For the 3.5 years the dopehouse has been running I thought it was common knowledge that we adapted the name and slogan from (what I consider to be) the best hip hop duo ever, Outkast. Apparently that’s not the case as I came across this blasphemy on Twitter. Umm.. what? Not only that, but after my response, there were even more folks in the dark about the whole thing. Unbelievable! Now I get it, ATLiens is nearly 15 years old but c’mon. There really isn’t any excuse to not know your history. So for those folks on Twitter, and any other dopeboy/girl that checks the site on a daily basis that had no clue where we got the name. I give you track two off my favorite Kast album of all time.

This isn’t even an issue of old vs. young – I feel like anyone who came up in the nineties and early 2000s still knew their history, even if they weren’t fans of the music. If Jay or Nas referenced Kane or Rick, you knew where that was coming from, and you’d never be ignorant enough to say, “damn, how Kane rippin’ off Jay now?”

This is and always has been the reason I follow your blog. The second I saw a Kast quote at the top of your blog I knew the musical tastes would coincide. Outkast lyrics are the most quoted hip-hop lyrics, it’s important people know where they come from and give credit where credit is due.

Idlewild has some BANGERS on that album that’s why I put it above Stankonia. Mighty O is fire and many other joints on that album.
They gained a lot of momentum with Aquemini but Stankonia was their big pop charts album and its still amazing but also their worst release to date. If you never heard them before Stankonia then you came late.
Idlewild is criminally slept on and Stankonia is overrated out of their releases. No way is it in their top 3, their top 3 is their first 3!!!!! BWOIIIII!
