In this clip Game tells Power 106′s Big Boi the origin of his dislike for Jay-Z, was when they first met and Game asked Jay how he managed to stay relevant to which Hov said “Most of you new rappers won’t last, find a new lane.”
Did he really tell Game that, or did he rap that somewhere (I swear it sounded liked a line in a song I may have heard before) and Game took it to heart? Serious question. And is that really insulting if he really answered that question in that manner? I mean, Game did ask him a question and he got a sugar-free, brutally honest reply in return; there’s no real reason to be upset at that (to me at least). But what do I know.

All these different responses are just further evidence of the fact that the statement is open to interpretation…but what did Jay really say that was wrong, honestly? He could’ve not responded at all. On top of the importance of being able to find a new lane in the game, i.e. doing what you do like no one else, growing your brand/expanding…you also have to find lanes outside of music. Those music checks may not always come or come in consistently…most “relevant” artists have expanded well beyond music, including many touted as the game’s best; Ludacris, 50, Lupe…even Jay!
“Kingdom Come” wasn’t a great album, but Jay tried to establish himself in a new way and he still is. Tapping into things he hasn’t before, aiming for new heights…and whenever he does stop rapping, he’ll have plenty of others lanes to keep him busy.

If you were Game, a newly signed artist in this situation, and one of your admirers told you to stop being who you are that got you signed in the first place, and do something else, then you’d not like Jay-Z like that either.
