This interview is from back in March, but a skeptical Weezy explains how the stars were aligned for him to do a million in a week with Tha Carter III, and how he didn’t believe [then] that he could match the success of that release.
As we all know now, he got really close this time around, though.

Idk whats harder to believe, Weezy almost hitting a milli again and having those types of numbers or people really buying his stuff…
shake you know damn well birdman bought seven hundred thousand of them shits.
how come i cant thumb up & down on here?
St. Alfreds fitted, nice.
dont know anyone who listens to him apart from the little white kid who lives above me
Lil wayne is flaming hot gawbage son
I love his style..
damn hes looking rough these days.. but this is actually a sick interview. he fucking nails it. people listen to him because he just floods everything with content and the mainstream knows nothing better
^Wayne ain’t as dumb as people think he is. He knows exactly what’s going on. And say what you want about him, all he’s done in the 7 years he’s been really hot not is flood the game with content. To the The Drought tapes, to features on pop singles. Just pure hard work. Only other rapper I can think of with that kind of consistency, is Nicki Minaj, and it shows.
That should say “all he’s done in the 7 years he has been really hot is flood the game with content” no idea why the sentence came out like that. Lol.
da fuck? i can’t thumbs up but ppl can thumbs down?
the only other rapper with that consistancy is nicki minaj? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. nicki fucking minaj….
If you wanna see (and laugh at) insecure people aka haters, just click a Wayne post. They always comment! Hahaha.
^Na, man, you’re hating too hard to see his point, and it’s a valid one. Mainstream singles over and over again, jumping on every new act you can find just in case one of them hits, putting out random tracks consistently for a year before you finally drop your album, cross-promoting endlessly, mixtapes out the ass; this is the new marketing plan, and Wayne pioneered it. I don’t like his music- flat out, I just don’t like it- but I have to give him credit for his promotion. Look at the acts that have jumped to the first class of mainstream rap since Wayne blew up:
Drake
Rick Ross
Nicki Minaj
All of them used the exact same promotional formula. This is the ADD Age, ladies and gentlemen. The Eminem/Jay Z days of 3 tracks a year are quickly falling behind us; people today want constant entertainment, not music. Give them anything and everything, fuck quality control, and let the masses make their own decisions.
At the very least, you’ll keep them interested.

Holy shit. Dude, you understood exactly what I said, and explained it in such a way…don’t even waste words like that here man. It won’t hit anyone. These niggas are retarded. And they think just cause they listen to Kendrick Lamar, they’re not retarded. This shit is way deeper than music.
