Amy Winehouse Coves VIBE

Amy Winehouse shares the cover of VIBE‘s Aug/Sept issue alongside Kelly Rowland; and long time friend/producer Salaam Remi shares his final days with the lost songstress. Check an excerpt below then be sure to pick up the issue on August 16th.

I’m in London now. I’m out here because [Amy and I] were supposed to go to a wedding today. And before I could get to her yesterday she passed. We were going to the wedding of Nick Symansky, who is the person who really found her. He found her when he was a scout at 19. And he was the manager before they got the Universal deal.

They went ahead with the wedding. All I could do was sit there and imagine how many jokes she would have been cracking with me. We were in the middle of working on the album. She finished writing the record. We just hadn’t recorded.

For the last couple of weeks we were video chatting regularly. I was just talking to Nas. Both her and Nas were born on September 14, so we were going to Barbados with all of them for her birthday. She really doesn’t look forward to her birthday, you know what I’m saying?

  2. Funny how like a week ago nobody was even thinking about Amy Winehouse and now that she died she’s getting so much attention….don’t make no fuckin sense I fuckin hate when people and the media do that shit

  3. dont. fucking. care.

  4. should i care?

  5. Bitch died… I’M ROLLIN’!!!1
    #hilarious

  6. ^^^^Fucking troll. Go claw out your corneas.

RIP Amy. And yeah, a lot of people that didn’t give a shit about her are crying. Smh.

  7. @Pauly Dee: I still say you won’t act so respectful when Justin Beiber kicks the bucket… I’d even be willing to bet money on it.

  8. ^^^^^^
Actually, I would be respectful. Even though I joke about his music sucking and whatnot, I’d have to respect the dead. It’s called maturity.

  9. @Pauly: We’ll see… won’t we? :D

  10. Honestly, I never was a colossal fan of hers before her death. Supposedly her albums were amazing. I understand people should mourn death…

BUT what annoys me about this whole situation is that:

    1. People are treating it like a tragedy and such a shock, BUT, when you are a coke addict AND alcoholic, SURPRISE! You have a chance of dying from it. No mystery to why she died. It wasn’t like she was murdered or died in her sleep. She was a DRUG ADDICT.

    2. People are looking so much at her death but almost 70 teenagers were gunned down in Norway at Future Politicians Camp by one man in cold blood. They were on an ISLAND with NO escape and he got on the island dressed as a cop.

Yet, we cry and fill up timelines with RIP Amy Winehouse. Yes, RIP Amy but what about those kids? I think they deserve as much.

  11. why would i buy this shitty magazine just because some bitch is dead by her own fault……………….if she was clean and got hit by a car then sad shit but no she was a crackhead

Yet, we cry and fill up timelines with RIP Amy Winehouse. Yes, RIP Amy but what about those kids? I think they deserve as much.

you don’t have to say rip amy just so these assholes don’t e-attack you

  12. @kidadonis the thing is, she didnt die of drugs or alcohol so stfu and stop making assumptions because of her “past”

  13. @Th3rd,
They said that they are unsure of how/why she passed away. Her family released a statement that they believe she died because of Withdrawal from giving up Alcohol. But the toxicology report won’t be back for a month.

Also, from my understanding of alcohol addiction, it is possible for her reaction to be like such but it is a relatively slim chance. And whatever happens a month from now, her family is going to release whatever looks most favorable upon their child’s legacy.

Either way, she had complications due to her addictions and refusal to go to “Rehab”. But, you STILL missed the point. Spending so much time talking about a drug addict that passed away because of her refusal to get help. Even if she did die because of withdrawal, if she would have been in rehab, this probably wouldn’t of happened. My Purpose was that people like you get so caught up on a celebrity’s death that you don’t care about a REAL tragedy going on.

  14. who cares she was untalented and ugly….the only reason i wish she was still alive is that because of her death i have to be reminded that she even existed

  15. @kidadonis they may believe that but experts say the chances of her dying because of withdrawal are slim so lets not jump to conclusions until we have facts and a tragedy is a tragedy there’s no such thing as a real tragedy or a fake tragedy, I can care less if Amy was a celebrity or not, she was 1 of my favorite singers so I naturally care more about her death..so what

  16. Funny how this site made not one mention of her death but an Article from some you consider Hip-Hop you post about it SMH.

  17. I didn’t really check for her until she died. Same with Mac Dre. I hate that it took that for me to recognize them. Amy was talented, same with Dre.

  18. Oh yea…

  19. So, you value one person’s death that you don’t know personally over almost a hundred others. It’s not a tragedy. A tragedy is something that is considered a catastrophe. 70 kids being gunned down is, NOT Amy Winehouse’s passing.

My point is about everyone’s focus being wrong. Be sad but we should be worried about more important things. A woman got away with killing her two year old daughter and now is getting offered $500,000 to pose nude for Hustler. A killing spree 6 times larger than Columbine, which they called a massacre, happens to children trying to better themselves. Amy Winehouse passing… not on the same levels at all.

I didn’t jump to conclusions, I said that the FAMILY said the thing about withdrawal. So what’s jumping to conclusions?

Naturally you would care more about her dying in comparison to so many others? That’s foolish. When people are killed because someone feels they should on some false ideology, it jeopardizes our rights and freedom worldwide. That’s a Tragedy. Not Amy Winehouse passing. Not Anna Nicole Smith and even my personal favorite, Michael Jackson passing is not more important than innocent life being snuffed out.

  20. Im going to ignore the majority of that ramble and say i dont know Amy personally or any of the almost 100 people that died personally , but the fact that she’s 1 of my favorite singers and Ive felt some type of connection with her through her music and lyrics is why I care more…I may of not met her but when youre a fan, you care about that artist and want to see them succeed and youre saddened/hurt/upset when they retire or die, just like how you woud feel about a friend.. theres nothing foolish about that..nobody knows how she died so the fact you even brought up drugs or alcohol or how her parents thinks she died wasnt necessary and it was irrelevant…I can care less about her being a celebrity, she could be a local/unknown singer and I would still care more about her death because Im a fan

  21. And smh @ you saying how I feel is foolish as if theres intelligence or common sense involved in this, if I value 1 of my favorite artists of 5 years death more than 100 others (that ive only heard of for 5 days and dont even know the names of) deaths then so be it…get over it..attack the people heavily influenced by the media, not the Amy Winehouse fans smh
