Kendrick Lamar – Hol’Up (prod. Soundwave)

This is one of my favorite tracks off Section.80, and I have a feeling you’ll dig it too. July 2nd is the date, TDE is the squad. Props to Dave.

  19. what does section 80 mean? and what is in the pic up there

  20. Dope. I wonder when the artwork and tracklist is dropping.

Man I’m kinda bummed out that I’ll only hear the whole album/mixtape 9 days after it drops since I’ll be away.

  21. WOOOOOO!
Section80 gon be the best album all year.

  22. if he fucks her in front of the passengers they’ll think he’s a terrorist? what??

  25. K didn’t like this guy at first but dudes legit man. cool song.

  26. This shit is dope as hell. Beat is extra nice.

By the way, is Section80 going to be free?? Just wondering out of curiosity. If not, I need to get me some money real quick.

  27. lol he’s going back to that old k.dot delivery a lil mix of the new and old i like it tho

  28. Ehh, this ain’t really doin it for me. The beat isn’t my kinda thing while the chorus is boring and doesn’t feel like it meshes well. After some amazing tracks like Regan Era and Hiiipower this was a little disappointing for me.

  29. Nice. First Grindin from Dom, then Pot Ash from Coss, now this, been a “smooth” 2 weeks for the westside…Very nice! beat is butter on toast..this will be in rotation for awhile…looking forward to section 80.

  30. big ass condom

  31. Ehh…not gonna listen to it nor download. And here’s why: I don’t want to ruin the experience of the album.

    @Shake & Meka

On a 1-10 scale, what’s your rating of the album?

  32. CLICK MY NAME to download this track directly!! #Section80!

  33. ^^^

Co-sign, I want the album to be fresh to me.. Kendrick is outhustling J.Cole right now..

  34. This is doper than 99% of the shit posted on this website!

  35. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZAyu_hhrJXE

  36. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZAyu_hhrJXE…I dare you to tell me I’m wrong.

  37. @The Realest.. your wrong.. that sounds like an exact copy of Termanology… fail

  38. http://hulkshare.com/luzt8mpmxk68

Filename: kendrick lamar – hol up.mp3
    -
Digital crack vol 29 out now

  39. future oh hip hop j.cole/drake/big sean/wiz khalifa/kendrick lamar/wale/mac miller not in any order

  40. more boring then his other classics not as hard but aight lyrics iguess

  41. Kendrick is outhustling J.Cole right now..”"
    umm in terms of hustling
rick rosss is out hustling been out hustling jcole, so thats to show u how good jcole is huslting lmao

  42. #SECTION80 will NOT be FREE . ur gonna have to cop it on iTunes or wherever . its probably gonna be the same price as O.D. or Soul’s LTM .

let the teenagers and broke ass adults start complaining .

  43. “let the teenagers and broke ass adults start complaining .”
and start downloading before u can get it lol

  44. songs aight, doesnt get me crunk or high , probably a filler on his album, i liked sex on society much better compared to this

  45. @opp honestly only cole and kendrick of that list should be considered the future of hip hop.. really mac miller?

  46. Yo this that smooth shit right here from Kendrick Im copping the album when it drops mos def all u muthafuckas with yo bitchy comments can go play in traffic…WESTCOAST!!

  47. yo wat happened to the other cover art? that looked dope compared to this one…

  48. @ source – the only name you got right as far as the future of hip hop is Kendrick Lamar. And that has nothing to do with d-riding which I’m sure will be the knee jerk response to that statement. Based on the mixtapes/albums/features, the consistency (or lack there of) is clear & easily seperates the field.

The worst 90′s rapper > Wiz Khalifa & Big Sean. I mean if they didn’t have beats where would they be? I guess if you’re on some high school dropout intellect level they’re dope but otherwise nah nah nah.

The Warm Up was OK at best. Did you hear J.Cole’s Paula Abdul single?

Wale started promising but then buried himself on Rick Ross’ bench

Wheelchair Drake is a confused R&B singer who is subject-matter challenged.

    Mac Miller?

Feel free to state your case.

  49. @BrushPipe how did you do that?

  50. songs lil dull and slow for me, but more importantly how the hell u rip sound cloud songs like that never seen that method of using its own links…???

  51. damn july 2nd thats too close I’m broke. haha

  52. Got Damn The Best Rapper Out…….I Put That On Everything, Fuck Everyone Else Out Right Now K-Dot Shits On Them! #Section80

  53. YES!!! i thought i was trippin when i saw this. July 2nd, cant fucking wait

  54. i’m pretty sure Kendrick can’t drop a wack song. With this coming out a week after Dom Kennedy’s mixtape, the west is in good hands.

If you want to catch up on everything Kendrick Lamar before Section80 drops, check my blog (the name)

  55. Bruh Meka say the same thing every time he post a song from this album lol. “Ey kick her out the studio Ali” lmao i hope that aint really happen smh too funny

  56. The cover art is dope as hell too by far my most anticipated project…anyone have a track list for this yet?

  57. am i the only one who thinks kendrick lamar got some of the weakest hooks out … i know i cant b …

  58. @LupeFaco you look at the page source, and find the code. I don’t know why but it’s always easy for me to find in a jumble mess of letters & numbers.

  59. Wow… what a breathe of fresh air. This shit got me feelin good today

  60. i try to fucks with this dude kendrick, but i just cant…ill still get section 80 but most of his songs are just mediocre to me

  61. ^y would u cop the album then? u sound like ah fuckin idiot

  62. How anyone can call hot verses over hot beats mediocre is beyond me. I think cole world, section 80 and take care will all be dope in different ways. Yes i said take care, drake is emo rap but he does it well and dreams money can buy and marvins room have got me anticipating that record. …. be happy for diversity in hip hop, if you dont like a paticular artist style than move on to the style you like, there is talent out there if you look hard enough.

  63. Like he said^^^^^the beats are straight fire

  64. here’s a mediafire link to the song.

    http://www.mediafire.com/?3cq2tl1cf333uoa

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkt5TsmqpD8

  68. Holy shit… Kendrick’s verse on “Hood Gone Love It” by Jay Rock… DAMN. Plus this shit coming out today right after that. Damn he’s going to be my favorite artist for years to come.

  69. my nigga this sound like Heaven, if Heaven had a soundtrack……..DOPE!

  70. THIS SHIT IS INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE IT….section80…CANNOT WAIT TO WORK WIT THIS NIGGA…WE GON CHANGE THE GAME!!!!!!!!!

  71. Kendrick is killin’ it right now!! Mari Steelz got next!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qVLWJZEdNk&feature=share

  72. kendrick is dope, BUT do the c-section think he is one of the illest lyricist?

  73. man dude is cool i dont see what the big deal about him is though this group better http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jq1K_QJi6TY

  74. @marty where you at??? new track yo!! real hip hop!
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zgGXuwQMzeQ

  75. I haven’t had the chance to listen to Kendricks full discography, but from I have heard, I fuckin love “HiiiPower,” “Ronald Reagan Era (w/ The RZA)” and this song.

You guys know/would recommend any other dope mixtapes/albums that sound like these songs i mentioned?

  76. kendrick is dope and a fantastic lyricist, only see bro gettin better. do it K.
    keepin hip hop dope

  77. BIG FAN. BUT IF THIS IS IS A FAV THAT CANNOT BE A GOOD SIGN.

  78. @MostUniqueRegular

    Very DOPE !!!

  79. @T_Vizzy As far as Kendrick Lamar goes, none of his stuff really sounds like what is on Section80. If people were to recommend Kendrick’s best project though, we would all say O(verly) D(edicated).

  80. Appreciate it my dude @Uncle Ruckus’ Nephew

I’ll def give it a DL and thorough listen

  81. dude is good but i wish everybody would stop with the comparisons and sayin who he is better than. he’s nice with his rhyming but corny at times. it all depends on the listener. P.S. this song is cool but that Jay Rock shit whack

  82. This song is so whack compared to everything else he dropped.the lyrics is so dumb in this song.
If I fuck in front of passengers thy gon thnk ima terrorist?
    Wtf smh
Kendrick is dope but this is jus extra space not worth being on the tape

  83. @dave lol why so serious? Its just a fun, chill song and youre over here being over-critical..not everythings gotta be lyrical intelligent and revolutionary smh

  84. this song is horrible

  85. @marty thanks man!! u got a youtube account so i can add you on there??

  86. Kendrick Lamar is shitting.

  87. Nah I dont but keep doing ya thing though , that kind of production style is a good fit for you. You should mess around some more with those kind of beats. Peace

  88. @marty thanks man i think so too…my mixtape will have more soul sampled beats ill link it when its complete yo!

  89. Here’s a breakdown of his lyrics and meanings behind them
    Verse 1
    I wrote this record while
30 thousand feet in the air Stewardess complimenting me on my nappy hair (meaning: Kendrick implies that his lifestyle includes lots of early morning flights with the 30 thousand feet line and the complimenting nappy hair line)
If I can fuck her in front of all of these passengers (meaning: laboratory occupied)
    They’ll probably think I’m a terrorist (meaning: a beanie > turbin)
Eat my asparagus (meaning: they serve asparagus on the plane; hes moving up in the world), then I’m asking her
Thoughts of a young nigga Fast money and freedom A crash dummy for diamonds, I know you dyin’ to meet ‘em (meaning: Kendrick flirting with the girl, talking about life and flossin. He knows she wants to chill, because shes wants some diamonds)
    I’ll prob’ly die in a minute
Just bury me with 20 bitches (meaning: less than 72 virgins, a muslim terriost reference?)20 million, and a Comptown fitted
    Verse 2
Back in this bitch in the back of that bitch With my back against the wall
And your bitch on the edge of my dick
Jump off (meaning:when he says “back in this bitch” he means hes having sex again with the same girl and hes having sex with her doggy style. in the next line he changes positions and hes on a wall with her being on the tip of his dick then he pushes her off)
    I call a bitch a bitch
A ho a ho, a woman a woman (meaning: he calls it like he sees it)
I never did nothing but break
The ground on top of the asphalt (meaning: conceited about how powerful his skills are)
Tire mark gave you evidence that
I’m easily peddling with the speed of a lightning bolt
As a kid I killed two adults, I’m too advanced I lived my 20′s at two years old, the wiser man Truth be told, I’m like 87 (meaning: When he burns out you know he doesnt give a shit about the speed limits or stunting fines. Killing adults as a kid makes him ahead in the game. He was dealing with life problems as a child, he will tell you whats up. He acts like an old geezer / meaning 2: he was born in 87 plus, also this is reference to 22 two’s by Jay-Z)
Wicked as 80 reverends in a pool
Of fire with devils holding hands
    From the distance, don’t know
Which one is a Christian.. damn
Who can I trust in 2012? There’s no one
Not even myself, a Gemini screaming for help, somebody (meaning: Not only does he act mature for his age, hes as wicked as throwing christains and devils in a pool of fire. From down the block you wouldnt be able to tell the difference between the christian and devil. Now that its 2012 you cant even trust yourself. people need to stay focused. He feels because of all the crazy wickedness he screams for help hopeing someone will hear. Its as tho nobody is around)
    Verse 3

24/7 nigga, workin’ his ass for it, she poppin’ that ass for it (meaning: he works all day long to have what he has, money, respect, ect. and the girl is showing off her ass for his money which in sense is how she works)
The King of Diamonds wit’ diamonds I never do ask for They checkin’ my passport, I’m too accustomed with Customs
She call in the task force, I killed it, somebody cuff ‘im They want me to fast-forward the game, and why you complain When you niggas is past poor, you’ll never hop in my lane
When you pushin’ a RAV4, you wreckin’ my Jaguar (meaning: hes superior like jaguar > Rav4) You play like a bad sport, her feet on the dashboard

Well thats what i gather from listening to this record 3 times over. Cant wait for section 80!

  90. Yo! @TheMostUniqueRegularDude aka Age dats a good song you got there. Production is nice but just that cos chopped soul-sample arrangement been heard many times before, ya agree right?

Lyrically it was quite good. First verse was kinda iffy but rhymes patterns and verbiage got stronger and better with second verse onwards. Keep it up!

    3/5
