As you’re aware, Jay held an extremely private listening session for his talked-about project with Kanye West, set to drop within the next few weeks or so, last night for members of the musical press. While many of them provided their own thoughts via various outlets, GQ editor Sean Fennessey’s account had the best read in my opinion.
“Otis,” one of the most purely soulful songs the two have ever made together, features a pounding sample of Otis Redding’s “Try a Little Tenderness” up front. A clear standout and the first one I wanted to hear again.

I would’ve went a round with Tyson in his prime to be in that room.

Sadly, one of the homies from The Fader couldn’t even obey the “No Live-Tweeting Rule” and he was put out. Why would you even risk that? I would have had no problem adhering to that rule, because you got to write about it once the session was over.
I bet the experience was jaw-dropping for the contest winners. Something they get to tell their peers.
Awesome shit.
As for the album. I’m just going to try and sit back all the way in my seat. But the writers, especially dude from GQ, have penned that this is amazingly compelling.
Can’t wait.

However you look at this album you gotta know that outta 11 songs something on it is gonna be amazing. Jay and Kanye are game changers so their whole focus is giving the music new direction and both their last albums are proof of that with songs like Power and So Appalled and Jays DOA and On to the next one. HAM was like the Diamonds from Sierra Leone remix on steroids. Watch The Throne is gonna be DOPE !!!

Okay, if this album is gonna drop in less than 3 weeks, where is the next single or video?
You have people like Common dropping songs damn near 6 months before the album is scheduled for release. I’m aware they basically did that with H.A.M, but that was just to test the waters since it is
apparently is being left on the cutting room floor.

Hope this album lives up to the hype, unlike one album didn’t for me
*HINT HINT*
Kanye’s last album
Anyways, I know that Ye delivered with the dope beats, hopefully, and Jay somewhat will probably deliver lyrically. I heard that they go back and forth on one song with is troubling. Jay has lyrics but Kanye is a hit and miss. Most of his songs are crap lyrically, but at other times he can be dope with it when he choses. That has me wondering…
Although I had my doubts with H.A.M., I honestly wouldn’t be surprised it this turned out to be a 4.4 or, surprising still, a CLASSIC! But I’ll have to wait and see…

Don’t get too hyped people. A very few select people were allowed to listen, you think they’re gonna have ANYTHING bad to say at all? It’s marketing. I’m eagerly anticipating this album too, but I’ll wait to hear it all for myself.

w.e we’re all gonna leak it before we buy it anyways haha, so i could care less what anybody besides myself thinks of the album. There is not even an official track list revealed yet.

this album will suck, just like HAM. These dudes aren’t artists anymore, they are STARS surrounded by other STARS and yes men. When you bring designers and Russ Crowe and other random ass people into your recording sessions, you’re admitting you don’t give a shit about the music anymore. It’s been obvious with Jay for years now – and its why he went from GOAT to maybe in the discussion….but not really
mike said this on July 8th, 2011 at 7:21 pm
jay not even sure if ham would be on the album. people based it on ham, i digress. lift off gon drop next week, beyonce the highlight tho.

There’s a member of Odd Future Wolf Gang involved.
