    Do you realize lyrics are all a rapper brings to a song? (Unless he also produced it.) That’s like saying it seems like everybody wants these singers to hit the right notes. Rappers write lyrics.

    I suppose you could mean “thoughtful,” people expect thoughtful lyrics, and sometimes that is a bit too much to ask, especially from Mac. But literally all Mac has going for him is his flow. No punchlines, no content, it’s all generic. Every time I listen to Mac I’m underwhelmed. He does have a nice flow and the production is usually good, so if all Mac’s songs were 30 seconds long then I’d be a fan. But if I’m expected to listen to him for 2 to 3 to 4 minutes at a time I need dude to say something.

He might come across as a slooow retard (and he may actually be handicapped, who knows?) but he can kick rhymes with various styles and not sound like it’s forced or offbeat. His lyrics aren’t on par with Jay or Mos, but who’s lyrics are? All I know is dude can rap and for the most part whoever his producers are have some heat to them. And he’s been getting big dough headlining tours from a large catalog of music that’s about to get 16 songs larger — and it’s all indy money. Why judge dude for what he isn’t instead of what he is? Oh, and by the way 9th Wonder and DJ Premier cosign him. Not bad for a 4 year career. You’re gonna be really mad when he headlines a show that your favorite rapper happily agreed to be an opening act for. There’s still room on the bandwagon, jump on, we won’t tell anybody we had to wake you from your deep slumber…

It’s cool that y’all have your own opinions about him but just respect the grind and realize what this kid is doing on an independent circuit. It’s truly amazing. I also agree with the dom kennedy comparison as well. I love Dom’s shit but we all know dude is not lyrical. He makes chill shit though and you can’t deny that. Same with mac.
