Black Star To Return In 2012?

Talib Kweli was interviewd by MTV’s The Hive earlier this week, and in between providing commentary on Idle Warship (whose Habits Of The Heart is available now), Spin Magazine (“…it’s hard for a black rapper to get love in Spin; especially a black rapper who is talking about the struggle.”) and Herman Cain (“[He] is Bizarro Obama. He’s the flip side; he lives in an alternate universe. The thing about Cain… he’s just not a serious thinker.”) he added this tidbit:

“I am working to put out a Black Star project for people to buy sometime next year.”

Let’s see if that holds any weight in music’s notoriously fickle world. I’d like to see it happen, however.

  3. good look wiff!!

  4. I disagree with Talib…not only is Herman Cain a serious thinker, but he is also a successful businessman who has held several, serious, private sector jobs (unlike our current career politician commander-in-chief). In regards to his Bizarro comment, we would likely benefit from a Bizzaro World of the current administration.

  5. The title of this post seems like another end of the world hoax. And I’m not even stoned right now.

  6. @wiff! – clearly you aint up on your shit because the 2DB did in fact post that shit… come on now.
waiting on a CDQ….. (meka? shake?)

  7. @nate86 hmmmm. i searched blackstar and didnt find anything. i knew i shoulda said i think* yall didnt post it. definitely laughin at your scary ass. i dont need 2dope to know whats happnin.

  8. I’m gonna be honest here. I loved Mos Def and Talib Kweli are Black Star…I love all of Talib Kweli’s albums up to Revolutions per Minute and Gutter Rainbows…I love Black on Both sides, but Mos Def’s (or Yappa Zappa or whatever he calls himself) albums after that don’t do it for me. Also, its been 13 years since Black Star dropped…I doubt it happens now and if it did my expectations wouldn’t be that high….

  9. YES!!! I’ve yet to see Mos live.

    Blackstar will forever reign supreme.
