  14. @Ikem

I think he’s a very good MC, top 5. But people call him GOAT, which he is definitely not. He is being surpassed by up and coming rappers very quickly, and doesn’t really put any emotion in his music anymore. Nas put out one classic album in 94 and still gets praised as GOAT. I believe that’s overrated.

  15. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fs-lgLpfnoE

  16. It’s not that difficult to put out a classic album when you only have 10 tracks on it.

  17. @intrepreteur he put out another classic in 96 and another in 01′ and all but 2 of his albums are critically acclaimed and he’s heavily influenced/inspired many rappers including Jay-Z

  18. The Chronic > Illmatic

  19. @Intrepreteur

How can he be top 5 and have up and coming rappers surpassing him? If so, who are they? The last rapper I’ve seen that possibly surpasses him got his start in 96 and he hasn’t been called up and coming since 97.

  20. I forgot Nas dropped another classic in 02 with Lost Tapes and @masterdebator you can take every other classic albums 10 best tracks and make a album out of that and they still wouldnt be better than Illmatic and you have to be biased to say Chronic is better than Illmatic..maybe production wise but lyrically its nowhere near touching Illmatic

  21. @thechronic92

I’m saying top 5 of all time. I don’t particularly listen to his music regulary, it’s hard to do when he put no heart into it anymore. I’d much rather listen to Kendrick Lamar or J. Cole right now than Nas. Just my humble opinion.

  22. Great video. & great song. Still one of my favorite MCs.

  23. all yo mf’s dissing nas got that bitch blood in you.. go listen to some drake or sum shit fuk outa here man. GOAT without question..illmatic,it was written, stillmatic, classics…cant wait for this new album.

  24. Nas can rap circles around Kendrick and J. Cole with his mouth closed, only thing Kendrick and Cole got over Nas is that they are more relateable but they still arent on his level especially lyrically..songs like “Rewind” and “NY State of Mind” are more lyrical than any Cole or Kendrick song combined

  25. Shut y’all rap analystic asses up! Enjoy the music! Niggas always acting a fool in these comments, cuh! Shit!

On topic. NASTY! Check the message in the video, ho niggas!

  26. @intrepreteur
Ah, I see where you’re coming from. Yeah the praise he gets for having his name up as one of the G.O.A.T is due to Illmatic in addition to the rest of his discography. Also, the fact that many respectable MCs such as Talib Kweli, Eminem, J.Cole, Electronica, and Lupe. Personally, I don’t think he’s being surpassed by up and coming rappers-if he was I’m pretty sure people won’t have him in their top 5 let alone, their top 3 MCs of all time.

    @Masterdebater
Uh huh-Which is why a lot of people fail to put out a ‘classic album.’ Let alone a album that could be argued to be the greatest of its genre. Bravo.

  27. I dig the message in this video 4 real…
Going back 2 the roots n shit.

  28. Ah damn, excuse my tardiness(disregard the “top 5..” part).

  29. Nas knew to take all that shit off before he stepped into the project and got his ass shot up and robbed.

  30. dope.

  31. Video is boring like most rap videos. I haven’t liked a Nas video since ‘Bridging the Gap’. Great emcees though.

  32. Niggas is talking down on this? WOW this is NAS people…

  33. @Malik
    Take a look at Patience.

  34. NAS JUST LOOKS LIKE BACK THEN WHEN HE MADE ‘IT AINT HARD TO TELL’

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6645dmMyOs

    that shit cray.

  35. Intrepreteur < LACKING emotion.? heart? did u listen to the album he did with damien marley? his verses on Patience ALONE show hes still hungry. Not to mention this track. also 1 classic ?…hmm…illmatic..it was written..lost tapes..stillmatic..and did u actually LISTEN to untitled? he aint lost it..either way..im still waiting on YOU to say who is "up and coming" that has "surpassed" nas already…sheesh. dont worry ill wait!.

  36. His album is slated to drop at the end of this year…not next year.

  37. Lol at the guy that said its easy to make a classic

  38. @Malik

    ————————
erm…did u see the video for patience?
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c9VQye6P8k0&ob=av2e

    wats ur opinion on that?

  39. @ Marty,

These same people would hate on jesus if he had a post on here, dont even pay them any mind

  40. ill

  41. this shit is better than that jay electronica track!!!!

  42. NaS is in my top 2. and this video was pretty boring to me.

i get the organic concept of it…just think it could of been executed in a way that keeps the viewer interested. best part is him walking with the kids.

why does everyone always leave Gods Son out of NaS classics?? that album was better than STILLmatic to me…

ps. GTFOH mentioning kdot and cole. dont you know any other rapper??? damn yall are predictable. cole is WACK SAUCE to any purist. and kdots in an entirely different galaxy himself…its like debating whether chocolates better than vanilla.

  43. Nas IS the most overrated rapper of all time. NOTHING about him is really great. This piece of shit called ”Nasty” is just another evidence, incoherent shit-talking in Wayne-fashion. This didn’t have ONE good line. Nas is whack and needs to retire. Almost every single underground rapper out there raps circles around this lame fuck.

  44. tHIS IS WHY nAS IS THE BEST. oNLY THE REAL KNOWS HE’S THE BEST. THE REST ARE TOO STUPID TO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE HEARING. iF anyone…anyone ELSE IN THE GAME RIGHT NOW MADE THIS SONG, WITH THOSE LYRICS AND THAT VIDEO.. THAT SHIT WOULD SELL MORE THAN WEEZIES FIRST WEEK. THATS THE TRUTH!

  45. THIS VIDEO IS THE FLYEST SHIT SINCE I HAD YOUR MAMA’S LEGS IN THE AIR.

  46. And LOL @ ”N.Y. State Of Mind” and ”Rewind (which sucked btw) being mroe lyrical than ”Dollar and a Dream III”, ”Rise & Shine”, ”God’s Gift”, ”Breakdown”, ”Lost Ones” or ”Cole World”. I know it’s hard for Nas fans who didn’t hear decent wordplay in a 20 year career to decode good lyrics, but damn. Yall are delusional as fuck.

”The Coolest” shits on this dude’s career.

  47. “Pumpin Biggie the Great Legend, Blasting. I’m after the actress that played Faith Evans” Classic Nas!!!

  48. @ShadesOfInfamy obviously your too young to comprehend grown man lyricism. Rewind sucked???

    HAHAHAHA.

your opinion didnt matter at that point…and then you came back to reveal your a cole stan.

  49. @Shades of Reality
True, that is why Pac and the other greats had/have respect for him. Nasty did not have one good line, que?I think a lot of the lines went over your head. cue: Rap Genius

  50. @Shades of Reality

J Cole and Lupe are lyrically products of the mind and style of Nas so how you comparing the students to the teacher? Some people you just dont talk shit about and Nas is one of them. He has some records that I hate but he has some shit that literally built the art complex lyricism. Yeah there was Rakim before Nas and yeah there is Lupe after Nas but illmatic and It was Written is the reason why alot of people even started writting raps to begin with.

  51. Whoah..a J.Cole stan dissing Nas? The same J.Cole that proclaimed “Nobody touching Nas?” I don’t even..wow.

  52. The ”story” of ”Rewind” sucks, which is the reason he decided to tell it backwards, nothing complicated to it at all. I’m not a Cole fan at all, I’m just an avid Hip Hop listener who knows the shit he’s talking about.

Which line should’ve went over my head? LOL. Don’t act like this was some super lyrical Lupe or Canibus shit. LMAO. This track doesn’t have one good or well thought out line.

”I’m so high, I neverland like Michael Jackson’s crib”?
    ”Cheap as limousine liquor”?

    The line Drake had before?

”I never see the whips niggas be claimin’ they drivin’
I guess entertainment means blatantly lyin’”?

Or the other gems Nas dropped in the past?

”Timbs yellow like the hair on a malibu surfer”?

GTFHO! NEXT!!! THIS IS TERRIBLE NURSERY-RHYMING!

You clearly don’t know what good punchlines or double-entendres are. Listen to some rappers who aren’t as known as Nas and get a reality check, you fucking fool.

  53. @ Wiff you say j.Cole is wack to any purist? Nigga you ain’t one your damn self whats whack to you may not be wack to others.so stop trying to pass off opinions as facts you fuckin clown..anyways dope video cant wait for the album

  54. @Shades of Reality

You shouldn’t call people “fools.” It’s funny how you didn’t mention the line “I come from the Wheel of Ezekiel.” But with all do respect, Nas is not a punchline rapper. Listen to his discography first. And it’s funny how you make the baseless assumption that I do not know what good punchlines or double-entendres are…I’ll withhold from responding to that atrocious claim, yuck.

  55. DOPE

  56. I don’t hate Nas and I even own almost every single CD he released.

Yeah, that’s the only ok line I’ve found there. I did listen to every single album, but I didn’t hear a GOAT contender. It wasn’t my intention to imply that you don’t know good lines in general, I should’ve said that you don’t know good lines, IF you call the quoted lines great.
Nas ain’t bad, but I’m tired of him getting praised for all this average shit he’s been on for years.

  57. “I don’t hate Nas and I even own almost every single CD he released.”

    /Troll quote

  58. @Shades of Reality
We should listen to some rappers who aren’t as known as Nas?? You listen to Fucking J. Cole… Right now, who is more popular in main stream world? Dumb ass idiot.. Nas is your favourite rapper’s favourite rapper.

  59. I don’t listen to Cole like that, it was a simple response to that laughable statement. They’re about even.

  60. Somebody needs to smack Shades of Reality for saying tracks on Cole World are better than Ny State of Mind..that song alone has atleast 5 classic quotables in each verse, none of those Cole tracks have memorable quotes and even Lupe knows hes not better than Nas and I think he’s the closest to him in lyricism, he even modeled Food & Liquor after “It Was Written”..Nas “Deja Vu” more lyrical than anything Cole’s ever spit, Cole doesnt even have any thought provoking rhymes he’s just some1 you can relate to..and “Rewind” and “I Gave You Power” are creative storytelling, something Nas and Lupe are way better than Cole at doing..stop overrating Cole, its just going to lead to more haters and make Cole fans look bad

  61. Funny how Shades of Reality says 2 rappers- who have both said multiple times that Nas is their favorite rapper or has a big influence on their style, is better than Nas smh..Nas has influenced more rappers than Jay-Z

  62. NAS, MY SON.

  63. ‘NAS HAS INFLUENCED MORE RAPPERS THAN JAY Z’ <<< TOAST TO THAT

  64. I’ll leave it at that, you guys favor Nas, I have other rappers I like more.

  65. This track is just light exercise for the lungs. Was anyone really expecting crazy memorable quotes? Wait for the rest of the project, it’s insane how worked up a lot of people get over these artists. And the comparisons…..no comment.

  66. Video of the year. Fucking dope.

  67. @Spike Word!!!

  68. represent queen bridge how he still can go back and go back to hes hood and show love ,,,, hes lyrics are on point video in is hometown is dope video and beats ill nas top 3 mcs alive right now ,,,only cuz theres no rims and girls showing they asses and bullshit like that yall are hating mainstream niggas smh

  69. @juice101 your cute. almost as cute as jcoles album. if you combined kittens and ice cream youd get cole. the street side of drake. his album is used to roll weed on. something i can let my girl play in the crib… great for empowering women. grown man music will never be in his silver spoon fed discography.

    comment on my purism bitch.

nas speaks wisdom. something that almost every mc has never been able to portray. especially cole.

  70. Nas still got it!!!
    Follow @trillerthanmost

  71. @ShadesOfReality
You say Rewind sucked?? Ny State of Mind was wack?? Im from the south and Nas is my favorite rapper. Nas has feature verses better than whoever you likes main verses on album so sit down and somewhere and do your fuckin homework. I could list the many rappers Nas has influenced who are in the game right now…

  72. IMO the inspectah ripped this one better

  73. @ShadesOfReality
We didn’t hear dope word play 20 years ago? KRS 1, Freestyle Fellowship, Organize Konfusion, The Pharcyde, Twista aka tongue twista, Nas, Any member of the Juice Crew, GZA aka The Genius, intelligent hoodlum, Busta, the list go’s on and on young hoe. If you don’t know all of these artist I listed I think you should look them up and listen and learn some real word play, and styles that will blow your mind little piggy. GTFOH

  74. nice vid i love nas real live , but he should’ve dropped this video sooner the song is dope, but to me the songs buzz has faded i love the song don’t get me wrong it knocks but this would ‘ve went throught the roof hard in sept. nasty

  75. NASTY NAS IS THE ILLEST!!!!!!! dope ass song and video…

  76. first off, its cray u niggas arguing bout nas right now. the video was tight. nothing special but def had that swag when he was with the kids. shadesreality, as much as i agree with some of ur points, no one will ever give u the time of day if ur gonna shit on nas. when u have the greatest album of all time, u dont get shit on.

however, i love what 4th ear had to say about cole. not fronting or trying to up him or anything, but i think cole is here to stay, and i think hes got that thing going for him like pac. pac is def not one of the most lyrical or best flow or anyting but almost everyone has him in there top lists. its that relatable, emotional, raw factor thats in the music that u just feeel. and i truly thing thats coles calling

    -heyzeus

  77. This dude ShadesOfReality said that Rewind was some shit. -_____- I could break down your whole bullshit argument… But after u make a fucking retarded ass comment like that it clearly shows that you dont know anything about anything. You already lost all credibility. Point blank. People shouldn’t even entertain his trolling

  78. I don’t care what anybody says, this song is a PROBLEM, he bodied it. And the fact the girl from Notorious made a cameo rite when he mentioned her, CLASSIC

  79. WACK! Dis nigga is a str8 cornball!! I dunno y ya’ll kawny ass niggaz fuck wit dis lame ass nigga!! I’d rather listen to a REAL NIGGA like WAKA FLOCKA spit dem FLAMES!! Ya dig?!!

  80. They’re in the projects inside a roach/rat infested apartment and the dude sitting at the table has a Macbook. You gotta love the priorities of the ghetto folks, the same ones who eat off of hard working people like me… smh

  81. Cool video (especially how it ends). You could tell some THOUGHT was behind it.

    Dont say that much anymore…

  82. Why are you arguing? Just enjoy the music. Nas IS one of the greatest MCs of all times it’s a fact, the man been in a game for 20 some years.
Now it’s new era, in 10-15 years everybody will talk about Kendrick Lamar, J.Cole etc. (Don’t know much about upcoming ones) being the GOAT, we’re all different people, it’s pointless to argue about things like who’s the greatest. Just enjoy it and make the world a better place by calming your rage and hate down. Peace ya’ll.

  83. Stop hating, Nas is the greatest.

What I do hate is… they removed the video!! Anyone care to replace that?? :(

  84. overrated? niggas, including myself, wouldn’t rhyme they way we do if it wasn’t for Nas.
