Probably one of the best debates/convos we’ve had as a crew. Today’s discussion revolves around the release, the production and the effect of Watch The Throne has had on the game thus far. Will other artists follow suit? Will labels find more intricate ways to release LPs? For the second half of the debate, we discuss the “Luxury Rap” elephant in the room when it comes to Watch The Throne? Are you tired of it? Oh you are? Turn the shit off. I ain’t rich, but I ain’t mad either lol. Sidebar: 03:21-4:37 is FUCKERY at its finest. NO PAUSE lol.
Latest visual debate between my man Lowkey and company.

Please find these niggas a 9 to 5 because they don’t know shit about hip hop, who gives a fuck about their opinions or what they think because this is my first time even hearing about these fools.
“Effect” not “Affect” <– +1
You can thank Big for the luxury rap era.
It used to be the fake it till you make it era.
Jay Z ran with that and faked it till he made it and now we have luxury rap.
Which is why I never put big or jay in my top 10.
Throw in Puffy and all the terrible south rappers we have had over the decades from Master P to Lil Flip to Lil John to Waka and Gucci.
RIP rap music.
fuk luxury rap,fuk watch the throne that mediocre ass project
It’s like making a big deal about nothing. Not innovative, nothing to see here..move on “will others follow suit” COME ON…it’s a shitty duo album, get over it. Not a classic and NOTHING new. It’s like making a deal about nothing haha.
what other genre of music do people really brag about material things at the level that luxury rap does. . . i aint mad at them but at the same time you want to vibe with music that reflects your own emotions and struggles. to know that you aint the only one going through it. good conversation though. but it aint about whisper your success and scream your misery but its more like misery likes company. if i am struggling with shit, I want an anthem that I can sing to myself about overcoming that not a song about being in paris but something like jay electronicas dear moleskine. but thats just me. i rock lift off, new day, niggaz in paris.
Yall niggas probably havent even watched the video!
THIS IS WHY EVERYONE SHOULD BE LISTENING TO ELZHI… someone who doesnt scream his pain even though he’s struggling somewhat but at the same time has good attitiude and at the same time has incredible talent and his very versatile… if u havnt heard ELMATIC yet then you are MISSING OUT!!!! give it a listen.. pays tribute to NAS
I actually think they made a lot of sense in this video. They normally don’t make a lotta sense and I don’t agree with their views/statements but they actually made some great points in this vid. And I don’t like the term “luxury rap.” I prefer calling it braggadocio. And Jay has always been witty, funny, and creative when he’s rapping that way so I’ve enjoyed it for the most part. And yea they definitely do talk about more than just how much money they make on the album. There’s several quotables on there.
@ Philly, lol throw Puffy with all the terrible south rappers, the south is not compiled of all “terrible” rappers. Do we have the Guccis, Master P and Lil John yea but the south hip hop music was built to make people dance and have a good time. You don’t have to be hard all the time when rapping, when rapping having fun is an element of hip hop to in fact Big Daddy Kane and Kurtis Blow made music that people could dance too to and they are far from terrible. But you just named a couple of niggas we home to UGK, OUTKAST, GOODIE MOB, TIP, LUDACRIS, SCARFACE AND WAYNE to we are far from terrible, it’s not one region in the nation a bad rapper doesn’t reside.
1. very immature lol
2. sooo WTT was so great cos it didnt leak? er ok..but the moment it hit itunes..it was ripped and online within the hour ppl still got it for free…meh.
3. the MONEY TALK…ppl hate it cos its BORING dude lol u think if marvin gaye, donny hathaway, stevie wonder, nina simone etc etc sang about how many jewels bentleys n jewels
and lets be honest..most money talk isnt MOTIVATION cos ur not TAUGHT how to get it and theres rags to riches tales and theres bragging which makes up the majority of rap which gets mundane and boring if it was done in a unique way then yea..
we want them to scream their pain? no…i dont like EMO music but this is just honestly boring tv talks about money , magazines, movies and with music too..dude its just boring.
we want them to scream the
“Why is it that we want these artist to scream about their misery but we want them to whisper their successes.”
That shit is actually pretty wise. Gotta give it up to the Jumpoff crew for that.
these dudes seem uber homo.. without the reference to drake and wayne being big.
i love a chick who can quote and understand jay z.. so points for that.. and the fact the camera man was determined to make it seem like she was naked, double points.
those cuts are un.needingly excessive though.
^^i dont i dont think most ppl do considering 95% of songs are ppl singing about jewels ice and bentleys…
but dude its BORING lol if thats all u rap about rap is supposed to b a form of poetry..how can u ONLY make poetry about diamond rings…to what end?
The interviews are HORRIBLE. Look how many takes and how choppy it is, like every 4 seconds, chop. chop. Can’t even record these clowns for 5 seconds without making another take.
I don’t have a problem with luxury rap, depending on who’s doing it tho to be honest. With their album I liked it cause instead of hating on them it makes me want to work harder and achieve as much. Their is a difference between “hood rich” and being really rich like jay z is. I kind of admire his hustle ever since I watched the interview with him and Warren Buffet.
There* (fucking iPhone)
That whole motivating luxury rap is bullshit and totally exaggerated that whole crew are Jay and Kanye dick riders the project was so average but all you sheeps ate it up and call it a classic
^^
You mad bro?
Can’t please everybody…so like it or not and shut the fuck up…this is actually the only debate that’s not outrageous
@Stop
They’re not dick riders. They didn’t hype up either one of them. The reason why people are hyping it was because it was a solid album all the way through and its the two biggest rappers in the game in one album. The girl is right tho. 10 years from now people will like it just becasue its Jay-Z and Kanye West. Stop you just sound bitter as hell. Different people have different motivations in life. Someone might get some inspiration to improve their life if their favorite artist manged to go from nothing to something.
I know im speaking too soon, but im glad the jiggalovin’ trolls haven’t shown up yet.
Watch The Throne brought hip hop back into the mainstream
@bill if they need a rap song to motivate them to get up off their ass and make money and produce these videos then goodluck to them cause there gonna need it… By the way the album was a solid 6/10
Sir Michael Rocks is the only rapper i will listen to that raps about luxury
If people knew & cared as much about ecomomicsm politics, & things that matter in life as much they do about trivial rap shit such as this wack ass album, the country might not be as fucked as it already is.
*economics
LOL @ Made in America being on anybody’s rotation. I appreciate the message, but man that song is so contrived and just dripping with unnecessary sap!
I judge everything as art, independent of the message. Two of my favorite albums ever: OB4CL and Black on Both Sides, so there’s your frame of reference for anybody that wants to judge my opinion. But whether “luxury rap” or “social rap” or “unborn child rap” or whatever you wanna categorize the songs on this album as… it boils down to the bulk of it being totally mediocre. We’ve heard so much better from both these guys independently, that I think classifying this as a success artistically is fucking bogus.
Bullshit! WTT is wack as a Hip-Hop album…
WHO ARE THESE LOSERS??? ….talking like their the “GO-TO-EXPERTS” lol…. never heard of any of these people. Also…
WTF is up with the video editing? Did anybody else get annoyed as hell after 14sec of this sh*t
2dbz…. stop posting this gar-bage!
According to you niggas, The Hip Hop rulebook states that if rappers are rich, live lavish lifestyles and go to Paris and drive cars and wear clothes the average listener can’t even afford to dream about, they AREN’T ALOUD TO RAP ABOUT IT because the only thing rappers are aloud to talk about is being broke and having a minimum wage job and never being successful in life. Even if the rappers are two of the most INFLUENTIAL ARTISTS of the last 10 years. S. M. H.

I gave this album an honest listen while traveling home on I-95. This has got to be the worst, most hyped up album of the year. Especially when making a big deal about doing digital release only. Indie cats been doing it for years. Major labels are late. Most people still downloaded that hoe for the free-eazy. If people want to dick ride let them. They will miss the point all together. VALUE. This shit has no VALUE! Same lyrics, same formulas, same tracks, same gimmics. If you like it, no problem. I’m not feeling it but somebody does. Let em be. “Watch The Bones”

i swear yall “hip hop fans” are so fuckin picky sometimes. let these niggas rap about the life their actually living. thats what hip hop is. if you wanna hear club bangers and shit listen to niggas who do that shit everyday. wanna hear shit bout smoking weed then listen to Curren$y.. like that golden age shit? go with Fashawn, or Elzhi, or even Blu.. we all got so many niggas to listen to. theres hip hop for everyone so stop the fuckin hating.
co-sign purple slick
you also forgot that gangsta hustle music. thats why i keep boss of all bosses II in rotation and is PATIENTLY waiting on boss of all bossess III. but niggaz dont care that they can take they pick of what kind of music to listen to. they CHOOSE to hate. its a choice and lifestyle for them
Before I get started on this shit again and for the last time really cause im done with it , if you dont like raps about being successful then two albums of equally dope shit I believe is gonna be Phonte album and Evidence album. Now for WTT , this shit is obviously gonna be album of the year cause just off hype alone people gonna still keep bringing up this album. Ive listed all the songs that have substance but people keep ignoring that shit so lets pretend that WTT is only Lift Off , Otis , Gotta Have It , Niggas in Paris , Who gon stop me , Thats my bitch and Ham cause thats what all ya’ll are doing anyway cause the minute I bring up the songs with substance you aint gonna wanna talk about that cause really you all know the album is balanced well in subject matter. Have you ever heard the saying “play your position”? What do you think WTT is doing , do you think they competing with other rappers at this point? Hell no cause both these dudes stay on the road with pop singers and rock n roll legends. People talk about Jays money more then he does so is he not posed to talk about it? Now I gotta a question why do people watch movies like Scarface? Do you think they can relate to Tony Montanas story? Fuck no but the feel his ambition. Why the fuck would you wanna listen to music about not striving to be successful? Why would you wanna keep feeling the emotions of struggle and depression without listening to the possibility of success? Jay has been leading the culture in trends for more then ten years now and thats cause he doesnt wanna see you lil mothafuckas broke he wants ya’ll to get money so he talks about it so you go out and do it. He said a few albums ago “I dont buy the bright watch I buy the right watch” Thats not stunting on you thats teaching you how to ball. He brought this whole luxury rap in the game in the first place and why the fuck dont you wanna know about success and what it means? I promise you , all the brand names you know about from clothes to cars to jewelry and champagne you probably heard from Jay or Puffs rhymes at first. Stop wanting to always praise the struggle and admire people who dont want to be successful. Lastly for every song you can bring up as luxury rap on WTT I can counter that with a substance song but you dont even wanna act like those songs exist cause your argument would look stupid. The album of the year on the mainstream side of hip hop will be WTT cause other then Take Care from Drake they have no other competition.

There’s nothing wrong with talking about luxury in rap if that’s what you’re living. I may not relate to it but I can respect it cuz they’re at least being real which is more than you can say about a lot of other rappers. Pretty good album. New Day, Primetime, Why I Love You, and Otis were all 10/10 tracks in my opinion. The rest were just alright to me.
^ *and the hate start starts to flow in
All i read were honest opinions. you wanna label it hate like a Jay Z fanatic or something. There was no hate here till you showed up with your “YOU HAVE TO LIKE IT OR YOURE JUST A HATER SHIT.” Let niggas have an opinion and thats it. Getting mad at someones opinion is a feminine trait.
in my opinion, it was a solid album just not in the right order. after listening to it for a while i had to rearange the shit
Niggaz in Paris(that shit just sets the tone of the album)
Lift Off
Otis
The Joy(perfect after otis and right before gotta have it)
Gotta Have It
No Church In The Wild
New Day
Who Gon Stop Me
HAM (yes HAM. after listening to it, that shit do fit in with the overall vibe of the album. especially after who gon stop me)
Murder To Excellence
Made In American
Why I Love You
Illest Muthafucka Alive
the track order is a key when listening to it as a whole. but this is just my opinion. but try it out tho. see if the album dont sound better.

^ was your comment, if that doesnt sound like a hater, i dont know what is. your sounding like the female with your “if i dont like it im a hater” cry. im talking bout your bitch comment.
Some of you people just dont like anything thats real and that has a high level of success. The same kind of people that wont mention anything good that the president has done but will only bring up the problems he didnt create. The same kind of people who refuse to see the bigger picture but like to praise anything that represents ignorance. You dont have to like WTT but say you dont like it cause its musically not your thing. Dont sit up here and act like Jay aint been talking about money on every album. How many 20 year olds you know that have been to Paris? Ok then , so just by naming a song Niggas In Paris you should feel inspired to travel there or anywhere else outside your block. Lastly if your black and you talking shit about Jay and Kanye outside of whats on the album musically? You the same kind of people that conspired to get Malcolm killed cause its all good when you see someone struggling on the street but the minute they represent something great you turn your back on them. If you dont like what I gotta say I really dont give a fuck cause you aint really saying nothing. WTT is the soundtrack for people who want something better in life. Now go back to listening some underground , kill everybody , selling coke raps or some lyrical shit that has 100 rhyme patterns but really means nothing or some raps about being righteous but every other song is about something ignorant.
^^^^^^
That isnt hate. That is the truth. chill on the estrogen.
And you seem to be a dyslexic faggot, cuz you read comments and draw your own conclusions.
lol alright. w.e. i had a whole essay lined up and just deleted it. theres no point. at the end of the day your definition of a hater. im not gonna insult you, im just gonna call you what you are.
@marty mcfly
I just remembered this. I know that you think being lyrical is ALMOST a fact that can be measured but Jay-Z said being lyrical is an opinion. Who’s right?
Shake: learn how to fucking spell and stop posting these fucking clowns.
Marty McFly: kill yourself
Can an album just be bad sonically in 2011? I wasn’t feeling the album but it was just because they was too much bragging. I just didn’t want to hear it. I’m not a hater. If I liked it I would listen to it but I really do not care to listen to it anymore. Primetime and Murder To Excellence was str8 though.
How can someone who likes hip-hop hate WTT? WTT is being bumped all over America. Hip hop is prevalent in the mainstream because of these two guys. Maybe that’ll attract more fans to the genre of hip hop and then those new fans can get introduced to the new cats like Kendrick and Cole.
Why hate on WTT, i’d rather hear this being bumped consistently then some gay ass Waka Flaka shit. Niggas need to calm down.
WTT 8/10. Naomi Russel is the baddest bitch alive.

@ radio killa
okay. u seem pretty level-headed and unbias. so you didnt like new day or made in america or why i love you? why not? just a question.
yeah, you the kind of faggot to take maaad time to write an essay in fuckin hiphop blog. thats sooo productive, youll have WTT status, and be where u need to be in life.
Yall need to stfu. I like these debates. Quit being idiotic.
@ ganggrene
if i have the time to visit a hiphop blog, then i have the time to write as much as i want. not rocket science, genuis. please have something valid to say instead of using hater-logic.
and for the record, im not looking to reach a billi. im not as materialistic as you and *MOST niggaz that dont like WTT. u wanna be as rich as them so u cant stand to see them with the things u dream about. and thats sad really.
*disclaimer: since i know niggaz like to take one thing out and twist it around, i said MOST niggaz. i know not all ppl share that reason for disliking the album, but that is most niggaz reason for it. like the character im talkin to.
Are The Realest & Marty the only normal people here anymore?
everyone else here has so much hate in their hearts that they click on a link that has Jay-Z’s name in it… just to say something bad…. that is what a HATER is… people who are Jay-Z fans generally don’t go on other artists’ posts to speak bad about them…
this is because these guys are just insecure that rappers like Jay-Z and Kanye are better than their favorite rappers.. and it just makes them mad
you people are sad
blah blah blah……
I honestly don’t care about this because I don’t care about WTT. I haven’t liked Jay for years and I haven’t liked Kanye since Late Registration
thats the beauty in hip-hop, so many styles to choose from. i like listening to shit i can relate to but WTT was dope as fuck! it really jus depends on the mood im in.
my fav albums this year were WTT and Section80. and theyre totally differeent but equally as great.
Haters are hypocritical because they aren’t arguing over principle but on situation. Situations change. WTT is a good album. People are just really closed minded too it. Watch the news you will hear stories about everything that is wrong. Many Americans are living that. Success stories promote hope. I have enough statisitcs telling me about how poor black ameriancs are. I love seeing and knowing there are some people who ” Made it in America”. Let’s promote postive images. Even if the luxtary rap songs, they are still vastly taltned innovators. When your favorite rappers talks about having money, remember how opposed you were when Jay-z and Kanye West spoke on the same content. Biggest Difference your rappers lie, Jay and Kanye actually are wealthy.
@DE
too true. beauty of hiphop is to enjoy it and share it with people. this blog should be about dope lines from the album or how someone thought a certain beat would have gone better with a certain song/lyrics. nuff with this hating shit my god. the reason there is waka’s and everyone from him to jay is cuz there are tons of different people in this world with different taste/opinion. clearly ur not gonna agree with everyone. just enjoy the shit man
-heyzeus
they click on a link that has Jay-Z’s name in it… just to say something bad…. that is what a HATER is…
^ FACT.
this is because these guys are just insecure that rappers like Jay-Z and Kanye are better than their favorite rappers.. and it just makes them mad

I’m like fuck critics, you can kiss my whole asshole, if you don’t like my lyrics, you can press fast forward…”
Sean C. Carter. Enough said.
for example, i fucking love what they say in thats my bitch and who gon stop me. but i feel like the beats dont go right with the tone of the album and the who gon stop is just too dub-step for me. if they reworked that track into a “primetime”ish song with a no ID beat, i woulda loved it so much more
-heyzeus
That was a great triple entendre…
gotta say… this was the dopest discussion yet.
and hahahahahahahahaha wow i was dyin’ when Mek said “Ughn! She gets the Rick Ross grunt on that one…. UGHN!” HAHAHAHA!!
but uh my top 3:
1) Niggas In Paris (mainly cuz it bangs and i love the will ferrell samples)
2) Gotta Have It (production/lyrics)
3) Murder to Excellence (basically everything)
@ Jesusshuttlesworth, I agree . As a producer myself I didnt like the production and the arrangements of the album. Strong lyrics but simple production and topics way too predictable IMO. Nothing epic except for Murder with Excellences. Their was no other sound that inspired me except for that song and Thats My Bitch. WTT is a good album and some may enjoy it more than others but my level of musical content wont let me get into it, I am a very hard critic not just on music but for Art in general.
Marty mcfly get a girlfriend already.. sheesh. Fucking keyboard whore.
@manum , somebody gotta tell the truth cause clearly its not always being told. Im glad I make people like you mad too. Punk
Who gives a shit….bla bla bla
Some of you have too much time on your hands to write paragraphs on top of paragraphs.
Watch The Throne is a solid album and its not all bragging. That’s not to say that the elements of “Luxury” isn’t there.
And who’s saying WTT is album of the year? That’s debatable that it is the Hip Hop Album Of The Year. But overall album of the year? Hell no.
Best album of the year PERIOD is Adele’s 21. In a few years, that shit will be a classic.
Jays n Yeezys strategy???? these guys have no idea what tha fuck is going on !!
Scores of independent US music stores have written an open letter to Jay-Z and Kanye West over exclusive release deals for their upcoming album.
Watch The Throne will be released first on iTunes before the Best Buy chain’s exclusive deal to sell the album nearly two weeks ahead of other music retailers.
The letter says the deal will do “great damage” to more than 1,700 record stores and calls for equal access.
Jay-Z’s spokesman had no comment.
Posted by the organisers of Record Store Day, the letter has been signed by shops across the US and calls the release plan a “short-sighted strategy”.
“We know that you are busy, and that you put most of your energies into creating great music, but we are writing to you in the hope that you will hear us and take the time to rectify this matter,” the letter states.
“As representatives of the independent record store music community, we are asking you to allow record stores and music fans equal access to your new album.”
‘Disastrous’
Some of the letter’s signatories have also threatened to pull current and previous releases by the two artists from their shelves.
Others in the music retail industry have also criticised the move.
“A two-week window will be disastrous for music retailers,” said Eric Levin, owner of Criminal Records and the head of the Alliance of Independent Media Stores.
this may sound dumb to yal, but this kinda why i like white rappers . i don’t hear them (minus khalifs little surf project ) talk bout luxury rap , they keep it real and relatable
SMH @ppl sticking for rich rappers who don’t give 1, 2, or 3 shits about them.
1. No Church in the Wild (ft. Frank Ocean) – Thought the beat was kinda average at first to be honest wit yall. But the shit been growin on me. The fact that Jay brought back one of his most boring flows…the same one he used on Pray off American Gangster…didnt help nothin tho. Yeezy drops his least EMPHASIZED bars in a minute n gets the green light from Jiggaman to bring autotune back. I dont kno what hour in the day this shit was recorded but it sounds like some 5 AM shit. In the end tho… both them niggas got the job done n start shit off on the rite foot nahmean. The victim of Breezy’s high pitched goon squad attack did his thing too.
2. Lift Off (ft. Beyonce) – I almost aint wanna even comment on this shit son…. I dont even kno what to say bout it yo. This shit sounds like the anthem the fairies in Ferngully would use to go to war against evil humans to or some shit b. This shit is like Shia LeBeouf in song form yo. Lissenin to this shit is like havin ya ears penetrated by a million microscopic dicks namsayin. Shit sounds like niggas doin aerobics on a magical cloud of daisies. How many meadows did Kanye cartwheel across before he decided to make this beat? Seriously yo…. Jus how many lily pads did the nigga skip across the pond on before he got inspired to make some shit like this? Definitely one a the worst songs Jay ever been involved in…thats includin those lame joints off Vol 3 wit Amil n Mariah or the worst songs off Kingdom Come….EVEN the Timbo joints off Blueprint 3. Like this joint is SOFT son. Guess thats why Jay only spit like 5 n a half bars on it. Its like the song Yung Berg would play before he goes n commits his latest string of L’s. Shit is jus terrible son…especially since it took like 6 niggas to produce this muthafucka.
3. Niggas in Paris – If you can ignore the homoerotic title the shit actually aint bad son. I prefer it once the beat changes up tho. It starts off soundin like some shit them Young Money niggas mighta left behind in the studio one day. Like I swear I can hear Gudda Gudda gettin his mediocre on in the background for the first 2:43 minutes. But then shit gets dramatic n its all good yo. it aint really the monster track niggas made that shit out to be tho.
4. Otis (ft. Otis Redding) – First off they need to not be actin like Otis Redding is a “featured” artist on this shit. Since when do niggas sample a dude n then call that shit a feature. Son aint even been alive for like 40 years b. Otis Redding is my dude tho…so dont get that shit twisted son. That bein said…this shit still goes nahmean. Folks been divided on this joint for a minute…but that aint stop the dozen hasbeen ass niggas who hopped on this shit from strugglin the fuck out on it (Im lookin at you DMX).
5. Gotta Have It – This shit probably the least Neptunes soundin beat the Neptunes ever produced yo. Not sayin thats a bad thing tho. Im glad they aint bring no bongos or space sounds to this shit g. Niggas is jus tradin bars on some back n forth shit n basically talkin bout the usual shit they do. Kinda jus a filler joint nahmean. It probably wont be the next single or nothin…but its still a ill joint namsayin. This shit also got The Godfather of Soul’s voice all over it…but they aint put “featuring James Brown” on the tracklist for some reason. Guess they missed that one.
6. New Day – “Me n the RZA connect”….thats a nice little quasi-hook rite ther namsayin. Sorry yo…this aint the 36 Chambers RZA…but it aint the “fuckin ridicalish” aint had a meal in a hot minute soundin RZA neither yo. It basically dont sound like a RZA joint at all son. He aint bring out the pointy ass rings n get on his BONG BONG shit or nothin but the god did his thing namsayin. Shit has Kanyes fingerprints all over it still tho.
7. Thats My Bitch – I aint the biggest fan a this shit rite here yo. It aint horrible or nothin but I remember when this shit was unleashed at the end a last year n it still aint grow on me like that. Its got all that retro hip hop shit happenin on it but I aint feelin the end results like that. Not sayin its wack….but I be skippin this joint usually.
8. Welcome To The Jungle – If Jay gon insist on usin this niggas bullshit ass beats still…the least he can do is make sure that Swizzy dont go near the booth yo. Ayo Snoop Budden…nobody gon need to hear you gettin ya “One hand in the air if you dont really care” on durin the hooks to no joints ever ever ever again son. Jus go back to contaminatin whats left of Alicia Keys n stop cashin in those favors niggas owe you to get on these high profile joints you malnourished ass lookin muthafucka. Son been urinatin wackness on these songs for years now b…. so can we jus acknowledge that the nigga got no business actin like he kno how to put together a hook now n stop lettin this whippet lookin muthafucka get near a mic?
9. Who Gon Stop Me – Now THIS shit is a problem yo. When it started the god was like ok cool….you kno…I was enjoyin it….the bassline was soundin like a lion growlin n shit. There wasa ill mood to it. Im diggin the joint namsayin….but then it starts really transformin into a monster after a couple minutes….n its like yo…we got a serious contender for best song on the album now. By the middle it sounds like niggas is drivin Lamborghinis around in the studio n drums is hittin like automatic weapons. I love this track son.
10. Murder to Excellence – Another ill joint. Not a lot I can say bout it tho son. If you heard it you kno its jus a solid track namsayin. Like a lotta these songs its got a change up in the beat halfway through. If I had to guess Id say its probably Wyclef’s favorite song on the album tho.
11. Made In America (ft. Frank Ocean) – First of all son….Lionel Richie called from 1986 n said he wants his song back yo. Word. Sade jus holla’d on twitter to say this shit is soft as fuck namsayin. I think Elton John wants to conceive babies to this joint b. Drake said he gon soak in his lotion pool to this shit rite here for like a week son. I think Wiz Khagina is scissorin wit Amber Rose to this shit rite now as we speak yo. I heard this shit gon be used for the next Gwyneth Paltrow movie too. I dont kno how the same nigga that did Who Gon Stop Me had anything to do wit this shit but apparently he did nahmean. This shit sounds like two niggas hang glidin over the ocean together at sunset holdin hands son. I think this is bout to be on Yung Berg’s yoga playlist. I cant fuck wit this shit at all b. This shit is like audio lesbian comin out my speakers son.
12. Why I Love You (ft. Mr Hudson) – Its almost like they knew they couldnt end the album on that Made In America shit. Contrary to the title n the fact that it says “featuring Mr Hudson” on this muthafucka….this shit goes hard yo. Mr Hudson does his thing too son. I fucks wit this joint forreal forreal. Might even be my favorite tomorrow.
Bonus tracks:
13. Illest Motherfucker Alive – Ok now…when you call a song “Illest Motherfucker Alive” you really gotta live up to that shit son. This shit kinda almost lives up to the name of the song…but it aint that special yo. But Im not mad at it. Actually if Made in America n Lift Off made the album I dont kno why this shit is jus a bonus track namsayin. I think Breezy’s cousins are singin at the end a the song tho.
14 H.A.M. – This joint is still ass. Id rather listen to a whole Tyga mixtape son.
15. Primetime – This shit cool namsayin. Aint like my favorite song on earth or nothin….but No I.D. aint go n “Timbaland” these niggas wit no bullshit ass beat at least. Son always comes through wit sumthin decent or better. This shit better than decent tho nahmean.
16. The Joy (ft. Curtis Mayfield) – This shit shoulda been a official track on the album b. I dont care how old it is now…I still love this joint. I guess they aint wanna give they fans all this old shit…which is cool namsayin. But…AGAIN yo… if Lift Off gon be on the album anyway…you might as well jus swap that wit some old shit that AINT softer than Game’s emotions b. N they put Thats My Bitch on the album anyway so maybe there aint no real excuse for makin this shit a bonus joint. But why these niggas got “featuring Curtis Mayfield” on this shit? I think Jay n Ye better cut that shit out before it becomes a trend for these lame muthafuckas to start havin “featuring (insert dead artist here)” on they joints too b.
Word yo. The album might got some filler n a couple joints thats jus beyond wack…but its still a pretty tight project son. Niggas produced the shit outta this muthafucka b. This aint jus some shit where dudes looped up a beat n banged out some drums on top n called that shit a finished product namsayin. Nah yo…niggas put some work in to get this shit done par. Tone appreciates that type a artistry tho nahmean. But it aint like its all fancy tricks n aint no real magic happenin under all the bullshit smoke n mirrors n shit namsayin. Niggas straight went HAM on summa thses tracks son…but not on the HAM joint tho. Another thing I appreciate is that niggas tried sumthin original n new. Plus they aint flood this shit wit guest appearances from they artist rosters n turn it into the Firm album. Hate it or love it…its probably gon be like that rare joint where niggas memorize all the lyrics to it after a week either way. Anyways I give this shit a solid 4 Zeus slaps namsayin.
When I first heard Kanye and Jay were doing a project together, I was hoping that this would be more of a album with classic, infectious head nodding beats and flows and lyrics that make you grit and twist your face up. This definitely wasn’t it. Sometimes I feel like both these guys try too hard to make there shit appeal to the masses and get that “international” sound.
Big Ghostface has a blog thats almost 100% dedicated to Drake and he hates on almost every song that comes out. I have never seen another man hate on Drake to the level of Big Ghost. Its funny and shit but seriously how serious do you take someone who’s joking 95% of the time. This dude hates on Made in America , really? Even if you dont like the song dont just be completely ignorant like those kind of songs come out every week.
Get a sense of humor, marty. It’s not hating. It’s not bigotry. It’s comedy. And if you actually read BGF’s posts on this VERY SITE, you can tell its just for comedy.
^ thats your opinion and im not gonna knock it. still think Lift Off was a great joint no matter how hard niggaz knock it. and when i throw HAM in there right after who gon stop me, that shit really do go HAM.
p.s., is that how new york niggaz really talk? lol damn! yall niggaz sound more country than southern niggaz lol haha on me!
@ BGF
ummm..WHEN I HEAR A SO-CALLED RAP FAN(#DIRTYBACKPACKER) CLAIM THAT THE BEATS ON THIS ALBUM ARE WACK AND THE lyrics are mediocre..i stop listening..it just proves how far from reality the hiphop purists are..yall should read Ghostface review on this album..he loved this shit…and he was right..they produced the FUCK OUT OF THIS ALBUM..THIS AINT NO BOOM BAP..SIMPLE LOOP ASS SHIT..ITS DRUMS..AND BASSLINES..KICKS..SAMPLES..HOOKS..SEQUENCING..YALL SUM REAL SMART DUM NIGGAS..JUST CUZ THE SHIT IS POPULAR..U TAKE A STANCE..DIRTYBACKPACKERS R THE NEW HIPHOP REPUBLICANS..AGAINST EVERYTHING GOOD
niggas will reply to any and everybody. you take everybodys comments so seriously. Get a fuckin life, yo. Yall talk all that shit butt yall 2 stupid to realize youre just being fucked with. Plus, you dont make no fuckin money off ye or jay, so stop trying so hard. Y’all niggaz are the meaning of extra. Go get a job at XXL or straighten out complex, call Elliot Wilson to work for Respect. Form a street team. Instead of being 2DopeBoyz Comic Relief.
My major complaint with the album is the lack of innovation. Realistically and honestly the Wtt album was full of shit talking and what annoys me is that the minute you say that ppl tend to assume your hating. When I heard the album I didn’t think they was celebrating there success, I felt they was talking shit. Now does that motivate you? Well it depends on what type of motivation you allow to motivate you. With the exception of a few lines most of there shit talking is about what they have over you. If keeping up with the joneses is the type of motivation that gets you off your sit then that works for you but dont bash the opinions of ppl who felt the album was subpar because there expectations of two giants of hip hop was higher then some entry level shit talking. now jayz and kanye had a few tracks on there that had a message(direction) but the album for the most part scream shit talking.
Some of you are on some Smokey from Friday shit. On some “when he’s here I be quite but when he’s gone ill be talking again”. Since people say they brag so much can you name a song or a specific line that turns you off so much cause chance are you misunderstand the context and dont even hear the substance involved. Now I can agree theres bragging on it but what specifically is making you feel like they are shitting on people?
Marty, you need a friend.
^^^^^
He does. Aveeno, PlayGirl, and Jay-Z.
Sure kids but what you aint gonna do is judge the album for what it is. Your gonna act like WTT is for underground fans only like these two aint international artists that make music for everybody. Even though Otis was clearly for hardcore hip hop and fans and your gonna act like this album is the first time Jay talks about money or that their the only two artist that brag in their music. You can say whatever about me because you dont even keep it real with yourself.
WTT is a good album, but they DID scream thier sucess, and brgged on and on about it. They were showing off,not innovating. The social commentary mainly came from Kanye more than Jay. When you are arguably two of the best in the game right now, you are supposed to do something monumental. The only thing really innovative about this album is the way they kept it from getting leaked.
^You’re not gonna win. You know that. Right? Everything you say will be disregarded. And people will compare an underground concept album made by a fairly new and unseasoned lyricist that was released on an independent label, to a mainstream international album that was meant to cater to everyone, released by two of the biggest names in pop culture, on a major label. And we’ll get up every morning, to look up at the floor and step on the sky.
That was @marty mcfly.
The only thing dope about wtt is jay-z. Kaye ain’t been the same since his mom passed. He needs to stay behind the board!
thats a quadrupel entendre cuz of cuttin hoes
somebody needs to fine this mothafucka martymcfly for sittin’ on jay-z dick so much shit got damn I never seen a dude ride this hard for a artist. Fun fact is Marty is a nobody to Jay, he’s just a puppet who get’s him 5 bucks of an album, like he gives a shit. Marty see’s Jay as a God though, shit’s sad. Niggaz ride waaaay to hard for their artists. Watch The Throne was DECENT, let’s be honest, Section 80 was lyrically and musically way better than WTT, IDC whether it’s independent and underground or internationally. Watch The Throne had some weak ass shit and lyrically it was weak too. The hard beats pretty much saved it. I ain’t gonna listen to Marty Mcfly tho I mean this dude compared Nas to Fat Joe, real shit how can I honestly listen to his opinion lol.
I STILL don’t understand how Kanye is on any kind of “throne”. I haven’t heard a decent album from him in what seems like years.
ok shake… I’ll turn the radio off and stop checking your blog.Peace.
@thedon , you mad? I have spoke alot on about 25 different rappers on here but that fact is when people talk shit about Jay they gotta make some shit up instead of using the truth and its as simple as that. You wanna compare a nigga that just put out a album with someone who been putting out records since 96? GTFOH at least wait till he put out 5 albums before you say he’s better or even close lyrically to an legend. For you to even think that way about Kendrick , you must think he’s a god. Then you wanna talk about the Nas and Fat Joe shit , again what context did I mention them in? Now go back and do your research on both artists and see why I said that.
How come you aint mad I compared Mos Def with Nas?
“11. This shit is like audio lesbian comin out my speakers son.”

^Roffle! Cosign every last word of this!
^ you co-sign that? we know where your intellligence is.
I never really liked JayZ, at least not EVERYTHING he makes…RD, BP1, RocLaFamilia, and Black Album were classics. The rest I use a s weedplates. sue me. Kanye I like a lil more save for his bitchy complaining ways. This album is not that hot to me, i dont think the beats are that hot. the rhymes are meh. If you dont like it, well shit, youre the one who gotta live with the broken heart since it hurts you so much that someone is not as into your favorite rapper as you are. In this country I can exercise my freedom of speech on ANY post i want, whether my opinion is positive or negative.
And from reading all these comments, the only ppl that seem mad or are “haters” are the ones that cant take the fact that not everyone likes this record as much as them. Marty and his ilk should seek therapy or Jesus or pussy or All of the above. Seriously. Please dont assume you know what I listen to. I let you know rigght now…..Nas, Outkast, ATCQ, Common (speaking of which “If I dont like it I dont like it, that dont mean that Im hatin”) Scarface, Snoop, Kendrick, U-N-I, Fuc That, Sean Price, Black Milk, Kanye (solo), Jay Elec, Phil Ade, STS, T.Shirt, Eminem, Slaughterhouse, The iLLZ……………And please dont reply talkin bullshit askin stupid questions. Id rather see yo in person and smack the shit out of you if you wanna be disrespectful.
ONE.

@realest
You have now become the hater that you hate so much.
@marty you act like we say Kendrick is a G.O.A.T or has had a better career than Jay..no, as of right now, August 27, 2011, today Kendrick Lamar is a better rapper than Jay-Z and Section 80 is better than WTT..and theres nothing wrong with luxury raps and bragging and talking about how you are better than everybody because you have more material possessions, but doing that shit almost every single time you open your mouth?! Gtfoh…WTT’s production >>>> WTT’s lyrics
Well since your talking to me anyway, I have said more the ten times that theres nothing wrong with not liking WTT. I said musically if people dont like it thats cool but if you claim that it doesnt have substance? That is the shit ive been calling out and just because you listen to Jay Elec , or Nas or Common does not mean you understand what your listening too. Lastly you wouldnt want to see me in person and smack me because you would get destroyed. Being that I have professional fighting experience in mixed martial arts for more then ten years and im solid in the street, Good look. @fourth ear , I dont have too much of a problem comparing but when the gap between who your comparing is so far its kinda crazy. Comparing the two when they are no where even close to being on the same playing field isnt fair to either side. Your comparing the skills of a rookie with seasoned veterans , now I know you think thats ok but really its not. Im out but I now some of you still got alot to say but again its nothing wrong with not liking WTT but if you dont like the bragging songs just skip the the next song because theres more then enough substance on the album for you.

My bad…
whisper their achievements ??? this girl is clueless… EVERY RAPPER TALKs ABOUT WHAT THEY GOT..VERY FEW TALK ABOUT REAL SHYT.. so it makes more sense that ppl got a problem with them talking money… thats whats wrong with hiphop these days… girl fans..
ps the album was garbage
A mixed Martial Artist? So. Even they can get bitch smacked. Ya trolling tendencies prove youre a herb. .
LMAO @ “I’m solid in the street”, yeah okay.
@Pops believe whatever you want but the reality is computer fighting isnt a real fight so what difference does it make? but Just so you know though.
Exactly nigga, so why do you keep letting your fingers talk for you tough guy?!
Right now I could care less about WTT, it wasn’t for me, but I’m not knocking anybody who likes it. What makes me mad is everybody who’s comparing Section.80 to it. This is why it becomes hard for newer artists to grow and gain an expansive fan base. For example, so much people hate J.cole not because of J Cole, but because everybody is already calling the man a legend and his album classic, which hasn’t even been released yet. I understand as a fan, you want to see your favorite artists get their recognition, but many times it only makes things worse. It’s not really fair to Kendrick Lamar for people to be calling Section.80 a classic when it was just released two months ago, to be compared to people who have rapped for over a decade, just let the artists make their music and enjoy the shit, damn.
@marty when Lebron was a rookie he was already better than the majority of the league..Scottie Pippen was still in the league at the time, he was a veteran, but the rookie was better..doesnt mean Lebron shouldve already been inducted in the hall of fame, but he was better than thr vet at the time..same with Kendrick being better than Jay-Z…and I know substance when I hear it, the few songs that have substance on WTT are good or “aite” imo, its almost hard to take them seriously when they start trying to get deep and conceptual lol and ever since I saw you posted a comment a while back saying that every Jay album up to Black Album is on the same level as Illmatic, Ive been questioning your knowledge of hip hop, stopped taking your opinion seriously, and have been convinced that you are a groupie
@Fourth ear I said the classic albums from Jay were at the same level of his own album Reasonable doubt so quote me correctly. RD , In My Lifetime , BP1 , the Black Album and American Gangster all meet on the same level in creativity and lyrical approach. Then I said for personal reasons I consider illmatic better then Reasonable doubt. So dont just say anything , put down exactly what I said. Now let me give you another example of why I wouldnt compare Kendrick to WTT. If Kendrick doesnt go gold in sales nobody would care because people dont hold him to that standard of success and if Kendrick made Lift Off you would ya’ll hate him after but if he made Otis you would say he’s dope. When the Throne makes Lift Off , they already have a fan base of people that enjoy that sound and will buy it so the song serves a purpose. Jay has to sell records cause if he doesnt go gold or platinum you’ll all talk shit and as for Otis , since it came from Jay and Kanye you gonna say it sucks even though you claim to want real hip hop. Kendrick is just trying to buzz , Jay and Kanye are competing against there own reputation. So saying Kendrick is better isnt fair because Jay has already proven his skill level on all sides. Fast and slow flow and underground and commercial records and bragging songs and sad songs. Kendrick has not done all that and he cant go from Lift Off to Otis on the same album within ten minutes of each other because he hasnt learned that yet. I dont even compare Jay Electronica to Jay or Kanye for the same reasons because they both have way too many classic and hit records to their name. Until Kendrick makes shit like 44 fours , lyrical exercise , You Must Love Me , A week Ago , Regrets , Dope man , Anything , Heart of the city , December 4th , Justify my thug , the Prelude , Minority Report , Beach Chair , Pray , I know , Fallin , DOA , So ambitious , New Day and Welcome to the jungle. I cant compare the two because his mixtapes just cant come close to whats on those songs lyrically. Have a nice day
@ whoever, when kendrick spits some triple entendres, let me know.
@ pops, when a nigga writes essays saying how made in america sounds like drakes lesbian lotion or w.e. and a nigga co-signs that, thats not an opinion, thats hate.
if you dont like a song then thats your opinion(sometimes) but when niggaz go way out their way to discredit a great song using comical nonsense, thats hating.
that nigga jay said “her apple pie was supplied by arm & hammer.” and “i got my liberty boiling those grams up, street justice i hope God understands us.” now maybe you cant relate to lines like that, and if u cant thats find, but alot niggaz can and that shit was too real. jay touches on the the thoughts and emotions that niggaz in the hood deal with and weighs on the their concious TOUGH. so before you start to write your hatefilled comments full of ignorance(by the definition of ignorance) listen and think about what the nigga is saying, dont just skim thru and call it wack bcuz you dont know and or understand what the nigga is talking about. if you find section 80 to have substance then there is no question why you shouldnt find the substance in WTT, unless your simply a hater. no other way around it.
and stop hiding behind, “its just my opinion” bullshit. i can say all white ppl smell like wet dog ass crack or all nerds little dick sucking faggots and say thats just my opinion, doesnt make it valid, its simply hate. be REAL WITH YOURSELF, your rationalizing and trying to validate your hate by saying its your “freedom of speech” or “opinion”.
and i dont throw the word hater around too much either, it is what it is. instead of throwing insults i’d rather just call a spade a spade and keep it real.
If Kendrick doesnt go gold in sales nobody would care because people dont hold him to that standard of success
^ a fact that most rap fans ignore(due to ignorance). and i dont even think personally Lift Off was thrown on there just to please certain ppl, it sounds like pure kanye track. sounds so “touch the sky” and “heard em say”-ish. and i can bet my left foot that if that shit was on Late Registration niggaz would be prasing that shit. but THATS just my opinion.
just to further add to martys point, if WTT DIDNT go gold, niggaz/haters would be SO QUICK to say how jay and ye fell off and not relevant no more and need to retire and yadda yadda yadda.
Now before people do a whole bunch of talking about me and the comments that take me less then three minutes to write. Just take it for what it is , if you like WTT then what I gotta say probably makes you like it more if not thats cool because I dont even like every single song on WTT but dont just say anything about it or just say some shit about me like that changes the topic at hand. Ill leave it at that about WTT cause regardless it was a successful album in a matter of weeks in a time where leaks before and after albums ruin whole projects.
Hahah, this dude marty mcfly some kind of Jedi master now? This dude been watchin’ too much Dragon Ball.
Hell naw, this sound like the kind of dude that gets no hoes, and is at Comic Con EVERY year, in a damn Yoda costume!! xDD
here comes the 18 year old kid talking about getting hoes when keep it real Pauly you aint even got my lady money.
^you have lady money?
“when a nigga writes essays saying how made in america sounds like drakes lesbian lotion or w.e. and a nigga co-signs that, thats not an opinion, thats hate.

NO nigga thats called an opinion. A funny one at that, but nevertheless its an opinion.
After rading all these comments, Marty and the realest are either the same person or theyre roomataes or lovers…either way they have waaaay too much time on their hands to go over-ANALytical for this turd of an album.
^ shame on this nigga waiting 4days speak his gay-halfass comment. shame on you!
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Unlike your bitch ass I dont have time to argue on websites all day about some faggot ass rapper. I’ve been working. You ever heard of that?? A job? Where you get paid to take care of certain responsibilities. Shame on YOU, you actually keep checkin the posts. You got no life lady.
And b4 u reply (Which Im sure u will) Worry about how insecure you are in your life that you have to get on a rapblog and keep trying to get the last word. All ppl need to do is see the time and date of ALL your comments to see how pathetic you are.
I was strollin down reeadin some of these comments and a lotta yall is doin three much…all these emotions on this blog got me all teary-eyed…LMAO niggas on here is too comedy…far as watch the throne, Niggas In Paris goes dumb hard…and aint no such thing as “luxury rap” nigga it’s called hip hop and we aint gon start to categorize the shit just cuz you don’t like every song I do and vice versa. Hip hop has evolved, there are more elements than there were in earlier years (whether you like it or not). If you aint noticed there’s enough artists puttin shit out nowadays, so chances are you prolly found some music (genre non-important) you like so enjoy whatever it is you fuck wit n leave the rest for the birds.
