I went on to FB and kept seeing random chimes on how the awards were going. I haven’t watched BET in over 4 Years and that’s saying something in itself. BET constantly shoots themselves in the foot with just overall production quality. The sound was horrendous. Whatever happened to performers (rappers) knowing the words to their songs and not having to a clean version of the song to try to yell over? DJ Khaled, really? Really? Best things were Jill Scott’s performance, Tribute (especially Ledisi), and the intro with the kids. Not the stand-up routine.
Worst award show I have ever seen. I only saw a little, but shit looked like a Middle School Talent Show.
I come away with the same thought I’ve had all nite on Kelly Rowland. She wants the spotlight, fine. That’s all well and good. But if the rumors are true that she passed on going on tour with Beyonce, which more than likely included Glastonbury, and opted for the BET Awards, then she, her management and promoters are fucking morons. Glastonbury averages about 170-200K people, and shown on television. THATS the exposure she needs. Especially when she has a hit song right now. BET will always be there, but opportunities like that don’t always come along. Plus, she forced us to look at shirtless men, while she was basically covered up like a nun. SMH

What if a few blacks decided to become country singers and they were pretty much a hit! And then, after all of that, they weren’t even nominated for a CMT Award. Doesn’t that seem a bit supremacy like? Same thing with BET. For another example (this is one that supposedely has everyone “riled up” but to me I already knew this was gonna happen: Recovery. Yes, it is a hit or miss album. Yes, it is hated on by most of the hip hop heads. But the buzz and success that this album got in 2010 is just ridiculous! It introduced many young blacks to Em as an artist and helped him solidify himself as an artist again. Now, you would think that an album of this magnitude would get at least mentioned at these “awards”. But OF COURSE it doesn’t! Even when B.o.B, Drake, and Rick Ross (all artists that dropped songs or albums around June) are nominated.
If you would just take your heads out of the clouds, you would see that BET is not only asserting their role as supremacists, but also keeping a majority of the young black population ignorant to whats going around them. But no, you’re one of those people that still walk around with Walkmans and instantly believes anything the United States Government(s) says.

Em won best hip hop song on the BET soul train awards last year and Em has been nominated for awards for Recovery from BET but MTV and the Grammys filled is wall up with awards for years just because of numbers even though Jay is never to far behind but always has more impact and bigger songs. Em has performed Not Afraid , Airplanes , No love and his verse on Forever and Drop the world in 2010 on BET award shows and he was in the freestyle cypher so I dont think BET has anything against your hero Em. 106 n park for weeks was acting like recovery was the best shit out. So the way you paint BET isnt the case. You talk about what if scenarios about different forms of music when every year there are black entertainers that dont win shit but deserve to.
