Quite frankly I’m Ignoring this one, Wayne to me is not hip hop. Call me a hater if you want to but this is my opinion. I am not knocking his success as mainstream rapper but when Hip Hop artists are required to bring mic skills and say something that displays content I just don’t see Wayne as one of those people. At the same time he is NOT a flocka, Boosie, or Soulja Boy (THANK GOD) but he is not Luda, Fab, Jay, Jada and so on.

He needs to put some content and subject matter back into his records. Until he does that I will not be checking for his music. i like lil wayne and i judge his music based on well, WHETHER ITS ACTUALLY GOOD OR NOT. As someone said above, fans should expect the best from their favorite artists, and i dont understand why so many wayne fans get upset when someone says this shit is bad, because guess what, its fucking bad. if mortons steahkouse put a piece of shit on a plate and called it steak, would you still say its good because its mortons and you like it there? its not hate at all, its just reality. wayne puts out a lot of bad music, but also puts out good music. i dont care if its free or not, why put music out at all if its not gona be quality. if wayne cut his discography in 1/3 and focused on putting out only quality music, id think of him much differently.

1. Tunechi’s Back – 3.2/5. If you went to this post, you know how I feel about this track.

2. Rollin’ – 3.5/5. His flow on this is monstrous, but that’s used to get you away from the subpar lyrics.

3. Throwed Off – 3.3/5. The lyrics on here are the same, but Gudda Gudda does a good job with hypin’ Wayne up.

4. Gucci Gucci – 4/5. Personally Kreayshawn is trash imo. But this beat surprisingly isn’t. One of the best songs on the mixtape.

5. Marvin’s Room – 2/5. Did…he actually try to sing for a little bit? No…

10. Sorry 4 The Wait – 3.7/5. Thank you, Dwayne, for completely ruining Adele’s masterpiece for me!

11. Run The World – 1.4/5. He killed this beat, yo! And not in a good way! The entire track had him talking like fuckin Forrest Gump!

In conclusion, this is a VERY below average mixtape. And that’s wierd, because his mixtapes usually go in. With that in, don’t take my word for it because its MY opinion and its just how I see it. So, if you wanna listen to it, just listen to it. Make your own mind up about this mixtape. But, to me, this can’t even be called music.

This mixtape overall is terrible in my opinion. Firstly, the singing he attempts in the Marvin’s Room and Sure Thing freestyles is just so bad, anyone can admit that. Secondly, his punchlines have become stale and recycled, you should be able to expect how the line will go. Finally, his style of rapping is too simple now, he’s dropping fast in terms of skill.

He has his fans though so it seems like he’ll never drop from the pedestal his fans so unrightfully has established for him. He is not the best rapper alive anymore to me so I say RIP old Lil Wayne.

Man please quit comparing Kendrick Lamar to Lil Wayne. You cant compare them. Lil wayne is one of the best to ever do it. You gotta give the man his credit. Although i agree he has fallen off a little bit, but what rapper has put out as much material as him. Ya boy Currensy learned his work ethic from wayne. Kendrick Lamar is an up and coming rapper with 0 radio play or charisma. We can smell how the lyric is gonna end from miles away. People say Wale rhymes like he’s forcing it..Wayne sounds like he’s just rattling off simple lines for the sake of making a song.
This shit…Sorry 4 the Wait is wack, and anyone who likes is 1 of 3 types of fans.
1. They only skim the surface of rap (e.g. they probably don’t know who J. Cole, Jay Electronica, Kendrick Lamar, Blu, etc are)
2. They’re simple minded and like easily quoted lines
3. They’re younger (still teenagers) and didn’t get to experience Wayne at his finest but they ride his dick because for two reasons; a. either they’re jealous that we (20+ crowd) got to hear his music when it was fresh or b. they’re just dickriding

I’m really not looking forward to C4. If there are two or three good radio songs I’ll be happy, but with the quality of music I’ve heard from him since C3 (which wasn’t so great itself) I’m not expecting much.

And for the record I’m not a purist. I listen to my fair share of ignorant/simple rap (Purple Swag, Zan Wit the Lean, etc) but this is trash even compared to those songs.

Well I’m 20, I started rocking with Wayne in 10th grade, so I guess I haven’t been listening to Wayne for as long as you. But I can tell you I was one of the fans who knew all the words to The Drought Mixtapes, I was one of those people checking Datpiff everyday for a new tape (even if it wasn’t official)…you get it, I was a big fan.
But then he went Rebirth. It was strange, there were maybe 2 songs on there that I liked (Hot Revolver, Prom Queen).
Then No Ceilings came. It was cool..he had 3 songs on there I listened to a lot, but the “I am the shit” lines and the amount of times he used the word pussy were a major turn off. He sounded stupid in a dumb way, not stupid in a fun way.
Then We Are Young Money came and to be honest I thought Drake and Tyga’s verses always outmatched whatever Wayne had to say. I didn’t like the CD overall though so I barely listened.
Then that last EP, I am not a Human Being. Gonorrhea, I Am not a Human Being (The OG version not the EP version), and Right Above It were good. Otherwise, I thought trash.
This tape right here was a trainwreck. I hate the over-produced/crowded beats the south is so heavy on, so the beginning of the tape really turned me away. I still listened though, and then he started singing, I was ready to kill myself. Made it a few songs more, and I got to the last 3 songs which I just skipped through (from what I could tell they sucked).

6’7 was a huge track, but the novelty of it only lasted for about a month tops, so it wasn’t a ‘classic’. John…I’d like to forget that track happened, but I can’t because Rick Ross in the wheelchair is too funny.

The way I see it, Wayne dominated hip hop when the mixtape game was very stale, and when big anthems were the popular way to go (think I’m So Hood). Now hip hop has changed. He has tough mainstream competition like Big Sean, Bobby Ray, Drake, Frank Ocean, Gucci (I can’t believe I just said that), J. Cole, Jay-Z, Kanye, CuDi, Lupe, Mac Miller, Mike Posner, Tyga, Wale, and Wiz Khalifa. They’re all bringing something new to hip hop.
The underground movement too, there’s so many people bringing something new to the game (The Cool Kids, Jay-E, XV, Curren$y, etc.)

This is all my opinion, so you can tell me I’m wrong. But the way I see it..Wayne is done. It’s not like I think he sucks. I’ll still play tracks from The Dedication series, from The Drought series, Weezy Effect series, but his new stuff. Yuck…

@red I see where you’re coming from and for the most part agree — especially with how bad Rebirth and Not a Human Being are/were. I just don’t agree on the “he’s done” part. His delivery and flow still can’t be touched, even if his subject matter is becoming rather limited. I mean you bring up Big Sean, who is essentially exaclty what Wayne is now becoming (punchlines with recycled material) as “bringing something new”?? Big Sean has a nice flow and delivery too, which is what makes him relevant. Same goes for Wayne at this point and time. If C4 follows in a similar vein and is a big let down, then I’ll start singing that swan song. But judging where he stands off of a recent mixtape or EP isn’t really a good look. He is definitely not the same as he was back then, and frankly never will be. He was hungry back then, had a point to prove. He took over the game and essentially proved that point. Now he needs to deliver on an album to prove another point. So I’m just waiting to see if he can or not.

Big Sean-yeah it’s punchlines but as of now his punchlines are funnier, wittier and his lines/delivery aren’t played out (at least in my opinion) I don’t know if he’ll last, but he’s my favorite mainstream rapper right now.

It’s nice to have a real debate on here.

@red haha yea not every c-sectioner is a kid who will get pissy just cause his opinion is different. But yeah Jay is versatile, but he isn’t doing anything NEW. Same with Mac, those lanes are established. Posner was refreshing to me back in the Brain Trust and One Foot Out The Door days, but his album sucked. Now he has gone MIA. CuDi ruined emo hop. He shot his career in the foot IMO. Great on hooks, but that’s it for me. If I want “emo hop” I’ll listen to Slug. And yeah I like Sean too but he won’t last unless he reinvents himself. I see him as a flavor of the month type deal, he’ll be hot for a bit but will sizzle out quick. I mean, he already recycles PLENTY. I was getting at them not really bringing something NEW. They’re all new or semi-new (besides Jay obviously) but I don’t see them pushing any envelopes or blazing any trails, you know? My favorite out of the new schoolers is Kendrick, I can see him making a niche and a nice lil career. I hope so, at least.

I think his point tho was that Wayne got kinda stale and these guys are chipping away at his fan base. They might not be blazing any trails, but they each provide a change of pace at a time when people are looking for something new.
