The JumpOffTV crew debate Frank Ocean’s inclusion on Jay-Z and Kanye West’s Watch the Throne and how it might affect his career both positively and negatively. Yes, Frank Ocean is on 2dbz… get over it. I’ve been a fan (which I’ve clearly stated on Twitter numerous times), but his affiliation with them has kept us from supporting his music. I think frank ocean is talented dude. One of my fav albums is his and i liked the songs he had on WTT. In fact i think the dude is as talented as new R&B singers get. Better than Chris Breezy, at least.

Def Jam had shelved him essentially. Lonny Breaux collection let’s you know he’s put in plenty of work. Chase N Cashe talked about knowing him from back in N.O. and the work he’d done. He’s been around. He got up with OF in LA and started defining a new sound for himself dropped Nostalgia (his So Far Gone) so to speak and now is reaping the benefits. Get it how you live there is no more defined route to stardom. Talent should find it’s way to the top even if some garbage makes it up there too.

Seriously though, OF are a bunch of kids and they are now just coming up. They like to get people’s attention and “F 2DBZ” is just one of the ways they did it. I know Oddfuture and come off a little harsh in their lyrics but they needed a platform to draw attention and this was it. Frank oceans mixtape Nostalgia was very limited song wise and musically. The stand out track was obviously NOvacane but I will say his fame will grow at an insidious pace because musically he just doesn’t stand head over heels above anyone else. Chris brown , Trey songs can provide what Frank brings to the table. If nostalgia would have been a solid introduction then he would have shown more promise.
