As many of y’all know, Cole World: The Sideline Story caught the inevitable leak. Cole ain’t worried though. Check what he told VIBE on the matter.
If anything the leak will reach out to more people who might be like ‘ah man, let’s go get this.’ So you know, it’s kind of like promotion these days—if you got a good album. If you don’t have a good album—they’ll just trash you.
There’s been worse leaks than that so I understand it’s apart of the game—I always understood that. As long as people hear it together—it’s cool. I just know that people who are going to buy it were going to buy it anyways and the people who weren’t—probably weren’t anyways.
Amen. So if you’re one of those that are gonna support, September 27th is the date.
Interviews, Video

not even worth downloading for free
Definitely agree with this. Glad artists don’t even get phased by it anymore. I’ll be real, I downloaded & never planned to buy, but who knows after a listen. I also know that the Phonte leaked today but I was buying that regardless. Very mature Cole, you definitely got some added respect for that.
^ idiot. already pre-ordered mine, can’t wait for that FLAC quality.
#ColeWorld
yea. def still buying two copys, ya lames
^^^^hater
I DL’ed it last night then immediately pre-ordered this masterpiece on iTunes. This album is tight…
Jay perfected his flow over electro-beats, I think we are on the cusp of another blueprint-style album from Jay… He practiced with his new flow on BP3 and WTT… but now on Mr Nice Watch it’s clear his flow is “fully cooked”.
Exactly, has nothing to do with only “real fans” wait til the 27th and all that nonsense..as long as you still buy it, thats all that matters
I preordered the physical copy on Amazon. Then preordered it on itunes last night. Its a solid album. Not a classic. But solid.
album’s pretty weak, lotta poppy beats that drown out the bars..few good joints, but definitely disappointing.
shake the haters off. EVERYONE NEEDS TO COP THAT NEXT WEEK!
I’m buying one off iTunes and a physical copy for the car
Preorderd today. Gonna get my copy on Friday. One of the few great things about Germany. xD.
3 copies. 1 for me and 2 for another 2 lops who haven’t found out the truth about cole yet. And i’m ashamed of it, but i downloaded the leak. Just couldn’t resist. Sorry cole
j cole = off brand drake. i give him a year before yall change your minds on this clown. #gayniggas
^ faggot
I downloaded the album in hopes that it would change my mind of him being boring…it didn’t. I might cop his album just to support hip hop, being that everyone complains about no support from people who “hate”, but why should I spend my hard-earned money on an album I find sub-par? His album sounds like another one of his mixtapes, but with more attempts at commercial hits.
Still buying it. Plus, the album already comes out on Friday where I live (Germany).
I love Cole’s mixtapes and consider myself a fan, but this album was pretty underwhelming in my opinion. Only peeped it once so far, but it was pretty boring and Cole sounded very uncomfortable over a lot of these beats. His swag has always been “the rapper who loves rap,” but he’s never had the commanding voice / crazy flow / complex schemes that you need to elevate that swag. So, instead, we get a lot of songs where he’s either talking about going from rags to bitches or attempting love tracks (the latter is especially difficult to listen to).
I don’t know. Maybe this’ll grow on me. It doesn’t seem likely, though.
I was a big Cole fan up until this year when he started releasing some real crappy music and became very arrogant. I don’t really like most of the album, but I pre-ordered a physical copy from Amazon for $12.97 shipped. I’m not a hater who wants to see him fail, I just think his music isn’t good anymore. I respect his grind that he has been on the last few years and his come up. He grew up in the south with no dad and his mom was a drug addict. With that said he was a straight A student who got a scholarship to St. John’s and he got a college degree. Then after that Jay-Z signed him to a recording contract and now he is rich. At this point his story is more impressive than his music, but like I said I supported.
word up to Mes_Cudi, releasing here already on Friday.
I downloaded it just because I really couldn’t wait another week. I’m still going to buy it and after listening to it I’m definitely going to buy it! He definitely earned my ten bucks.
is the album that bad? im waiting till the 27th
^The album is amazing. Every single negative comment that I’ve seen so far is from the same people that have been stalking J. Cole posts for months with nothing but negative shit the whole time. But Cole World is tied for album of the year with Section 80. It might be a bit better.
The album is great… Support real hip hop and purchase the album next week.
Even if you’re not totally blown away by the album buy it anyway! It’s less than $13 to arrive at your crib, that won’t put a hole in your pocket. If you don’t want it just give it to someone else who wants it. It’s inspiring to see someone realize their dream as a teenager growing up and that is why I chose to support Cole. If you’re like me and the actual music doesn’t blow you away just support the dude for the work he put in. He isn’t one of these Drake rappers who had everything handed to them, Cole actually came from nothing.
^”It might be a bit better.”
LOL. j cole fans = delusional, and i dont even like kendrick like that.
I downloaded it. I couldnt resist. I’m still buying a copy next week though. Support this nigga! COLE WORLD.
Album is decent. Good enough for me to go and get the album. Support hip-hop fellas lets get this genre relevant again. Fuck shitty ass music on the radio nowadays.
PS. Rise and Shine is my SHIT. Woke up this morning, played the song on the way to work and was so hype.
@Lysol
Its less conceptual but the songs have much better structure and most of them come together better than S80. And for the record, I haven’t considered myself a J. Cole fan since probably last year sometime. Hop off, it’s an opinion u little douche.
On the leak: It’s kind of like a promotional tool these days if you got a good album” – Cole got a good album. I think the only thing not making it classic is Work Out.
I think Work out effected the order of the tracks massively and didn’t allow Cole to end with a track like gods gift rather then Daddy’s little girl(a quality track but not a swan song). His Intro is epic I would have thought he would have done something similar for the outro.
Saying that Work Out has done what it needed to do in a way. 6m hits on YT in a month and 3rd on 106 and Park. It’s getting there.
“play the game to change the game”
“God’s Gift” is probably the best track, I can only imagine if Jay-Z hopped on the track
Underwhelming album to say the least. Some good joints but its like cole lyrically declined since the warm up. Dollar and a dream 3 was horrible lyrically, but his beats were on point. 6.5/10
AND 2DOPEBOYZ HOW AM I POSTING COMMENTS TOO FAST ? I HAVENT CAME ON THIS BITCH FOR A WEEK, FIX YOUR SITE BITCHES.
WTF weres a link I searched for it and couldnt find anything

What I usually do is download the album for free and purchase the songs I enjoy off Itunes. I’m planning on either buying Phonte’s or Cole’s 12′ record. Leaning a little on Phonte though.
@Stupid Asshole Thumbs up to everything you said.
finally famous – bought
watch the throne – bought
red album – pass
carter iv – pass
cole world – gonna buy the shit out of it
Honestly I was expecting to like Phonte’s album more, but I definitely prefer Cole’s.
ESSENTIAL TRACKS-
PHONTE: The Good Fight, Everything Is Falling Down, Not Here Anymore, Sending My Love, Who Loves You More
J. COLE: Dollar and a Dream 3, Can’t Get Enough, Sideline Story, Nobody’s Perfect, Rise and Shine, God’s Gift, Breakdown, Nothing Lasts Forever
Album leaks mean you got a fanbase…If no one cares for your music, nobody will bother to even leak it. Yeah an artist isnt going to get sales like they used to back in the day but honestly the door was way harder to get into then it is these days. Jay-z got turn down by every label before he was force to make his own and the music he was presenting to these labels was reasonable doubt…consider a classic. Artist have many avenues these to make a profit now other then the album and just cuz a person chooses to download the album first before buying it doesnt mean they arent supporting the artist. You aint in no special club because you decided to buy the album before listening. We didnt have a choice back in the day. If the artist had a good single but had a horrible album then the buyer had to take that lost. Now the roles have reverse, the buyer are given more choices and to me that is a plus.
“The hate in your blood can’t stop your soul from vibin’ with it”
Production was crazy. J. Cole lyrics were aight, but he didn’t slack either. Conceptual wise, I think this was very well put together. I would consider this a modern day hip-hop classic.
people need to understand music changes. for everyone who is still stuck on the Illmatic decade, those days are over. We will never hear an album like Illmatic, Reasonable Doubt, Cuban Linx…etc. again and that’s the truth. The last 2 albums that were universally considered classic were My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and Section.80. but be realistic, does MBDTF even come close to Illmatic lyrically? People need to stop comparing albums to last decade’s music and more of today’s decade of music. If we were still comparing albums to last decade’s albums, Classics would be extinct and the last classic album would be Dre’s 2001 or The Blueprint.
couldnt help but listen to the leak… Definitely…Feelin his album, each song meshes well.. Wasnt feeling the singles he dropped…they felt forced.. was hoping to see #CheerUp get a spot…either way., album will be bought digitally and hard copy..
@Growup
People are gonna download shit regardless but lets not act like downloading is helping the artist cause at the end of the day they are loosing by not getting the money in sales. Alot of people think every artist is just super rich when thats so far from the truth its ridiculous or the think the label keeps all the money which is also not true. Back in the day rappers used to be able to build a career. Now rappers dont have careers no more, they last about three years tops and then disappear because the money aint there. The greatest days of hip hop are more then ten years behind us and thats because of the loss of money.
Losing
@marty yeah drake and nicki hit it big but they had to go past hip-hop to do it…i think it’s a fact that only artists who started in the 90′s go platinum…exception is ye, drake and t.i. i believe
downloads hurt…even kris kross went plat back in the day and they were BEYOND wack…
Well, I’m certainly one of the people who WASN’T going to buy it!!
(clicks free download link)
@ marty
That is not true bruh. Niggaz can still get money off this game. Ex. Wiz Khalifa, dude made what? Like 15 mill this year. He’ll be around for another 5 years, I’m pretty sure. Snoop still relevant and he been around like 20.
Cole World is dope as hell, def gonna cop it
j cole’s target demographic: 12-25 females that buy itunes singles, 2dbz dickriders, dudes that’re too cool to listen to drake
kendrick’s target demographics: rap nerds, bloggers, white people that prefer “lyrical” rap
@Lysol you on that phaggy time? Cole World = classic. getting 2 copies 9/27 1 for me and 1 to educated my dumbass brother. leggo
Why does everything have to be a comparison… If you don’t fuck with Cole or Kendrick than that’s on you, DO YOU fam, listen to your shit bro. The album is def dope but it’s not up for album of the year or anything.
@Kelvin
Mentioned people like Nas and Jayz and Raekwon, now ask yourself where did they get the money from to build a career? If they shit got downloaded in the past they wouldve even made to the early 2000s. @gallis Wiz has a team of people that can set up shows outside of just a hip hop audience and what you dont consider is the cost of what it takes to promote a artist on a mainstream level. Your talking about millions of dollars just to make a artists hot around the world. Now all the people that helped make that happen have to be paid for it and all the factions that help a artist get hot have to also be paid for it. So if a album doesnt go platinum its really a loss at the end of the day because it costed more to have a proper promotional run then what the team got back in sales. Wiz been around for years so he was able to have many loses before he showed up on radar to the mainstream. I didnt even know Wiz existed before Black n Yellow but word is he was already doing huge shows and had a million fans before that so his position and experience is why he made it. But if a artists tries to make some real shit musically now they gotta think about the loss they have to take because that sound aint really being bought. @Kelvin said also that the sound of the past will never work again and I can see why he said that but if thats the case then Jay Electronica is gonna be a huge failure. I think if promoted correctly a super lyrical artist would sell just like Wayne and Drake and probably more.
Cole Won, He got niggas who hate him writing ESSAYS expressing they self LMAO. Cole Eatin
@Marty McFly
i don’t think you’re arguing the same thing as i am. i’m talking about what is considered a classic and what is not. lol
This is going to be a great album and I will purchase it. But nothing will top the warm up.
back in the days…leaks were better known as bootlegs. hip hop and other music genres was always a victim to the bootleggers. the only difference today is the quality from digital copies. it’s an easier access with the same illegal intentions. you can download a 320kb of an mp3 album and keep your money for a rainy day. back then, bootleg cassette tapes, records and cds was scattered everywhere from corner store bodegas to flea markets. if a new joint was leaked, you had to pay no matter what to see if the joint was dope. nowadayz, in a matter of 2 mins you can DL a file and get an instant reaction and opinion. everything comes down to you, if you want to support or not support an artist. if you really want to support an artist go to his or hers concert. that’s where the real money is really made from. records sales just adds ego and arrogance to the artists, especially the niggaz in the rap game.
A. HOLE YOU PAPOOSED YOURSELF!!!©
It’ll be nice after September 27th when I can go to a J. Cole post without seeing marty mcfly hanging out writing books and sneak dissing. I mean, you ARE gonna quit stalking the dude after the album, right mcfly?
Downloading the album now or buying it next week doesn’t make you more or less of a fan; overall it’s nice, I wasn’t disappointed at all.
The best beat he made this year is on Kendrick’s album. That should tell you all you need to know about Sideline Story.
if i wasnt overseas id prolly wait till 27th to get the physical copy…but instead imma DL now, and prolly not reimburse cole till december, sorry cole, you gon’ ahve to wait….#COLEWORLD
@Kelvin
No I get what your saying and I cant say your wrong but im just saying there is always at least one exception to almost every rule out there. If somebody came out with the sound of Illmatic or OB4CL it would be hard to make that kind of artists hot but not impossible because the sound of OB4CL2 will destroy all this other rap shit but its was just marketed as a underground album so thats how it was treated by fans. If you take a lyrically underground Mc and put them on the same stage as Drake and Ross then people have no choice but to notice that Mc and with the right single I believe that you can have a album thats classic and embodies all the things that made those albums from back in the day classic ( IT JUST HAS TO BE UPGRADED MUSICALLY ). Lupe made Lasers ( against his will in many aspects ) in order to position himself to be able smash on commercial music with that underground shit. Which is why F&L2 is in the oven right now getting cooked up. @Delorean im not even really talking about J Cole that much and if you are referencing my comments to him? Then im basically saying to buy his shit.
someone actually point me to the cole song that doesn’t sound like a rejected drake b-side?
@Lysol dont even bring drakes whining soft ass in this post, CWTSLS>>>>TML
@lysol
LOST ONES. conversation over.
good album not a classic though i personally dont think it will be timeless but it had some dope joints on there i think his mixtapes were a little better because he was hungrier he wanted it more too many skippable tracks on the album still buying my copy from the store when it comes out though
@Lysol
Every single song on Cole World is better than every single song on Thank Me Later. This is fact.
Album’s pretty good. I like the techno stuff less, but still not bad. Some serious lyrics and even moreso, beats. Most importantly, Jay Elec is now up to bat.
@FUCKYM
LOL this some the gayest shit ever. this some emotional shit. i can see why all yall nerds can relate to this gayniggashit. mad feminine.
@Marty McFly
but still, Section.80 was not a commercial hit, but why do we consider that a classic?
MBDTF was a commercial hit, and wasn’t lyrically close to anything, considering the fact he didn’t really rap on 3 songs and 2 skits, but why do we consider that a classic?
if you look at the albums dropped in the past couple of years, Cole World is at the top of the heap.
and when i say at the top of the heap, i don’t necessarily mean Cole World is the BEST album. just it’s one of the top albums.
@Lysol so never havin a father around is some “gayniggasshit”?, or a song about abortion is some “gayniggashit”?, That right there proves to me you dont know shit about my music in general/subject matter, no one should take this faggot serious, OFF YA SELF
i did notice that while cole’s lyrics were on point, he just wasnt trying to rip every track like on the come up or warm up. FNL was good too but he was rapping a little more relaxed. next album like i’ve said before i hope he just goes in. you can have subject matter and still rip beats to shreds
Remember when Eminem “Slim Shady LP” came out and everyone shitted on it! Then years later it became a CLASSIC. only time will tell.
@FUCKYM lotsa peeps dont have dads or had abortions, doesnt mean i wanna hear some vanilla nigga rap about it. im familiar with both, but this some pink ipod mini raps right here. EMBARRASSING.
@FUCKYM
No, it’s so much cooler and tougher to sing about the many, MANY times you’ve been emotionally hurt… or the girls that don’t respect you… or the way that money and fame confuse you about who really loves you… you know, like Drake does it.
@Lysol what you dont get is that this shit is stuff niggas can RELATE TO, it might be wack to you but majority of niggas can relate to it and i never went through no abortion shit but i RESPECT the song and how he went about with it, if you cant see the message in his songs your not gonna get it.
@Kelvin
I dont consider Section 80 a classic so I cant really speak on it like it is even though Hiiipower is one of the best songs this year. People consider MBDTF a classic because it has a closed off sound. Meaning the only way you can hear that sound is to get that album because no other mainstream album out that year or even this year or in the next ten years will sound like that. There aint no other album that has the same sound as Power, Devil in a New Dress, All the Lights , So Appalled and Gorgeous all on one album. For me either classic albums are so great they totally smash the competition and influence the sound of everything else or they have music on it that sounds completely different from everything and is timeless. Or lastly if its a great concept album like American Gangster because the 2nd song doesnt make sense without the first and so forth because all the songs connect cause its based off the story line of the film but also stays true to Jays own story. Those are the only three options imo that can produce a classic.
I’ll admit that I thought it was boring at first listen…
but give it another few, track by track, and it gets A LOT better
Top three songs (aside from CGE which is a dope single)
Gods Gift
Daddys Little Girl
Nobodys Perfect
COLE WORLD
wtf? this album wasnt even that good and people still going on with “top of the heap” “great album since blueprint” “classic” lol cole sounds like a B-side drake. and TML>>COLE WORLD, that says alot. cole fans are delusional, you are not a hiphop fan if you ONLY listen to hip hop, YOU NARROWCASTING ASS bitches.
The Warm Up was so dope cause that was really cole’s first album but sideline story got some gems u can’t deny! Im copping cause its way better than wat alot of these niggas is putting out and da man hustled to get to dis point! We are truly the ones killing hiphop with such harsh comments about the people who represent us! We will never be able to compete with pop and country. Sorry for a long boring paragraph jus thinking to myself. Dope Debut from Cole though,FUCK HIPHOP FANS
@FUCKYM you must be a sad lonley nigga then. like ive heard many songs about Abortion, AND HIS MUSIC IS JUST BORING. yes it has a message but the way he illustrates is not favorable, its almost like he’s confused and he jumps from topic to topic and message to message that by the end of the song you don’t know what you feel or what you think of it. its suppose to be organized, cole world is just a slap in the face. sounds like a commercial mixtape where he tried to have hits but failed. iv’e listened through it like 5 times by now and i find my self skipping songs. now i only embrace 5-6 songs, thats it. album is a 7.5/10
It’s hard fighting the temptation of downloading albums you wait a long time for. I’ll stick with believing it surpasses being purchase worthy and wait. First time around I felt underwhelmed by Mr. Nice Watch, but it grew on me.
^it works SO much better in the context of the album
The crazy arguments on here always entertain me but I think sometimes people need to relax about it just a bit. I understand your passion for or against a certain artist but there is no real need to get so mad about any of it.
‘STOP LIKING THINGS I DON’T LIKE’.
‘STOP LIKING THINGS I DON’T LIKE’.
‘STOP LIKING THINGS I DON’T LIKE’.
‘STOP LIKING THINGS I DON’T LIKE’
I LISTENED TO IT AND I LIKED IT A LOT. A LOT OF PEOPLE WERE TALKING ABOUT HOW THE ALBUM WAS GOING TO BE GARBAGE AND THAT IT WOULDN’T HAVE THE SAME SONG TYPE OF FEEL LIKE THAT FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS DID. EHH MOST OF THE HATE COMES FROM THE INTERNET BLOGS WOULDN’T BE SURPRISED IF IF WAS THE SAME 10 OR 20 PEOPLE THAT COMMENT ON ALL THE BLOGS WITH THE SAME SHIT TRYING TO BE DIFFERENT BY NOT LIKING WHAT THE REST OF THE PEOPLE ON THE INTERNET LIKES. AND THE SAME BLOGS THAT TALK SHIT ABOUT CARTER 4 AND WATCH THE THRONE LOL BOTH PLATINUM ALBUMS (BUT BOTH BY ARTISTS AND LABELS THAT BOUGHT 750,000 COPIES OF THE ALBUM xD). I LIKED THE ALBUM BETTER THAN WIZ KHALIFA’S AND BIG SEAN’S AND WILL BE DEFINATLY BUYING A HARD COPY OF IT. I DON’T THINK IT’LL BE HIP-HOP ALBUM OF THE YEAR SINCE WE ALL KNOW SOMEONE LIKE JAY/YE, LIL WAYNE OR FUCKING EMINEM WILL WIN IT. GOLBLIN WAS A PRETTY FUCKING GREAT ALBUM (NOT EVEN THAT BIG OF A TYLER THE CREATOR FAN) AND I ENJOYED IT MORE THAN COLE’S ALSO KENDRICK LAMAR’S ALBUM WAS BETTER THAN COLE’S BUT COLE’S WAS PRETTY GOOD, NOT NO ILLMATIC LMAO BUT IT WAS A PRETTY GOOD DEBUT ALBUM
thanks for yelling…
KTT FAM
ILL IS A BITCH FOR LEAKING LOST ONES
COLE WORLD, NO DREAMVILLAIN HATIN ASS NIGGUH
BEST ALBUM SINCE THRILLER
im buying 3. one for you. one for me. and one for your mom.
I finally listened to the whole album. Are you niggas seriously hating on this? What the fuck is wrong with you? The entire album is fire. What more could you want? I swear there is no pleasing 2dopeboyz haters. I’m buying a copy next week. I hope J. Cole sells. He deserves it!
1. Intro – This is a good opening for such an anticipated album. The piano here is blissful and Cole spits a few lines that make you connect with him.
Rating: 5/5
2. Dollar And A Dream 3 – A third installment of Cole’s “Dollar And A Dream” collection, where the first and second songs are placed on Jermaine’s Warm Up mixtape and Friday Night Light mixtape, respectively. I like that Intro blends into this track and then, midway, there’s a great beat change. Cole spits with a great amount of emotion and makes you feel where he’s coming from. Definately a good standout track and a great way to start off the album.
Rating: 5/5
3. Can’t Get Enough (Feat Trey Songz) – Second single for the album, armed with “Brian Kidd” production. I usually don’t like Trigga much, but I think he does this hook justice. I liked the sample of this song and just the overall feel of it! Don’t really understand the hate around this track; Cole’s verses are on par lyrically, addictive hook, not to mention this is a pretty creative single. Especially since we now live in a world where singles are either “Lex Luger based” or on some Pitbull/Neyo shit.
Rating: 4/5
4. Lights Please (Album Version) – Classic J. Cole song from his “Warm Up” tape. A lot of fans are a bit baffled with this being on the album, but it makes sense. After all, it was the song that got him signed to RocNation. Add that with the fact that not many “mainstream” people have heard this song, its a sure on this album. I especially love that he tweaked some things on this, making it even better than before…
Rating: 5/5
5. Interlude – More blissful piano keys and pretty much explains the story of when Cole was pulled over moments after he learned that Jay had accepted him into the Roc.
Rating: 4/5
6. Sideline Story – The pianos of the interlude blends into this track and gives it a soulful and understanding feel. Cole pretty much expresses his distaste for the “sidelines” and asks for someone to give him some kind of guideline. Relatable, among other things.
Rating: 4/5
7. Mr. Nice Watch (feat Jay-Z) – Lemme just say, before I start this…I’m not that big of a Jay-Z fan nowadays. To me, he’s kind of fallen off. That said, he completely murked this song! Better than a big percent of his verses on Watch The Throne (IMO). Now, to the rest of the track…this isn’t as bad as some people on the blogs are making it out to be. Cole delivers on his second verse, the beat is just great (seeming as I’ve recently started to adore these types of beats) and the hook is catchy and has meaning…if you actually listen. Still prefer the Cleaner Version over the Dirty Version. Just like with “My Last”.
Rating: 5/5
8. Cole World – Now this is some hype ass shit. I mean, you may not feel that sentiment if you’re from the North or somethin’. But I’m from the South…where these kind of tracks dominate our music. This is a hype ass track; just straight spittin’. LMAO @ Some of the Rick Ross adlibs in this though!
Rating: 4/5
9. In The Morning (feat Drake) (Album Version) – A sensual type of track from Cole’s “Friday Night Lights” tape. Jermaine and Drake both kill this track and the beat really carries the mood of “Can I hit it in the mornin’?” Some people criticize drake’s voice here, but I think it was coo’. Sounds like it would sound in the morning. (Pause?)
Rating: 4/5
10. Lost Ones – Perspective kind of track where Cole spits from both sides of the Abortion “Table”. Third verse, he pretty much just destroys it and lays the final potent layer for this track. In a kind of sideline, fuck Abortion. I just find it stupid how someone can kill off their own seed… I mean, even if you can’t care for the child properly, there’s always the option of putting it up for Adoption…
Rating: 5/5
11. Nobody’s Perfect (feat Missy Elliot) – The beat started to confuse me in the beginning, but eventually grew into something fantastic. Missy (I still kinda wanted a Lauryn Hill collab, but whateva.) lays a great hook and just kills it. Has a good R&B feel to it. Just wish Missy had added one of her own verses to the melody, because (IMO) her recent verses have been cool.
Rating: 4/5
12. Never Told – Production gets handled by No I.D. and is, honestly, better than some of his beats on “Finally Famous” . Cole has a pretty good flow and the message will connect with a lot of people.
Rating: 5/5
13. Rise And Shine – Another great standout on this album. Has a very tough feel to it and Cole spits bars on bars. Note to Every Cole Fan: Never Skip This Song. Period. The soulful sounds, the trumpets, just everything. It’s just too good.
Rating: 5/5
14. God’s Gift – A few weeks ago, the live version of this leaked and it had everyone buzzin’. Although I didn’t listen to it then, I promised myself that I would wait until the album. And it was very much worth it. Some cold verses are spit here and really feels like it would have an areana boomin’. Surprised that Jay didn’t jump onto this track, like he was supposed to. Aw well, his lose.
Rating: 5/5
15. Breakdown – Sometimes we just wanna break down. We wanna just stop livin’ and, somehow, stop the pain and the spiritual beating we receive. For some of us, that experience happens daily. Cole speaks to his listeners again and lowers himself to tell us that “even he breaks down sometimes” and ends the song by telling us not to do what he’s doing. Don’t breakdown.
Rating: 5/5
BONUS TRACKS-
WorkOut – The First single for the album. Obviously, it didn’t stick that well, which is why it has become a bonus. But I still think that the sampling here is dope, as well as the bass, the second verse, and the Paula Abdul interpole. Plus this song is in the Top 5 on 106 & Park, so maybe it’s doing good for Cole.
Rating: 3/5
Nothing Lasts Forever – A great song for me. The hook is kind of catchy and Cole manages to capture the essense of “Soul” once again. It could go either way for some people, but IMO…
Rating: 4/5
Daddy’s Little Girl – Sorry for comparing the two, but this is a lot like Cole’s “Keisha’s Song”. Although Kendrick’s song was spit with more emotion, let’s not cut CCole out of the equation just yet.
Rating: 4/5
Honestly, this was a very good album. I’m not a “Stan” by any means, but this could very well be called a classic a few years from now. It is definately better than most of the debut albums in the past two years. Not to say that guys like Drake and Big Sean had bad albums, because they surely didn’t. But, let’s be honest for a second: Thank Me Later was a bit of a disappointment to most Drake fans. And Sean, although his album had some great and enjoyable songs, reused some lines in some songs and the tracklist made it seem like it was just…thrown together. As for this album, every song flows and the topics are creative for an MC of the New school. Granted, some of these subject have been touched before (ie, Lost Ones), but what other mainstream newbie is speaking on these kinds of things?
As well as this, J. Cole seems to be seriously improving production-Wise. “HiiiPower” and “Bad Girls Club” were the hints, but I was really surprised with these beats. I can honestly, say that the production barely faltered on this CD.
Although the haters and detractors will surely never stop (Apparently, A.Hole is still “Papoosing” himself with an actual album out), that only means more success for Cole. I honestly doubt the reviews for this will be anything below good or great. I’ll do something I normally don’t do and say… #ColeWorld #NoBlanket
Final Rating: 4.5/5
I also notice that the only people hating on this album on this blog are dmv, NYC/BK (obviously), and this Lysol dude.
Everyone, don’t feed the trolls.
Leaks are a gift and a curse. What Cole is saying is true, but leaks give you a chance to hear the shit before supporting the artist. Can’t count how many weak ass albums I bought over the years or sub-par quality wasting money. But where these artists go wrong about these leaks is by dropping all the damn singles and unofficial singles and snippets and shit months before the album. By the time the album comes around all the shit they’ve dropped is either forgettable or has been played out, creating skippable tracks on an album for the already short attention span of the rap fan. Artist after artist keeps doing the same shit, following the same weak formula not realizing that eventually all the shit will leak and you don’t have the mainstream stature to do that kind of shit. When will the first artist break from that shit who knows. Only rapper that has interesting situation is Jay Electronica. Everybody gets salty about the lack of material, but that shit will ultimately work in his favor, solidifying his presence amongst fans that stalk blogs all day long, the rest is penetrating mainstream. I read a comment above that Electronica has the chance to sell more than a Wayne or Drake if promoted right, that’s a long shot like a muafucka I think, especially if he stays true to the shit he’s been putting out. Most likely critically acclaimed though. This cole shit alright though. After a few spins shit growing on me. Songs where he’s not talking about the same ol rap shit is where he shines. If you don’t stan out on shit you’ll do yourself a favor when listening to music.
Pauly Dee weren’t u one of those haters just a few days ago?? FUCK OUTTA HERE!

@JAYP why do you even care what that fool even says? hes just a desperate little fuck #justsayin. fuck all your opinions, good or bad, this shit bangs. COLE WORLD
@ asi Didi the irony of you leaving an opinion makes you an idiot.
@ smh : i really, really wish i gave fuck about what you said, i dont want no troubles with internet gangstas. oooohh youuuu bad ! COLE WORLD. but you didnt get the message of my post. NYC gotta have 2dopeboyz his homepage waitin for any cole post to rag on. i see the dude yib yabbering bout the same non sense, like his opinion matters hahaha. as though its going to change the real fan’s minds. yall are comedy to me.TRUTH.
Best…Rap…Fuck that…Music Album of All..Time. J Cole has no doubt crafted a masterpiece. When he compared this album to Blueprint he was not kidding. But this album is even..better that BP or Illmatic, Cuban Linx, Sgt. Pepper, What’s Goin On, Etc… J Cole IS a musical god. He surpasses Kurt Cobain and Pac in his lyrical content, skills, album covers and fashion sense. Not to mention the beats he crafts. Producers like J Dilla, RZA, Timbaland and Quincy Jones could all learn from the master who is Jermaine Cole. Cannot wait to hear what he comes up with in the future. I know some people say he is overrated, boring, mediocre, lame and a symbol of hip-hop’s lax standards of what/who is dope. To those people I say nonsense; J Cole transcends hip-hop, with this album he has proven that he deserves his status of show business icon.
@ asi Didi
LMAO holy shit! do you hear yourself rhyming lol? how can you listen to cole and still approach a mic lol? and your twitter dryer than your chick lmao! vanquish yourself!
I like the album so far all the projects of this year wasn’t what everyone thought they’d be so I’m coping with it. Just enjoy the good music and support whoever you thought was the best for me though that’ll be Kendrick Lamar, The Game, J. Cole, Kanye, and Jay-Z.

@ goodgrief: im just getting started, what you doin besides hatin ? and wow internet nerds making judgements off twitta, smack yoself ! come @ me dawg with your raps if you need be, ill murder you.
The Warm Up >>> Cole World
woah woah there sport, think it was the great asi Didi who once said… “really wish i gave fuck about what you said, i dont want no troubles with internet gangstas”. Out.
@dmv
When have I ever sounded like a Stan? And why am I “fake” just because I like Kendrick Lamar and Cole too? Get the fuck out,troll.
You can’t compare Section.80 and J.Cole. Different aim, different subject matter, different production. Niggas need to stop ”comparing” shit. It gets annoying. For me, being a LA nigga, Section 80 is the dopest shit I heard all year. But Cole’s album is super dope and I’m def finna cop. So y’all need to stop comparing ’cause 2011 a great year for Music. Take Care, Section80 and Cole World. Peace
The album is on pre-order on iTunes, so buy that shit! Same people who will ask him to sign your blank CD, “nigga please, an album 10 dollars you act like it’s 10 G’s!”
^Yes that’s from a song bitch-ass-complaining nigga I know will talk shit!
I love the album. Met my expectations and more. I don’t understand how any Cole fan can be disappointed with this CD, anyone who thinks it’s mediocre was probably a hater to begin with.
I’m worried about the radio prospects and long-term sales, though. I can’t point to a song on the album that I could imagine in the top 40. I hope I’m wrong. J. Cole needs to get more features on his hooks for the future–the Missy Elliot one worked out surprisingly well.
Cole got himself a dope first album, for 17 tracks (plus 2 intro’s), I found it easy to listen to, good flows, beats, I don’t know why so many people are hating though. I agree with what maru’s saying tho.
@pauly dee lmao there u go, first you come at me with some irrelevant shit and act like your not a stan. what a little bitch lol, the fact that i stated an opinion about what cole should work on and what he should be better at you went straight to me and knocked me for doing stateing an opinion. do something with yourself dick wad.
EV is here: Cats & Dogs>Cole World
Album Sounded Like A mixtape .
he needs to drop ” Nobody’s perfect” as a single… her name alone will get the attention..and the average radio listener doesnt give a fuck about much when it comes to music… just a good beat, and a co-sign…and that song has that and more..
Dmv uses “Dick Wad” you lost nigga smfh, good album by the way, gonna cop 2 now
calm down children…everybody on their monthly cycle with all this bickering.
As a long time Cole fan and someone who thought this was gonna be disappointing I was pleasantly surprised at how solid, consistent and dope this is. Fuck everybody’s opinion including my own, go in with no expectations and listen to the album and form your own opinion. At the very least I will say it’s worth a listening to and get some headphones when you do. All that said, I will be buying this when it drops.
I downloaded the leak…still buying the album for my car…It is great
where everyone download music at besides hulkshare or mediafire?
“the people that were gonna buy it, were gonna buy it anyways.”
so true. Cole’s a smart dude.
what leak website for disc
Lysol take your ass back to that Mad Real World skit form the chappele show. These haters are going to feel so foolish. J.Cole is establishing himself as a legend. Please quote me.
