During the second portion of J. Cole’s sit down with Rap-Up, Cole reveals that he’s gonna keep the Cole World name as a series for future albums. He then goes on to reveal that No I.D., Danja, Brian Kidd and himself will be handling production, Trey Songz is featured on a “fun” song and that he’s still waiting for a Jay-Z verse (but the record is done atleast).

Hip Hop, Video

getting ready to see the same hating ass comments as Sunday video.
Get over it bitches Cole World 9-27
he say he got in the stu with Stargate??? And he ain’t usin that as a single? SMH. That shit couldve make him more mainstream as he wants. I hope the No ID productions are better than the ones on Big Sean album. And that Trey Songz feature comin’ on a fucked up timing cuz Trey just got that track with Lupe which alotta girls bump. So I’m wonderin how Cole gon’ work dis out yo. real talk,
^ Lol I know right? I’m not even mad at the Trey feature though. I was when I first found out a couple months ago, but he usually does hooks pretty well (‘Sucessful’ anyone?). I am gonna wait to hear what it sounds like before I make any judgements, which I’m sure 80% of the comments on this video are going to shit on Cole for having Trey in his album.
I was refering to @Zany_Zurch not the other dude
Prof. Oak, its sad and your right, he makes good hooks, but “Ohhhhh he has trey, lets shit on it” sad thing
SO THE PHARRELL AND B.O.B. TRACKS ARE NOT ON THE ALBUM?
DANJA TRACK IS SUPPOSE TO BE A VERY BIG RECORD? GRAMMY NOMINATIONS? BUT THE MOMENT IS RUINED? THAT’S NOT AN EXCUSE?
TREY SONGZ IS ON THE ALBUM? DIDN’T LUPE AND DRAKE ALREADY GET A HOOK FROM TREY?
AND NO I.D. IS ON THE ALBUM… BIG SEAN, ANYONE?
SO THIS IS CHANGING THE GAME, RIGHT? THIS SOUNDS LIKE AN ALBUM YOU NEVER HEARD BEFORE, RIGHT? THIS IS THE CLASSIC YOU’VE BEEN WAITING ON, RIGHT? 9/27… RIGHT?
NO HATE. JUST ASKING QUESTIONS.
^^ the only thing is, you’re questions are retarded.
so big sean has no i.d. on the album, that means no one else can? i.d. been around forever.
trey’s done hooks for ALOT more artists than just lupe and drake as well.
yo Shake, what are you’re thoughts on Cole and his upcoming album?
SHAKE, FIRST OFF, THEY ARE STUPID QUESTIONS.
RHETORICAL FOR YOU NAME-CALLING PERSONA.
IT IS MEANT TO MAKE YOU THINK, WHICH OBVIOUSLY YOU CAN DO.
BUT A “GAME-CHANGER” DOES NOT FOLLOW TRENDS, MORE LIKE SETS THEM.
SO PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME, SHAKE, HOW COLE IS CHANGING THE GAME?
@Dumbass
How the fuck is anybody supposed to answer specific questions about the progressiveness of an album when nobody’s heard any of it yet? smh… fools these days. Ask the same question after it drops and Im sure you’ll get a thousand answers.
All these basement-dwelling A&R wannabes that come out the woodwork when Cole is mentioned need to shut the fuck up.
Black Snow = screaming like a pussy, stop hating and support the album 9/27/11 Cole World!
Some of you are SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOW when he said the moment was kind of ruined for the ‘Grammy record’ he was talking about the ‘big’ one that already leaked. You know the one that the internets were going crazy over? Calling the second coming of Brenda’s Got A Baby? Yeah, that song. lol
^Keisha’s Song?
YOU ALL ARE THE ONES CLAIMING THIS GONNA BE A CLASSIC OR GREAT.
SO, I ASK HOW. BUT THEN, I GET NAME CALLING WITHOUT ANSWERS.
THEY SAY IM HATER, A BASEMENT DWELLING A&R WANNABE, OR SOMETHING ELSE. BUT NO ONE WANTS TO ANSWER THE QUESTION, YET YOU ALL WANT TO PROGNOSTICATE.
SAVE YOUR BREATH. 9/27 IS COMING SOON ENOUGH. PLENTY OF TIME FOR YOU ALL TO MAKE EXCUSES FOR WHY IT DOES NOT PAN OUT TO YOUR LEVEL OF EXPECTATIONS AND COLE’S.
BUT WHAT DO I KNOW, RIGHT?
lmao @rezo but I doubt that J. Cole will pull a Wiz Khalifa.. The album is in good hands just wait before you hate..
@BLACK SNOW well i wouldn’t look too much into that… i think cole is just mixing it up a little bit… the 3 or 4 producers he’s working with, he probably co-produced whatever they made for the album… mind you, he has 15-16 tracks for the album… and only 3 or 4 songs not produced by him… he wanted to use his own production for his own album from the start… the album will still have its own sound and bring something new to the table… and could still “change the game”, that of course depends on how it is marketed once it drops… cole is just adding those touches to it so that people (like the ones from that conspiracy video) aren’t complaining about cole having the same sound throughout his album and him needing big name producers to enhance his sound (which I think is nonsense to say, my opinion though)… i think cole’s production is dope
^no, I think by now, we’ve all been enlightened as to exactly how much (or how little) you know.
this nigga gay
COLE’S PRODUCTION IS STREAKY LIKE JOHN STARKS. HE HAS SHOWN A HISTORY OF HITS AND MISSES, FROM LIGHTS PLEASE, TO WHO DAT, TO WORK OUT.
BUT THE REBUTTAL WILL BE DISREGARD THAT TILL YOU HEAR THE ALBUM. AND I AM FINE WITH THAT.
COLE DOESN’T NEED BIG NAME PRODUCERS, HE NEEDS SOMEONE WHO PRODUCES TO TELL HIM WHAT IS WORKING OR MAY NOT WORK. SOMEONE LIKE A MENTOR. HIS BEAT PROGRESSIONS ARE STAGNANT AT TIMES, MEANING THEY ARE OVERLY REPETITIVE AND BASIC.
HAVING AN ALBUM THAT IS MAJORITY PRODUCED BY YOU IS SOMETHING YE DID. AND KRIT DOES IT BETTER THAN COLE IN MY OPINION. SO THAT IS NOT GAME-CHANGING.
AGAIN, I ASK, HOW IS HE CHANGING THE GAME?
Lol Trey Songs why have dat fag on ur record
@BLACKSNOW I guess your mad J. Cole is the first artist signed to Roc Nation dropping a album. You wanted that willow album first? huh?
you can have the same producers as someone else and still put out a completely different album. cole’s content is obviously different than a big sean so the comparison makes no sense.
were making j.cole so great before he proves anything just like lebron james j.cole mixtapes=lebron highschool so great were expecting so much at the next level thats hes going to fail no matter what
“COLE DOESN’T NEED BIG NAME PRODUCERS, HE NEEDS SOMEONE WHO PRODUCES TO TELL HIM WHAT IS WORKING OR MAY NOT WORK. SOMEONE LIKE A MENTOR.”
… You do realize No I.D. (the same guy u were hating on being on the album) has been mentoring J. Cole for like 2 years now? Don’t look now but your ignorance is showing.
@BLACK SNOW i don’t think “changing the game” is really the right term to use anyway… i think he’s more so just helping it evolve the right way… (if promoted the right way, thats a big if)… cole is taking hip hop in the direction that it should of went in 10 years ago… its like the past decade never happened in cole’s mind, because he seems to of not of been effected by the trash of this past generation… people just get thrown off when he’s makes songs like workout to fit in with the trash… he’s more a breath of fresh air… you hear that being thrown out there with a lot of artists, but i think cole is the first one in awhile that has a legit shot at making an impact on the culture… that’s why people go as far to say that he will change the game
I think the title is perfect for the album because after it FLOPS Cole will be on the sideline waiting to get in the game again. haha
Anyone who thinks this album is going to sell real well is a sheep and unrealistic. He has no hit records and his fan base overall is not large. He signed a 1 album deal with Rocnation and I will guarantee Jay drops him after this album flops. As one source in Rocnation put it “Jay didn’t sign Cole because he thought he was that ill, he signed Cole so nobody else could”. Jay is a businessman and right now Cole isn’t bringing in profits for Jay. Jay makes money off of Cole selling singles and albums. Nobody is buying that Work Out bullshit on iTunes and if his album sells over 75k his first week I will shave my head and get a Birdman tattoo. Now you little nutsucking fans can call me hater like usual because god forbid someone try to be REAL without sucking Coles dick…smh
@Rezo
If Jay signed Cole so that nobody else could have him, and he only cares about album sales, then why did he sign Jay Electronica? Because pretty much no matter what Jay Elect does or who ended up signing with, dude was never gonna sell a lot.
I HEAR WHAT YOU SAY, THE FACTZ. AND I RESPECT IT.
AS FAR AS THE NO I.D. BEING A MENTOR FOR TWO YEARS, THAT IS NICE. BUT IM NOT SURE IF HE IS LISTENING TO NO I.D. ENOUGH IF HE IS DROPPING HIS RECORDS THE WAY THE HE HAS AND WITH SUCH LACKLUSTER QUALITY AT TIMES.
AND I AGREE WITH THE LEBRON COMPARISON SOMEWHAT. I DO NOT THINK COLE IS THE LEBRON OF THE GAME. BUT THE EXCESSIVE HYPE WITHOUT AN UNDENIABLE HIT RECORD IS WHY I AM VERY SKEPTICAL. BUT THERE IS TIME. 9/27 IS COMING.
AND REZO, I AGREE WITH YOUR SENTIMENTS. I JUST DON’T SEE IT AT ALL. HE IS TRYING TO PLEASE EVERYONE, INSTEAD OF MAKING GOOD MUSIC. WORK OUT SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN RELEASED AS AN OFFICIAL SINGLE. IT’S NOT EVEN A PUMP IT UP RECORD (JOE BUDDEN REFERENCE). IRONICALLY, COLE MAY BE THE NEXT BUDDEN.
MOOD MUSIK PROTEGE, J. COLE. I CAN SEE IT NOW.
ARE YOU IN THAT MOOD YET?!!!!!!!!!!!!
people don’t buy albums anymore anyways , if he sells more than 100,000 in a week he should be happy , I don’t consider that a flop especially because you don’t see him on TV often and he just now starting to do this ” Cole summer ” YouTube blog he should’ve been doing months ago but time will test this album classics usually don’t sell until years later..
AND SHAKE, YOU ARE RIGHT. HE COULD DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT.
BUT IM A SKEPTIC. WHEN I HEAR IT AND IT IS LEGIT, THEN I WILL ADMIT I AM WRONG.
I AM NOT AFRAID OF BEING PROVEN WRONG. BUT THERE NEEDS TO BE PROOF.
^^^cole has a 360 deal so rocnation has been eating off his tours…how can u say he has no hits like his album is coming out tomorrow, still 2 more singles before the album drops
i think he’ll sell between 100-200k but its complete speculation because its way too early
@BLACK SNOW yeah i’ve always used that joe budden comparison with cole as well… and even more ironic, both of their mainstream careers were in the hands of jay-z… you saw what jay-z did with budden, cole easily fall victim of same fate… and the reason why jay picked up cole and electronica is so that nobody else with money could invest in them and get them to blow up… jay-z is going to prevent that, for both of them… if cole’s album doesn’t sell, it will be completely jay-z’s fault, period
@RAPTORFAN
DID HE NOT JUST DROP WORK OUT? A TRASH RECORD FOR HIS FIRST OFFICIAL SINGLE.
WHAT’S ON YA BISCUIT, MATE?
A HIT IS UNDENIABLE. AND 360 DEAL IS A JOKE. AN ARTIST WITH A 360 DEAL IS GETTING FINANCIALLY RAPED. I KNOW THAT FOR A FACT.
BUT I DO AGREE WITH YOU THAT IT IS TOO EARLY.
lol im kinda hoping it hits 75k just to see Rezo get a birdman tattoo
But real talk, he’s not really getting the type of promotion at Roc nation that he needs to sell well. i mean theres still the whole summer before we see what happens, but as it is now, he’s not very big outside of the blog universe. (I know he’s touring w/ Rihanna and has a decent buzz, but decent =/= crazy/amazing) And unless he puts out or is featured on a single as big as black and yellow its hard to see where these numbers are coming from.
As a fan, im definitely hoping that he puts out something crazy over the summer that will increase his fanbase. I want a great album from Cole this september, and even more than that I want to see it do well
I’m Tire of hearing about J Cole just wait for the second Single and when The album drop and Then we all could talk but until then J Cole is only one that knows whats really going on right now.
Jay is use to dealing with Beyonce, Rihanna, Kanye, Willow, and now that Cher chick. He is use to artist selling TONS of albums and having hit singles. He won’t have any patience with Cole when it comes to the business side. Stargate came out a couple of months ago and said Jay even told them he needs a beat for Cole’s album. Now, Jay knows Cole is a producer so what does that tell you about Jay’s confidence in Cole? I think Jay sees exactly what anyone else who isn’t a sheep sees and that is Cole for the most part has some very average songs. For every Return of Simba there is 10 average/wack songs. To me Cole is just a mixtape rapper and I have reasons for that. Lyrically he is good, but he can’t write a hook to save his life. He doesn’t know how to change up his flow/style on songs without it sounding awkward, and he doesn’t have that ‘it’ factor to be a star. You can tell when people were destined for it and Cole doesn’t have that. I don’t find anything about him musically or personally that says he will be successful in the mainstream market.
can’t wait..for the album to come…
…Walmart giving back after laying off over 50,000 people.. http://goo.gl/rQD8D $1,000 giftcards – I grab 2 of Them..LOL
here goes the kid rockin’ the groucho marx mustache eyebrows. so wait a minute, A. Hole you’ve been tackling an album title for three years? and all you can come up with is a Cole World: series, like the way Star Wars films does it? GTFOH with that BS. you sure you didn’t come up with the concept the way Jay-Z has done it with the Blueprint series. this nigga is back to his interview tours and one thing about this nigga when he talks, he’s one uninteresting boring idiot. lol @ A. Hole talkin’ about the “moment being ruined”, just wait til your album leaks. A. HOLE YOU PAPOOSED YOURSELF!!!!
Was NYC/BROOKLYN right?only time will tell.
@factz , you keep putting Joe Budden in the same sentence with Jayz when Joe was never on the Roc and Jay was not at Def Jam when Joe was. So Jay did nothing to Joe because before they even met Joes album flopped and people forgot he existed. 2nd im tired of this J cole shit so let me just tell you what I think is gonna happen when his album comes out. J cole is gonna drop a album that gets slept on just like Saigon. The album will be lyrically good but the beats will be very sleepy like both Coles mixtapes were. Cole will drop singles but no one will care because they’ll be listening to C4 and Drakes singles for his album. Jayz has been waiting for years for Cole to get his album done but its been to long. So by the time Sideline comes out the Watch The Throne album will be out so the attention will be on the God MC himself and Kanye. Only thing that can save Cole from being slept on his if he drops nothing but fire on the entire album. Whoever said Cole doesnt have to change the game , just help it evolve. Well that means changing the game and if Coles album doesnt change the game then fans will look for other people who can. Thats how hip hop moves , the game changers get the attention the same- laners just get a mention.
I’m hype as fuck for his album! I like how 9-27 is already getting built up. I’m gonna drop at least 50 bones to get his album, K.R.I.T.’s, Phonte’s, 9th Wonders and Yelawolf’s. And I’m broke as a fuck. lol
Very clever.
SMH @ Black Snow & NYC/Brooklyn.
But, yeah. I think you guys are countin Cole out too early. None of you guys work for a record label, most of you have never done any musically involved in the first place, and the most important part (this may surprise you) none of you have HEARD THE DAMN ALBUM.. None of you, including me, knows what the future hold for J Cole, Drake’s album, or ANYTHING for that matter. He COULD blow up from that Wale joint. He COULD blow up from that Trey Songz single. Hell, he COULD blow up if the Work Out video gets on 106 & Park. But the future is murky and we don’t know what will happen, not even Cole or Jay themselves. So stop acting like you own a muh’fuckin crystal ball and tend to your own damned lives. Get a real job, because sitting in your grandmother’s basement trying to predict shit isn’t going to get you anywhere.
word, glad they asked that first question cuz thats what i was sayin as soon as he announced the title O_o
Work Out is currently the #48 song on itunes and #7 in hip hop… just sayin
