That’s right folks. Cole took to Twitter to announce the title (and release date) for his debut album.
Cole World: The Sideline Story, September 27th.

That’s right folks. Cole took to Twitter to announce the title (and release date) for his debut album.
Cole World: The Sideline Story, September 27th.
Now whether this stays the same due to the almost-guaranteed leak, we shall see
He’s droppin an album on my birthday (and Lil Wayne’s)? Interesting….hopefully it’s good. I wasn’t a fan of his Friday Night Lights tape but I appreciate him attempting to bring lyricism to the table.

HE THE DREW GOODEN OF RAP. AND TELL OMEN STOP STEALING MY SHIT.
NIGGAS FUCKIN WACK.
AND YA LABEL FUCKED UP WITH WORK OUT. NIGGA THAT SHIT WILL NOT GO COPPER. MORE LIKE COPPERFIELD… SHIT WILL DISAPPEAR QUICK.
ANOTHER WHO DAT TRACK.
I GOT A FUNNY FEELING OF DEJA VU COLE.
YOU CAN THANK ME LATER.
Cole World Population = Stans/Faggots
Look like he haven’t papposed himself Lol, shout out to the haters COLE mutha Fuckin WOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRLLLLLLLDDDDDDD.
if this happens, I’ll def listen..I was vouchin for Cole at work today, but I’ve never been a big fan of his music, just his lyricism..we’ll see tho
All that wait for the album title and he just called it Cole World?
Why didn’t he announce that last year when he had a buzz?
Album will be dope. Cole World. Fuck the haters.
i dont understand the people who don’t think he’s good.. best story teller out, one of the best punchline rappers out, his ability to do hooks and keep fans entertained is great.. even his production is pretty damn good. there’s something wrong if you dont recognize his potential to be one of the greatest
fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck yea about time and who gives a fuck if its little ugly ass waynes birthday when he drops it COLE FUCKEN WORLD
After hearing his “single” I really don’t even care that much. That really ruined it for me. I am also getting tired of him ATTEMPTING to sing on every song, you’re a rapper homie, get a singer to do your hooks.
POTENTIAL DONT MEAN SHIT
BIG KRIT IS WAY BETTER THAN THIS NIGGA
SO IS DRAKE, AND THE REST OF THIS CLASS
FUCK OUTTA HERE WITH THAT POTENTIAL BULLSHIT
NIGGA IS GARBAGE AT STORYTELLING COMPARED TO KENDRICK AND KRIT, FUCK DRAKE GOT THIS NIGGA BEAT.
you can read what to expect from the album here http://wp.me/p1zXlg-5a
@PhrayzerMusic
the reason a lot of people say hes not good, is because he trys to do something that others have perfected. Joe Budden is one who brings real life to music. I dont need some kid my age telling me about hard-times and livin life.
so we were waiting on an album title that we already said it was going to be, and he said it wasn’t going to be
cole world, album push back
work out will flop smh
Can’t Wait! Until them I got Cole mixtapes holding me down
http://www.dopebox.net/index.php?event=search&txt=j.%20cole
You know this is gonna be a classic.
Thank you Shawn Carter for finally letting this album see the light of day. Push backs will occur for sure. It’s good to come out in October.
Damn, seems like haters never take a night off.
Cole World no more no title jokes
Going to be a classic 9/27
and cosign phrayzermusic
HOW IS THIS SHIT A CLASSIC ALREADY?
LOST ONES = 8/10
CHEER UP = 8/10
WORK OUT = 6/10
FUCK OUTTA HERE WITH THAT CLASSIC BULL SHIT.
Lol, when did his buzz die down? Just because the bandwagoners on 2DBz have moved on to Kendrick Lamar? If you haven’t noticed, they do that every year: Drake, Wiz Khalifa, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, etc. Then, when the dude finally makes it they turn on him. If Kendrick Lamar ever blows up I bet you’re gonna say the same fucking thing.
http://theeastsideperspective.wordpress.com/
inb4 NYC/BROOKLYN shitstorm
and what does “the sideline story” mean? anyways, j. cole, kendrick, drake and krit all have their own thing. they’re all fucking dope. comparisons aren’t valid with em, so stop fucking TRYING to compare em so hard. they’re the future, any way you slice it.
@Prof. Oak
doubt it Lamar is talented.
The hell with that 8/10 rating for Lost Ones. It’s a clear 10/10. Classic joint with there…
@Prof. Oak
If Kendrick changes his style and his formula (dope lyrics over dope beats) then I’ll abandon him. I’m not saying J. Cole has changed his formula, it’s just that he hasn’t dropped heat in a while (well, before Return of Simba anyways).
Drake and Wiz can’t be compared to J. Cole & Kendrick. Wiz has ran out of ideas. Drake was mainstream from the start.
Lol, is BLACK SNOW, NYC/BROOKLYN?
THIS IS A 2 PART ALBUM.
PART 2 WILL BE OUT IN THE 4TH QUARTER.
ANYWAYS, COLE IS OVERRATED. HE KEEPS TRYING TO SING AND IT SOUNDS AWFUL.
@kidadonis, nah NYC loves the attention, he wouldn’t change his name.
let’s start placing bets now on the album push back date
And some people here on the comments in 2dopeboyz are on some bullshit. Espcially when a artist starts getting exposure…
And some people here on the comments in 2dopeboyz are on some bullshit. Especially when a artist starts getting exposure…
COLE IS ASS BACKWARDS.
YOU WENT FROM LIGHTS PLEASE.. TO HIGHER… TO IN THE MORNING… TO WORK OUT.
THAT IS ASS BACKWARDS.
LOST ONES IS A 8/10 BECAUSE HE SINGS THE HOOK AND THAT STUFF IS HOT GARBAGE.
SORRY FOR NOT BEING A FUCKING STAN.
AND CHEER UP IS THE SAME THING.
IM NOT HATING. IM JUST SAYING THIS DUDE HYPE DOES NOT MATCH HIS WORK.
HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS WAS BETTER THAN THIS TRASH.
Cole says 9/27? In music industry talk that means November. Oh and hasn’t he been saying all this “Cole Summer” bullshit? So 9/27 is Summer nigga? More like “Cole Fall” lol
I will be shocked if this album is released before October/November.
@BLACK SNOW you are spending alot of energy dissing some1 u think is wack…youre obviously not going to change anybody’s opinion of Cole so stop being so bitter, u seem jealous
You know this stuff will leak of course just like everything. I like that J.Cole represents a more lyricism style to the table. No one should call him king just yet tho. Lets see his body of work and if its worth buying. I hate when ppl just buy an album just because they like the guy. Buy it if its good music. and if its like some of the songs hes made in the past it will be good music.
all y’all gonna do when it drops is turn on him anyway just like y’all did drake and wiz khalifa so oh well COLE WORLD
WHO SAID I WANTED TO CHANGE MINDS.
IM NO JEDI, NOR AM I BARACK OBAMA.
IM HERE TO PROVE A POINT. COLE IS NOT THAT GOOD, BECAUSE HE’S INCONSISTENT.
BEST I EVER HAD >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> WORK OUT
IF YOU GONNA SELL OUT… MAKE SURE IT’S A FUCKING COLOSSAL HIT.
Yes, he is overrated, but damn step off the haterade bitches.. all you people do here is hate or stan the fuck outta these dudes..
.
I’m a big Cole fan btw and I’m happy for him that it’s finally out there..
Honestly if people are starting to hate Cole it means he is makin it. It’s just the natural circle. As far as Work Out i think he did the right choice he needs radioplay since he is on a major label and I can fuck with this song. IMO
Finally!! and it better not get pushed back
Niggas is haters J. cole is the hottest rapper out!!! who is better name one? But it is a cole world nigga NO BLANKET!!!!
so this album is coming out on columbia right? Not sure if he’ll even get the proper promotion and distribution from them. they might be setting up j. cole for failure. cuz if you know if an big artist like j. cole doesn’t sell on his debut, the people will call him a flop. without using any kind of common sense, no matter how good the music is.
Hey BLACK SNOW! How about you shut your bitch ass up?!?!!
T’REAL
KENDRICK LAMAR, DRAKE, KRIT AND MANY MORE ARE BETTER THAN COLE.
NIGGA IS ABOVE AVERAGE.
Drake is NOT better than cole keep him out of the list seriously..!
Cole is already getting plenty promotion he is doing like 2 interview every week just check his fansite. Dude is blowin the budget tbh. He has also been touring non stop, opened for Jay and Em, for Drake, for Rihanna, ESPN, and the list goes on. If dude fails that’s on his fault.
THE TRUTH IS LIKE KRYPTONITE TO NIGGAS.
NOT MY FAULT CALL IS A STREAKY RAPPER. THE JOHN STARKS OF RAP.
TELL THAT NIGGA, HE NEEDS TO WARM UP MORE.
^dont judge him based off leaks and throwaway tracks, his mixtapes have always been top notch, so expect nothing less than that from his album..
OKAY, WORK OUT IS OFFICIAL THOUGH.
AND THAT WAS WACK, EVEN FOR A CLUB/RADIO/MAINSTREAM SINGLE.
SO, YOUR IDEA OF A CLASSIC IS NOT HOLDING UP TOO WELL RIGHT NOW.
JUST SAYING.
I see what he was going for with the title but I agree that it is weak. He should’ve used dislike story as the name of his skits , if he has some on the album. However the album songs are gonna be amazing, he’s too talented. Potential to be classic, at the very least it’ll be great.
The album title is meh but for his fans sake I hope the album lives up to all the hype cause you could have potential and all the lyrical ability in the world but that doesnt always mean your gonna make something classic. The single I still wish was something else but I understand why he did what he did. Good luck to him and his album cause im just waiting for whats on deck next for Rocnation: Electronica !!!
ANYONE THAT’S JUDGING J. COLE FROM ONLY HEARING THE SONGS WORK OUT AND WHO DAT SHOULDN’T EVEN BE ALLOWED TO COMMENT ON ANYTHING TAGGED J. COLE JUST SAYING.
NIGGAS THAT CAN’T READ ALL MY COMMENTS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO LIVE.
JUST SAYING.
oh shit, thats a day after my b-day, i can fuck with that
Damn, a lotta haters out here! I don’t hate, I think he’s talented but in an awkward space.. like he’s not sure of what his style is. I hope the album is good, but I’m not hyped for it based on the leaks.
@H.LAZARUS thats kinda the problem… the single is suppose to introduce him to the masses so workout will be their first impression of j. cole… of course, every fan of hip hop by now should more then know what cole is capable of by now… but by making what is arguably j. cole’s worse song to date, the first song that introduces him to the world, is kinda setting him up for failure… because we know these so called fans treat artists nowadays… after that first impression, the people have already made up their minds about what they think about the artist… (i.e. Joe Budden – Pump It Up)
WELL SAID, THEFACTZ
WELL FUCKING SAID.
I SUPPORT AND CO-SIGN THAT SHIT.
Chamber of Echoes…Y’all realize u’ve ALL said the same thing..if u clicked on the J.Cole tag…and read THOSE comments…u wouldnt be able to tell the difference…The haters who WILL NOT go away…the dickriders who put him on an unattainable pedestal, therefore hurtin his career…and the smart ppl who just like music wit respectable opinions..
@THE KIDD
FUCK OUTTA HERE WITH THOSE GHETTO ASS CONFUCIUS SCRIBBLES.
FUCK YA OPINION, NIGGA. THE TRUTH WILL BURY THAT SHIT.
The Sideline Story?….. that is a perfect title lol cuz that nigga been on the sideline for 2-3 years. It’s a Cole World. Single was WACK tho.
I can stand by and let people say ‘Work Out’ is wack, but ‘Who Dat’ really isn’t that bad. Damn. When y’all say both are bad, it’s like you don’t like anything he’s going to release for radio play (although Work Out can stay off the radio if it wants…)
yeah, well i’m a big supporter of cole and i like what he’s doing. but you can tell that the single was forced. it wasn’t his choice to put this song out. the label clearly made cole do his single like that. i just think cole fans aren’t in the know enough. because if they were, anybody should of seen this coming and would of been a fool to think they were going to allow cole to put out a real hip hop song as a single.
Hey Black Snow, did J. Cole fuck your girlfriend or something? No one cares what your opinion of Cole vs. Kendrick vs. K.R.I.T. vs. Drake is, some people are hype for the album and that’s that. Stop responding to everyone’s comments like J. Cole beat your bitch pussy so bad that you felt it in your ass. If your opinion on what worked and didn’t work in the music industry mattered you’d be working at Sony, Atlantic, Colombia, etc. making these decisions, not spamming 2Dopeboyz comment sections on how and why Cole will flop.
@BLACK OUT u have proven not 1 thing, all youve done is stated opinions not facts..you obviously think your opinions are facts but the only fact is youre very passionate about posting negative comments and responding to every single comment
@REAL TALK
IF YOU ONLY KNEW, NIGGA.
BUT IM NOT HERE TO PROVE MY WORTH. I RESPECT COLE.
BUT HIS FANS IRK THE SHIT OUT OF ME, BECAUSE THEY FUCKIN SPITTIN SHIT LIKE HE’S THE GREATEST… WITHOUT A FUCKING ALBUM.
THAT’S NICE YOU THINK HE CAN BE GREAT.
BUT LET THE ALBUM DROP FIRST. AND FUCK OFF.
First off , a label cant make a real nigga do shit and plus Jayz has always said to never chase radio thats why all the 1st singles for his projects are never tailored to radio but they end up there because there just good. Cole put that single out because it was his choice and it really wasnt bad it just wasnt really that good. The type of single people wanted would not get any support thats why songs like Lost ones dont generate sales. There are millions of kids that dont know shit about J cole and who dont check hip hop sites and are way to young to understand complex lyrical messages. So his single was for them because the actually buy , just like the girls. A label cant make a real nigga do shit , even Lupe still kept it real as hell lyrically when he dropped his single. “I dont switch up I just laugh and put my feet up on they desk uneffected by they threats then get busy on they ass”.
This nigaa is already Papoose status,he’s WAAAAAAAAAAY too over hyped to deliver anything that would live up to the expectations he has now.that’s why he put out “Work Out”,a party track ,same way Papoose was puttin out party songs like “Paid a Grip” and “Bucked Naked” recently. This nigga has like 3 months to put out a single good enough to carry this album and there is no way that shit Is happening
Black Snow, Winter is coming. Its finally a coleworld.
If yall dont like him, Move on with your life. Let the dude do him. Dont hate and bring him down just because he doing himself and making HIS OWN music. c’mon son.
I can related to his music, dude knows how to rap and very good at storytelling with it.
…didnt he say the album AINT gunna be called Cole World? WTF… then he goes n calls it that anyways, LOL
taking the Kanye path? next album is going to be called Cole World: Starting Lineup
Cole World Niggas
@mcfly yeah, but lupe had to go hell and back to get atlantic to put out his album that was done for months! he had the real hip hop music that he does best ready and gave it to the label then they kept telling him to change it and throw some pop hooks on it… and to make it worse, lupe was already a proven artist who sold plenty records! so yeah, a label most def controls what you put out… but just because j. cole gives into it, doesn’t mean he ain’t a real nigga… i think he would be a fool to pass up an opportunity to go mainstream and put yourself in a position to make a mark on hip hop. but just do like joe budden put out your 1 single and get out… don’t make a career out of it and be like lil wayne, rick ross or some shyt… and yeah, you rite. real niggas don’t let a label do shyt… thats why theres cats like crooked i, tech n9ne, cassidy, talib kweli, etc… and look where they at… not in the mainstream… hmm i wonder why
please don’t fuck this up hov…Cole-World!
You guys don’t even fucking post SHABAZZ Palaces.
What the fuck 2dopeboyz
J. COLE IS JOHN STARKS.
PLAYS FOR A WINNING ORGANIZATION, BUT WILL NEVER SEE GLORY.
ON TOUR WITH RIHANNA & DRAKE MAKES YOU PUT OUT A SONG LIKE WORK OUT.
THIS NIGGA SOLD OUT FOR A RED DIAMOND NECKLACE AND SOME PAID BILLS.
I GOT MORE THAN THAT. AND I HAVEN’T EVEN SOLD OUT.
COLE, MY NIGGA THOUGH. JUST NEEDS TO SMARTEN UP.
who the fuck cares. dude blows dicks.
@Thefactz maybe thats what happend but I think the label wanted a bigger demographic then what Shinning down would generate. Then Beamin came out but it didnt really get a response from the streets ( for whatever reason , not blaming nobody ). Then he dropped SLR and people slept on it , then he dropped Go to Sleep trying to express that hes still lyrical and F&L 2 was still on the table but the fans slept on that too. So then I THINK the label said ok Lu will give you one chance to do it your way , so he put out Words I never Said and still people probably downloaded but didnt buy it. So he saw that and went with Show Goes On which people did support. Now the album is his most successful album. So I think the label was just trying to tell Lupe to think bigger because he could go further , they just went about it wrong by disrespecting him. Say what you want about LASERS and other commercial songs but they do what there designed to do which is blow up. I dont always think that labels chase radio I think they just want songs that are good enough to play both in the streets and on radio. Just ask the people who sign and A&R albums for major labels because they go to the same parties you go to and would tell you themselves.
@Blacksnow
you’ve now been posting on this thread for 4 hours straight. u state that ur not trying to hate and your only trying to educate ppl. the only thing anyone has learned from your posts is that your a low life who has nothing better to do that sit on his computer and bang on your keys all day. get a job or get a girl, shit, fuckin chump….and i realize your gonna respond to this but i dont have the time to bitch back and forth with u all nite bc i actually have a life. hype for the album btw
Cole World pave way for the chosen one…
@THATREALSHIT
I GET PAID FOR THIS.
WHAT’S YOUR EXCUSE?
HMMM… NO COMEBACKS. THAT’S BECAUSE U MAD, BRO.
NIGGAS WANNA HIT AND RUN.
BE A MAN AND DEBATE ME.
I HAVE A LIFE. JUST ON VACATION. IN A DIFFERENT TIME ZONE, MY NIGGA.
BE THAT!
2011 or 2012?
THANKS BASED GOD FOR J. COLE
@black snow
Really dude? You need to get a life. Or you can keep making a fool out of yourself on these boards..
Love the haters
@MIKE
YOU BEEN HERE ALL DAY.
FUCK IS THE POT CALLING THE KETTLE BLACK.
@black snow
hahah right, all day?
clever lines tho
Cole Worldddddd
Black Snow is the greatest hater of all time. lol Chappelle gotta present him the damn trophy.
Who goes on vacation and goes online to hate for four hours straight, what are you gay? Problem is all you got is straight stupid shit to say, you make yourself look bad.
PLEASE READ THIS : Im going Be Honest and this is straight FACTS, Cole made the same mistake like Drake. When Drake dropped his very fist single “You The Best” everybody was waiting a long time for the album. When Cole dropped Who Dat, Im on it and Blow up, he should of already had that album done because he was getting mad endorsements off them songs from radios and commercials.
Cole misrepresented himself on his first single ,Work Out, but I think he force himself to release it as a single because he know he played his cards wrong and he need more females to listen to his music. Drake’s “So Far Gone” Didn’t sound Nothing Like “Thank Me Later” and I think the Cole we all know now may sound different on the new album.
EXP OF SUCCESSFUL FIRST IMPRESSION, FIRST SINGLES:
Kanye West – Through the wire
50 Cent – Wangsta
Wiz Kahlifa – Black and Yellow
Eminem – My name Is
DMX – Where my dogs At
HOPEFULLY EVERYBODY GETS MY POINT
IF “WORK OUT” WAS THE FIRST TIME I EVER LISTEN TO COLE I WOULD NOT BE CONVINCE TO BUY THE ALBUM, “WHO DAT” WOULD OF DID A BETTER JOB.
Cole World!
@ThaTruth Completely agree with everything you said. Hyped for the album now btw. Finally we have a title. Just hope the album doesn’t get pushed back again smh
@Marty lol you’re way off…just pick up the XXL magazine issue that Lu covered several months ago, he explains it in detail..dont speculate and jump to conclusions
stop dick riding u fuckin fag… eat a dick.
@black snow
if you truly think this nigga is terrible then quit hatin and ignore all of his shit he puts out. Its exactly what i do with lil b, wayne, soulja boy etc… There is room for everyone in the game. Even the wack ass dudes who have no real lyrical skill or content in their music. I just hope he put some real shit on the album cause im not feelin workout.
@ThaTruth yeah pretty much the point i was trying to make above… which is why its safe to say that the label is setting up cole to fail… they want people to write him off as a legit mc and think of him as just another new pop rapper… i mean anyone at his label who knows anything about hip hop could not honestly think that workout would be a good first single to introduce people to cole… ironically, one of those people who im sure had some say in it was jay-z… we have all seen jay-z screw over other artists careers in the past… not saying he’s doing it with cole, just saying it wouldn’t surprise me if he was
@ Jonnielluminati , I know I could be wrong and thats cool with me because Lu told his side of the story but the label never told theirs but its all good. @ ThaTruth , I think your wrong about Best I ever Had being a bad choice for a single , it wasnt the best choice but it wasnt bad either. One thing I do know to be a fact is that artist have to make smart decisions and to be honest I dont think people should slam a artists for making commercial music that much because the alternative isnt that great. There is alot of artists that you will never hear about that are dead or in jail right now all because they refused to work ( reasonably compromise ) with the label they signed with and were dropped and ended up back in the streets trust me on that. Just saying , and again I dont think Jay would do shit to hurt J coles career because that would cause him to lose money and that not what he signed him for.
@Marty Mcfly, I’m pretty sure Lupe didn’t choose Show Goes On to be his single.
The game is about to change for the good on 9/27
its funny how niggas like black snow have time jus to hate
I WANNA APOLOGIZE TO EVERYBODY! I BEEN ON MY PERIOD LATELY AND HAVENT SUCKED A DICK IN A LONG TIME, FORGIVE ME! I’M JUST A WANABE 40 YEAR OLD RAPPER WITH PARKINSONS AND HEPATITIS B AND ANGRY THAT J. COLE ISN’T GIVING ME ANY ATTENTION! I’LL GO BACK TO MY 1/2 CARDBOARD APARTMENT IN NYC/BROOKLYN NOW
I actually think Jay-Z is letting Cole completly on his own. If he wasn’t Cole would have less self produced songs in my opinion.
@thatruth the day you try to validate your favorite artist by falsely comparing him to others is the day everybody see’s you lose all credibility. you just lost. youre so insecure that u cant even defend j.cole without mentioning other artists names. “please read this” wow. Over the last few months its been clear that a SCARY number of j.cole fans need other people’s validation to justify liking him artist. That’s sad as hell.
“Hatred is flattery, you bitch niggas is charming” I admit, I am a HUGE J cole stan. The single did grow on me, but I do agree it was the wrong choice, and songs like how high, in the morning, higher, blow up, even cost me alot would have been better. But if leaks like it wont be long, lost ones, cheer up are on the album, its safe to say the albums is going to be outstanding
Perfect title.
@CFrank well, that last statement you made is sadly how hip hop “fans” are with every popular artist nowadays… thats just how people are programmed now… cole is just trying to break away from hip hop a little bit, but not too much, to fit in with that mainstream/industry crowd
@Bob i wouldn’t make too much out of that… cole makes his own beats by choice and is something he takes pride in, something i don’t think he gets enough credit for… makes him an even more impressive artist imo.
j. cole killed his own buzz.
for a guy that wants to be like pac, he’s not even close.
dmx was the closest to do what pac did in music and movies.
to be pac is bigger than rap. and j. cole does not have that spark.
he’s too boring. no hate, but the guy is lacking that x-factor that all the greats had.
lmao @BLACK SNOW
that john starks comment is so wrong, but funny as hell.
I see you niggas!!!! Much love, Cole World.
Best rapper alive since 2pac retired
@ThaTruth have you heard the songs that leaked: Lost Ones, Cheer up, It Won’t Be Long. I trust Cole has a classic album waiting for us. I also expect Workout to be a bonus track and not even be apart of the main album.
Hate the album title, need something original and classic not a mixtape title.
Even Drake’s titles suck Thank Me Later, Take Care, How Are You Today??
Ya niggas is dumb cole never tried to be pac. He tried to become a rapper and wanted to blow up. Why dont ya stop hating and let him do his thing. You guysdont like him you are better off not even commenting on this and go listen to your artists and comment on their shit. Let this dude shine #coleworld
work out isnt as bad as every1 says n i heard it on the radio 3 times already< haters r just hatin now while they can cuz after ther album sells 150 k first week they cant
http://www.mediafire.com/?g5i21dr8chy9a62 CURRENSY – WEEKEND AT BURNIE’S
@CFrank I Think you misunderstood my how whole concept. I’m looking into more on the marketing aspects of hip hop period. I don’t need to compare J Cole to others rappers ,all I’m saying as a first single you want to leave a footprint for people to remember you by and thats goes for all artists. I remember Tupac said make songs for the ladies because they will buy your shit and the dudes gone like what the females like. If Cole use this strategy then it might be a win or a lost depending on how good the single. I feel like Cole need to just be himself because I think that what got him here in the first place. lately, I know he have alot pressure on him and everything is being forced.
If I remember correctly, Nicki Minaj’s first single flopped. It doesn’t have to be the lead single. Work out is pretty good imo. Also, that Black Snow guy is a freakin’ troll! Seriously kid, you probably have like 25 posts in this topic alone!
That first Cole single will do pretty okay, I’ve heard it a few times on the radio. Unlike Who Dat. Anyway, that Black Snow guy needs to GTFOH. Seriously, you have to have about 25 posts on this topic alone!
Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes! Fuck I can’t wait! Oh and to whoever said lost ones was 8/10 is of tha fuckin wagon with that. They obviously don’t listen deeply enough… That song hits home and draws tears to my eyes. To Whoever wanted a rapper that spits real and stays true to hip hop… Here you go cause there ain’t gunna be another one like him in a long long time so soak it up haters!
Man. Seems like everybody doubting Cole skills. The album coming soon. When its out take a listen then make yo opinion. I’m guessing its gone be close to unforgettable. I don’t see how people don’t like him. I mean he dope. I’ll put money that the album gone be a success.
I agree with Black Snow even though i’m not a hater I love j.cole. But all his music sound the same he needs to explore a lot more with the album if he wants it to be a classic. Having your album sound jus tliek friday night lights is a no no though some tracks from there stood out. such as love me not,too deep for the intro,enchanted, and home for the holidays which could make the album in my opinion because they are unique. He needs to realize this is 2011 you have to make your album different like how ye did with the fantasy album. hook up with bink or kanye or 9th wonder or pharrell or no id for beats or just blaze get that classic sound for your album i would be disappointed if cole world sounded like all his odl stuff. illmatic was different when it cam eout in 1994 paid in full was different when it cam eout low end theory was different shit food & liquor was different and blueprint and college dropout they were different.
Come on J. Cole i believe in you use this summer to get things straight. get with these producers and make a classic.
Cole is dope, but that album title is straight ASS
OK, so Paula Abdul took it to twitter to announce the title and release date for his album. I was expecting a press conference with fireworks display in the background. I guess with the embarrassment of the “work out” single, he wanted to divert the attention and have his fans believe last week never happened with the release of “work out”. I told yall niggaz that “work out” BS will crash and burn. it FAILED on the net, it FAILED on the radio and it will FAIL on his album. the failure with this guy comes in the matter of minutes. not even a music video can help that “work out” song sound dope. “cheer up” was leaked, and that isn’t even much of an improvement. his album won’t have any special guest rappers, because he will get out-shined by everyone on his own album. his label will be idiots if they even attempted in getting some guest rappers on it. that will be like throwing a goldfish in a fishtank filled with piranhas. one of the problems with Paula Abdul is, he doesn’t’ have the ability to compliment other rappers. just listen to all the songs he has had or been part of when it involved being a guest rapper, it just doesn’t work at all with Paula Abdul. I hate to even bring this shit up because I can’t stand that Flake nigga neither, but on the “in the mornin” cut Flake out-shined him on that shit. I’m not even going by lyrics, I’m going by style comparisons of both rappers. Paula Abdul’s delivery hasn’t improved at all throughout the last couple of years. his subject matter is childish like commentary with sprinkled fake street ministry. his stage presence is like watching the Rodney King tape in a room filled with cops. and for this nigga who hasn’t even dropped an album yet, he has gone through so many identity crisis. I remember when this nigga wouldn’t stop rhymin’ about student loans. the solo voice of the Sallie Mae era. he was marketed as this nerdy wanna-be backpack rapper with the everyday problems of a college kid. now he’s this social conscience grown simba aka matured lion on his dick steal ya ho mixtape veteran. yeah, yeah, yeah, I know, the album title and release date has been announced. four years of working on an album, numerous wack mixtapes, several failed singles and being an opening act to niggaz that signed label contracts after you have finally paid off. PAULA ABDUL YOU FAILED ALREADY!!!!!!!! PAULA ABDUL YOU PAPOOSED YOURSELF!!!!
It’s amazing how many ppl are calling bust on this album after The Warm Up and Friday Night Lights mixtapes…y’all think Cole is going to follow those up with some watered-down debut album? smh. And if y’all didn’t like The Warm Up or FNL, then I don’t really care what your opinion on hip hop is. And I don’t even know what to say to the clown who said Lost Ones is 8/10. Just don’t hop on the bandwagon after Cole drops an instant classic.
NYC/BROOKLYN you do realize no one is gonna read that long ass chapter you wrote right? When I read ‘Paula Abdul’ in the first line, I realized you are back on that angel dust again and stopped reading..
Niggas can chill with that Lost Ones shit…damn. I mean the track is dope, I agree. Good subject matter. But the shit ain’t no fuckin Brenda’s Got A Baby yo. Stop callin’ it a classic while it’s 1 month old. Nas got a shitload of those tracks. Stop with overratin’ the fuck outta that track smh. As for the album…Idk what to expect. If I was Cole I’d get Rihanna on a hook for the 1st single. He could easily blow up with a single like Run This Town which was hella dope or Empire State. J Cole stay pickin da wrong shit. Feel bad for the kid. He even said ‘Summers mine’ but the album droppin end of september and the Work Out shit is NOT gonna be a summer hit. FACT.
everybody who’s talking shit about j.coles album gone be in stores tryna find it when it drops so shut the fuk up hatin on my nigga.
Cole world got you haters sneezing!!!
LOST ONES IS NOT A CLASSIC.
CHEER UP IS NOT A CLASSIC.
COLE IS STRUGGLING. HE’S JUST ANOTHER MEMPHIS BLEEK.
BLEEK WAS SIGNED TO THE ROC, ON GREAT TOURS, HAD A ALBUM PUSH LIKE HE WAS MAJOR AND HE STILL FLOPPED. SOUND FAMILIAR?
OR HOW ABOUT YOUNG CHRIS? OR PEEDI CRAKK? NO HE MORE LIKE AMIL.
WHO WAS THE LAST RAPPER THAT JAY-Z MADE FAMOUS AND LASTED IN THE GAME?
Y’ALL JUST TOO CAUGHT UP IN EMOTIONS AND HYPE TO SEE THAT COLE IS NOT THAT POPULAR. WHEN THE MEDIOCRE SALES COME, THEN THE EXCUSE IS WELL COLE ISN’T A MAINSTREAM ARTIST OR THE MAINSTREAM DOESN’T RESPECT REAL MUSIC.
WHEN THE MEDIOCRE ALBUM COMES, THE EXCUSE WILL BE IT’S BETTER THAN LIL B, WACKA FLOCKA, SOULJA BOY…
BUT IS IT BETTER THAN KRIT, KENDRICK, FASHAWN, AND OTHER YOUNG LYRICAL SPITTERS.
TOO MANY EXCUSES FROM COLE FANS. AND TO THE ONES THAT SAY CHEER UP AND LOST ONES ARE CLASSICS… NO WAY.
HERE ARE A LIST OF THAT ARE BETTER FROM HIS PEERS:
BLU- WHOLE ALBUM OF BELOW THE HEAVENS
FASHAWN- FATHER, WHY, ECOLOGY
KRIT- DREAMIN, THE VENT, N.I.G.G.A.
KENDRICK- HIII POWER, RONALD REAGAN ERA
COLE’S TWO SONGS DO NOT EVEN COMPARE. ENOUGH SAID.
FOR PEOPLE WHO MAY SAY IM HATING. WELL, WHAT WOULD HIP-HOP BE WITH A BUNCH OF YES MANS… HOW ABOUT WHAT IT IS NOW, POP MUSIC WITH NO ROOM FOR CONSCIOUSNESS.
@Microphone
YOU DO KNOW COLE PRODUCED Hiii POWER RIGHT?
@simba
you do know that doesn’t matter, right?
people who say lost ones isnt a classic record are DELUSIONAL, and also u wanna say lost ones and cheer up and work out arent classic, THERES 15 songs on the album morons. even some of the most classic albums have a few songs that could go either way. even though it wont be long how high lost ones and cheer up can fit the tracklist mold perfectly
what a lot of y’all need to realize is that j. cole most likely didn’t choose workout to be his first single… someone on his label/team made that decision… also, cole said the majority of the album has been done for awhile now… and he clearly said it will be entirely produced by him and have no features, except for a jay-z feature possibly… @NYC/BROOKLYN cole wasn’t “marketed” as anything… he wasn’t even signed yet to be marketed… on his 1st mixtape the come up has rapped about school loans because he was fresh out of college… lol what you expect him to rap about, some made up bullshyt :/… and @SIMBA thats funny because if you didn’t know, cole produced hiii power
@microphone
Because a song about abortion isnt conscious??
@Zurchy_Zurchy
you missed MICROPHONE’s whole point. he’s saying that the there’s a lack of critical assessment when it comes to artist these days. lost ones is cool but it does not have a classic feel to it. cole is overhyped by his stans. the man spits some interesting stuff, but so do other rappers. and talking about abortion in the way he did is played out. he copied joe budden’s three sides to a story and pac’s brenda’s got a baby. cheer up is meh is my opinion.
Dude has talent but let’s not crown him as the second coming. He really has yet to find a definitive voice yet. He goes from one persona to the next, which is human nature. Right now he’s above average in a lot of different aspects but not excellent. I’m not judging the man but commenting on his art.
He’s not in the category of Blu or Lupe, so get that out of your head.
His production is ok, but others are taking it way farther.
He aint gonna be able to tell too many street tales, so he needs to find another route.
K.R.I.T. and Kendrick Lamar have the energy to ignite a crowd.
All in all, the guy is talented. Whether he becomes a great, is a different story.
9/27 Cole World! J. Cole great title I must say!
1. HATERS. If you dont like FNL or The Warm Up then you dont like Cole and you shouldn’t click play on nothing he does. This not even a song this a album title why did you click the jump?
2. FUTURE. I’m still growing up. I wasn’t there to witness Pac or really Nas and Budden, to be honest, I first heard about him til I start gettin into hip hop. So Lost Ones is something that they deep records was to yal. Its good that we got a Cole to give my generation a ‘Brenda’s got a Baby’.
3. FUCK COMPARISON. but if yal wanna go there. Its nobody that up in coming that will just smash him. He can still hang just like he hanged with Kanye (Looking for Trouble) Kendrick (Temptation) Wale (Beautiful Bliss) and the list goes on. Cole can hang with the big boys.
4. THE SINGLE. Man it wasn’t the best but on other sites and youtube, They loved it. Most people liked it than I expected.
5. WHATS THE PROBLEM? Is it that he’s overrated? Is it that he waited so long to drop an album? Yal don’t know wether if it was diffcult or not cause none of yal has been in that position. Overrated or not the guy got talent and each record shows you that. Even Work Out.
6. DOPE. From stoy telling to lyrics to style. Im buying the Cole World: The Sideline Story.
^you must not get out much.
lost ones is not this generation’s brenda’s got a baby. you do not speak for me.
j. cole is overrated. and people have the right to call him out on that.
everyone has a talent, so this whole talented argument is a wash. krit produces his own music and videos, but no one is calling him talented.
the single work out sucked, why do you care what other people say.
the album was overhyped by cole himself who first said it would not be called cole world. then, he said he had a perfect title, and a classic album.
if this jawn has 2-3 songs like work out… no way should it be a classic.
and how can something be a classic when it hasn’t stood the test of time? it’s not even september yet. get a grip.
@The day I fell in love with hip hop
You make some good points cause sometimes people forget that this generation of youngstas comin up did not grow up on Nas or Jayz or 2pac , so for them J cole is like a new experience for them musically. Sometimes I think about that also because when I hear a song that everybody likes but that doesnt really move me , its because ive already heard those type of songs on albums from the past. J cole is a good artists for the young generation to follow nowadays anyway cause my generation grew up on music that was sending the wrong message out most of the time. Good points made by – The day I fell in love…
@know it all
1. Hella ppl call K.R.I.T talented. How about you go check a K.R.I.T post.
2. Why do you care what I say. Don’t put your foot in your mouth.
3. You must apply to point number 1. HATERS that I made.
4. Never said it was gone be a classic. havent heard it yet. Get a grip.
@marty
Thankss.
@The day I fell in love with hip hop
1. i know krit is talented. what i am saying is that who cares? it’s about the music. if it’s good, play it. if not, toss it.
2. i care what you said, because you spoke for me and my generation.
3. haters is for people who are afraid to critically debate an issue or an artist. so if you want to assume that im a hater, go ahead. i call an artist out and you catch feelings like i slept with your mom.
4. never said you called it a classic. i said cole did. learn to read and stop playing semantics.
@marty
his points make no sense. brenda’s got a baby was original when pac came out. since then you have 100 million copycats. if you’re going to talk about abortion find a creative concept. his concept is not creative… the lyrics are not that classic to me. how many motherfuckers do i need to hear in a row to understand a hot button issue like abortion?
listen to pac’s brenda’s got a baby and tell me who did it better.
cole gets so much leeway. but if kendrick lamar or krit did work out… yall would be crucifying them.
clas·sic (klsk)
adj.
1.
a. Belonging to the highest rank or class.
b. Serving as the established model or standard: a classic example of colonial architecture.
c. Having lasting significance or worth; enduring.
Lost Ones is NOT classic. I’m a young cat myself and I can’t stand that niggas I know call it ”classic”. This track is maybe 3 weeks old. You can’t even call that shit a classic. C’mon son….wait 2 years and than look back and check if it still gettin’ plays. People too quick to lable shit a classic, STOP the overrating. And J.Cole is far from our 2Pac or Nas. The Things y’all say make no sense. I wasn’t into hip-hop the day Pac died but I’m older now and I like him and same goes for Nas. It makes no sense to say that they can’t serve our generation. Nas still making dope shit. If Lost Ones is ”classic” than ”Nasty” is CLASSIC too. Jus stop overrating.
when he first started sayn cole world on tracks, did son swear the album wouldn’t be called Cole World??
dont you guys get bored of arguing on here all day. youre all too stubborn to listen to eachother anyway.
Though I do agree that people use the term “classic” way too freely these days.
Cole is overrated but so what everyone over hypes someone there a fan of , even some of the ledgends are overrated. Rather see cole getting hype then alot of dudes that are signed.
