Introducing… The Brooklyn Nets (Video)

While we’re at it, let’s toast to the memory of the borough of Brooklyn, which will become a mangled mess of high living costs, crippling traffic and gentrification. “Made in America,” indeed.

At a press conference on the future site of the controversial Barclay’s Center this morning, Jay-Z announced that the New Jersey Nets will be renamed the Brooklyn Nets when they take over the building as their new home next year. He also says he’s going to be opening the venue with a special concert series which will begin with an inaugural show on September 28, 2012.

  1. I was born and raised in brooklyn and while this is going to create massive traffic in the already jam packed downtown area this arena is going to do a lot more good things than bad.

ps brooklyn is a borough in the city of new york you douchebag

  2. Fuck, this niiga don’t loose ever!

  3. Meka… what fuck you talking about. You just a visitor in New York… YOu don’t know shit. Your semi-gay ass don’t fit in anyway. Can’t wait to smack the shit out of you.

  4. this interview is hilarious lol. this nigga has no idea how to fake like he cares. and thats ok haha.

  5. meka is the dumbest fucking nigga around, someone should smack your ignorant ass up

  6. Change the name too, Nets is a stupid name anyway.Something more cool, with more pizzazz like The Brooklyn Hustlers or The Brooklyn Bosses….or better yet the Brooklyn Swag. Since Jay invented swag. The Brooklyn Biggies maybe in honor of BIG? I dont know guys, just brainstorming here…I hope Mr.Carter sees this and takes it into consideration.

  7. That might have been top 5 most awkward interviews ever. His face was saying I don’t give a fuck about talking to you and I want to get this over with the entire interview. Jay is a very brilliant business man, but he is also 100% douchebag. The guy just comes off as very unfriendly and disengaging.

  8. Anyway Downtown brooklyn is already fucked up without the this being up. Price of kiving is already shit high, and shit is crowded. while this is gonna compound the problem its not exactly the root of the problem, or the biggest issue.

also niggas used to work at that old navy cross the street from it… (in college, gotta hustle)

  9. Lol everytime he answered a question, it was like an awkward “yeahh”

  10. you people read too deeply into shit that aint there. jay z is very reserved… that’s just his personality… he’s the same in every interview. this was not awkward at all. it was a very good interview in fact. informative and fun. you look for something hard enough you’ll find it even if it was never there

  11. yall swear every damn thing is awkward. I bet yall cant talk to a girl without busting a sweat or getting self conscience. this wasnt awkward at all.

  12. jay proves my soap-box theory…notice the billionaire trend; the way to stack cake is to give back to the community and create jobs by any means even if your original profession was moving units. *shrugs* just saying.

  13. This dude does not like talking about his personal life……but than again who does..?

  14. “I’m moving the Nets, to BK”

  15. this is an awkward

  16. LMAO at “will become”. Maybe not the traffic yet but the other two.

  17. Shit’s inspiring to see people fawn over a guy from the hood that came up. They were really drooling over the man. And he clearly had better shit to do and other places he wouldve rather been… he didnt even wanna stay until the end of the interview. Jay is unfuckwitable

  18. From street hustler to reputable CEO, Mr. Carter’s been handlin’ business with the toughest and the wisest to get where he is now. The man has little patience for corny ass reporters, wasting his time with half-wit jokes and inappropriate questions about his personal life; and the dumb interviewer was answering all of the interviewees questions before asking them. I think all that does make for an awkward interview, but Hov isn’t to blame. Those reporters are just corny.

  19. JxRadxB just summed it up her ass made it awkward shes supposed to be asking some questions about the team then thats it she wastin time tryna get in dudes personal life & singing to him which he doesnt give a damn about JUST ASK THE IMPORTANT QUESTIONS ABOUT THE TEAM, STADIUM, FUTURE BUSINESS PLANS THEN KEEP IT MOVING!
