Although, this wasn’t the original track young Jermaine hoped Jay would lay vocals on. At the time of recording, Cole presented his mentor with another track by the name of “God’s Gift. ”
“Everything worked out, I’m a true believer that everything happens for a reason. Like, when he did that, it made way more sense than my song. It’s a bigger record, a more universal record,” he continued. “Being the hip-hop nerd that I am, I would have loved to hear Jay-Z on that ["God's Gift"] beat. But really, I’m fine on that song alone. ”
The twenty-six-year-old spitta says he wasn’t able to witness Jiggaman bless his track. In fact, the end result came when he had all but lost hope for the dream collaboration.
“He was in L.A. and I got [there] that day around the VMAs or whatever. He actually pushed back the mastering, we went to mastering with no Jay-Z verse. I was like ‘oh okay cool, I guess he can’t do it,’ Cole told VIBE.
“They were mastering the last song, and this is such a Jay-Z move, he called in and stopped the mastering and pushed it back like a week. Only he can do that. ”
As for his track “God’s Gift,” Cole revealed another MC’s name he wanted to pull last minute.
“Yeah, I was trying to do a last minute Nas thing but I couldn’t. I didn’t have enough time, and then I laid a new verse on the slot I saved for Jay but I ended up not liking it. So I ended up keeping it two verses. It’s cool, it still worked out.” – VIBE
That song is rumored to drop today. Also, the video for “Can’t Get Enough” is set to debut tonight at 10pm EST.

If u dont buy this album ur not a hip hop fan
baby thighs.
of course jay-z’s ass wouldnt be nice enough to hop on gods gift so he picked the fucking dupstep joint..mr.nicewatch…i knew it would happen o well.i hope its dope.
Imagine if jay took a shot at weezy and j. cole took a shot at drake in this song. Roc Nation YM BEEF.
I think NYC Brooklyn is actually papoose
obviously a money move. Mr. Nice Watch = dubstep = universal = mass appeal = jay in the news
Thats not a Money move…Jigga just dropped Who Gon Stop me now which is startin to get radio-play as a dubstep single. If Cole drops this track now the album won’t even be that special why dude keep droppin all the good tracks smh he previewed God’s Gift now this. Nigga ain’t thinkin straight.
Work out’s finally peaking right now e.g. No.4 on BET 106 and Park and substantial radio play.
CGE video to drop today and hit radio soon. Err’body gonna be all up on that.
and Mr Nice Watch with Jay sounds pretty epic too.
“Imagine if jay took a shot at weezy and j. cole took a shot at drake in this song. Roc Nation YM BEEF.”
j.cole is not a drakes level drake wouldnt even need to respond. i like him though. keep fantasizing though.
@ Randy
J cole is def more hyped than big sean b4 his album and drake found the need to pussy-foot around beef back then. i dont think it has anything to do with status i just think no MC wants to put himself out there anymore. drake is the king of vague shit talkin but he’ll never drop a name
@naledge wut u internet ppl who dont step out of the house dont realize, is the internet isnt the be all end all, specially when it comes to sales. look at weezy, he had no internet hype for carter IV, but still went a milli.
Cole is smart to drop the hardest trak now and the video, build solid buzz two weeks b4 the album drops, under his control, so it gets promoted right. the album gonna b leakin soon anyway, he got nothin to lose
nice watch is dubstep???
i’m gonna cry. dubstep is shit, and for idiot bass loving retards.
Jay would’ve killed God’s Gift lol. Let’s hope for a remix or something.
@Randy you don’t have to be a at a certain level to diss drake, i mean c’mon, it’s fuckin drake lol
@yung drake wouldnt hav to respond to j.cole for the same reason jay doesnt have to respond to game or joe buddens. just saying…. since j.coles groupies are fantasizing and trying to put j.cole on a level he isnt even on.
the only reason drake addressed the big sean shit was because of the whole style jacking controversy.
he has no reason to beef with j.cole.
j.cole has 2 singles that arent making nearly as much noise as people were hoping.
big sean had good singles frequent radio play. wiz had even better. j.cole is underperforming. hope he does okay though. but j.cole fans dont want to hear that. they have too much bias and too much denial to be reasonable.
j.cole fans cant be taken seriously. when work out jokes they were saying the shit is fire lying through their teeth. forcing themselves to give it good reviews. then when it was revealed that it was taken off the album they celebrated. they will cosign any and everything cole makes because they are so obsessed with making him the next nas or whatever… but they forget that there is a world outside of the blogs.
cool story bro
THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU ATTEMPT TO MAKE MAINSTREAM SINGLES FOR AN AUDIENCE THAT LISTENS TO RAPPERS THAT WEAR WOMEN’S CLOTHING AND SAG THEIR PANTS.
COLE, YOU MISSED UP BIG TIME. INSTEAD OF TAKING YOUR TIME TO MAKING A CLASSIC LIKE BIG KRIT. YOU RUSHED YOURSELF INTO MAKING SOMETHING WITH MASS APPEAL… TOO BAD THE MAINSTREAM AINT FEELING YOU LIKE THAT.
YOU HAD WHO DAT, IN THE MORNING, ALL I WANT IS YOU, WORKOUT, CANT GET ENOUGH… NOW MR. NICE WATCH– YET YOUR BUZZ IS MEDIOCRE.
IT’S LIKE YOU’RE THROWING SHIT ON THE WALL AND NOTHING IS STICKING, BECAUSE ALL THOSE RECORDS ARE THE SAME FORMULAIC SHIT THAT PEOPLE BEEN HEARD FROM BETTER ARTISTS WITH BETTER VERSIONS.
COLE, YOU LACK INNOVATION. DUBSTEP BEATS ARE COOL BUT IS IT COHESIVE WITH YOUR ALBUM’S SOUND?
AS FOR JAY Z ROCKING ON MR. NICE WATCH OVER GOD’S GIFT… I TOLD YOU BEFORE, YOU SIGN TO A SNAKE AND DONT BE SHOCK IF YOU GET BITTEN.
^^^ does this black snow, Nyc/brooklyn-wannabe even deserve the time of day?
U CORNY!
here goes A. Hole with another one of his lame excuses. this nigga’s album was under development for like four years now. A. Hole turned in two different versions of the sideline story and jay-z and other people on the label rejected them. A. Hole placed some of those rejects on his mixtapes, and now some of those rejects will be bonus cuts. the problem yall niggaz fail to mention is, there wasn’t even supposed to be any special features in this album. the first three years all this nigga was saying in his interviews was, he was going about the album with just him and his beats. when all the song rejections came into play, they had to reconsider him working with other artists and producers. he had to re-write and re-do alot of his shit. this nigga ain’t got the smarts to realize his choruses are wack and his beats are garbage. now he sitting back talking about he had to wait on lyrics from jay and scheduling conflicts with Nas. this stubborn nigga was avoiding too many features because he would of got exposed and destroyed on his own album. he’s not lyrically prepared to go word or flow with those rappers he would of wanted on the album. his album was delayed because of HIM. he was too busy sucking off his own dick in interviews because of a few mediocre internet mixtapes. just go back niggaz, go back and listen to his mixtapes. the nigga was real preachy about being some real hip hop head shit, even though he ain’t fool the real niggaz. he was dissin’ them studio R&B rappers singing in their choruses and 90% of this hypocrite songs today he’s doing the same shit. you niggaz, the dickriders, you fuckers over-rated this nigga than any other rapper in the history of the game. I know he has to limit himself and prepare himself for cross-over appeal. that’s kool and all, but the nigga can’t do it. if this nigga is that great, why can’t this nigga make a better radio friendly song than those other wack niggaz of today.
A. HOLE YOU PAPOOSED YOURSELF!!!©
If he would’ve got Nas on there that would’ve been crazy! I bet Jay would’ve never extended mastering for that shit tho lol.
that woulda been ill if he got Nas…
Wish he got Nas.. would have been huge to have nas and jay on the same album, with their past and everything. I think Cole would have been the only rapper to have those two legends on the same album
This dude does not know how to promote. “It’s cool it all worked out”. This interveiw made me want to take a nap not buy his album.
