While on the set of his upcoming video for Bonfire, Donald Glover’s rapping half speaks with MTV about his upcoming debut.
The biggest compliment I can give it is that I like it more than everything else I’ve made. I think it’s a cohesive piece, and I wanted to tell a whole story with it. Hopefully, the whole album is like a book or a novel where [there's] a through line. There were songs that we made, and I was like, ‘This can’t be on the album.’ I felt like that was a thing of growth. There [would be] other times when I was like, ‘Oh, this song is dope. We’ll just throw it on there too.’ But this one was like, ‘No. We have to stick to the theme and the idea of what I’m trying to say.
Sounds good to me. Hopefully the November 15th release date sticks.

On the real I cant wait for this album. Withen a couple of months this guy has become one of my top 5 favs. All of his music has serious substance.

It’s a stretch to think this guy is gonna make a lot of noise. He has a different audience, and I’m convinced most of them are not true hip hop fans. @Riles What’s a true hip hop fan? There’s so many varied tastes in hip hop you just can’t group everyone together. It’s getting way bigger for that.
