People like this ruin the market for hip-hop, you have GOOD rappers like Jon Connor who gets hardly any shine in comparison to this guy, and the dude goes 10000% harder EVERY TIME. There are countless other rappers out there who are far superior at rapping AND consistently put out shit, which fucks me off because this guy gets so much attention, basically just because he’s fucking white. Yelawolf is also shite for the record, but guess what, he’s white too!!!!! If skin tone didn’t come into record sales and popularity these guys would be nowhere near as ‘commercially successful’ as they are now. He gets beats from 9th Wonder and DJ Premier now. This guy has more appeal than other rappers that are better than him because he is white, all white rappers easily get attention. Has Mac Miller been on his ‘grind’? Yes. Would he be as ‘popular’ if he was black? In my opinion, certainly not. I like Asher Roth as a rapper, a bit less than I used to, but Seared Foie is or at least was one of my favorite mixtapes. You’re down right blind if you gonna argue with the fact that white people don’t have more of a mainstream appeal than black people, look at all the wack white rappers who have such success. Why? They can’t rap for shit. It’s image. Is this just their skin color? Nope. But I believe it’s a big part. Do I agree that this should be the way it is?     See, this is what’s wrong with Hip Hop and music in general. We’re so stuck up on race that we ignore the talent (not saying Mac is very talented, btw) that’s right in front of our faces.

    First of all, how many white rappers came out with an album that hit mainstream fame? Eminem and the Beastie Boys…and that’s about it.

    Meanwhile rappers like Nicki Minaj, Drake, J Cole, Big Sean, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Kanye West, Jay Z, Wiz Khalifa (which has the same style of Mac, by the way), and the many other BLACK rappers that have had mainstream appeal?

    To add insult to injury, white rappers like Action Bronson and Apathy don’t have NEARLY as much mainstream appeal as the rappers that I just mentioned.

    So, in conclusion, your entire reasoning is bullshit. Just because a rapper is another colour other than black DOES NOT mean that he/she will be automatically successful.

  20. I said more likely to be successful, I didn’t say it guaranteed success, plus I also stated acknowledged that Mac Miller had put effort in to be where he is. I don’t know who Apathy is, but Action Bronson is fat. That’s an image problem. Joell Ortiz had a similar problem and has had to grind forever to get where he is now, which still isn’t anywhere on Mac Miller really.

    This is also Mac Miller’s first album I think? Plus Yelawolf is gonna get what I presume is a lot of sales? So did Asher Roth? (Who I do appreciate). They won’t sell as many as Eminem (obviously, because he was actually good). I’m also not saying it’s impossible for anybody who isn’t white to have mainstream appeal, because quite obviously, that’s not true, as you observe.
