Last night, before his performance at the Bowery Ballroom in NYC, J. Cole reveals to VIBE that he’s still waiting on that Jay-Z verse (damn). He also states that he will not be apart of the WTT Tour as he’s going out on his own in August (I’m got my own tour starting at the end of August in Canada, then the States in Sept—UK in October, November, December) and that he already shot the video for his single with Trey Songz in Barbados. The interview ends with Cole giving more details on his Any Given Sunday series.
It’s pretty random. I got a couple I know I’ma do alread. I wake up like ‘what do I want to put out today.’ So it’s not always going to be five songs, three songs. Like this week coming up might just be a song. The week after that it might just be a video.

If I was Cole I’d put out that Temptation joint with K.Dot because that song is a certified banger and would cater to every fan of hip-hop music. I’d even put it on the album.

It should tell all you Cole stans something when Jay (the guy who signed him) won’t even take the time to bang out a 16 for him to put on his debut album. You know what that tells me? It tells me that Jay has no confidence in Cole’s music or his album. I think Jay wants no part of being a part of it. That Rocnation A&R came out a couple of months ago saying Jay was real close to dropping Cole and I personally believe after he releases the album Jay is going to drop him. Jay acts like he wants no ties to Cole, he tries to distance himself from him almost as if he knows Cole is going to flop. Cole seems like he doesn’t really like Jay, his recent interviews seem like he doesn’t even want to address Jay. I think by the end of the year they will go seperate ways.

I don’t think Jay knows how to build an artist. And I’m a Jay fan. I just haven’t seen him groom a successful artists. He keeps taking these exec jobs and signing people but they’re always the artist in the back, with the exception of Rihanna, and Miguel(he’s on Roc Nation I think). No, Jay did not build Ye. Ye built himself as far as his appeal, and with his raps, his Chi-town heroes helped. I mean, Jay signed Willow Smith. Why would you sign Willow Smith? What could you possibly do with that?

The crazy thing is that since that verse on A Star Is Born Jay hasn’t done anything to push J. Cole. Hell he’s stood behind Drake moreso the Cole. I mean him basically having to hassle him for verse for his debut album is testament to that.
