
Get this a proper release !!!!
Give me vinyl.
To dude above saying Blu is lame, I suppose he seems lazy/boring at times but you can’t deny his his talent as an MC. Listen to his music more than once before you give up.
The version I just got of this release sounds good, especially compared to the version of GodLeeBarnes LP I have.
Track 2 just made my day.
to anyone dissing this record. get your head out your fvckin ass.
i cannot believe anybody complaining about the quality has actually listened to the music. at least stream it before you open your mouths.
this nigga blu is trying to make sh-t happen and y’all are up in arms about paying for his music. foh. if you aint a fan of his new sh-t, go back to your parents bedroom and cradle yo copy of BTH cos if you haven’t noticed, dude has moved on. i advise you to do the same. noyork, jesus, herfavcolor, godleebarnes, flowers, open are all great.
if you don’t agree, fist yoself.
People are really complaining about the lack of mixing and mastering? It’s not difficult to understand him and the instrumentals still come up. Give Blu the money he deserves, and if you can’t afford it then stream it. Or learn how to use fucking Audacity and rip it.
The actual music on here is on point, despite it not being “studio quality”.
I wish yall kill that unmixed/mastered shit…if your a blu fan then you become one off that unmixed unmastered music your complaining about. This is what he does and I would go as far to say its his style since its pretty consistent and it still sounds great based on that. good shit blu..only compliant is 15 bucks? hell a new released actually CD is cheaper than that lol
“more out of life” alone was enough for me to buy this. i’ve been waiting for that mp3 since blu performed it on some podcast i had downloaded on my computer a whiiile back.
This could be drastic to say, but his lyrics on this are definitely better than Below the Heavens.
I saw Ex, Fash & Blu perform in Pamona last weekend. They were all dope as usual except for Blu with his complete lack of stage presence. It’s all good though cause the man makes great Hip Hop plus he performed Doo Whop.
I got a chance to speak with Ex after the show and he said him & Blu are about 9 songs deep into the new album, then he signed my homegirl’s tity lol
I hear so many complaints about the quality of Blu’s music but it never seems to phase me. I’m just grateful dude is making music. It does suck that I can’t bump the GodleeBarns LP on my car stereo cause of the quality though. Ear buds are god sent when it comes to Blu’s music.
http://www.mediafire.com/?6x11nb86sopq914
production andwhole style to this album is siiiick
blu is the best poet. ever. like for reals.
&PrettyMuchFuckkkYouIfYouDisagree.
Is Blu late with his rent? Everything about this release suggests he’s looking for a quick buck.
In an interview with Above Ground Magazine, Blu expressed his future intentions with music, specifically on his notion of retiring from rap.
“I’ve never seen myself rapping after 30,… I’ve always seen myself doing film. I have like three films I would love to shoot. But I would need a budget for it.
I’m a fan of Blu. I think he’s a pretty phenomenal MC. I don’t like everything he releases. Some of it just ain’t for me. His work with Exile is probably his best. But I have to completely agree that 15 bucks for an album that has not been treated like an official release is overpriced. I’m the type of listener that prefers to pay for a physical product I can open and read liner notes for. 10 is more reasonable for a digital release. Either way, it’s dope that they released another project for consumption.
BLU & EXILE – GIVE ME THE FLOWERS WHILE I CAN SMELL THEM http://hulkshare.com/2pmvpw7v2g00
i love this album and i even bought it, but that john mccain track is some bullshit lol.
Im willing to pay 15 for it cause I have like 200 blu songs and I havnt paid for any, so Im buying this and finally supporting dude. This is incredible. And the sound quality is fine. Much better than godleebarnes
@Cali Grown, Preach my man!
Blu is filthy. Stay on the train or get off it.
Shit is another CLASSIC! Stop whining over AUDIO QUALITY, i heard entire shit audio quailty is good. u guys act like u cant hear anything from the album. beats are pure soul. lyrics are magic. just wait for CD or VINYL.
yeah shit is another classic! IWANT VINYL!
this shit is so good , thanks very much for the listen ghost of shake.
i’ve been listening to this for like 3 days straight, i dont even care about the 2009 shit, in terms of releases for this year, this is some the highest quality poetry, music, art i have heard in a while. this is an insta-classic
this dude is dope!! i agree with the unmixed music tho, oh well i will definitely be getting the vinyl tho lol.
Listen… I’m saying this as a genuine hip hop head… I’ve been blazing up in the last few days, and especially the last few hours. I love lyrical hip hop and i just went on a total trip with this album.. Theres a code in Blu’s music… You may think you understand this album and assume its another underground rap album… Listen a few times and leave it… I wont tell you the secrets, because its a spirutal journey. But this is the most beautiful peice of hip hop ever released and possibly most beautiful piece of art, ever… Blu paints pictures, emotions and dance moves from the depths of your soul. He’s a true artist, we should always respect that and be patient with his music. This album starts out as an apology and explanation to his strange behaviour, then the album expands to being an absolute rhyme slaughter, introducing new characters (Jean) to give the album a cinema noir feel…
Stories, flows, crazy adlibs that all add to the meaning and texture of the album. This is some real next level shit. Ive listen to a lot of trippy hip hop, but this is on another plane. Blu is the best MC of all time and he knows it. Its as if he raps on another plane of consciousness…
my new wake and bake album. yes thank you blu/ exile… again.
