First off , a label cant make a real nigga do shit and plus Jayz has always said to never chase radio thats why all the 1st singles for his projects are never tailored to radio but they end up there because there just good. Cole put that single out because it was his choice and it really wasnt bad it just wasnt really that good. @Thefactz maybe thats what happend but I think the label wanted a bigger demographic then what Shinning down would generate. Then Beamin came out but it didnt really get a response from the streets ( for whatever reason , not blaming nobody ). Then he dropped SLR and people slept on it , then he dropped Go to Sleep trying to express that hes still lyrical and F&L 2 was still on the table but the fans slept on that too. So then I THINK the label said ok Lu will give you one chance to do it your way , so he put out Words I never Said and still people probably downloaded but didnt buy it. So he saw that and went with Show Goes On which people did support. Now the album is his most successful album. So I think the label was just trying to tell Lupe to think bigger because he could go further , they just went about it wrong by disrespecting him. Say what you want about LASERS and other commercial songs but they do what there designed to do which is blow up. I dont always think that labels chase radio I think they just want songs that are good enough to play both in the streets and on radio. Just ask the people who sign and A&R albums for major labels because they go to the same parties you go to and would tell you themselves.

When Drake dropped his very fist single “You The Best” everybody was waiting a long time for the album. When Cole dropped Who Dat, Im on it and Blow up, he should of already had that album done because he was getting mad endorsements off them songs from radios and commercials.

Cole misrepresented himself on his first single ,Work Out, but I think he force himself to release it as a single because he know he played his cards wrong and he need more females to listen to his music. One thing I do know to be a fact is that artist have to make smart decisions and to be honest I dont think people should slam a artists for making commercial music that much because the alternative isnt that great. There is alot of artists that you will never hear about that are dead or in jail right now all because they refused to work ( reasonably compromise ) with the label they signed with and were dropped and ended up back in the streets trust me on that. I agree with Black Snow even though i’m not a hater I love j.cole. But all his music sound the same he needs to explore a lot more with the album if he wants it to be a classic. Having your album sound jus tliek friday night lights is a no no though some tracks from there stood out. such as love me not,too deep for the intro,enchanted, and home for the holidays which could make the album in my opinion because they are unique. He needs to realize this is 2011 you have to make your album different like how ye did with the fantasy album. hook up with bink or kanye or 9th wonder or pharrell or no id for beats or just blaze get that classic sound for your album i would be disappointed if cole world sounded like all his odl stuff. illmatic was different when it cam eout in 1994 paid in full was different when it cam eout low end theory was different shit food & liquor was different and blueprint and college dropout they were different.

OK, so Paula Abdul took it to twitter to announce the title and release date for his album. I was expecting a press conference with fireworks display in the background. I guess with the embarrassment of the “work out” single, he wanted to divert the attention and have his fans believe last week never happened with the release of “work out”. Dude has talent but let’s not crown him as the second coming. He really has yet to find a definitive voice yet. He goes from one persona to the next, which is human nature. Right now he’s above average in a lot of different aspects but not excellent. I’m not judging the man but commenting on his art.

He’s not in the category of Blu or Lupe, so get that out of your head.

His production is ok, but others are taking it way farther.

He aint gonna be able to tell too many street tales, so he needs to find another route.

K.R.I.T. and Kendrick Lamar have the energy to ignite a crowd.

All in all, the guy is talented. Whether he becomes a great, is a different story.

You make some good points cause sometimes people forget that this generation of youngstas comin up did not grow up on Nas or Jayz or 2pac , so for them J cole is like a new experience for them musically. Cole is overrated but so what everyone over hypes someone there a fan of , even some of the ledgends are overrated. Rather see cole getting hype then alot of dudes that are signed.
