As part of SOHH‘s new Underrated segment, Murs pens an article on why he thinks Juvie deserves the claim.
I love New Orleans rap. I’m the guy that bought every Hot Boys record. I’m the guy who bought every Lil Wayne record before everything. I say the change in Lil Wayne and the evolution, where he’s at in his career, none of that happens without Juvie. Birdman doesn’t happen with Juvie. New Orleans rap doesn’t evolve without Juvie. After reading the entire thing, do y’all agree? If not, who do y’all think is the most underrated? Also… Love & Rockets v.1: The Transformation drops next week and pre-orders are available now.
Misc.

Juve is very underrated(Reality Check is a very underrated album) but it’s no Cash Money without Mannie Fresh. His beats made everything.
i wouldn’t say he is underrated but Juve was the first to blow and kind of paved the way for alot of rappers after him. he’s much realer than wayne or birdman aswell interesting what he has to say about cash money now if you hear him talk.
he basically alludes to the fact that they are a bunch of fags which i agree with 100%
Yea Cash Money is shit without Juvenile and Mannie Fresh. Which is why they use Young Money. Cause Cash Money is expected to have a higher quality of music, but seeing how Juvie is no longer affiliated as well as everyone else they had to rebrand themselves.
It worked. Gotta give them that.
Mannie Fresh is actually fresh & Junevile… I like his style, but the worst rapper ive ever heard man…. is the WHACK ASS MUTHAFUCKIN BIRDMAN.

I agree. I didn’t like him as much as the others, which I don’t really like that much, but I knew that Juve was the “godfather” of the group. There would be no CashMoney without him.
A lot of people consider 400 degreez a classic, cash money was a cool movement for a few years…most underrated rapper of all time tho is Pharoahe Monch…never dropped a wack album ever
Juvenile definitely help make Cash Money into the powerhouse it is today. I’m mean who is to say if 400 Degreez had flopped if Cash Money would still be around today. Juvenile’s success allowed Birdman, Wayne & everybody else to become household names and not just NO rappers.
And a little know fact: If Juvenile had not come back to Cash Money in 03 to drop Juve Tha Great, Wayne’s Tha Carter never happens as is because it forced Wayne to go back into the studio & record most of the records that actually made Tha Carter.
I mean does anyone remember how awful “Get Something” (Wayne first single off Tha Carter before Juve came back) was?
Juve comes back, Wayne is forced to work on new material & “Bring it Back” and “Go DJ” are made.
Not to say Juvenile helped Wayne make those records but I know Wayne felt some type of pressure knowing Juvenile was back as the man in Cash Money & it made Wayne hungrier to be a better artist.
Also though, I liked the Big Tymers when they were out. Birdman actually tried at rapping, and Manny brought the music together. Good chem. So eventhough Juve started it, I feel like Big Tymers kept the movement going for everybody. Feel me?
Soulja Slim should be mentioned before Juvenile
No Limit anyone?? They had NO on the map in the 90′s too. Lets not forget.
why can’t some of y’all stay on subject?! this isn’t about Pharoahe Monch, this isn’t about No Limit, the headline CLEARLY states “Murs on Juvenile’s Contribution to Hip Hop” i bet a lot of you flunkies couldn’t pass 6th grade English with your inability to keep your comments relevant to the subject…smh…
@ Ill Dill/Soulja Slim should be mentioned before any of them New Orleans rappers…”Soulja Life Mentality” >LISTEN TO IT!!!!
