Outkast Headed to Epic Records

According to The Hollywood Reporter, L.A. Reid is bringing Outkast to his new home at Epic Records.

In 1994, LaFace, which had entered into a joint venture partnership with Sony’s Arista Records in 1989, released Outkast’s debut album, Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik. Ten years later, with Reid nearing the end of his presidency at Arista, the duo’s Speakerboxxx/The Love Below sold 11 million copies and won six Grammy awards.

Hopefully this means Outkast will really be dropping an album in 2012!

  6. Yes sir, lets make a new album happen. New label, fresh start and sick music.

  7. While dis iz great newz, I gotta wonder… iz Andre still stuck on Jive az a soloist or not?

  8. if this means new music…. then this is Great news

  10. “10 the hard way”… in 2012

  11. “10 the hard way” comin in 2012, yeah!

  12. I’m assuming the 4 people that have thumbed this down work at Jive. At the very least, this shows a strong mutual interest in them working together again. Otherwise, label shit doesn’t really matter, does it?

  13. The Love Below is still one of my absolute favorite albums. I’m more excited for Andre’s solo album than the Outkast one

  14. Outkast = greatest ever.

  15. The Love Below is still one of my absolute favorite albums. I’m more excited for Andre’s solo album than the Outkast one

LOL. The Love Below was a terrible misstep for Andre 3000. ATLiens and Aquemini are two of the top 20 albums in the history of MUSIC, not just hip-hop/rap. Gtfoh with that shit.

  16. Love Below changed the game for better or worse. Its the predecessor to the 808′s and Heartbreaks, So Far Gone trends. Love it or hate it, it was definitely influential.

  17. ^STOP STOP STOP

I hate that trend, and even though you’re right, I really don’t want to credit Dre3k for the death of hip hop.

  18. L.A. Reid isn’t bringing Outkast to Epic. Epic took over Jive Records which means Outkast was already on Epic for Reid got there. SMH

SN: Hopefully, Reid can inspire Andre to get his ass back in the studio. There hasnt been a proper rap Outkast album in 11 years.

  19. WHATTT!!??? Good Move!!

  20. The REAL kings of this hip hop shit back at it again its about fuckin time!!!!
