Mood Muzik 4/4.5 can easily be considered a classic album, even though technically it’s a mixtape. I’ll put that up against almost every album released so far this year, including Bad Meets Evil.
Canibus has no classic albums but his impact on the culture as marked by his battle with LL cool J , 2nd round knock out was the biggest battle rap of that year. Im not the biggest Canibus fan but lyrically hes way ahead of his time.

Thats interesting , I dont know if that counts has something impactful to the culture or not. I think Joe will only be remembered by Jump Off and getting punched in the face and thats about it. All his other music is only for a select group of hip hop heads who enjoy the sounds of Joes depression.

hopefully it won’t take him being gone to for the masses to realize how great he was — this shady deal may or may not push his name up as one of the top rappers — yea he’s made mistakes, but that’s what makes his fan base so loyal and diverse – we relate to him – he’s human, as opposed to many rappers who feel they are larger than life
@marty mcfly you honestly don’t know what the hell your talking about… Cannabitch’s career ended after he took a shot at eminem… He’s not good all he is, is a Internet rapper that puts a whole bunch of big words together and they don’t make sense… Joey is one of the best lyrical rappers out… Canibus shouldnt be mentioned with Budden…
Joe is good at making one style of hip hop – dark sounding , 5 minute long run on sentences about how his life is so hard. Thats cool but hip hop has other chambers and Joey is afraid to change his approach to making music. List all of your favorite Joe songs and chances are they have the same vibe and lyrical pattern. You can say canibus sucks but when you say his name you instantly recall his style that sets him apart from everybody else. I can name rappers that speak on the same shit Joe does but ill be hard pressed to find a rapper who has subject matter like Channel Zero. Canibus aint top 5 or even top 10 but his lane in hip hop is his own. Joey is like a black Atmosphere ( Slug ) only with far less skills.
Alright I give you that… But Joey makes songs people wanna hear… Rephrase that real hip hop/rap… Lil Wayne and Drake don’t make songs compared to Joey sure they get more money cause mainstream shit… Thats why eminem isnt about all that he makes real music he doesn’t get played on the radio he’s too lyrical… That’s what rap needs… But he makes real music… That’s what raps about… Canibus isn’t better then Joey… That’s why people don’t like Joey? Cause he makes songs for people that are depressed or going through stuff? When Em dropped sing for the moment that was a big hit… But on a real note canibus hasn’t dropped anything good since his beef with LL cool J which wasnt even all that… It was no real beef between good rappers…
If Joey made other albums like he did when he first came in the game , which had a balance of dark and lighter music his impact would have been stronger but when you use the same musical style over and over its like damn Joe stop crying cause its people with real problems out here. You been rich and famous for almost a decade and you still complaining about life. Go to the fucking hood for once then go make a song that makes people feel good sometimes.
I’d rather listen to Joey put the truth out and his depression shit… Than listen to Wayne rap about smoking weed and going to mars… Or drake trying to sing or make these wack ass love songs…
