and yes, i do believe jay z is the better rapper but lets be frank, in the real world (not the blogosphere) where most people reside, WAYNE is on top. 950k sold in the first week thats 100k less than the carter 3 and the best first week sale in hip hop since himself. what other levels do rappers have to base off who is the best? the number one criteria is who is selling the most, basically, who has the more loyal, bigger fan base. that clearly is lil wayne right now.

As far as who’s on top, I don’t think Jay is even trying to be the hottest rapper alive any more. He’s been on top or damn close for 15 years straight now, these trendy little rappers aren’t particularly concerning. I mean Lil Wayne is basically just an updated Nelly or Ja Rule, and I don’t think Jay was particularly concerned about them either.
PS- Eminem still outsells Lil Wayne per album, but Wayne’s sales tend to be really front-loaded, so it’s kinda perfect for his ADD fans.
