Sample is insane.
Aw shit.
buhh……..full of shit,this isnt a decent song…

http://www.mediafire.com/?n744pj4htq5xyci
Untagged, download.
I’ll have the CDQ at http://dropthatjoint.wordpress.com/2011/07/20/kanye-west-jay-z-otis/
sample is good but jay z and kanye both suck dick
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh shit. love that minimalist shit!
Damn give us some more never let you down, diamonds etc
Sounds like that beat that Slug & Eyedea rapped on back in the day. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=40MA0pl7Oa0 that said, this song’s nice. Goin HAM on this, looking forward to more.
Completely agree with “Chris_Zurcher”
Dope Fuck Eminem And royce swag less niggas
watch the throne? more like watch that toilet…this is shit.
sample is dope but honestly the lyrics here are sooo bad.
this is trash… the sample is the only good thing.
CDQ IS RIGHT HERE http://dropthatjoint.wordpress.com/2011/07/20/kanye-west-jay-z-otis/
Honestly im not really feeling this not sure if this is how the rest of the album will be but come on we have all heard this before Jay talking about his millions of dollars and Ye braggin about how much he shops and spends his money smh…. flow is straight but come on PLEEEASSSSEEEE give us something different I think they both have a great deal of talent but this just wasn’t hitting im just being honest.
this is decent. but j coles album i anticipating
good song though cole World 9/27
Beat is kind of dope. Verses are good too, but I still expected more. Not a really good single though…
4.2/5
7.3/10
this is what happens when money is too much.
u got nothing to rap about.
this track is saved by a good sample. that is all.
kanye blacked out
Only a couple bars i liked but overall i dont think they delivered on the lyrics. I like the back and forth style but the lines themselves sounded corny. Anyone else agree? The sample was hot though but thats a given when you are talking about Kanye.
This probably isn’t a single. Just a leak. Will probably sound a lot better in the context of the album
Ye got Jay on this though. And that, in my eyes, is a DAYUMM shame.
its meh… the fact that this is the first song they release scares me better not be close to the best on the album
Am I the only one that thinks they bodied this?
The most refreshing Kanye track I’ve heard in awhile.
Never has a track made me laugh and smile so casually.
just talkin bout money n shit. really aint all that
that champagne line by ye is recycled and wack.
these dudes ain’t hungry anymore.
and u can hear it in the music.
the flows were off, and topic was ad rap.
if i want to hear about cars, money, and clothes… i got maybach and yung money for that.
The sample is dope but it needs to be turned down. The vocals make it hard to understand what Jay and Kanye are saying. Nothing too special here.
On third listen, the sample is still dope, but the lyrics still could have been better…
*inb4martymcfly*
You know whats funny, same ppl hatin on this probably loved Ghetto Dreams
its meh. sample was cool but it overpowers the vocals. not that impressed, especially for all the buzz i’ve been hearin about this album. to b honest this kinda sounds like a throwaway you’d hear off a jay or kanye album…not the fourth song and first leak, i was expecting a real banger
@daman…that’s actually a really good observation. i love both tracks. haha…what did people expect kanye and jay-z to rap about? politics? philosophy? i don’t understand.
is this ass… or is it just me?
sample is ill. but this song makes me wish they would have just released to separate solo albums instead
You guys really think the lyrics are wack tho?!?!? why cuz it isnt lyrical miracle spiritual hypothetical rappity rippity rap rap? Yall are CORNY!!! this is GROWNN folk music lol smh keep up this is so hip hop
^ Grown folk music!?
…hmm…
*listens once more*
@FLAK
how many grown folks do u know personally with a benz?
stop ya lyin right there. nuff said. the topic of finances is irrelevant when most people are in debt.
@daman Alot of people including me were disappointed withe lyrical content of Ghetto Dreams
Maybe one day Kanye will be able to do something interesting with a sample. Thankfully it’s Otis Fucking Redding.
i understand everyone has an opinion and shit but damnn how can you say anything bad or negative about this
are we sure…. that madlib had nothing to do with this??? I seriously think he was a ghost producer on this.. or at least passed along the sample.
Not impressed, but the sample is dope. Just don’t like the overall layout of it.
This shit is wack. How the Hell are you going fuck a otis redding song up. Fuck this bullshit.
This is fucking crazy DOPE !!! Ya’ll just hating.
are we sure…. that madlib had nothing to do with this??? I seriously think he was a ghost producer on this.. or at least passed along the sample
just give the instrumental.
i can do without the lyrics.
sorry, but these dudes need better writers.
I thought it was pretty dope. Now it’s not gonna change the whole industry but it’s a dope joint and Jay and Ye did their thing.
On another note, the student has surpassed the teacher. My opinion. Ye just sound hungrier.
Wasn’t too bad of a song. The sample/beat was dope. Ye>Jay on this one though.
Driving Benz’s with no benefits
Not bad huh, for some immigrants?
Build your fences, we digging tunnels
Can’t you see we gettin money up under you?- How is that not dope?
ghetto dreams to me was dope cos of nas flow and the way he linked words together like it was literally 94..and commons verse was dope
this was cool didnt think it wud get this much hate..im still expexting alot of great songs cos i heard the joy already and that was amazing..so imma wait on the album..any more leaks…immma ignore.
one song and some of you guys already judging the album and i doubt Jay-Z and Kanye leaked this them self so people need to chill till they hear the whole album in it’s entirety.
So you have to be rich or do a lot of cocaine to enjoy their music… SMH
They could have done better. Beat was boring as fuck.
Rap Genius is decoding the lyrics – deep..
http://rapgenius.com/Kanye-west-otis-lyrics
ITS FUCKING MUSIC ..YALL NIGGAZ IS FUCKIN LOST IN YALL ONW MINDS. YALL HATE YALL REFLECTON…
You people dont even know what i mean by grown folk music….im saying this is some real hip hop shit right now from the sample, beat to the lyrics that grown people can listen to i can probably put this on for my uncle who was a rakim fan and he’d be loving this…what biggie or kane didntt talk about flashy shit?!?!?! you guys are hypocritical just because its jay and kanye 2 of the biggest rappers in the world….if it was reef the lost cauze and ras kass yall would be sucking them off lol you guys really break shit down WAYY too much
Im Just Sayin, Common Nor Nas Spit Somethin Sick In That Track. When they talk about bitches they get praised but when Jay And Kanye Talk about how their actual life is, ppl hate? Cmon now… Btw, I thought the lyrics were dope especially Jay’s
guess im in the minority on this one, i fux with it. sample is crazy, and their flows are tight. no this isnt either one of their most lyrical verses but its still enjoyable and far from wack.
I guess I’m spoiled by many years of substance.
@FLAK You seriously want the old school biggie and kane music to come BACK! You don’t break shit down enough. GTFOH. Money money money, bitches, bitches – YAWN! We off that. We want SUBSTANCE.
All you grown ass rappers trying to advance its all over now take it like a man.
I mean lets be honest, the beat is far too simple. But I guess Ye’ can do that these days, just loop a classic soul track and people call it genius.
If this is what the kings are putting out, the throne definitely needs to be watched b/c somebody is going to pull it out from under them.
@FLAK
this is that hypocritical bull right there.
first u old heads think that we too naive or dumb.
then, it’s we are overly critical.
we are neither.
we respect lyricism, but we also seek content a.k.a. substance… not raps about substance (i,e, drugs).
cocaine metaphors and alcoholic dreams are unrealistic to todays youth. we stuck in the hood, or if we go to school, we got tons of debt… not to mention old heads keep sayin we outta touch.
man, this is some ole bull. double standard.
jay and ye did not bring it hard enough.
this is not eric b and rakim… this is more like wayne and drake on syrup.
im just sayin. the sample is fiyah. the raps are shallow at best.
and otis redding sample deserves better. that brother was deep soul. close to or even better than sam cooke. cmon man.
do yall listen to music or do yall just like things based on who is on it and who produced it?
Alright. I change my mind. After listening to it like 5 times straight, this shit is crazy. Lol.
Yall Cant Expect Them To Rap About Somethin That Possibly Relates to the way you, yourself are living every time. Because let’s be honest, those niggas got money out the ass. “I invented swag, poppin bottles, puttin models in the cab” he wasnt lyin
I agree these sound like some lyrics that they said back in 07 or something same ol same ol, to others who spoke of “hating” just because you have an opinion doesn’t mean you are hating i just don’t think they delivered and there is better music than this out right now, anyone can see that
@moovin and @D all im sayin is kane talked about bitches and people call him one of the greatest..same with biggie, same with pac, same with a lot of other westcoast dudes talkin about bitches suckin their nuts like kurupt…just people get mad when mainstream artists make great music NOWADAYS smh just appreciate good music i can appreciate this AND the new Median that dropped today..im 20 faggots lmao
Im intrigued! Not single material tho :S but i fucks with it!
@daman that is true and I agree with what your saying these dudes do have plenty of $ but Jay has had money for years and I have heard him go way harder than this, it’s always something else to talk about rather than money all day!! Is what it is though
@daman
sinatra and sammy davis invented swag. shoot, miles davis and jack johnson were putting white models in cabs. and that’s the early 1900s.
now that’s swag. jack johnson boinkin white girls when a nigga could get lynched EASY………..
u want to keep believein the lies in these guys raps?
HOV = G.O.A.T
HOV, KANYE >> eminem
WTT >> bad meets evil
“Luxury rap, the Hermes of verses
Sophisticated ignorance
Write my curses in cursive”
no song can be everything to everybody, if the pre-release reviews are reliable there’s stuff with “substance” on the album. This is dope and I wanna hear more.
Are you serious? Dont take shit too literal, You love substance, and I do as well. d. talkin about money is what Lil Wayne does, Jay-z Talks About Success, Btw, You Tellin Me
These guys are victims of their own success, you cant blame them. We expect the best because we know what they’re capable of, and when we dont hear what we were anticipating we start to HATE.
Well it’s only one track and it is what is. Two rich guys reminding the world (again) of that fact. If you enjoy that because A. You are rich yourself B. You are currently doing a lot of drink/drugs and happen to feel the same way as they do, then good luck to you. I’ll keep it moving. Just don’t try and tell me that this is a dope track.
Ownin your own label, fuckin Beyonce, Being top 5 on forbes, going to paris whenever the fuck you feel like it, performin with U2, isnt swag?
word J i agree…im an underground hip hop head but i can def appreciate this idk why these people get their panties in a bunch off of one leak that is NOT even wack
This is a gold album called “Watch the Throne.”
I’m sure a majority of their songs will be bragging to some degree.
Dumb critics on here, man.
You people crying about substance and saying they wrong for expressing how they feel. Look for the substance in their bars cause its their you just have to listen for it. Look at what these two artists represent and how far they are telling you , you can go if you just apply yourself. Lil Wayne is just as famous as they are but what does he say in his raps most of the time? Now what is Jay and Kanye proving about what a artist can do at the top of their game? Alot of major artists would never get on this beat , Jay and Kanye keeping the true essence of hip hop alive. They didnt give you no pretty commercial shit , they just went in and kept this shit gritty. This shit sounds like something ghostface would rap on or something Madlib would produce ( werent you just crying about them not using this kind of sound yesturday ) Cmonson !!! They didnt give you a song for girls in the club which would have blew up way passed this song. They put on the ugly face and went hard so Watch the throne.
i like it but again, they did say they been scraping and redoin tracks, so how do we know this is the actual version….did i just blow your mind
@FLAK @daman
i’ve heard it all before
jay z- girls, girls, girls
kanye- the good life
c’mon man, this can’t be all to life? right?
“IM JUST FEELING LIKE THE THRONE IS FOR THE TAKING, WATCH ME TAKE IT” – DRAKE
Drake is going to take the throne with “Take Care”. These guys don’t got anything left. DRAKExTHEWEEKND. OVOXO. TORONTO.
@moovin But my point is a lot of the greats, even more underground dudes now like rae, ghost, AZ or even roc marciano talk about bitches and money at times..how come its not okay for jay and kanye to do it if their in a position to do so? this is some triumphant mainstream shit you dont hear this stuff on the radio anymore..and its only ONE leak HAM is only a bonus track..this one leak is dope to me and better than what i expected cuz i hated HAM
sample, check. beat, check. flow, check. lyrics, check. subject matter, check. There is nothing else to say.
“niggas talkin real reckless, stuntman”
most fire bar ive heard since
“its going down in this bitch, concrete”
Plus they have some political shit on this album from what ive read
@FLAK
touche, my nigga
touche, my nigga
u make a valid point.
still don’t like the overall track. but u right about rae and az and the likes.
i give u this round. good dialogue.
And why should someone either have to a. be rich or b. do drugs/drink to feel like someone who is rich in order to enjoy a song about being rich -.- it’s a great sample, they have chemistry which everyone already knew about, they do these soul tracks better than anyone in rap (the whole song is a comparison to how Otis killed it in soul music, a reminder of how they do it), the flows are nice and there’s some dope lines in there
“flee in the g450 i might surface/ political refugee asylum can be purchased”….oooooooooowwwwwwwwee. That shit is so over the lil swag niggas heads…shits deeper than rap.
Everybody is bodied with that one line. point blank period.
IM JUST FEELING LIKE THE THRONE IS FOR THE TAKING, WATCH ME TAKE IT
Love it!
WAY BETTER THAN H.A.M, Now this is what I’m talking bout.
THIS IS CLASSIC SHIT
Stop hating for senseless reasons and appreciate.
http://www.datpiff.com/Corey-Round-1-mixtape.252670.html
Check out my beat tape. Lookin for input and artists to work with
#FLATLINE at everybody saying student passed the teacher. Jay is in his early 40′s, and 17 years into the game. No shit ‘Ye is gonna sound hungrier and more fresh. The verses ain’t no lyrical accomplishments, but then again, what the fuck kind of ‘Ye and Hov’ were you expecting? This is grown folk music, wine ‘em and dine ‘em.
I personally think this is a dope track and for a post that has so many likes it sure is a lot of negative talk going on in this c-section… All I’m saying is if you don’t like this and you don’t like H.A.M and you feel Jay and Ye aren’t “bringing” it then just don’t listen to anything that has to do with the fucking album because it seems like most people have their minds made up that this is gonna be a whack album so go listen to whatever underground artist you want until he blows up and then you can bitch about his lack of substance too…
Sounds so soulful don’t you agree
I invented swag
Poppin bottles putting supermodels in the cab
Proof
I guess I got my swagger back
Truth: new watch alert, Hublot’s
Or the big face Rollie I got two of those
Arm out the window through the city I maneuver slow
Cock back, snap back
See my cut through the holes
Giving yourself a vocal citation mid-verse is as swag as it gets
I have to retrack my last post for a bit, The Star potential is here (just the names alone brings attention). But when you have been creating of some hip hop’s most influential raps I.e. Roses, Touch The Sky, Everything I am, Through The Wire, Hard Knock Life, A Star Is Born, THE ENTIRE REASONABLE DOUBT & BLACK ALBUM, I would have expected the content to be a bit more. I’m still vibing to this record but I hope the topics on the album will be something grown folks can get with.
im sorry….i think this album is going to suck…jay and yay are great in there own right. but anything they get on together it trash (with the exception of diamonds remix) there styles dont mesh at all. jay just raps on whatever he’s on…yay takes more of a science approach to tracks since hes a producer at heart so they always seem to step over each other when there on the same beat specially when they try to follow each others flows. hopefully the album with have track where one person is headlining while the other follows up
The world makes sense again
Well, this album just got kicked out of the race for “classic”. but this is slowly growing on me though.
keep on sampling keep on sampling, track is dope …. the ones thats hating on this track go KILL UR SELF b/c this song will be on your ipod with the whole album. Also the Carter 4 will be too. face it.
This is what I expected from the album. First off jay always been on the money shit since reasonable doubt. Dude just has a clever way of portrayin it. Ye been alway had the arrogant with lines that make nigga laugh flow. These niggaz ain’t changin they style. Why should they? Ghost and rae ain’t chage. Mop ain’t change. Rocmarciano ain’t change. Sean p ain’t change and all the forementioned are dope mcs.I think the song was above average but not spectacular. That sample was dope as hell and if any of you make music, you know ye chopped the fuck out that sample.
@tabasko Never let me down, Monster, The Joy, Run This Town, Power Remix, and So Appalled.
Only thing i cant fucking stand about the song, Cause i think its dope as fuck. Is the damn screaming at the end god Damn.. Cut that right out on itunes haha
DAAAAAAAMN. Love this!
Man screw my old comment. Im feeling this song even if they could do better with the lyrics. These soul beats…are nice.
This is way way average
“I made Jesus walks I aint going to hell”
If thats yeezys logic hes in for a rude awakening
This is why I don’t like 2dopeboyz.. The sight is quick with the music but these hipster blog fags think they know everything.. Listen to it a few times and you will see the depth of these bars.. Yes some is braggadocios, but Kanye and Jay have always been that way.. But what is unique about them is they use these metaphors to bring forth a message.. People just dont hear it because they don’t use a bunch of simple ass similes every line using like or as like wayne for ever damn rhyme.. Keep up people…
The beat is fye…but the lyrics…smfh…nah. Sounds like a rough draft. Maybe Kanye coulda did something better with Cudi on this beat. Jay is just…ugghhh!! I”m been over u already dude…please just bow out and DOOOOO NOOOOOOTTTTT RE-BOW back in again…thanks and thanks
@jtherapy you got it.
To Kanye and Jay, go with tracks like this, and flush that HAM shit.
@dap-a-wapa
i could here cudi spittin on this shit,he’d kill this shit, fuck
This is going to be as good as the Jay Z R Kelly albums.
Which weren’t good.
say what you want. kanye fuckin snapped.
@Pauly Dee: check ya math homie, 4.2/5 does NOT equal 7.3/10 lol. its one or the other cus 4.2 in a 10 pt scale would be 8.4…hahahahaha dumbass people these days. and this is the same shit ye n hov been talking bout, BUT IT’S 98.9% better than the shit that’s been coming out!!!
xyz123: What message. The only message I ever got from a Jay Z song is to sell drugs, treat my women like shit and destroy my community. Besides that what message has Jay Z ever delivered.
That’s why he barely makes my top 20.
He’s the fronting till you make it guys favorite rapper.
It’s always I’m the coolest dude in the world.
It took him till his 6th album to put out a song where he actually had a thought that did not involve himself.
Kanye is the underdog nerd who was called gay all his life and only has a superficial view of the world where your status is the only thing important in life. I fell sorry for him. That;s a fucked up way to live.
The fact that people are even fans of these two says more about you than anything else.
You can tell a lot about a person by their favorite rapper.
Jay Z/Biggie fans are the fronting till you make it squad.
The Kanye fans are metro-sexual’s who talk with a lisp.
Just like their hero.
for every 8 that loves this track…1 dont like it…Cumudgeons!!!..lmao!!
dont forget kanye was on the bounce as well
I LOVE KANYE and I’m okay with Jay, but this doesn’t sound as hyped as I thought it’d be.
This song didn’t even compare to ONE song from XV’s Zero Heroes in terms of quality. And I consider XV’s Zero Heroes to be the best mixtape that should’ve been an album instead of a tape. I love Kanye, but I expect more “I write my curses in cursive”. What does that even mean Kanye?
This album have no single cause it’s too dope for radio.
Ye and jay make a classic rap song whit this one and the haters still hate what do you want? woka floka? 50cent? solja boy?
This is no way the finished version. Regardless, I don’t really like it. The sample’s too much and I don’t think it works well on the song at all. It should’ve had a harder, tough set of Kanye drums to balance out the sweet sample. The sample’s too overpoweing, but hopefully it’ll sound better on the final album. Hopefully.
WHERE WEED BROWNIES AT
this shit classic yeezy hova went in.
they answer to all them lex beats
that shits dope
That cursive line isn’t that hard to comprehend…it really isn’t…
Kanye Killed that beat but madlib would have killed it better.
I’m sorry but they killed this track…one second listen these lyrics were crazy…u truly have to listen to the lyrics and understand how dope that shit was…it’s straight boss shit…they killing the game and just speaking about it…real shit!
summer muzak finally!
This track is nuts!
Has anyone realized this isnt the final version…all this yammerin about an unfinished painting…the throne is laughing from the ivory tower. Dum fucks.
one thing for sure this is better than FAST LANE..
@P.H.I.L.L.Y , your smoking crack if he believe anything that you just said. All you people talking about Jay has no substance or message. Give me any topic or substance that you would like to hear about and ill direct you to a verse or song where Jayz has spoke about it. Other then that stop crying because you hear braggin coming outta his mouth. If you were worth almost a billion dollars wouldnt you brag some? OK then
this is garbage. the album will be certified bitch music. A. HOLE YOU PAPOOSED YOURSELF!
MUCH improved over that hot garbage that was H.A.M.
Start holding some of these new cats that alot of you droll over every week to the same lyrical standards that you hold Jayz and Kanye too. You people act like return of simba is just super dope but then get mad when you hear Mufasa talking. Then you go crazy over Tammys song but not a Kanye song. Shit make no sense at all.
Same sample as Masta Killa’s D.T.D.
^^^ same song sampled, rather
Tsk…I watch to many mobster movies…. Big fan of Jays last 2 verses… Just makes me think of so many of those flicks
For once NYC/BROOKLYN is actually speaking sense *shot*
@marty mcfly
Umm. Topics…abortion, politics, division in the church, did Jay talk about these?
Can’t get any better
Any opinion is like an asshole, everyone has one, but they don’t mean shit (mine included) but is it me? or are rap fans nowadays just TOO DAMN CRITICAL? Yall expectations are just too high, like these niggas are supposed to be musically infalible. Question, did Jordan win every game? Did Ali win every fight? If its one thing we learned about Jay-Z by now, its that his music has a boomerang effect, you prolly won’t catch it once its thrown, but after some time it’ll hit you just how dope and ingenious Jay-Z is, and Kanye is starting to have that same effect. I like the song, no it isn’t “Never Let Me Down”, no it isnt “Diamonds”, its not even “The Bounce” but it has its own place, its own sound. I expect this album too be pretty good, but some of yall need to chill and lower yo damn expectations a little. I expect greatness from KanJay (yes, I call them KanJay) but not perfection, yall are so focused on the smallest imperfections of the song that yall over look the high points, and there were many more high points in this song other than sample. And if you ask me, this year the only thing I’ve heard that has a classic feel is Elzhi’s “Elmatic”. But again, thats just my opinion.
Whether you like it or not @P.H.I.L.L.Y spoke the truth.
@Pauly Dee , for some reason you just like to talk to me way too much but anyway. NO Jayz doesnt talk about abortion but he has spoke on miscarriage in Soon Youll understand and hes spoke on the upbringing of kids on Meet the Parents and hes spoke on his own father numerous times.
heres some info on his political ties – Politics
Jay-Z got actively involved in politics during the 2008 presidential campaign, where he supported increased voter participation and helped send voters to polling stations.[110] He was an early supporter for the candidacy of Illinois senator and subsequent U.S. president Barack Obama, performing for free in voter-drive concerts financed by the Democrats’ campaign.[111] In the process, he’s become personally acquainted with Obama himself, who stated “Every time I talk to Jay-Z, who is a brilliant talent and a good guy, I enjoy how he thinks. That’s somebody who is going to start branching out and can help shape attitudes in a real positive way – Actions speak louder then song lyrics.
On religion jay only touches it a little but on The Allure from the Black album he uses many bible passages to make his verses and on the intro to the dynasty album he speaks on never reading the Quran or islamic scriptures.
But I guess he just doesnt have enough substance since he doesnt talk about abortion and church. After all his albums I guess he aint gave you enough substance. Riiiight.
1996: Reasonable Doubt
1997: In My Lifetime, Vol. 1
1998: Vol. 2… Hard Knock Life
1999: Vol. 3… Life and Times of S. Carter
2000: The Dynasty: Roc La Familia
2001: The Blueprint
2002: The Blueprint2: The Gift & The Curse
2003: The Black Album
2006: Kingdom Come
2007: American Gangster
2009: The Blueprint 3
Yeah after all these albums he just doesnt have enough substance for you I guess. Ill be sure to write him a letter about rapping about abortion just for you.
wow. 2dopeboyz C-Section is very hard to impress.
IMO I loved it.
This track is crazy yo! this def better than Royce & Em’s single
I’m Sorry. How is this horrible? Cause they rap about what they live.
@Pauly Dee , my bad the song he talks about miscarriage was his verse on This cant be life not Soon you’ll understand. Its not abortion but hey and he does have alot of rhymes about politics and religion but I guess you never heard those lines.
nobody gives a fuck about your self serving egotistical opinion just listen or don’t listen. niggas is bitches with the blah blah blah
And the other song I mentioned lyrics from is from Lucifer not The Allure. @nigga please – nigga please.
If Jada and Styles P rapped on this you ALL would be saying its alright and nothin special but since it has these two niggas on it everyone is like OHHHHHHHHH
smh
Good Song…could give a fuck if another nigga satisfied wit a FREE, PRICELESS song…opinions is opinions…worth less then a penny
I just wanna say this before everyone starts overreacting[sarcasm], it’s just one song on the album. Do we judge albums by singles? No, well you shouldnt. Judge the album by the album.
Only prob I really have with the song was fixed when I heard it on Jay’s site. It’s cool now, but still not classic or great.
@marty mcfly
Good that you know these subjects dude. You know your shit.
@P.H.I.L.L.Y It’s sad when you take that much space to hate… It isn’t good for you man.
“Give me any topic or substance that you would like to hear about and ill direct you to a verse or song where Jayz has spoke about it.”
FAILURE
@The Devil Ok you can say I failed. Thats fine with me and since you and Pauly believe this song aint that good and that Jay is lyrically weak then go ahead but whatever you people are listening to must be extremely lyrically and must have some incredible beats and subject matter because you people saying Jay dont have lyrics sound insane to me. You can have the c section debate wins cause anybody with common sense knows what im saying.
I’m gonna break down the science to yall niggaz about camel. I’m basically the official spokesperson of Brooklyn around this motherfucker anywayz. yall Boise Idaho, Fayetteville NC niggaz are too fuckin’ stupid to even know how MY Brooklyn and MY NY feels about this purple lip camel face nigga. yeah, the nigga shouted out BK in a few of his songs…who the fuck cares? the backstabbin’ nigga made it to the sellout top of rap music stardom…who the fuck cares? the nigga sold a few platinum albums…who the fuck cares? the nigga sold a few nickel and dime bags here and there…who the fuck cares? the nigga sold out everyone who he himself at one point in his life called his friend…who the fuck cares? the nigga shot his own brother over a gold chain…who the fuck cares? the nigga is married to a dizzy drunk dumb broad…who the fuck cares? the nigga relied on the death of the illest Brooklyn rap nigga to be noticed…who the fuck cares? I got no qualms or beef with the purple lip camel face nigga. I give the nigga his props for some of his business ventures in and out of the rap game. one thing I will never do is, respect this fake soul-less cut throat backstabbin’ sandal with jeans on the beach wearing sonnavabitch. the nigga is past his prime, he’s old and worn out like his punchlines in his 16 bars. niggaz kill me with the, camel is “quiet” “private” and “keeps to himself”, he’s a “real nigga”. the nigga is that way today because all his life he’s been called ugly. being ugly was one of the reasons why camel never finished high school. I seen this nigga get bullied all his life. real niggaz out here in BK knows camel use to sell girl scout cookies when he was young. I seen camel get bitchslapped when he was placing reasonable doubt album stickers on mail boxes back in the days. the nigga gave me a pound and hit me off with some stickers, told some other nigga he’ll pay him $10 if he posted some stickers on a few blocks. the nigga mollywhopped his ass on the realz. it was raining reasonable doubt stickers as camel drove off with two other dudes in a blue acura legend. I’m not gonna come out here and say I personally knew this nigga, but I knew this nigga. I’m not trying to get a book deal or sit on Oprah’s lap. lil nephew always tells me I need to write a book about my experiences in Brooklyn. I can break down plenty of camel stories. the funniest shit ever is, when camel called himself “the Michael Jordan of rap”. I played ball with this nigga. on the playground we used to call him double dribble. not only because he was awful playing ball, but for his big fuckin’ lips. camel went through alot of shit growing up, I’m not talking make believe struggling shit you hear in his records. the nigga went through alot of embarrassing moments. I remember when camel was like 14 or 15 at the time, this nigga was walking around BK with a python and poloroid camera. he was charging $5 if you wanted to take a pic with a python. that shit lasted for alittle while til he hooked up with Jaz-O for that Hawaiian Sophie shit. I can go on and on, but I gotta get back to this L and 40. A. HOLE YOU PAPOOSED YOURSELF!!!
are we sure madlib wasn’t on this beat.. it super madlib influenced.. I think he ghost produced or guided kanye on what sample to use.
SONGS GROWING ON ME NOT BAD EXPECTED SOMETHING ELSE BUT NOT BAD
@NYC/BROOKLYN …….. nigga shut ur ass up
I don’t get the hate, we all know the sample is dope. for the lyrics i guess you guys forgot about the album title, so ill remind you. its called WATCH THE THROWN, so of course there going to brag.
And did you really think the 1st song released was gonna be the best on the album? This may be the worst [although I am on record for saying I like it] and its just a thing to get you huys talking about it and the album. They are smart guys so I wouldnt put it past em. But I urge you to pump the brakes a bit.
What the fuck kind of standards do you fools have? Tell me what the standard should be? If the beat is cool and the lyrics are OK then that makes it a classic? What the fuck?!
Now I really am starting to feel old. I grew up to Tribe Called Quest, NWA, Wu Tang, Nas, Biggie, Tupac, Snoop, Dogg Pound…GAME changers. The niggas a lot of you dick riders favorite rappers got their influence from. The niggas who came out with shit that was different from everyone else, but UNDENIABLE! Kanye and Jay are game changing artist. This track is not as good as it should be for the amount of bragging they do.
There sure are a lot of dick riders on here trying to justify why something is hot. And some of yall are calling other people haters and saying these songs are hot cause they got millions or married to Beyonce. Guess what…THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE MUSIC!
This song is a 6/10 at least, and for the kind of abilities Jay and Ye have, that’s failing. Get over yourselves and DEMAND a HIGHER standard from these artist. Stop being a bunch of dick riding sheep. I’m out.
LMFAO, ROTFL @ NYC/BROOKLYN’s true hood stories from BK.
That Python shit killed me. I could go for a fatty of some OG and a 40 of Mickeys.
How fucking good do you people want them to be? What album should WTT sound like to meet your standards of dope hip hop? How do you want Jay and Kanye to rap that would be enough for you? You want Jay to rap like Andre 3k or Immortal technique , you want Kanye to rap like Tech9 or something. Damn Jayz aint lyrical enough for you then who should have be rapping like since the style that put him on top of the game isnt good enough for ya’ll?
I’m okay with a 6/10 but thats a breath of fresh air compaired to 2/10 lighters by BME or any of the garbage Young money puts out
OMG LMAO @ NYC/BROOKLYN. this has got to be one of the funniest shit I read in awhile.
>>>>I remember when camel was like 14 or 15 at the time, this nigga was walking around BK with a python and poloroid camera. he was charging $5 if you wanted to take a pic with a python. that shit lasted for alittle while til he hooked up with Jaz-O for that Hawaiian Sophie shit<<< Jay-Z & Kanye West – Otis f. Otis Redding. he just ethered the c-section.
@WTT “I’m okay with a 6/10 but that’s a breath of fresh air compared to 2/10 lighters by BME or any of the garbage Young money puts out”
So what you’re basically saying is the bar has been lowered so much, that Jay and Kanye can do “OK” and that becomes a breath of fresh air?
That’s sad. I hope you realize that.
@Marty Mcfly
I’ll tell you how good they should be…
1. They should be good enough to be CREATIVE! Where it doesn’t sound like a bunch of shit I’ve already heard coming from them and other rappers. Here’s a template for a song from Jay and Kanye: “chains”, “watches”, “crack”, “hoes”, “haters”, “club”. And all that is really no different than the other bullshit out, they just use bigger words in between.
2. It should be good enough to where it they do more than take a half assed sample, rap over it, and call it some classic shit.
3. It should be good enough to where niggas don’t have to take 3-4 listens to figure out if they like it, or to be able to concentrate on the lyrics cause the vocal in the sample is too fuckin loud.
What the fuck do YOU consider good? I bet if Jay or Ye are on it, you will cream your pants no matter what anyway.
Damn shame yall couldn’t have lived through the Golden Eras. Oh well. Here’s to low ass standards.
This is a fuckin classic. WTT Will be a classic
@ J , yeah sure man Jay and Kanye only rap about superficial stuff. This is just another club song that sounds like BMF. Yeah they just use big words to hide their lyrics about chains and hoes. They havent proven their some of the best rappers in the game. Riiight I guess Jay and Kanye dont know about real hip hop. ( Even though if the names were changed on this song to Nas and Common you people would be saying its incredible. ) Yeah American Gangster and BP3 and Dark Fantasy were just so lyrically weak and commercial these guys cant rap dope. Sure?
“the golden era” was the golden era because rap was still in a growing stage and had just got over that hill! yall need to realize it was only started [REALLY started in the 80s]. theres only so much shit an artist can talk about and damn near every thing has been touched on to some extent, thats why word play is so important in hip hop. bring some beefing back into the culture i know someone got to hate someone else lol. and all yall talking about “they talking bout the same shit”, invent something for them to rap about thats relevant cus what youre doing now, aint shit compared to what they were doing at the age you probably are now.
@Marty Mcfly
I’m not sayin they never made dope shit or game changing shit. I’m saying THIS isn’t dope.
Just cause they used to bat at 100 doesn’t mean this is a fuckin homerun.
And please don’t tell me what the fuck I would think. You’re standards are too basic and predictable to think you could predict me homie lol
@ NYC/BROOKLYN always thought about that shootin his bro over a chain too. But that Biggie’s death shit? You sayin he waited for him to die so he can come up?(Pause) oh, and the jawn is just what they planned for: the blogs to rip into, piranha.
*sighs, yawns & plays SK’s The Great Debater
@LAsVeryOwn Your whole comment is false. Music always is supposed to grow. Hip Hop can still grow and do new and different things. If they don’t have anything to talk about, then they need to take a hiatus and find something. Word play and being clever is cool, but it’s not my job to come up with something more thought provoking. THEY get paid to do that.
Why are yall making all these excuses? I’m saying they CAN do better, and should be doing better, and you’re telling me this C+ material is excellence? This is exactly why everybody think they can be a fucking rapper now, cause it doesn;’t take much but figuring out a double entendre. SMH.
and yeah since their so successful they dont have flows no more , thats why they dont sound hungry on this song. Lmao They dont sound completely disgusted with these weak rappers who think they the shit these days with their unmastered styles and sloppy delivery. Otis Redding? Yeah rapping over a sample of his song aint real hip hop. Having no hook with singing on it aint real hip hop and going back n forth lyrically aint real hip hop. Two powerful black men talking about their real life when they rap aint good enough no more. We need more Lil wayne punchlines and riddles and more gimmicks from Tyler and more hooks from Bruno Mars and more softer beats cause this hardcore sound is wack. We need more posers who pretend to be something their not , yeah that shit is dope. Yeah since Jay is not selling drugs no more then hes not real because you have to be currently selling drugs to be real. And rapping about reaching for higher goals like money , power and respect all while remaining true to yourself is wack too. Your right @ J
@Real hip hop , yeah The Great Debater is dope cause you can actually understand the point of his rhymes and the subject of his songs. Unlike Jayz , he just aint saying nothing in his rhymes. I done cause ya’ll niggas is ridiculous.
money, power & respect – life’s goals. there’s the problem
it’s just to much to comprehend huh marty
@Marty Mcfly Good for them being role models to make people to aspire to want Bentley’s and wear Italian designs. That’s excellent. They used Otis Redding, like a lot of other people have. My mind is fucking blown. Give them Grammys. Why don’t you step aside so I can get some of that Jay & Ye dick with you.
The fuck outta here. lol
Ain’t nobody talking about what’s real hip hop, the question is, is this shit hot? No. Is it very creative? No. This song is the same as HAM, just over a Otis Redding sample. It’s Haters from BP3 over a Otis Redding sample. It’s Swagger Like Us over an Otis Redding sample. It’s EVERY OTHER FUCKING COLLAB THEY HAVE DONE TOGETHER, over an Otis Redding sample!
Goodnight.
Yeah nobody want money , power or respect. People need conscience lyrics 24/7 about things like church , politics and growing health foods in your backyard. Yeah thats that real shit. Jay coming from nothing and almost dying to get outta the streets and then making an empire based on his music and becoming a hip hop icon isnt good enough. He should stay underground and not even make any real money , he should just smoke weed like Currensy and eat Krispy Kreme donuts like J Cole cause representing a powerful business mind that still in touch with the streets and being lyrical. Thats not really cool no more so your right @Real hip hop , fuck money , power and respect , those should be people goals in life. Smh
@J – hiphop is hiphop if it grows, that makes it something different, it can have different beats and rhyme schemes etc, but in the end if it doesnt, thats not hip hop. [i.e all the b.s the radio plays these days, thats hip pop homie] thats what the kids that have no clue about the CULTURE of hiphop listen to. if they dont have shit to talk about then they shouldnt be rapping, back in the “golden era” rappers were the voice of the people, nowadays rappers are people that wanna talk about themselves and not whats going on in the world, thats why kendrick is such a well liked rapper. and word play is just as important in rapping as any other aspect, if not more important than others, it gets you thinking. thats what makes 3 stacks, 3 stacks, biggie, biggie, rakim, rakim, hov, hov so on n so forth, and thats clearly why youre none of these dudes. youre right about one thing though, thats what THEY SHOULD BE DOING. shut your ratchet ass up.
Remember when Jay and Kanye made reference to people dying in africa over diamonds on the Diamonds from sierra leone? That wasnt no substance and remember they did Never Let You Down on Kanyes first album where Kanye has the poet talking on the end about being in tough with God and he’ll never let you down? Yeah thats wack too. Then that song The Joy where Kanye talks about the importance of family and the kids who never made it to their dream? That wasnt real either and then you got Jay talking about his childhood? Yeah they should always be on that shit , fuck this hardcore rap shit. Goodnite haters
omfg this is crack… seriously lookin forward to the album..
I recreated the instrumental if any wants it just click the link.
I just didn’t overlay the kicks, so just the sample it is.
http://hulkshare.com/3qq9kjs8rj1d
Wack. Wack. Fucking Wack.
I was excited for this track at first, but fuck. Why would they butcher Otis like that? And then throw in some James Brown screams? WTF is going on?
Them boys are shittin on their own damn thrown that they should be watching them damn selves.
ATTACK THE WACK.
I really want to like it but i don’t they just seem unconfortable on the beat. Sorry but “i love the dough” >>>>>
Funk Master Flex going crazy on this song dropping bombs all over this shit. After hearing that shit it only makes shit even more crazy. This nigga Flex was talking so crazy like “ALL RAPPERS PUSH YOUR MUSIC BACK NOW” This song is just so mean its ridiculous. If you dont put on the ugly face and nod your head crazy to this , stop listening to hip hop cause its not for you. Lmao this nigga flex is going ape shit right now…
I can see no one has listened to Masta Killa’s No Said Date album. This sample was also used by Mathematics to produce the track DTD on the album which feature Raekwon and Ghostface. That track was so dope. Back to Ye and Jay’s track, I like the way the sample was used as well but the lyrical content suffers a bit I must admit. That swag talk sounded good on H.A.M but is that all..oh shucks I just pressed rewind. I like it anyway.
Just realized after my fifth listen that jay-z in fact murked the track. He is back on his multiple entendre sawg. IMO.
@kickback no, you’re actually “mr me too” on your masta killa comment, mentioned already homeboy
shit is dope as fuck
jay and ye about to change the game
fuck the hate
200th!!!
Hov killed Yeezy on this ! “Photo shoot fresh, looking like wealth
I’m ’bout to call the paparazzi on myself !”
Dope track !
Nah he got him with “Arm out the window through the city
I’mma do it slow
Cock back,”
reference to leaning back, reference to drive-by, reference to being in a maybach because they have reclinersand reference to the watches he was talking about before
@Marty McFly.dude.RELAX.sheesh.
First time I heard it = “Umm… Ok.”
Second time I heard = “DAMN THEY WENT IN..”
Damn, you guys are seriously wayy too critical. You wanted a soul beat? Yeezy chops it up like a muthafucka. You guys wanted lyrics? Hov’ and Ye’ go back in forth with clever rhymes that make you feel like the shit even if you are poor. I don’t see a lot wrong with this song. WTT is gonna be a fucking problem.
“Cock back. Snap back.
See my cut through the hole.” This shit makes me feel like Scarface.. Especially with that Havana line from Hov.
@its a 4/5 , dont trip I just be fuckin around for the most part but still the punchlines in this song are fucking dope.
dope
Overall yeah it’s a straight track and people are right because we expect so much we do hold high standards but they gave us these standards by music they put out in the past so how can people say this is “hating”
I see some people don’t get the point of what we are trying to say, we are not saying they need to stay underground @marty Mc fly what we are saying is that they have given us substance before and can do it now, I mean look at Jay he has done all he can do he’s already on top and Ye too so they can talk about anything they want to on a track and have substance and STILL not be underground.
its aiight… ima give yall some deep shit tho.. this nigga right here got substance… >>> http://honorrollstudent.blogspot.com/2011/07/kaj-kadence-smooth-rhythm.html <<< listen to da whole tape.. i wish a nigga would say he not nice… best niggas is underground..
@food4thought , I understand what you sayin but I think sometimes artists gotta get ugly and make some criminal minded , flashy but still lyrical “just dont give a fuck music” On some , Jayz – run up on Yeezy the wrong way I mite merk you , type shit. Not everything is meant to be deep and philosophical. Sometimes its time to just get aggressive with shit.
shit is decent bitches, dear kids. also u marty, ure a fuckin retard idiot if u think a song without hook aint real hip-hop…smh
im sure ppl never heard shit like this from Yay & Jay since many years ago.
kids like strugglin these days. FUCK WOLF GANG fuckin faggots.
uknowwhatimsayin nigga
Um yea I didn’t like this…thought it was pretty wack actually.
Is it really necessary to keep rappin about how rich you are?
they aint rapping bout money, cars or bitches. they talk bout themselves.
This shit …. boooooooo
Like the old saying goes…”you get rich, you stop trying”
i really don’t give a fuck what all of you say, i’m still hyped for the album. and this song goes.
suck it.
.I paid $32.67 for a XBOX 360 and my mom got a 17 inch Toshiba laptop for $94.83 being delivered to our house tomorrow by FedEX. I will never again pay expensive retail prices at stores. I even sold a 46 inch HDTV to my boss for $650 and it only cost me $52.78 to get. Here is the website we using to get all this stuff, BidsOut.com
17 year old kids hatin on Jay-Z…shame on u little niggas. smh
i saw sumbodies like dicks here fuck u dummie. suck my cum and share it with tyler the faggot.
The artistry of any individual is built on the foundation of his experience. That’s why as a person’s life goes from selling drugs, hustling, or dropping out of college to fame, fashion, and Forbes, it shows in their music. So we can’t fault them for that; they can only take us as far as they’ve been themselves.
But with that said, calling an album “Watch the Throne” automatically generates expectations for a project much more than materialism. The title alone screams “let me show you how it’s done” among a new class of rappers who only seem to be consumed with money, sex, and drugs. As fans, we hold our breath and wait for the head coach and quarterback to change the direction of the game. Yet, it’s slowly starting to appear the game has changed them, and we merely get the same substance in a higher tax bracket.
This is the disappointment that will come if HAM and Otis signify the sentiments of WTT. Understandlably, no one can take from what they’ve contributed to hip-hop over the years, but with lyricists like Kendrick and Cole on the come-up, and even more artists who display more honesty, wit, and hunger in their craft, these two will not be on the throne forever.
Dropping a dope joint like this with this kind of production could be the start of MAINSTREAM Hip-Hop going back to the raw sampling days. The sound of it is a RARITY in MAINSTREAM nowadays. I’m surprised the labels even let them put this on the album. I’m surprised most of you don’t like it… Would you rather hear Flocka and Gucci all day? And to the dummies complaining about the lyrics.. go kill yourself. You expect these dudes to rap about struggles.. death.. abstract shit and hood stories? Why would they even do that? They’ve been rapping about money.. girls.. cars.. etc etc most they’re careers. That’s TRULY the life they live.. and if you’re looking for SUBSTANCE in a MAINSTREAM release at this point in time. You’re a fucking retard anyways. At least this is a step up from the repetitiveness of mainstream. Most of you niggas is POP fans deep down in your hearts.. -_-
yeah but u ppl still never heard 11 songs left. calm down b4 a whole listen. and just watch their throne. niigah
This beat is so NASTY! I don’t care what they are saying lol!
by the way most thumbs up for haters. get it hot.
LMFAO @ this page. support artist who u want. LOL
SUPPORT THIS GUY RIGHT HERE–> http://soundcloud.com/d-madz/superman-prod-ld-exclusive
And if you don’t thats cool cus i ignore every shitty rapper posting their links on here but CLICK IT MAYNE
There are two sides to this argument, those that like this song, and those that don’t.
Those who like it, like it because, well, it’s Jay-Z and Kanye, and no matter what they do, they can do no wrong. They see themselves as fans, while the other side argues that they’re dickriders, and both sides are right.
Those who dislike (hate) it, dislike it because, well, it’s Jay-Z and Kanye, and they’ve raised the bar while making dope music in the past, yet they don’t come close to it with this song and rap about the same bullshit that less-talented rappers rap about, and a large majority of people enjoy listening to materialistic shit (i.e. people who have no taste in music), which is so played out at this point it’s sickening.
Personally, I’m sick of hearing Jay-Z and Kanye talk about how awesome they are and how extravagant their lives are. Thanks, you’ve told me that before on multiple occasions. Can you please tell me something else? No, ok then, I’ll pass on this weak-ass album, just like I’ve been doing for the past few years.
The way I judge ‘classic’ material is by asking this question, “If this song or album was done by an underground artist that nobody knew, would the project still be dope and well-received?” In other words, strip the project from all the hype, fame, and etcetera “fluff” surrounding it, and see if it can stand out on its own.
The lyrics do nothing for me. I love the style, though. Sample is hard, but could definitely do without the screaming.
@ marty mcfly – you’re existence is futile.
The masses will eat this shit up because people are sheep. Rap fans epitomize narcissism, materialistim & and celebrating ignorance over appealing production. This album will be the crown jewel of all these things. In the grand scheme of things, people aren’t looking to hip hop for knowledge, spiritual gain, or guidance. They’re looking to nod their heads are repeat ignorant lyrics while under the influence. Yeah, Jay Z & Kanye will make more money off this album, but ya’ll acting like they’re of divinity are embarrassing. Ya’ll aren’t gaining shit from this.
*your
^Wow that was a really objective point of view. So either you like the song because you’re a dickrider or you hate it and you’re right. STFU! It’s more like people who hate it were gonna hate it anyway. They could of exhumed the bodies of BIG and Pac and had them on the track and people like you probably still would’ve been like “eehh it’s alright.” I don’t understand what exactly people were expecting Jay-Z and Kanye to talk about. World politics, the Casey Anthony trails, global warming, what? I’m sure there will be some political and world view references, as well as personal songs, on the album, but to not expect a lot of these songs to be very braggadocios is a bit naive on the part of the listeners.
jay-z and kanye over random soundclick beat. Boooooooooo!
Nas over this same sample wouldve actually rapped about “Otis Redding”. Jigga and fish sticks chose to rap about a bunch of shit none of you broke fucks can relate to yet you all still eat it up. The world is doomed, come fast earthquake
@ericdean let’s be real. If exact this song were Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole or Nas and Common, the same people hating it would be praising it as the greatest thing ever. I’m not saying this is the illest song to ever be made in the history of rap (which I honestly think some unrealistic people think it should be.) But nigga’s acting like it’s hot garbage when it’s FAAAARRRR from that.
@SmokinAces. Nothing of the sort. “More substance” simply means more insight, more depth into who you are and what you know, beyond the surface; everyone can’t rap politics, and we’re not asking them to. Jay, tell us about what is means to be a husband, your POV on the new school, the pressure of living up to the title of “GOAT”, the real face of the industry, etc. Real stuff. We know you’re on Forbes; we know you’re rich. Who cares. Kanye, reincarnate College Dropout. Tell us what’s really going on with you. Stop hiding behind the facade.
And to those who are overly emotionally tied to this album, everyone who provides constructive criticism against it isn’t “hating”, a word that has really been abused in this generation.
Yes, we are expecting more from two grown men who are over 30 and 10+ years in the game. Your art has to evolve.
Honest question to anyone who’s willing to answer… what at this point in their careers could Jay and Ye do to “wow” you? Because guess what, all your favorite rappers rap about how fresh, fly, ill, dope, swag, etc they are too. This includes “golden era” rappers (Rakim, Kane, Kool G Rap, etc.) And apparently people have decided to overlook the MANY songs by Jay and Ye that don’t deal with how dope they are and how much money they have.
Jay-Z
Allure, Lucifer, December 4th, So Ambitious, DOA, Empire State of Mind, You Must Love Me, D’Evils, Coming Of Age, Can’t Be Life, Meet The Parents, etc.
And you don’t have to search hard to find Kanye’s many songs about everything from politics, to social issues, to relationships, to his mother, etc.
Do you fools listen to music or do you just skim through it?
Am I really reading that people want Jay-Z to talk about politics and school? Come on man now, I know you kids don’t like his apparent “lack of substance” now, but you dudes want this guy to do a total 180 on his style…..
@SmokinAces. I agree. I’ve noticed that the new ‘trend’ is to assume that whatever is popular or mainstream is automatically weak and watered. But there’s also been a trend to assume that whatever is recorded over an old school sample is automatically classic.
Recite the lyrics out loud to yourself without the beat, and tell me if it moves you. If it does, then good for you. It doesn’t for me. I just expect more. But I’ll just chalk this one up to two dudes having fun over a beat. I won’t make a definitive judgment until I hear the whole thing in context.
You clowns floor me with your negativity. “This does nothing for me.” “It’s wack.” “Coulda been better.” “I expected more.” Yet you’re the first ones to go and buy a Young Money mixtape or whatever the hell is out nowadays.
I used to write about it on a daily basis, now I don’t even listen to this shit they call “rap” anymore. But from what I gather from these stupid comments, you want more finger snapping, dirty South coon monkey music. More grillz. More nonsensical english over elementary beats– elements that are highly representative of Southern music. More buffoonery. More piss-poor party music, etc… the list goes on. Well you know what? All you clueless idiots between the ages of 13 and 23 need not comment on this song. You know NOTHING ABOUT RAP.
Now for my thoughts on this song: Refreshing. ‘Ye got off that corny auto-tune, half-ass rapping shit and went back to the old drawing board. The sample is dope. The lyrics are good but not deep… and why would they be? In an era where focusing too entirely on lyricism loses the interest of most of the unintelligent rap audience, you can’t get too fancy. Aside from that, the words are made to appeal to any ear in any setting: Club, gathering, BBQ, on the streets, in the car… this song is fit for radio play all day. Along with the beat, the flow of the words have a “nod-your-head” effect. Good shit.
Brilliant. But as someone before me said: The screaming is a little extra.
@ericdean You’re telling me Jay has never touched on any of those subjects? Again this is one song, far from a final representation of what the album will be. From what I understand, there are songs relating to those very topics on the album, so I honestly think people should chill and wait for the album. And Kanye can never “reincarnate College Dropout” because Ye is so far removed from that person that made that album. It’s an unrealistic expectation.
And some people are dropping “constructive criticism” but some were just not gonna like this song before they heard it because of the two artists on it.
@Savannah. As a fan, I want more for them than to just be great rappers; I want to them to be great men. I don’t negate or neglect the significance of the insightful tracks that you just listed. I’m just commenting on the fact when they deviate from that path, in my opinion, they go backwards.
This is an ill track, however times are changing. We know they live like this already so they are technically spitting their lives but people want true honesty. We wanna know what’s really really going on in their live. They can even keep it abstract but There is an emotional disconnect so far with their singles. I know you can feel it. That is why Drake is winning right now. Everyone in the world is vulnerable except these 2 people???
Drake – I’m just feeling like the throne is for the taking, watch me take it.
@ericdean No I won’t say I was moved by anything that was said in particular. I just liked the way they attacked the track and thought it was dope. This is just some nice punchline fly rap shit. And I can appreciate for being that. Trust, if I thought the shit was weak lyrically, I wouldn’t be fucking with it. But I thought they did their thing. No nothing earth shattering, nothing that’s gonna spark revolutions, but dope none the less.
I do appreciate that you are not making a definitive judgement like some folks. I still forsee a stellar album when it’s all said and done.
“Kanye can never “reincarnate College Dropout” because Ye is so far removed from that person that made that album. It’s an unrealistic expectation.”
I should have re-worded that better. I meant reincarnate the honesty and vulnerability he had on that album. You’re right, it is too early to tell. So I’ll just wait and see.
@Reckless. There’s something wrong with catering to the ‘unintelligent rap audience’ in and of itself. People can’t crave what they’ve never had.
“Am I really reading that people want Jay-Z to talk about politics and school? Come on man now, I know you kids don’t like his apparent “lack of substance” now, but you dudes want this guy to do a total 180 on his style…..
james dean said this on July 21st, 2011 at 10:54 am”
_________________________________________________________
I partially agree. They’re being ridiculous, and as shown by the “likes” and “dislikes,” it is a very insignificant amount of people who feel this way. IMO, what they’re asking for is not really a change in style. It’s about them labeling the lyrics as “unmoving.” Are they serious though? Really? … If they HAD gotten deeper with their lyrics, people would be complaining about that shit too. Get the fuck outta here. This isn’t meant to be “Illmatic” and “Reasonable Doubt” meets Dead Prez and Immortal Technique. This is merely a hot, new summer time record that Ye and Hov are bringing to their fans. People need to go get laid. Or smoke a blunt. Something. There are far too many people with their panties in a bunch over “lack of complexity.” Give me a break.
Eric Dean, they can’t always go deep and personal on every song. Do you wake up every day wanting to be deep and insightful. No. Some days you wake up and just don’t give a fuck. Sometimes you’re on some fresh fly shit. Sometimes you just wanna party, fuck hoes, and get wasted. I think it’s more so a fact of you not liking, for whatever reason, when they get on this rich man talk than it is them taking a step backwards.
“Listens to this track…”
This track is good PERIOD. Tracks a lil short tho, shouldve added 1 extra verse. And for the niggas saying this track > BME: Hell The Sequel. Shoot yoself asap. BME Hell The Sequel was a good ass album. Em and Royce flow was perfect. Both of them had a great chemistry. And I don’t know if Watch The Throne will have the same chemistry but we’ll see. As for Marty Mc ”Fat Joe is better than Nas” Fly, GET HOV DICK OUTTA YO MOUF NIGGUH! It seems like Jigga is payin you to ride his dick on every blog.
Guess im the only one that finds this sample obnoxious (shrugs)
@Savannah. That’s why I previously stated:
“I’ll just chalk this one up to two dudes having fun over a beat. I won’t make a definitive judgment until I hear the whole thing in context.”
‘Preciate your perspective though.
Niggas are funny. Every song has to be super duper extra conscious huh? Let niggas talk that shit. But act like Hov ain’t have one of the best verses this year on that Shiny Suit Theory though or on the Joy.
I’d like to see Jay on some deeper shit, but Kanye tried really hard to do that on MBDTF and lyrically, he was worse than ever. So I’m cool with punchline Ye.
Bet money if Sean Price drop some shit on here talking bout whooping a nigga ass, that shit a be “Dope as hell, real Hip Hop” Lol, like Sean Price don’t talk about whooping a nigga ass in every song. No diss to Sean though, that nigga nice. But such a double standard when it comes to certain artist, it’s crazy.
basically none of you wont understand more than pitchfork who give kanye a 10 last time. so shut ur ass up
*gave
That yelling at the end is fucking horrible. Song is decent, I guess.
*puts Section.80 back on after a few listens*
and since i’m reading a lot of Drake references on here..Whats the difference between Ye and Hov talking the money shit and every other Drake song being about a relationship or fame….I’m a huge Drake fan, i’m just pointing that out.
@LOL
You’re absolutely right. Forget about the abstract individualism that is the very foundation of music itself, everybody should just sit back and let corporate media tell us what to enjoy.
lol the only thing worth reading on here is NYC/BROOKLYN.
So Nas, Raekwon, Ghostface, Method Man, Pusha T, Big Boi, Styles P, Royce Da 59, and Prodigy get praise for rapping about the same things as Jay and Kanye who get criticized for it. odd
(This + That’s My Bitch) > The entire Hell: The Sequel EP
disappointed… vocal from sample is also annoying when they’re spittin their verses.
“I made Jesus Walks, I’m never goin to hell”… LOL… such a modern Christian way of thinking… you can live your whole life being as much of an ignorant asshole as u want but as long as u still praise Jesus u won’t go to hell. Yea, cuz I’m sure your imaginary friend in the sky is just THAT much of an egomaniac. Good one Yeezy!! LOL
On a lighter note… this track GOES!! Lol
@Yea
Shut yo ass up. you clearly didn’t listen to Bad Meets Evil every closely. What about Echo, Living Proof, I’m On Everything, Fast Lane… etc. Fucking dope beats with dope rhymes, you dumb ass.
Disappointed that it isn’t longer. Otherwise digging the sample and the raps.
i actually find the sample annoying lol but yeaa dope track
ANother Jay-Z post with more dick sucking from @marty mcfly
@Pack is dead saying Kanye was lyrically worse than ever on MBDTF, have you not heard Dark Fantasy, Gorgeous, & Power? Ye went in on those, and this song is decent. Still hoping for WTT to be a dope ass album
yall bitches complainin about substance in this ONE song, but when kendrick drops songs like michael jordan and spiteful chant, your suckin his dick aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall day long
but kendrick did get it right “too many niggas not enough hoes and most of yall niggas acting like hoes”
quit hating punk ass hoes
The Beat from Masta Killa’s D.T.D bodies this beat by far. Also Ghostface’s verse on that bodies any verse from these two. Listen and tell me i’m wrong
has it been that long since you’ve heard good music that you can no longer recognize it???!!!!!!!! wow… this is LEGENDARY!!!!!!!!!!
Its alot of broke ass people on here that hate to see niggas with money talk about it their rhymes and you still cant figure out why the presence of two highly successful veterans in rap is extremely important in hip hop. You people need to realize what the rest of the world see when they see Jay and Kanye , you need to realize that theirs people who hate hip hop and think all rappers are stupid. Then in walks Jayz and Kanye but you people will bring down your own representatives cause it hurts you that much that they are not ashamed of having money. Fuck ya’ll… get money and you clowns talking about these new rappers who dropped a few mixtapes are showing more skill then Jayz and Kanye? Thats extra retarded.
i like it but i feel like ye could have made a better beat… he’s fucking kanye, why is he JUST looping something ?
@EricDean , Yes I was moved by the lyrics on this song and other people will be too. You have to understand that people like and want money as much as you try to pretend that money isnt important you really know thats bullshit. A kid in the ghetto whos broke as fuck doesnt want to be anymore depressed by conscious lyrics all day and soft beats. Conscious rhymes are very important but thats how Jay and Kanye built their career cause all you clowns know they are both so much more then superficial subjects. When A kid hears these lyrics and repeats them , that kid gets a more ambitious mentality whether you want to believe it or not. If you think people dont fantasizes about being in the position that Jay is in money wise your crazy. Jay keeps that hope alive that you can come from nothing and make millions and still keep it gangsta. This songs lyrics are simply saying fuck you , I got money and im ready for whatever. Thats showing strength , power and intelligence and the beat is saying fuck the pretty shit lets get back to the essence. But you still mad because you expect more?
9/10
I know it’s CDQ, but hopefully they go back and master the fuck out of it! The sample is dope, but a bit overbearing. Better than what I could do though, lol.
Jay’s verse’s will warm up to me when I get the whole PROject, Kanye always fells like he’s rapping to the outdoors the way his voice carries, while for Jay rapping seems (*is) so effortless and smooth that being on a track with Kanye makes him sound even more calm. A great contrast in styles though, hopefully it translates to a solid PROject???
@LAsVeryOwn
Did you do math to get that 98.9%? Shouldn’t check someone’s math when you’re not even using math yourself. Just throwing out numbers. This shit’s hot. Point blank
hasnt yet it time to grow kids? so when u so yonkers? u fuckers
what matters to u when sumone raps bout money or they count money? what happens to u ? what uve to do with that? UGK, Outkast and many others from southside did same shit lyrically years ago. they got positive attention in the most part. but when it comes to Yay & Jay sky rains and ppl get mad that act like talkin bout money is a taboo. c-section is a joke. out

Hey… Who here likes blowjobs?
“Luxury rap, the Hermes of verses
Sophisticated ignorance
Write my curses in cursive”
dope
I love both these artists. But this song doesn’t work. In fact, it’s bad.
Mathematics already sampled this way better than fucking coon Kanye. And had better rappers rip that shit Raekwon and Ghostface. DTD on No Said Date.
multiple comments from an individual, it is what doesnt work indeed. not this song.
Sounds like a freestyle session
Lyrics where on point not amazing but they didn’t fail us here. I’m in the minority but I expected the beat to be a little more smooth.
Dope track but i’ll hold off judgement until I hear more.
Go to HHDX and you’ll get your answer to whether its a good song or not…
*SPOILER*
IT
IS
NOT
the 2098th thumb just went up. so in the year 2098 u would know that u were wrong and this song actually was dope.
#StopHATING
I invented swag.. Poppin bottles puttin supermodels n a cab, Proof, I guess i got my swagger bag, Truth… Asylum can b purchased? Run up on yeezy the wrong way i might murk him..
ya’ll wilding.. Hov sound like a young 25 year old nigga gettin money…
Honestly, the sample gets annoying after a minute or so.. it’s aight.. 6/10.
@ pauly dee….. hip hopdx releases more disinformation than most blogs and dont even proof read their articles and can’t even construct a grammatically correct sentence. and their site is full of trolls. why the hell would I care what their opinion is about a song? why the hell do you let them determine what is good and what is bad for you?
This song is fire. wtf is yall talking bout. but i knew that when i saw 200+responses, i knew that atleast 2/3 of it was gonna be hate. just mad that this has miami heat hype around it and its living up to it. i mean we’ve heard 3 already. HAM(which only gets hate bcuz its a lex luger beat, and ppl just dont like any south artists PERIOD. i mean you got folks saying their take wiz khalifa or wayne, somethings wrong. when you hear ppls top 5 or 10 andre 3k isnt even an honorable mention, somethings wrong)
but back to the song, the fact is if u had to take any leg luger song and put them head-to-head, HAM is number. thats all. its not great but its the best lex luger song. end of story.
the joy speaks for itself. that didnt even have to be a bonus, that could of been on the album and been straight. get a feature or extra verse or sumthin and we straight.
and now otis. and after i listened to i thought,”alright now how the fuck are they gonna hate on this one” and they say…….the sample saved em -____- or kanye went weak -_____- or kanye spazzed but jay didnt. “photoshoot fresh, looking like wealth. im bout to call the parazzi on myself” -_______-. and no, this nigga isnt rhyming jay elct yamaka commenter sonic-tra kamahamaha or sum weird-al-yankovic royce da 5’9 shit, he just cool. chillin. spittin sum smooth shit. but its shit like that right there that drives the haters. their wealth. mad cuz they got all that money and still making great music so they gotta come up with ridiculous excuses for why the song was wack.
sidenote, thats one bigass runon sentence and is meant to be read as so.
and what gives me a kick is that they cry and bitch saying THERES NO REAL HIPHOP ANYMORE. and you know that phrase, you wouldnt know something if it hit you in the face, this is it slapping you across yo damn head.
and what also grinds my gears is when they continue to hate by saying shit like “kanyes first two albums were great” like MUTHAFUCKA? DID YOU NOT HEAR HIS OTHER 3? i mean 808s might not yo cup of tea PERSONALLY(which makes your statement a full blown opinion and not a debatable fact), but if it is then you understand why that is another classic. one. two. Graduation. i mean, barry bonds, everything i am, good morning, champion, big brother, cant tell me nothing. not to mention the goodlife, flashing lights, stronger. they peep the pink cover and the hate starts, but ima get to that later.
and for MBDTF? you niggaz is really hatin on that? when you got production from the rza, bink!, no i.d., plus gil scott-heron on your outro. smh. i mean i swear niggaz miss everything but the cover. and when i say niggaz i dont mean just black folks, im also talkin to the dumbass white/spanish/etc niggaz who think they know what “real” hiphop is as well.
but on MBDTF i think nigga just peeped the pink cover, odd title, and weird picture and had their minds made up regardless of the music. Devil in a New Dress is easy top 30 song for 2000s+. i mean this nigga isnt lil b, he isnt lil wayne. he kanye west. the nigga who was produced for the blueprint on at the peak of the roc-a-fella dynasty. and thats just a resume statement.
i agree with the realest. so word to ma dukes.
ima just keep it short n to the point.
Otis is krazy, and WTT is gonna be krazy.
“I Made Jesus Walks/Im never going to hell”
#CmonSon
u dnt like this, your closed minded n a pure hater.
PS: you haters! I bet most of yall cant even id the actual sample used for this jawn. Do that then say somthin!!!!!!!
We don’t know classic? nigga you don’t know progression with people comparing the 90s to now and saying niggas never will be this there is no progression and thats a shame maybe we should wait till 90s dick riders die for a chance and i love 90s too but we still need to grow up
and who wants to hear a rap about subject matter and struggle all the time i mean it has its times but there is time where braggin about the life you live because they do make ssinc eit rap what you want jay to rap about hey im 40 and i woke up and fuck beyonc eblah blah and kanye i was at the studio makin beats blah blah let them do them weak ass niggas yo.
yeezy usin the same flow he used on “take one for the team”
im jus sayin…
Im feeling dis.y are yall niggaz hating.yall shld get pussy and keep it str8t.bitch ass niggaz
Damn… this is dope as fuck
@daman You are right I agree 100% I would never compare Jay and Wayne because Wayne has no substance whatsoever and Jay does talk about real content AT TIMES just not here just like the Black album/American Gangster/kingdom come contain way more substance than say BP3 just depends on what Jay is rappin on I get your point though bruh
Both links are down. Someone post a link please.
its never what u do but how u do it,people arent upet because what ye an j is rappin about doesnt relate to them, cause when u look at the industry in a whole, not many people depict complete reality cause reality is boring and to be bored is not why people listen to music(or watch movies for that matter) so rappers are groomed to strech the truth or just flat out lie so us the fan can be entertained by if only for a moment, living in there shoes. people are upset cause no matter if what they said related to u or not the shit was wack, period. if they would of rapd about the same old topics in some hot new ways people would not care if there bank accounts match with theres. honestly i think they should loose the yes men or who ever tells the best rapper alive that what he just spit was showing the world and these hungry new young spitters that hes still the best. cause it didnt and tough love is assential for growth in talent
The sample is on fire. That’s really the only thing that sticks out in my mind to me, but talk about being green and kind to the planet. The lyrical content has been recycled more then paper. It’s cool to hear a few songs that are celebrating success but it’s become repugnant. I rather take an instrumental or the actual Otis Redding for content.
beat is wicked.. lyrics are okay. i dont think this is a song on the album. just something for us to munch on til the full coarse meal comes. IM HUNGRY !
Most of the people on this blog probably think Rick Ross is a lyracist…Point is, Kanye and Jay make good music together and this song is going to be yet another hit!!! THAT BEAT IS SICK!!!
view on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rl7AtssXY9k
All yall haters will be the first to download the entire album when it leaks DON’T DENY IT.
Fuck all ya’ll hater on Jay and Ye bithc this history no matter what you hoes say http://www.mediafire.com/?ozccl7x6y1tach5
These the same niggas crying over Amy Winehouse as being deep. Although she had her little chant of Blacks, Pakis, Gooks and Nips, gay, dumb and blind. Blacks, Pakis, Gooks and Nips. Yall better realize what the black artists are trying to do for our culture.
Do you get mad when the rich white man show you how rich he is in his music, videos, tv shows and movies. The song is dope and if you listen carefully it’s about all of striving to get in a good position.
The verses were cool but fuck this sample. Yall niggas on drugs, that shit don’t sound nice at all, its fucking distracting, can’t even hear what they saying. And some things just shouldn’t be sampled, this is like pissing on Otis Redding’s grave, ya’ll niggas need to have more respect for the real old school
Ysl young boys need to stop. 90s babies kill yourself. It wasn’t made for you. Go listent to when i roll up. this shit is fire. that sample is sick Kanye shittin on jay-z now.
