The edge that Drake has over a lot of other artists is the way that he gets his message across. His music is crafted in such a way (Sonically, lyrically, etc…) that does an AMAZING job at conveying the message that he wants to get across. Yes – He talks about the same thing a lot, but he presents it so well that it comes off as one big long story where he just keeps adding more and more detail.
This is what he did so well on So Far Gone, but struggled with on “Thank Me Later”. But with everything I’ve heard on “Take Care”, this guy figured it out again.

Drake is a pop artist, so to ask him to come with a different formula or to display the same talent as your favorite hip-hop artists is unreasonable. When it comes to making songs that will get radio play, and are down right catchy he is near the top. He’s never going to give his detractors an amazing concept album, or great story telling.
