I know I’m not the one to talk, considering I’m nowhere near the circles these rappers hang in, but Maybach Music Group (although it might enjoy a little success in the coming year or two, mostly because for some reason, inexplicable to me Rick Ross is the alpha and omega to a lot of people) must be THE WORST LABEL YOU COULD POSSIBLY SIGN FOR. The label’s blueprint is: dumb it the fuck down on some Lex Luger shit and we iight… I mean, I can’t wrap my head around the fact that Meek Mill is from Philly (State Prop, mostly Freeway, Will Smith for that matter – this guy shouldn’t be alowed to cross the t’s and dot the i’s on their lyrics), when he’s more of a southerner, and not the Outkast, Big KRIT type, but the stereotypical Lil Scrappy type of no-good-rhyme-sayer… And Wale, who I used think is the future of this hip hop thing we love, after Attention:Deficit, puts out dumber after dumber track with each release. And seriously, do rappers today have like 10 slots in their vocabulary… I know you’re Maybach Music (doubleM-G, whatever) or Cash Money… Add some supstance to your lyrics…
im callin 60k or less for wale first week, dude alienated his old fanbase and even tho he’s gettin some radio play now, no ones enough of a fan to buy his new shit. dude failed
cosign, thatrealshit, I miss the old Wale. I can’t get behind his trap music shit, hes rollin with the wrong crowd now, it seems like hes a nerd trying to fit in with a set to be cool.
ya’ll are entitled to your opinion and I respect them and ya’ll. That being said, I can’t co-sign any of that shit. What’s this guy gotta do for respect? first he’s not rap enough, then he’s a faggot for writing some poems for the bitches, and now he’s too hood or dumbed down for everyone!! wale can’t win for losin’ with all these haters
cosign @ Zangief… No one said this about kanye when he was the newest member of the rocafella team doing hood tracks with beans… But never the less if you are not from wales area then you wouldnt understand that the cool kids, hood n*ggas and nerds from va/md/dc all go to the same clubs and intertwine. The mix in the dc area is very versatile. Thats why wale’s music expresses that. We in the middle of all of it. Next to the white ppls and politicians but next door to the crack house too. Soo wale’s expresses both sides equally. anyway yall that cant get with his ish is either too nerdy to get with the hood or to hood to get with his lyrical and I can understand that.
First I must say I agree with @ZANGIEF & @kill somethin. This track is merely a representation of his hometown. None of the people talking bad about Wale can name a rapper that hasn’t done so. I’m from DC and know that this isn’t even his song he just re-did it so it can get a national airplay, which is what Wale came up on THEN switched his style up. Wale’s first album was nothing like the Wale I was used to hearing so I’m looking forward to the new album.
MAn shut the fuck up yal niggas from the other niggas from the DMV be reachin like shit. OUt of towners i dont want you to think this is a repenstation of the area i live in. This nigga is what we call a “get wit.” he knows people dont fuck with him enough solo dolo so he gets with people in hopes people think hes 2 cool. Mark ronson, Waka flocka, RIck ross. hate is the new love is the last time he was nice #stamped
this man def fucked up when signed with ross, music quality went down, lyrics went down,he just dumbed his whole style down and instead of having his own identity like before hes just some other lame rapper, its a real shame, when hes recording stuff liek beautiful bliss ill be waiting though
I don’t know. I just lost interest in Wale and haven’t been up on his mixtape game (the new ones, as well as the old ones I haven’t heard yet) and you guys might have a point.
But what @malcymalc said there, is exactly what I was trying to say, there’s no identity to Wale (and he had a lot, maybe not billboard hot100 worthy, but he was fresh back when A:D dropped), there is no identity to Meek Mill (like I said, he’s just another A-Town trap boy to me, when he’s actually from Philly, hometown of the Roots, for crying out loud)… And Pill too, now that the rest of the camp sounds exactly the same, Pill’s got no identity of his own too. Oh, not to mention the old Ross moochers, can’t remember their names (Gunplay etc.)…
I read all the comments and everybody is entitled to their own opinion. But the fact is he is a young brother doing his thing & livin his dream. As a CD it is good with variety something I dont see from alot of rappers now days. If hating is your way of feeling good about yourself rewind & start over because its not a good look. When was the last time your favorite rapper went back to the hood to help other artist. I want to thank Wale & MMG for the love they gave my son dancing in the video. In the age of me first, big butt girls, cars and jewelry. Thanks for reaching back when rap was art and dancers were part of the art. Good lookin out from the kid in the blue jersey.
