J. Cole – Cole World: The Sideline Story (Snippets)

Design: Alex Haldi (for Bestest Asbestos). Photo: Leann Mueller.

With the release date just two weeks away (September 27th for the folks living under a rock), Amazon put up snippets to each track off Cole’s major label debut. Damn, it would have been dope if Hov jumped on God’s Gift as planned.

  8. Somebody leak this shit

  9. @Dino lmao chill im just joking im mocking those ppl on worldstar

  10. & cole putting Lights Please & In The Morning is kind of reminiscent of 50 putting 2 old ass singles on that mobb deep tape, knowing that shit aint got no other hits on it. SMH. Cmon Jermaine.

  11. Gonna pass on the listening to the snippets. I’ll just listen to the album in full now.

  12. This album wont be no damn classic but from what i am hearing it will be a SOLID AND GOOD ASS ALBUM to fuck with. Just Support GOOD MUSIC, stop the hating for no reason, if you hate the man dont cop it and dont write paragraphs expressing your hate towards him, just dint post shit and thumbs down. Im copping 2 albums for support everything sounds DOPE AS FUCK except “Work out” and “in the morning” everything else sounds like fucking fire. 9/27 !!

  13. Cosign @ Dreamville

  14. My only question is why did he put on In The Morning?? Why didn’t he put on Before I’m Gone or Higher. Just a simple question

  15. this is some bullshit, wtf j cole.

  16. nobody’s perfect sounds awesome to ride to

  17. Whos the dumbass who said “lost ones” the only one that sounding good ?? are you deaf Dollar and a dream 3, breakdown, gods gift, cole world, never told, rise and shine, and nobodys perfect all sound fucking dope to the maximum. This shit will be better than big sean and wiz’s debut album COMBINED… guaranteed, big seans album had a few good songs, coles album looking like it has a good amount of good quality shit. #Coleworld

  18. Jay-Z a lame for not getting on God’s Gift.

  19. These snippets restored faith Cole. Somebody gotta leak God’s Gift.

  20. You cant tell people to stop hating but not tell people to stop dickriding.

  21. did you hear those snippets Dollar and a dream 3, breakdown, gods gift, cole world, never told, rise and shine, and nobodys perfect sounds nice i see he left good song for the album

  22. Phonte Charity Starts At Home snippets are out too! ALSO FIRE!

  23. this shit is not more than average which had been super-mega-hyped here for times.

  24. lol @ people already being “disappointed” from snippets.

  25. Cosign @ MyFiddyCents

  26. fuck is wrong with some of yall, shit is sounding proper, classic cole but on a higher level

can’t wait to hear the song in its entirity

  27. Cole has 7 legit “that old cole” we all used to love songs on his fucking album, i knew cole album wasnt gonna be filled up with work out type songs, 7 new dope songs plus lights please and lost ones = a good album. only bullshit songs on there is workout and cant get enough but other than that it looks ok and i hated cole for a minute but i will be buying this, snips sound nice

  28. People say their dissappointed but still are going to download this album or buy it… stop hating you know your all going to do it.

  29. I’m not going to listen to the snippets cause i want to hear the whole album. but if your disappointed in snippets than your just dumb. now let me go pick up my copy of gears 3 in NY

  30. This album is gonna be solid….from what iHear better than Drake’s TML, don’t understand the hate from some of u guys. He’s still sorta new 2 the game. Let him adapt, damn.

  31. That track “Sideline Story” sounds especially dope! I don’t care what u hating-underground-loving niggas is saying this shit sounds like a solid album. Yall got Illmatic expectations when even NaS can’t live up to that kinda shit. Yall need to be appreciative that there r MCs like Cole out here bringing that real

  32. Mr. Nice Watch blows… Memphis Cole needs his old flow that got all of us riding with him back. dude needs to stop pouting on all his tracks tho. I hope he gets big but then what’s he gonna rap about?

  33. Yall sum fags….. It’s Friday, go out and get some pussy instead of hating on dude. Snippets don’t do justice to an album……

  34. If Nas could make Illmatics everytime he dropped an album, there’d be no need for any other rapper ever.

  35. No judgment on snippets.. but this means that album will leak any day now. I expect a good album, it’s his first lp, so expecting a classic is too much..

  36. Disappointing.
    …jcole is done….
yall drummed up lupe…he made lasers ..embarressed himself and disappeard…
yall drummed up bob…he made a album wit some airplane crap…and disappeard shortly aftr
Yall Drummed up cole….he will drop this and yall will drumm it up and forget abt after the release…
CSECTION = FULL OF TEMPORARY RETARDS

  37. big fan but dont dig the snippets at all def not gonna be a classic.11

  38. loved the snippets right?? then this nigga says ” Cole heatin’ up like that left over lasaugna ” I quit

  39. LEAK? lol

  40. being disappointed by snippets is like calling an album classic off of snippets… fucking retarded.

  41. its okay to be disappointed or excited. but calling an album wack or classic based off snippets is retarded. u havent even heard the album yet and you already reviewing it? its okay to to say shit sounds promising or dissappointing… but dont call shit wack or classic off of snippets.

  42. Cosign @Derr

  43. The album cover says it all. Feels like J. Cole was sitting during the whole recording of this album. He needed to just go for it on his debut. I was rooting for him.

I know I can’t judge completely on snippets, but they do tell something about an album and man was this an underwhelming preview.

  44. Damn I’m disappointed. No doubt I’ll like the album but I’d probably much rather listen to The Warm Up haha. It’s not that the album is bad it’s just that Cole is capable of a lot more. Album’ll probably be average at best.

  45. THIS SHIT SOUNDS LIKE CRACK! Man I can’t wait 2 purchase dis. Was gon buy this and KRIT, but since KRIT’s pushed back, ima buy 2 copies of this. COLE WORLD

  46. for real my niggas this is a very good album stop hatin

  47. “You hated before you played, I already forgave”…. The snippets werent that great but I kno the album is gonna top-notch, I think he shoulda left out some of the old tracks so it feels like it has its own substances from his other material but on the another note #ColeWorld

  48. We all know what this album is gonna be for the most part now that the snippets are out there. The album will be good and his intentions are what makes it that way due to a few gems on the album but as far as being the next Pac or Nas? NO. With that being said J Cole = The artist with the most pros and cons and with the most potential in 2011. I say that cause all the tools were there to make a huge impact. The promotion time 08 till now, the political muscle ( jayz ) , the fan base , the hype and the skills but somewhere along the line things changed. The singles should have complimented the overall nature of the album but you already knew that. This album still isnt out so maybe things will change again a month from now but I think this should be a lesson to people trying to make radio crossovers when their heart is really telling them not to. Stick to your guns. The album will sound good to people who have no knowledge of any of Coles music and are hearing him for the first time and alot of this whole shit is not just on J Cole but on how he was marketed but for all the real hip hop heads? It wont move them much because the singles and the old songs took some of the strength out of it and watered it down with fillers instead of more gems. Pretend you never heard the best songs of his mixtapes and then mix them with the album and we probably would have got a real classic. Up next Jay Electronica…

  49. thumbs down… cant wait for the album, but i dont want to ruin it. Cole World

  50. It’s not hating it’s stating your opinion and I agree I was expecting better music. But I did check out Phonte’s snippets and that album sounds just the way I thought it would which is amazing if I had to pick which one to buy just off the snippets Phonte easily has the better album. I’m a cole fan but it just doesn’t sound the way I thought it would

  51. Thus isnt a classuc witch means he will never put out a classic, jayz, kanye, snoop, uce cube,dr dre, outkast, pac, biggie, pun, nas , all classic came first album when your most hungry, j.cole fans ruined that by treating him like he already put out classic so cole will never b that hungry .

  52. @Dmd

Those artists did have to be pressured into that. Just because your first album is classic doesn’t mean you’re agood artist and just because you don’t have a first debut classic doesn’t mean you won’t have classics later on. Take, Drake for instance. He doesn’t have a classic album to his name. But he has classic songs and material and its only soon that he drops a classic album (shit, that may be Take Care).

As for these snippets, they sound beast. Especially Sideline Story and God’s Gift. Overall, I think this will be a GOOD and solid debut album. Too early to call it classic, but you never know. But something I DO know is that when the album DOES drop and I need a good review for it, I won’t go to 2DBZ. I’ll go to DJBooth, HHDX, Rolling Stone, or any other respected reviewers.

BTW, can anyone explain to me how J.Cole “Papoosed” himself if Papoose never put out an album and Cole is….?

  53. It sounds like a solid album , I can’t judge a album off 30 secs snippets. Its sounds like the usually shit he puts out except the singles.
Regardless how anyone feels it will shit on the carter 4.
    *THANK YOU BASEDGOD*

  54. Honestly all the albums people label “classic” were not considered classics when released. Example, when Illmatic dropped in 94 it was just a dope and raw album. Game changing? No. In fact, people were saying he was jocking Rakim’s style. But 2 da younger heads, it’s a classic. Time makes an album classic. So for now people need 2 take this album 4 what it is, a dope album. Doesn’t need 2 change the game

  55. @Pauly Dee lmfao exactly yall can dead that “You PAPOOSED YOURSELF !” shit now since coles album is coming out,At one point in coles career he was like pap as for being on the mixtape scene but cole expanded more than pap ever did, with videos, show appereances, radio etc…lol

  56. Cole needs to give up producing…not just because he doesn’t have that “IT” factor when it comes to production but also…he needs an experienced dope producer to push him & coordinate his album in the right direction like a Buckwild, No ID, Large Pro would, just off the snippets alone, u can tell the album sounds throne together.

  57. I think its funny … Cause he’s about to blow up on a mainstream and now EVERYONE is hating on him. Just like every other rapper.

Once rappers try to crossover the “underground” listeners give up on the artist.

I’m a big fan, I’m bummed songs like Wet Dreams and Night Rider didn’t make the album but its still gonna be better then Wiz, Drake or anyother new comers out! Buy the album or don’t its dropping!

  58. yo i co-sign Doney ^^ people got way to much expectations and shit these days leaving themselves disappointed with even their favourite’s albums. shits gettin old faggots.

  59. half you niggas here BOUGHT shitty ass CARTER 4, you shouldn’t even have a damn say to what sounds good or not LMFAO. Only white little girls and people who dont know shit about real music bought that shitty carter 4 FOH

  60. Also Kendrick is up next to get hated on,i see niggas already saying he the “next” something, watch when he start fuckin up niggas gonna turn on him just like with cole im callin it now, FUCKIN HIP HOP fans i swear lmfao

  61. Cosign @ FuckYM. Even Rock fans aren’t like this.

  62. @FUCKYM

There’s no pleasing hip hop fans. Ever. Artists just gotta do it for themselves and their dedicated fans who appreciate the music they put out and everything else will fall in place. Blog comments don’t mean shit.

  63. Attention Deficit: Part 2: The Sideline Story

  64. Nope not at all @Widescreen…

  65. ^^^……what? thats like so fuckin stupid its not even funny to make fun of

  66. Nope not at all @Widescreen

  67. this is dissapointing. im crying. dude mite be done ,

  68. J.Cole Listening Session Album Review:

“J. Cole grabbed the mic and thanked everyone for coming and proceeded by telling us how the whole event will take place. Mr. Cole was a little worried about someone sneaking in a video camera to capture footage of songs (which would be able to record the songs) but it seemed like everyone was very respectful. Then the event began. Check after the jump for the full-length review track-by-track.

    J. Cole began the night with the first track of the album:

1.“Intro”: This record began beautifully as every “Intro” track J. Cole has ever produced. The harmony of the piano began slowly as your hear J. Cole’s voice speaking to someone else within the recording studio. The lyricism was so heart-warming and you can just feel, emotionally, what J. Cole was rapping about.

Then the song went straight into:

    2. “Dollar & A Dream III” – The instrumentals of “Intro” were mixed into the beginning of this song and all you can hear is the instrumental of Harps playing in the back. The beat is so soothing and had such a great feeling type-of-sound especially coming from the Co-Productions of The University & J. Cole. The first words into the song is the same hook J. Cole used in “Dollar & A Dream II”…” I got a dolla and a dream, real niggas on my team/ Everything ain’t what it seems”…Then he goes into the verse with such power and command. This song just makes your whole body bop to the beat. The crowd was loving it.

    3. “Can’t Get Enough” ft. Trey Songz – J. Cole explains to the crowd how he met Brian Kidd and how NO I.D. described Brian as being a guy who lived in a snow cabin in the mountains who just produces beats all day but Mr. Kidd actually lives in L.A. J. Cole and Brian Kidd met up and their chemistry was magic. But due to legal issues, Cole was only allowed to select a few beats from Mr. Kidd to spit on. But when “Can’t Get Enough” got leaked, they loved the attention it was getting and decided to release it as the 2nd single. I love the Spanish sample they use from “Paulette” as performed by Balla et ses Balladins. Trey Songz gives it an extra umph but it still doesn’t fail.

    4. “Lights Please” – As expected Cole didn’t play this track. But he did explain why the song is on the album. He said that no matter what people are saying, he was going to put this song on the album regardless of how long his debut album will arrive. He even told us that he remembers an event back in 2009, he told the crowd with his XXL sweater that “it’s going to be on the album even if it drops in 2012”
    5. Skit (Interlude) – it was hard to hear because of the loud bass coming out the speakers but Cole was talking to his friends about him spending the night in jail the same day of him signing to Jay-Z.

    6. Sideline Story – the beat and lyricism of this song was just flawless. it had the old school J. Cole flow and the super bass making every soul move side to side. It was just a beauty. J. Cole also raps about a subliminal rumor about Jay-Z not promoting his artist well saying, “Ni**as is saying ‘Why Jay-Z never shout me out’, but I don’t give a f-ck“. But only if I was able to catch the rest of that verse, Cole did explain why he said that and there was no pun intended. Jay-Z is still J. Cole’s mentor and idol.

“Back when Martin Luther had a thing for Coretta/ Wonder if she seen the dreams he was dreaming/ Did she have a clue”

    7. Mr. Nice Watch – Before Cole played “Sideline Story” he told us that the song was going to go straight into this song and when it arrived, the whole place was shaking. Oh my goodness. The bass for this song is ridiculous. The flow was incredible. Cole’s lyricism was straight fire. And Jay-Z? He killed it. This song was so good that all the bloggers yelled out, “PLAY IT AGAIN!”. J. Cole laughed and said, “I’ll play it again as we leave the club.” I see this song being played at clubs in NYC as his anthem. It might be the hit of the winter! As I write this, it hits me that J. Cole might finally have a super-hit! A hit where the hip-hop world is truly going to recognize who Jermaine Cole really is. Cole also explained how Mark Pitts told him that Jay-Z is always late but always on time.

“No more Mr. Nice Guy.. Say hello to Mr. Nice Watch.”

    8. Cole World – following “Mr. Nice Watch” might be hard but this track didn’t disappoint. This song had the crazy bass with the 808 going H.A.M. Song was such a great lyrically sensation. J. Cole used those lyrics in a freestyle with Cosmic Kev in Philly.

    9. In The Morning – Like I said in my tweet “this song is such a sexual classic. I wonder how many babies were made while listening to this.” Of course with the feature of Drake this song was added because of commercial purpose but everyone loves this song. Great song for the ladies and men too. Don’t be shy. haha!

    10. Lost Ones – J. Cole explained how he was hurt when this song was leaked. He even told us that he had this song for almost four years. When he was just starting to make “The Warm Up” mixtape he had the song already recorded. But he told us this is one of his favorite tracks. He did some minor changes to the song. He added live violins, a different intro to the song, and added new vocals as well.

    11. Nobody’s Perfect ft. Missy Elliot – Cole told us the story how it was ironic that he had a song with Missy Elliot. Because a couple of years back when he use to get rides by his friend’s sister, she use to bump to Missy. That is what made Cole fall in love with the music of the Misdemeanor. With simple connect, Missy was gracious to do a song with him and she laid down the hook. It was pure magic like Kobe & Shaq.

    12. Never Told – Cole explains how there will be a song you might skip and this would be the one, but, Cole explains how he guarantees that this will be our favorite song within one month or so after the album drops. I understood why. It really wasn’t your typical J. Cole song, but i can see myself cruising in my car saying, “this is my ish!”. Good song, could be great.

    13. Rise Or Shine – this song was just a pure rap song. Just pure lyricism. Cole poured his soul into this song with anger and poise. For the last verse, Cole gave us a treat by stopping the song and rapping it as an acapella. That was insane. I was so in awe with what he was saying, I wasn’t able to write down a bar or two. It was simply amazing. A preview of the song can be found in the video below.

    14. God’s Gift – It’s such a beauty of a song. The flow is so harmonic and the lyricism is just full of grace. HustleGRL dropped a video of him performing this live in Toronto last week.

    15. Breakdown – Last but not least, J. Cole told us this was his favorite song. The reason why he had it last was because he didn’t want to mess up the flow of the tracks. Prior to this he was telling us that not only because this is his album, but this album is one of those where you don’t have to skip a song. He said in “The Warm Up” and “Friday Night Lights” he would skip a song or two. But in this one, it’s hard for him to skip a song and I truly understand why. But in “Breakdown” it’s basically all the years of hard work poured out into this song. It’s so emotional and touching that all you can do is bop your head and say, “Yes Cole, I feel you bro.” He raps to us about the story of how his life came to be and how it got to this point. Truly touching.

Bonus Tracks: Work Out, Who Dat, and Daddy’s Little Girl. I know you guys are wondering, “What about ‘Cheer Up’ or ‘Nothing Lasts Forever’” but it just didn’t make the cut or Cole didn’t want to play them for some reason. But that is just how the industry works. J. Cole wished he could put all the songs he made into this album but he even told us he has some songs saved for the next album and so on.

    J. Cole then thanked Mark Pitts, Jay-Z, everyone from RocNation and Columbia Records for making his dreams come true. As the night concluded, J. Cole played Mr. Nice Watch as he promised. He gave daps to all his friends, family, and fans in the attendance. It was a night either J. Cole or I would ever forget.”

  69. DHH just leaked the album! http://www.tinyurl.com/6h7ucfk

  70. looks like work out was pushed up to the official tracklist and cheer up was made a bonus.

I dont know whether cheer up should have been taken off… but I definitely agree with putting work out on the album, Not because its a good song, I think its corny, but because its just not good marketing or promotion to put a single as a bonus track.what does that say about the rest of your album if the single is a bonus cut? especially after clearing all those samples and shit.

  71. 13 track album. already heard 5 of them. 6 more to go. hopefully they’re good

  72. shit sounds dope to me

  73. i want to read a review from an impartial 3rd party not a groupie trying to get people to buy the album. ffs may as well ask j.coles mom to review the album.

  74. ^^^
There’s always the Review that Rolling Stones gave it, and its pretty much the same as this.

  75. Phonte snippets are at amazon uk as well….sounds much better than cole…IMO

  76. Stop bringing up Phonte’s ass on a j.cole post, yes phonte is dope but aint nobody checkin for him outside of the internt and dude will never blow up. 9/27 im buying coles album sounds good tho

  77. Everything I hear from this guy is starting to sound the same. I’ll still give it a chance, but I don’t hear anything that stands out.

  78. minus workout and inthe morning this album is nice!!! i almost like the whole thing. im def copping.

  79. @Pauly that sounded like a stan review lol never seen the word “beauty” used so many times in a review

  80. if the internet hates it then the mainstream is gonna love it

  81. times like this, i wish he never had the jay-z co-sign…shit might be different for him

i see him being the next fab IMO until i listen to the album…dope as fuck, always tough on mixtapes and features, albums tend to slip but overall solid

  82. I guess it’s cool to release this for whoever wants to hear it. But I myself don’t wanna hear parts of every song before I hear the whole album

  83. I seen these very hip hop heads turn on Wiz with Black and Yellow and he blew the fuck up, made 14 million this year. Mr. Nice Watch is going to obliterate, you hear me obliterate! and there’s nothing YOU can do about it.

  84. the album about to be a straight classic

  85. Cole World, No Classic

  86. i guess people only like you when you’re underground. thats so fucked up cole world

  87. i guess people only like you when you’re underground. thats so fucked up. . cole world mothafuckas

  88. @shzntt sorry but this is nothing like black and yellow. and this is exactly what is wrong with cole fans. yall said the same thing about work out and cant get enough. hell yall were saying who dat was gonna blow up. this will be his fourth single. black and yellow was wiz’ first single and it took off. please stop ethering your mans. stop trying to make yourselves feel better about his situation by comparing him to other rappers’ success. you keep wanting him to emulate drake, big sean, wiz and all these other new rappers everytime his own shit aint working. that’s a sign of failure. just let j.cole be j.cole and stop comparing him to everybody. stop creating these expectations that he has yet to meet.

  89. He’s meeting them right now! Cole won.

  90. i think its good for his first album.. it’ll be decent.. no classic.. but good.. mixtapes are still gonna be better.. hopefully he dont sell out like sean and wiz smh

  91. that joint with Missy sounds insaneeeeeeeeeee.
these snippets sound crazy, idk why everyone is criticizing… the beats are fire and it sounds like theres some ill concepts on breakdown and never told. wtf were you all expecting? then again people who don’t like cole have their minds made up already… everyone who fucks with cole go out and support and grab urself a copy..

btw mr. nice watch is filthy, fuck what you heard. cole crazy with the beats and every album needs a hype joint, i fuck with it.

  92. where is “Cheer Up” at??

  93. @ImaLazyass Its a bonus now.

  94. good thing the already leaked songs are fucking wack compared to the new ones that werent released.. cole got saved on that one. theres hope.. lets see what all this hype is all about.. plus why would you put lights please and in the morning? light please is classic but in the morning ft drake???? he fucking killed that song with his creepy ass voice. original was better

  95. It’s snippets! Stop hating until you at least hear the album. WTF?

  96. And everyone’s worst fears are confirmed. The album is mediocre as fuck. Not that surprising really, there’s no chance in a hell a record that has songs like Mr Nice Watch, In The Morning, Work It, Lights Please & Lost Ones.

What’s the point in putting such weak and sometimes ancient tracks on the album anyway? In the end you left with 10 tracks that have a shot at being good and from the snippets you can tell this ain’t gonna be no illmatic shit.

    Nigga fucked up. Again.

  97. its great to see j cole finally drop an album.. alot of people were doubting it came out and even i was at one point.. but cole overcame that… anyways i think this album will be dope and better than games and lil waynes album but i still think he couldnt top kendrick lamar … but to be fair cole is looking for more of a mainstream approach on this album while kendrick lamar put out more of an underground album.. no singles nuttin 4 clubs..

  98. oh and we also gotta give props for cole not puttin so many featured artists on this album.. i hate when people do that… drake had 8 on his debut witt only like 14 songs… game had like 20 on RED smh .. and cole has only 4 witt 16 songs … clap 4 him…

  99. is it hating if youre voicing your opinion on what you heard? Or is it dick riding because you heard mediocre songs and you think full length mediocrity will better? im for the latter. there are about 3 songs maybe im jazzed to hear about. I think i like the warm up better than this. Usually great artist first album is their best, but the game has changed….dudes first albums are these mixtapes that they are snapping on. i dunno but i got a feeling this is going to be a Shaq Free Throw.

  100. @Made

did you really just call lost ones wack or w/e..reallyy??

have you even listend to the song you dumb illiterate fuck

he always said he was puttin lights please on his first album

and in the morning was his first breakthrough commercial song

mr nice watch…= club banger = more exposure = more fans..same with workout..you will see on the charts

    fuck you complaining bout bitch

everyone hatin on cole..for what..wanting to become a bigger and greater artist???..drake did it, ye did it..em did..50 did it..jay did it..what yall niggas complanin bout really??????????

at least cole gets taklked about unlike some rappers alltogether..cole bout to be hugeee..9/27 go get it or get lost

  101. Just thought I’d point out if you call anything a classic based on out of context 30 second snippets, you’re a dope. If you’re calling anything released from 2011 a classic anyway, you’re probably reaaaaally young. And I’m out.

  102. haters gon hate…

  103. Again, I don’t take any “criticism” from 2DBZ seriously anymore. If this album is as bad as you say it is, I’ll hear it from DJBooth, RollingStone, AllHIpHop, and other ESTEEMED REVIEWERS, not some grown ass Hip Hop Heads that think they’re A&Rs.

  104. Im a J Cole stan and had to listen to these to makes sure we didnt get an album full of work out/ mr nice watch. I dont understand all the thumbs down and hate. all those other songs are classic cole. lets be honest though warm up will be his best overall work, but this should be great. and make the impact he wants. dude has a song about abortion on a fuckin album. nobody else would do that

  105. Yeah the album sounds real promising of the smippets I’ve heard. It’s gonna be a great debut album. Just wished Cheer Up was on there but I heard it was cut off due the sample clerance issues. SMH

  106. I’m a J.Cole doubter d, well not a hater. I just don’t like most of his lyrics, delivery, voice. I do like his production (minus that new track with Hov).

But I’ll still give SS a listen. If I don’t like it, I don’t like it, it don’t mean that I’m hating.

More excited about Phonte & 9th dropping on the 27th!

  108. so if i think it doesn’t sound that great I’m a hater??? You bitches need to get off dudes dick. I think he has so much talent and this album should be way better then what I heard. And yes 30 sec. snippets are enough to gage how the album will sound and I’m not impressed fuck what anybody else has to say that’s my opinion.

  110. SOunds dope other than mr nice watch and the one after it where he says “how that feel….VERYY HAPPY!” da fuck cole? lol…and work out is a bonus so i cant and wont count that wackness….i mean i probably expected better but still how the fuck people guna expect a CLASSIC? those are so hard to come by nowadays….and friday night lights had like 4 wack songs on it too…so take it for what it is it sounds like a good album….phontes sounds cool too but 9th is losing it

  111. However Evidence’s album ……………………album of the year THAT sounds on point

  112. FUCK ALL OF YOUR OPINIONS, if you liked his music SUPPORT HIM, if you have no interest in buying this dudes album, then what are you complaining about ? EXACTLY.., I been of fan of since the Warm up and yes i admit cole has changed a lil BUT i will still be copping for support, this album sounds far from wack, it will be better than big seans album and waynes thats for sure.

  113. releasing on sep. 23rd in germany.

  114. i guess people only like you when you’re underground. thats so fucked up cole world

WTF said this on September 17th, 2011 at 3:25 am

    YES, BITCHES ON MY DICK

  115. tyler the creator ain’t underground.

Again.
    ………………….
idiot, nobody will ever make an album as good as illmatic.
we havent had a legit classic in hip hop since game’s first album.
what makes you think j cole will make one?

  117. why do all u faggots have such strong opinions on things? Widen ur music tastes to some other music and u’ll be more appreciative in the substance in music… until then go jump off a cliff, get some pussy, SOMETHING PRODUCTIVE! fake a&r bitches go get ur panties wet over music u don’t like some more. WE DONT GIVE A FUCK!

  118. you guys have no good sense of judgement. This album sounds incredible to me you need to be open minded and its only a snippet.i cant wait to hear the full intro and interlude and breakdown and never told and … fuck it, all them shits.

  119. honestly i just think its 2dopeboyz…
no other website has haters going outta there way THIS much to hate on album snippets and jus cole in general. niggas stalk this site to spread hate.

  120. speaking of Kendrick Lamar, whats the big deal about him? Hes nothing special to me. I really dont get the hype. I wish someone could explain it to me. And as for J. Cole, hes overrated. Only nice thing about him is his beats. Nothing jumps out about how he raps

  121. I agree with a lot of people on here, I don’t see anything special about J. Cole. To be totally honest I think most of his fans still judge him as the 2009 J. Cole rather than the 2010 – Present J. Cole. He has had a couple of good songs since The Warm Up, but almost everything he has released since then has been average – wack. Of course his stans will never admit that or even agree with it in their own heads. If you listen to J. Cole from a neutral point of view his music is very average, there is nothing even close to amazing about it. I don’t think he is wack or anything like that, I just think he’s an average rapper. I also don’t like how he has changed up his voice when raps, on The Warm Up he never did that. For example on Can’t Get Enough the way he says “alriiiiiight”, he changes his voice up like that all the time now in his songs. It makes him sound like some ignorant southern rapper, rather than the lyrical gift from God that he wants to be. I just find it very annoying, I prefer The Warm Up version of J. Cole. Lastly, he says “nigga” WAYYYY too much. It’s almost like he runs out of lyrics for a verse so he just throws 8 “niggas” into every verse. You know what I am saying….

  122. Just from listening to the 30 second previews of each song on the album, it seems like the project was just thrown together with no direction.

  123. some of yall cant accept differing opinions. its actually quite amusing. someone dont like the snippets and you call them hater or say they need to be open minded. i’d hate to see yall get rejected by a girl. “you’re not attracted to me…. you just a hater. you need to be more open minded. cole world no blanket bitch”. smh

  124. @ 1dopePuertoRicanfromJersey

I couldnt agree more with what u said. He tris to sound like a ignorant southern rapper by how he raps at times and in interviews he speaks decent. And he does use “nigga” a little too much where it gives me a headache… as if he ran out of things to say.

  125. @Mookie

You’re trolling right? You listen to 30 second snippets and this album has no direction? Freaking dead

  126. Look at that like/dislike ratio tho.

  127. Co sign @ Coolbluekid!…

  128. too bad that every review from the listening sessions have been A+ and acclaimed by every blog, jounralist there… but hey let’s take the word of a faceless 2dope commenter… y’all are clowns… u got nothing better to do on a saturday?

  129. @1dopePuertoRicanfromJersey

You the only one in this ENTIRE page making any kind of sense.

  130. Oh wow, a select audience of privileged stans got to listen to a bunch on unfinishes shit made by Cole earlier than the others, yeah their opinions can truly be valued.

Yeah if you seriously think people who got invited to an exclusive listening party are going to come out and write shit about what they just attended you’re retarded.

  131. ya’ll a buncha bitch’s how you gonna judge a fucking album by 30 sec snippets, Cole get’s hated on more than anyone on this site. COLE WOLRD.

  132. tcold: Because he deserves the hate… all he’s been making since his Mainstream arrival is bullshit. The thing isn’t that he’s mainstream… its’ that his mainstream shit sounds shitty and forced, unlike Drake who’s sound is so universal.

Take Care > Thank Me Later >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> COAL WORLD: The Shitlined Story

    OVOXO

  133. Agreed @JustAFanOfMusic

IMO Take care will shit on this x10. This doesnt sound too promising.

  134. Agreed @JustAFanOfMusic

IMO Take care will shit on this x10. This doesnt sound too promising.

    Take Care
    10/24/11

  135. U guys do know that Cole is from the south right?

  136. OVOXO. TAKE CARE> COLE WORLD.
    10.24.11
    “STEVIE LIKED IT”

  137. You guys are truly some of the dumbest people in the universe for even comparing Drake to Cole. Drake’s sound is universal? Last time I checked the only pain Drake understands is Drake’s pain, being too rich and so young, trusting too many women who take advantage of his fame, how many people can relate to that? Oh ok, just checking. J. Cole is an everyday dude with an uncanny ability to articulate anybody’s story and emotions. And besides subject matter, just based off plain lyricism, Cole >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Drake. NOT EVEN CLOSE. You guys do realize Drake is the guy who attempted to capitalize off of the already simple “Supa Dupa” flow right? Maybe y’all dig the harmonizing shit more than actual, potent lyrisicism. But hey, depth and diversity aren’t for everyone I suppose. Take Care (hopefully will be dope) but not in the same vein as this album, the way these OVOXO dweebs continue slurp that man he’ll become the next Wayne forreal, where the hype supersedes the music. But hey, what do I know I’m just an 18 yr old kid excited for Sept. 27. Cole World FTW. AS USUAL. *plays Rise & Shine snippet*

  138. Will be copping for one reason and one reason only,J coles track record speaks for itself! The Comeup,The Warmup,Friday Night Lights! Its Impossible for The Sideline Story to be garbage. You mufuckas must have forgot! Anyways every album thats comes out is either a classic or garbage to you bloggers, what ever happened to good albums or decent albums. The rap game is fucked up in 2011 and I think the young boy will deliver!

  139. lmao i like hwo the same guy commented twice riding cole’s dick. lmao what a fucking stan. cole been fallen off since friday night lights, his ego told him he could produce all on his own, his ego told him that he doesnt need any features, his EGO told him he was better than kendrick until he got murdered, his ego told him he was better than jay z TILL HE GOT MURDERED BY JAY z. @ listen to dummies your a little cole fan dick riding ignorant faggot, this album already sound like shit with already 50% of the album already heard. drake is the everyday guy that brings emotional music, cole trys too hard to force himself into mainstream. he even looked to drake “thank me later” for ideas on his album, its FACT. drake used what ever flow on ONE SONG. the rest of HIS music is real, drakes more versitile and diverse than cole will ever be. drake can acually write SONGS, BRIDGES , AND HOOKS better than cole. so fuck up.

  140. http://www.futureproducers.com/forums/music-genres/rap-hip-hop-r-b/j-cole-jayz-mr-nice-watch-380266/3/

  141. Nigga said “J. Cole is Juelz Santana’s less lyrical son with wacker beats. “

  142. Co-sign @ dmv

and “This is exactly how you fail as an artist…..

producing 90% of your debut album, when your not established as a producer beforehand

idk how roc nation let this happen but if this album does anywhere near 100k 1st week i’ll be shocked

big sean is not nearly the rapper cole is but his album suprised alot of people and sold well because of 2 things…1. a sucessfull single/good marketing 2. great production on the album “

  143. @ListenDummies: Did you not hear Cole on shitty Mr. Nice Watch, Dummy… he said basically he’s going to become Jay-Z. Making raps about his status and how much money he has, what cars he’s copped, etc etc. So yes… I’d rather listen to Drake over Cole, Cole can’t cut it in Mainstream. Mr. Nice Watch is an indication of that… more like Mr. Shitty New Lyrics.

@JustaFanofgoodmusic: You use to like good music… now you like below average music. Cole’s demise has been witnessed thanks to these snippets.

  144. ^^^MCFLY MAN CRUSH CAN’T MANAGE. Except for Rihanna And Ye. SMH nigga can’t do shit right since the black album. SMH

  145. i dont get why yall keep arguing with dudes, its obvious that these guys are on j coles nuts just as much as j cole dick riders. why else would they give their time up to talk about how ‘whack’ he is? i dont see this much hate on niggas who actually suck, soulja boy, flocka etc you know why? cuz these people know coles dope they just mad cuz hes putting out different type of music that theyre not accustomed to hearing. just cuz its different dont mean its bad you close minded fucks

  146. Love to scroll down to the comment section and get the vital, factual industry perspectives and critiques from all the “I JUST listen to hip-hop therefore I know what makes an artist” non-industry lame fuckboys who don’t exist in any music realm outside of this blog space.

  147. @justafanofmusic i heard mr. nice watch and i think most people can agree that’s not one of those records where you dissect every lyric, and even so how many basic ass simple elementary-esque bars does drizzy drop? “Tuck my napkin in my shirt because I’m mobbin like that’?!?! word? “Don’t like my women single, I like my chicks in twos” i can go on and on. [II] Cole is a proven lyricist, Drake is a decent rapper and a great songwriter. Not the same lane young. And i mean y’all focused on the fuckin mainstream appeal that y’all can’t see Mr. Nice Watch is a double entendre of a song. No matter how much money you have yu can’t buy time, so enjoy life. Fuckin dunce. The chorus states the message clearly. And as far as the album versus previous bodies of work, how many people prefer TML over SFG? Don’t worry, I’ll wait. Shit came out softer than a litter of newborn puppies and shit. Cole World represents the majority of the culture. Douche.

  148. The industry itself is the biggest cancer on creative music. Just look at how shitty the mainstream J. Cole songs are.

Just another nigga who’s going to release another album that is weaker than a fucking mixtape.

  149. @ dmv: So Drake did NOT use the Supa Dupa flow on Forever, Over, etc….iDon’t got time 2 name a buncha Drake songs.
Anyway, people, please stop comparing Drake and J. Cole. J. Cole is a lyricist which is y the underground loved him. Drake knows the structure of creating a song, which is y the mainstream loves him. & stop mentioning TML like it was a great album or something b/c when it 1st came out y’all threw tht sht under the bus, smh.

  150. j cole’s ration on how man times he says the world “nigga” off the charts. i recount that j cole tried to ryhme riahanna with vee-gina on in the morning. j cole got washed on that track

  151. j cole’s ration on how man times he says the world “nigga” off the charts. i recount that j cole tried to ryhme riahanna with vee-gina on in the morning. j cole got washed on that track. cole world represents 1 % of the culture that are stuck on middle class and politcal offense as immortal technique. right it sounds like TML>CW.
@listendummies, your piont is as irrelevant as the gay marriage law. the chorus of that song is so horrible, WHO THE FUCK DANCES TO ANY OF COLE’S MUSIC, PLAY HIS MUSIC AT A CLUB, IT WOULD awkward as fuck. cole is as a proven lyricist as to what soulja boy is as an “artist”.

  152. his mixtapes are far 2 better than this

  153. @che he only used it on forever, exxagerativly. and stop with that shit like big sean created it, camron and countless of rappers used that flow before big sean so there is no such thing as a “supa dupa” flow.

  154. @dmv clever political reference <—sarcasm. I mean you said his mainstream attempt specifically Mr. Nice Watch, was a fail, and i explained why the message of the song and its appeal is dope. Guess you can't understand that. If the usage of the word nigga detracts from the quality of the art, then i guess The Boondocks is a terrible show, and Dave Chappelle is an ignorant comedian. Yeah, thought so. And the cole and soulja boy analogy? #cmonson You can do so much better. If you think Drake is a a talented MC with depth and poise, you gotta reevaluate your qualifications b cuz he a dope singer who raps. Real harmonic-like. No way in the world Drake is a proven lyricist when he got bodied by Nicki Minaj on his own shit. Yeah, that happened kids. Ain't no way in hell you can say Drake is nicer wit the lyrics than Cole, unless you like Rap N B. Clown. It'll be a Cole day in hell, before Drake provides us with top lyrical subject matter and purpose. anybody who seriously just predicted the demise of Cole's career because of the snippets is A GODDAM MOTHAFUCKIN FOOL *kevin hart voice* haha man chill y'all don't want this. Cuz I'm a great debater. Denzel. AHH!!!!!

P.S. Drake's raps exude too much estrogen for one man to deal with, I'm sorry. One thing to be emotionally aware but cot damn, this dude's only side is his feminine side.

  155. >>>. Drake’s raps exude too much estrogen

Reminds me a few days ago when #Drakecrieswhen was trending.

  156. why hasn’t this shit leaked yet!!!???!

  157. @ dmv: Nobody said Sean created it. Nor did I imply. Tht is all.

  158. I mean have y’all thoroughly listened to the snippets? See: Dollar & A Dream III, “Life at the bottom, nobody but God got him/They say he wouldn’t leave me, but I’m fallin like it’s autumn” Y’all are fuckin dorks man, this hip-hop shit clearly not for YM OVOXO stans or annes or whatever tf you guys are callin it these days.

@dmv hey genius, remember these bars: “One of my baddest women ever I call her Rihanna/That’s cuz her name is Rihanna” Oh yeah uber lyrical artard. Go the fuck to sleep.

  159. That line was some pimp shit. Drake >>>

  160. lmao gotta co-sign marty even tho he only said one sentence lol. SOMEBODY got it.

  161. as far as the drake/jcole debate. dem niggaz neck and neck no homo (cam voice). i mean drake is MOST DEFINITLY out doing cole as far as making songs. estrogen or not, dude got a great producer to help and bounce ideas of off. cole clearly thinks hes the new ye. note to cole, please far back off the keys. but lyrically, cole got drake beat. but it aint by a long shot like niggaz on 2dopeboyz preach. cole is just simply better. but its perception that hinders drake. if he never sang and wasnt on degrassi, niggaz would take him more seriously rapping wise. idc. i just dont like how he trys to go outside of his lane and try to be a soilder when hes not.

TML was a solid album. anybody calling it classic is stanning. anybody calling it trash is hating. it is a good record. and drake got one-up on cole cuz Light UP is CLEARLY better than Mr. Nice Watch. even tho Mr. Nice Watch is pretty nice. cept that damn hook. smh. everytime i listen to it i gotta skip that damn hook and get to the verses. but cole MIGHT have a better album than drake. but it’ll be tough. bcuz drake do got some bangers on there.

  162. @ marty mcfly lmao, yea that line goes over everyones head. and @CHE YOU CLEARLY IMPLIED THE “SUPA DUPA” FLOW BECAUSE BIG SEAN IS THE ONLY ONE TO MENTION THAT PHRASE, EVER!. do you get it? you did imply it so shut the fuck up lol. @ LISTENDUMMIES. mr. nice watch is obviously a fail, i dont care if it has quadruple entandres, and just because jay z made it cool to refer double mentions doesn’t make a song “dope”. so clearly mr. ncie watch is a horrible song, all bet 70% of cole stans agree that it is indeed horrible, everything he’s realeased from work out, to this so stop slobbering COAL’s dick lol,, its funny how you try to resonate art to mr. nice watch and give it that lame excuse smh. and boondocks, it is pkay to make referals to the word “nigga” since its bassically a show about black humor, dave chappel is an ignorant comedian but THATS WHAT MAKES HIM SO GREAT. when cole does it its a downfall, because you can’t be emotional and say “nigga” 30% of the time, yes on rap records he can do that but he’s just a rapper, THATS IT, he is not a hip hop artists to that extent. just because he can produce does’t automatically mean hes great, hes average at producing AT BEST. and wtf? nicki minaj? oh yea just like how nicki minaj bodied everyone on monster, are you gonna call her better than jay z? or kanye? lol wtf dude, your lame excuses are pitiful. drake is A PROVEN AND EVIDENTLY better lyricist than cole with ESTABLISHED AWARDS OF SONGWRITING. not fucking BET AWARDS. YOU ARE A HORRIBLE DEBATER, lmao and you say drake is soft? offcorse, hes killen em softly, everyone has a soft side. and you clearly confuse the diffrerence between RAP and HIP HOP. cole is a rapper, drake is a hip hop artist. ESTABLISHED ARTIST. COAL WORLD everybody, this clown just PAPOOSED himself. lol fucking joke.

  163. I dont think Cole can fuck wit Drake lyrically what so ever. Cole has better subject matter but Drake never had a point where people were saying he was dropping songs that werent dope. All of his singles set up his album nicely and he came in at the same time as Cole but he bout to drop his 2nd album. I think people dont consider hooks and overall song writing as being lyrical but I do. Drake smashed the fuck outta Forever and he wrote his verse first and the other three were highly respected Mcs and Drake just bodied that shit. People gonna say a whole bunch of shit about how Drake is soft and makes music for girls but they really like his shit too.

  164. I think my IP might’ve been banned

  165. ^http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vy4sEnQtZVw

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogV7SvRwb-8

I’m gonna say that as an artist, I have way more respect for Drake then Cole. And that’s just real rap. You can’t even really call me a Drake fan. But I don’t remember Drake ever compromising what he thought his music should sound like, and he doesn’t try to make his shit sound like what’s hot. That’s all Cole has been doing. I don’t know if it’s under the direction of Jay or Roc Nation, but this dude puts out good shit that you can tell came from him like Cheer Up(which I really enjoyed, unfinished and all), and then puts out some cookie-cutter corny bullshit like this. Let your radio singles make themselves. You should make songs cause you wanted to and they sound good, THEN, you can pull out what you think might be the best received ones for singles. This nigga is doing it backwards.

“Izzo” wasn’t originally the single for BP. It was supposed to be “Heart Of The City”, at the last minute, Young Guru and the camp told him to push Izzo as a single cause they knew it would pop with the Jackson 5 sample. But he didn’t make Izzo as a single. Yeah, he used Sean’s flow, but he used it when it was just Sean’s, and cause it sounded hot. Not cause that’s what everyone liked and was doing at the time. That’s why everyone else(See: Ludacris) did it, because everyone else was. With refinement, Cole can make really great music. But he’s on the wrong path, and as fans, y’all should let him know. I’m not saying don’t buy the album, I’m just saying don’t let your love for a nigga get in the way of you calling out wack shit he does or trying to justify it. You’re gonna kill him. You can still show your support, and give real constructive criticism. You’re not supposed to cosign everything the nigga does. His bitch ain’t supposed to do that shit. She has to tell him when he’s fuckin up. So you definitely should not be doing that shit. Cause then he’s gonna think it’s okay to put shit like this out again. And he’ll inevitably Cobain bang his own career, and it’ll be partially your fault. If you think the record is good, then okay. But most of us here know it’s not. That’s why people keep attacking it, and the fans keep making excuses. You don’t need to ever make excuses for a good record, it speaks for itself. Cole knows why he made this record, and it ain’t cause he wanted to. So despite, all the arguing and poking fun at Cole I’ve done, this is my grown-up response/essay. I hope you actually read that shit. You probably didn’t though. I honestly don’t blame you.

I originally wrote this comment like an hour ago. Fucking faulty ass commenting system that them two niggas won’t ever fix.

  166. @ dmv: Well, tell me, is there anything else u could call it? Does anybody else call it something differently besides tht? No? So u could stfu. Calm ur little ass down.

  167. lmao @CHE you have nothing else to say? your not even going to admit to anything, just go on with your lame excuse?. and no i dont know what to call it but sean is the only one to ever naming it that, he didnt fucking invent that wordplay.

  168. yo, i forgot drake did have a dope verse on forever. i still think it went ye > em > drake > wayne, but dude did do his thing. dave chappelle is not an ignorant comdedian, but i hear everything else your sayin DMV. and drake better lyrically? nah. i give him the songwriting and hooks but not bars. its the musically production that carrys drakes lyrics. not saying that their wack, but its the melodic sync that enhances drakes lyrics. pound for pound bar for bar cole got that. but this aint the 80s. niggaz gotta make them records. and thats where cole is lacking due to his ignorance and stubborness to want to produce everything himself. give cole some no i.d.’s or some yeezy’s and he KILLING the game. i can honestly say that. and im not a cole fan, bcuz i think dude is boring. im not saying he not talented but just that his production is his achilles heel. i mean if G.O.O.D. Music was ever so kind to give cole marvin gaye and chardonney? wit that “HOLD UP HOLD UP HOLD UP HOLD UP”?!?!?! i mean that even SOUNDS like cole. and when big sean got super-bodied by ye’s verse. cole could have out did or atleast hanged wit yeezy. dude would have had his radio hit, had more momentum and things would be A LOT different. but he still a rookie. and like jay said, he gotta hit his head a couple a times for him to get it right. but in no way shape or form am i giving drake the title over cole just yet ESPECIALLY when his album hasnt even dropped. let me have TML and Cole World in my hands and them let me see.

  169. “no i dont know what to call it”
dmv said this on September 18th, 2011 at 12:34 am

    O.k., then.

  170. @the realest, dave chappele is slick with his stuff though, thats waht makes hims soo great lol. and i agree, cole is boring and he can do so much better, its just that he needs to find his lane and get off this ignorant, egotistical music that hes been on and just sit down and revitalise what made him good. and cole looked at debut albums to see what his would be and how he would get ideas, he even looked towards thank me later as to how he should go about his songs. so that alone drake gets the up from cole himself. we’ve heard 50% of the album and idk. not solid.

  171. 1. Can we stop comparing J.Cole to Drake, because that’s like comparing say, a PlayStation Portable to a Nintendo Wii. There are some similarities, but not enough to compare them.

    2. Anyone actually taking these comments seriously is an idiot. Yeah, I used to get into huge debates on this bitch. But that was until I started to realize that shit was pointless. If you don’t understand this at this point…smh: this site is majority HIP HOP HEADS. Unless a song has the words “DJ PREMIER” or the like on it, it won’t get much love from them. Take the new Diggy track, which is pretty good. If you look at the like/dislike bar, the dislikes are ridiculous. TBH, I stopped taking the “facts” of this site seriously when “Copy, Paste” blew the fuck up.

    3. Can we please wait before we seriously judge an album on THIRTY SECOND PREVIEWS? That’s like taking the first 30 minutes of MY BEAUTIFUL DARK TWISTED FANTASY and saying that it’s wack.

  172. Deadass these snippets are fire ya must be crazy for who ever hating and J. Cole’s singles probably flopped but you can’t knock no artist that is doing thier own hustle and thats in their own lane and all that cause Cole got is all and everybody talking shit abt how drake killed Forever like nigga did you fucking hear Looking For Trouble J. Cole killed everyone on that record by a landslide hands down and there were heavyweight rappers on that track.. Also man J. Cole puts out classic mixtapes man these are only 30 seconds of the tracks on the snippets and if ya dont notice whenever new rappers make an album they step everything up lyrically and musically.. cole production got so much better and you hear that in the snippets bc they are different better more advanced J. Cole not that old shit which is still classic but everyone has to progress as time goes. like how you expect J. Cole to compete with Kanye on the production with his old beats.. Cole be fuckin with the piano the guitars and all types of shit with his music now like kanye and his raps have always been dope man he is a great lyricist and people really need to stop hating man especially the fake j. cole fans that now he gonna charge ya for his music you dont wanna buy his shit you cheap bastard i bet if it was free you would like this post and not hate.. Cole World No fucking Blanket nigga im gonna cop this shit and its gonna be a fucking classic and whoever dont like that can suck the REAL J. Cole fans dick and J. Coles Dick BITCH Cole World

  173. @dmv “you say drake is soft? offcorse, hes killen em softly, everyone has a soft side.” Drake’s influence is a lil too heavy in your life b. Just take a moment out of your day stop gargling Drake’s genitals that he is by no means a hiphop lyricist. Hey dumbfuck, songwriter awards don’t equate to depth or substance. It just means you can put a song together exceptionally. You sound like a fuckin OVOXO in-house whore. His music is dope dipshit, it just doesnt contain the quality and versatility that Cole’s has. Drake is another rapper merely about “the life”, Cole gives many different perspectives on everyday facets of life. So try to digest that you illiterate fuck, read a fuckin book or article on current affairs and see how much of Drake’s shit is truly relevant. Man, these fuckin fans get worse and worse appreciating the music is one thing, but making it more than what it is is a fuckin problem. Y’all dudes need to really revisit TML and analyze how “lyrical” the shit was. Wait, my bad y’all are for the fuckin Trust Issue & Marvin’s Room rap/singing huh? Then of course Cole is wack af too y’all cuz he ain’t whinin about bitches fuckin him (irony?) and how he’s so lonely because he justs a stripper to tuck him in at night. GET. THE. FUCK. OUT. Seriously b kil yourself you don’t deserve to breathe. I guarantee you get a more sense of awareness by listening to Cole’s music than Audrey’s. You prally dig this dude cuz you one of than metrosexual ass, cucumber on the face type of niggas huh? Fukin queen beat it cocksucker. Now i’ma go continue celebrating this Mayweather knock on ya bitchass.

  174. Nobody gonna read my essay? :(

  175. And besides Return of Simba >>>>> ANY OF DRAKE’S BEST “LYRICAL SONGS” EASY!!!!!

  176. And lol…I thought the main consensus of “Forever” was Em >>>> Kanye>>>Drake>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Lil Wayne. But whatever. Your opinion.

  177. @ dmv. i didnt even hear the snippets. i wanna hear the whole thing start to finish bcuz that MEANS ALOT. especially to me. that track order and album flow is KEY. thats what seperates albums from what i call “collective singles.” and yes, cole does need to find his lane. i mean we know drakes and he sticks to it. *dap. but what i think cole does is rely on his lyrics and the fact that he tryna produce his whole album. which to me is a gimick. i mean i can hear him now if someone called it wack. “the fact that i produced my entire album already puts it on another level.” FALSE. the quality out weighs w.e plot or sceam you got going.

but the reality might just be that dude is boring. i mean i saw somewhere he made a video about how much he likes kripsy kream donuts. -______-. really? for real? ross out here making mini-movies every month, wayne had dem nino brown series(waiting on part 3) and THIS is what you wanna record and post? i think his lane, is tryna be a average joe. and if thats the case you’ll do average joe numbers, and be a average joe name.

and i read either here or on the last post saying that cole should have kept Coming Home and that would be his single. is niggaz on 2dopeboyz really that stupid? thats NOT cole’s song. he simply ghostwrote the verse for puff bcuz puff doesnt posses the talent of writing lyrics. just as nas has done, t.i., game, luda, biggie, jada, and many more. i mean the lyrics and entire concept is about PUFF’S LIFE and how he felt. how the fuck is cole gonna keep that? niggaz just be stanning out the ass.

  178. @listen dummies. lol obviously this guy has never listened to room for improvement, comeback season, so far gone. the calm> return of simba, fear> return of simba, unforgettable > return of simba. i can name countless.

  179. Lmao at Pauly thinking Copy n Paste is dope while reading his Rolling Stone reviews and thinking their opinion is honest. GTFOH Diggy busted out a Chris Brown dance routine and everything for that song. Thats when I realized what he’s all about and as for Cole I just dont see how Cant get enough is so lyrical cause using phrases like “Pound for Pound” Or “Killing shit” means coming dope every time no matter what the song or subject matter. If Cole was this lyrical genius all the time then it would be obvious to see and there wouldnt be much to argue about and his first single would have worked.

  180. Yo I think one of them lazy ass dudes who run this site blocked my email address. LOL. I hope not. Cause that mean they’re more concerned with what I have to say than fixing their commenting system that’s been shitty as fuck for almost 2 years. Despite all that Ecko money they’re getting.

  181. LMAO @ Airborne.

  182. @ pauly

the main consencus IS em>>>>>>>>. but c’mon. lets be real. em was riding off that “eminem is back!” steam and niggaz was just happy to get him back AND to add to the fect his verse was dope. but c’mon, ye killed that shit before his 16 started, “ever ever mr. west is in the building, aint no question who about to kill em.” i mean, can i get a rick ross grunt?

@ airborne, lmao im finna go peep right now.

  183. @ airborne

o agree wit everytime cept that “record speak for itself” part. alotta niggaz dont know whats good. and alotta shit goes over they. and alotta shit they dont know what to look for or what makes the track great. but that is NOT the case for mr. nice watch lol. and the record itself isnt even all that bad. its the hype he put on it, i think. i saw dude on a tour bus talking about the jay-z song he had for him and was talking about HOW CRAZY! and HOW INCREDIBLE! the reocrd was. and its like okay, niggaz is amp’d. but then he drops it, and its like, THIS is the song that so crazy? please tell me you gotta another one.

i mean, jay elect got a better jay track, shinny shuit theory. THAT shit goes. but im rockin wit pauly on this topic, i gotta hear his album first to properly judge it. and i mean THE WHOLE ALBUM. not snippets.

  184. @the realest , I dont think Coming Home was a Puff song to begin with cause I heard Coles version way before Puffs and the content was different. I think if Coming Home and Blow up were his singles and he dropped the album last year when he had the most momentum. We all would be having a very different conversation right now.

  185. And the shit about Diggy was true. I never said that Copy Paste was dope, I said it was a good single for an album.

But if you wanna be and approach a real debate with the response of a troll, then fine with me.

    [Ignored]

    Yeah @ the realest, Ye’s verse was dope. But i still like Em’s verse. Shit was B A N A N A S.

  186. I just wanna interject here and give my two cents.

    1. @dmv is a fag. Not because he doesn’t fuck with Cole but just because he’s actually a fag.

    2. Cole World No Work Out.

  187. @the realest

yeah, i hear you. niggas is pretty stupid and don’t know what’s good or even what they want half the time. and i’m reserving my final judgement for the 27th. but i know when this track comes on, i’ll cringe and hit the skip button

  188. Oh yeah, the reason that Cole may have been giving the Jay collaboration hype was because Jay was really supposed to be on God’s Gift, not Mr. Nice Watch. But Jay jumped on that song during the mixing because he wanted to “be on a hit”.

Wierd thing though, I haven’t stopped playing MNW since I got it. I mean, I listened to Tha Joker a bit, but that’s all. The entire day. One song.

  189. @ marty,

ima have to disagree wit you on that. simply bcuz cole doesnt believe in having outside producers. and alex da kid produced it i think. cole might have planned on providing a feature, but not keep the record. i mean what is he coming home to? hes tryna get IN the house. puff came in, changed the game, public perception/hate drove him out, and now hes coming home. i think the stans, not you, but the stans just hear it on the radio and see it on 106 & park, and know cole ghostwrote it and wanna make an excuse to say he would be farther off if he kept it. i didnt hear anybody screaming that wit nas when he wrote 3 of the illest verses on “everytinh i love” on press play. oh, i forgot, niggaz stopped listening to puff after biggie died. bcuz puff killed biggie. -______-. smh. crazy shit is i know the whole get down about that situation. not to mention biggie died 15mins away from where i grew up.

  190. People know what good music is. Its that shit that doesnt have to be explained cause its dope all the way around. Cole makes shit that people gotta make excuses for why its dope sometimes and thats not good. BTW anybody who listens to Copy & Paste and think its deserving of any props should not be making comments on 2DBZ especially when Diggy stole Lupe whole style and added autotune to it. Cats and Dogs >>> all these hip pop albums including that weak BME shit.

  191. @pauly

I just tried to listen to it again. It’s not terrible, and I see why Jay jumped on this instead. It’s okay. It’ll probably grow on me. I still hate the “Ugh, nice watch(I know)” But I still feel like it was forced tho.

  192. @ pauly,

i can respect yo opinion on em’s verse bcuz pound for pound bar for bar, em had the best. but i rock wit ye’z cuz of the shit he said. from “i’d trade the grammy plaques just to get my granny back.” and “i use to want this shir forver, yall can have it back.” and on a MAJOR SINGLE. not an album cut. i expect him to spit what he was spitting on sumthin like “roses” and “hey mama.” not a song thats on the soundtrack to the lebron movie. but i factor in alotta things that go in to my opinion. but em did sound like the old em when he was spitting. especially when he ended wit “go play sum drake.” lmao!

  193. @the realest

I know you are a Puff fan and im not mad at him but lets be real that Last train shit was a train wreck and Puff fucked up Coming Home by not being completely on beat. Maybe if he used other singles like Yeah Yeah you would and Hate That You Love Me things would be different but he didnt change the game with that shit. Whats the most fucked up about the whole Cole situation is if they would have kept some songs off his last mixtape and put them on the album and took off the bubble gum shit then all his fans couldve said its a classic and it probably would have been true without any doubt.

  194. @ marty, not true. bcuz niggaz still think american gangster is garbage.

    # airborne, yeah it’ll grow. cuz i cant get that “cole aint hot? where you read that shit!” lol and jays “i gotta hublot(spell check) i call it tebow(spell check), i stap tha bitch wit a gator band.” the ONLY knock i got on it the the hook. that shit will never grow on me.

dont know if i spell shit right and dont feel like checking. niggaz know the lyrics anyway. i bet its on this post if i scrolled up and read close enough.

  195. @Airborne

Ain’t gonna lie, the first play, I was like “meh”. But after the second listen, it started sounding like a hit to me. Especially down in the South. As long as a hook can get stuck in your mind (ie, Tony Montana) and the beat sounds “futuristic” (ie, Racks on Racks), you’re gonna have a ‘street hit’. In this region of the country, at least.

    @the realest

Yeah, I can see how someone would say that Ye’s verse is the best, because it was pretty damned good. I just think Em stole the show with his flow and lyrics, along with that rhyme scheme!

  196. Lastly all these people saying Jay was posed to get on Gods Gift? Where did you get that imformation from cause I never heard Cole say that and Jay just did a whole album with Kanye so I dont think he would have a problem getting on whatever. Ya’ll talking about Cole would have lyrically came off better then Jay? Well thats not what happened on Nice Watch so at the end of the day his album still got gems on it but The Greatest Story Never Told still got more raw shit on it then Sideline. And yes I know its not out yet but thats my opinion. One

  197. Thank you @marty mcfly for the Greatest Story Never Told references. That was one of the best albums i’ve heard in a long, long time. Hopefully Cole World will be the next one for me.

  198. It’s funny people saying Cole’s singles r fails, but Workout peaked at #3 on 106 and Park and Cant Get Enough premiered. But the truth comes out on 9/27, so wateva

  199. @ pauly, i hear you. on that track, its like magic and bird. you can take your pick. as long as they 1 & 2 its all good. but never should wayne or drakes verse crack that bubble.

@ post, i think we just gon have to wait till 27th, cuz these snippets wouldnt do the album justice even if i did listen to em. i mean remember “ghetto university” that turned into “all of the lights”? and the devil in a new dress snippets that was minus the EPIC guitar solo? i am most defnitly putting cole world on the same level as MBDTF, but i am making the logical case.

@ marty, dont mean to nitpick, but saigon went to prison and took 40years(lol yes years) and 40nights to make that album. lets give cole a fair chance regarless of the stans. lets just try to be as objective as possible. makes for better opinions.

  200. Cosign @ Doney. I saw that shit and I was just like….that nigga cole…

Also…”Although, this wasn’t the original track young Jermaine hoped Jay would lay vocals on. At the time of recording, Cole presented his mentor with another track by the name of “God’s Gift.”

  201. God Gift was the original track that Jay Z suppose to get on, but J Cole said that was a track where he felt like he should be on by himself.

  202. @therealest

i hear you on what you’re saying to dmv about this j. cole shit but… you honestly think ‘marvin gaye & chardonnay’ was FIRE production?

and this isn’t just shots at you but why is that it seems like almost everyone who refers to j. cole’s production redirects it to another song that is a HIT but not necessarily an original creative good song? like damn near all the songs on ‘finally famous’ contained ‘hip pop’ elements… doesn’t make it wack music but it does take away from it’s originality…

‘can’t get enough’ was probably the most original mainstream crossover sounding beat i’ve heard in a minute… it’s mainstream without losing it’s integrity… marvin gaye & chardonnay sounds like everything else out on the radio…

but i feel you on more or less w/ everything else you said… (reading your 12:35am post)

cole needs to make a project without any industry fuck boys in his crew influencing his sound… just go back to NC, record at ya mama’s house or however you did it back in the day, and get back in your element…
oh and @airborne was right… drake makes songs structured the way HE wants… drake dictates the radio single… he doesn’t let the radio single dictate him… that’s how it should be.
cole should really be making hot songs… then look at them all and say, “which one sounds like it could be a radio single” and not “lemme make something for radio”. i think jay forgot that HE had a number of singles that became radio singles but weren’t tailored for radio… talking about hopping on ‘mr. nice watch’ instead of ‘god’s gift’ because it’s more universally appealing, smh @ this nigga…

  203. Big Seans first single was My Last and that shit is grown man music I dont care what people say cause the piano in that shit was dope. He got hot with the first single and the rcord is gold at this point. Also So Much More and a bunch of other songs on the album make it a solid album. People gonna find reasons to disagree just to be anti anything with mainstream appeal but Big Sean had a better first single and a well rounded album.

  204. If Jay was posed to get on Gods Gift then he wouldve done that but since he’s on Nice Watch thats probably what was supposed to happen.

  205. @ marty, Just saying that God Gift was J cole first Intentions for Jay Z.

  206. ^^^ I get it, im just ready for the 27th to get here already so we can hear all these albums coming out cause either way theres a album for everybody on deck.

  207. you kids need to get laid lol

    its just music

  208. you honestly think ‘marvin gaye & chardonnay’ was FIRE production?

^ hell yeah as far as radio singles go. i dont keep it on my itunes, but when that shit come on i go crazy when that “HOLD UP HOLD UP HOLD UP HOLD UP!! take to the mutafuckin HAND!” that shit a banger. no not creativity wise it aint nothing new. but single-wise? as what the job is asking for, it doesnt get anybetter.

cant get enough with trey songz not touching that. mr. nice watch MIGHT touch it(no homo), but im like damn. niggaz gotta listen to it over and over and over to fucks wit it. and you still cant play it in the club.

someone said it on the another post, but it do sound like watered down WTT. which plays into my theory of jcole thinking he the new ye. which he is not. hes a lil more lyrical, less witty’er, but his production is not on yeezys level. mr nice watch aint “who gon stop me” and it aint touching none of drakes radio singles. so, wtf.(not you but to jcole) wtf.

  209. honestly…its 430 in the morning, im fucked up outta my mind. and the fact that muhfuckas take the time to write page long, 5 paragraph essays on j cole everytime theres a post about him on here just proves that he’s gonna blow up

  210. ^

if he isnt blowin up already

  211. yall spent your entire saturday night writing eachother essays. god damn

  212. Any nigga judgin a album of a bunch of 30 sec snippets is a lame. Niggas arguein all night about Cole Big Sean and Drake lol damn. These the same niggaz that say they would like to hear Mr Nice Watch or Marvin Gaye & Chardonnay in the club. How you wanna hear it in the club if you spend most ur time at night on 2BDZ? lol.

And yo J.Cole need to stop making all those bars about ”Cole World” nigga gonna end up like Wayne making 100 different lines about where the F in his name stands for or how Life’s a bitch. SMH.

  213. “yall spent your entire saturday night writing eachother essays. god damn”

    This.

  214. lmao @ marty spendin like 6 hours on this discussion. lost youre life to the internet i guess.. i’m sorry for you m8

  215. @Marty

    J. Cole just said in an interview he wanted Hov on God’s Gift instead of Mr. Nice Watch.

  216. Where he say that at? And why would he give him Mr Nice watch if thats the case? You dont go from talking about Gods gift to talking about a watch like they have the same value in subject matter.

  217. @Ladi : cosign

  218. LMAO! @ naledge – “These the same niggaz that say they would like to hear Mr Nice Watch or Marvin Gaye & Chardonnay in the club. How you wanna hear it in the club if you spend most ur time at night on 2BDZ?”

    cosign

You gotta be AT the club to hear the shit lol not on this muthafucka on saturday night debate teams lol. On a snippet post though lol?

  219. @Ladi

I’d advise you to AVOID THE TROLL. Even when the facts stare him in the face, he still goes with his opinions. Ignore.

(Proof that Cole wanted Jay on God’s Gift)
    http://www.missinfo.tv/index.php/j-cole-talks-jay-z-getting-on-mr-nice-watch-everything-happens-for-a-reason/

  220. He didnt even mention Gods gift in that whole video dumbass.

  221. Plus what difference does it make anyway. I see where he said he wanted Jay on Gods gift but thats not what happened so who cares. J Cole took the verse for Mr Nice Watch so at the end of the day it is what it is.

  222. Dollar and a Dream III sounds awesome !!

  223. The only thing that makes a record classic is time. You can’t determine a classic with just snippets or whatever. When I first heard The College Dropout I loved it, and when I listen to it now I still love… therefore its a classic. Everybody’s allowed an opinion, I just wished some of you would keep it to yourself… For the record, I didn’t check out the snippets, cuz I like to hear albums in entirety before I judge them.

  224. The only classic i’ve heard for 2011 and maybe the last years was Returnof4eva. And I’m not such a huge fan of that Outkast-type of music usually.

  225. LMAO This is the 1st J. Cole post to have more dislikes than likes. I guess that means the album must be really horrible
