Kanye West – Mamas Boyfriend [Update]

Yeezy’s long-awaited version of this track he freestyled at the Facebook HQ has surfaced. SHAKE UPDATE: Seems as if some douche bag got their hands on the a capella and placed it on top of their own production. Smh, Kanye statement below.

The version of the Kanye West recording “Mama’s Boy” that arrived on blog sites earlier this week is entirely bogus and unsanctioned, and violates the artist’s creative intentions. As is often the unfortunate case, an unknown party or parties got a hold of Kanye West’s vocal track and added their own soundbed to it, effectively and falsely releasing it as a Kanye West track from the My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy sessions. The result in no way resembles the final song Kanye West intended his fans to hear, and he is deeply disappointed that one of the most personal, meaningful and special songs he has ever written would reach people in this way. Needless to say, measures are being taken to identify and prosecute the persons responsible for leaking this material.

  3. ^^^Probably Q-Tip, he tweeted out that there was two versions of the song, one with Q-Tip on the beat and one with Soulja Boy on the beat.

  4. You can download here http://dropthatjoint.wordpress.com/2011/06/13/kanye-west-mamas-boyfriend/

    Instant-Classic !!!

    Kanye West >>>>>>>>

  10. We can all die in peace now !!!

    Instant-Classic !!!

    Kanye West >>>>>>>>

  11. LikeCentury&Crenshaw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jySMgw5UuoA

  12. classic. Thats all

  13. I can see why he didn’t release this, it’s pretty lame. It would have been better if it was recorded with the same emotion he showed at the fb headquarters, and the production kind of sucks.

  14. I dont usually pay much attention to the ratings because unlike a lot of people on this site I can listen to the song and form my own opinion but how can even 4 people give this a thumbs down??

  15. the beat is raw. but something is wrong here. his rhymes sound a little off beat….? hmmm

  16. Classic?……LMAO shit is average is basic if Wayne would have released this it would have 100 thumbs down but because its Ye its classic…I see why he didn’t release it sounds like something he did just to do it to get off his chest…besides production sucks also

  17. wow. 2day is just too good to be true

  18. Another Kanye classic. Reminds me of Devil in a New Dress production. Any word on who the producer is?

  19. Sounds like someone copy and pasted his lyrics in there cause its off beat and beat sounds like some soundclick ish

  20. @Pesty Pete classic is classic

  21. I thought Primo produced this….???

  22. Wayne aint never come from this perspective before. People can diss the song all they want but your favorite rappers aint speaking on shit like this and even when they try to their delivery is wack. Kanye been saying alot of real shit for years

  23. oh really well waynes nightmares of the bottom and anne go 100000 times harder than this ish

  24. I thought so too Dave Chappelle

  25. dope music. yeezy and preemo is a cant miss.

  26. @Pesty Pete yuh ain’t ordinary bruh

  27. does anyone else notice a face in the background???

  28. enjoy this,, but prefer that live stripped down version. thanks for this though miss p.

  29. This is the pre-808s era Kanye. This is what we want. Fuck 808s, fuck MDTF Kanye. We want that College Dropout. That Late Registration. The new Kanye shit is horrible.

  30. really nice

  31. @Pesty Pete , this song aint even meant to go hard and since every body keeps talking about this Wayne song Nightmares from the bottom , tell me what is that song about? Chances are its just alot of words that really dont connect to a topic or theme but just play off each other well. Those songs are ok but wont have longevity.

  32. Maybe you do Meli but don’t say we. Don’t include me nyukka. I like progression and evolution in sound. 808s was…alright but MBDTF was dope. conservative hater.

  33. i really dont know what u see in this. something just dosent sit right for me with this song. he seems off beat or some shit. idk just not right might be the mastering idk. its just not right

  34. *shrug*

  35. And into the MBDTF playlist you go!

  36. New J. Cole just dropped to add to this day of dopeness. Maaaan. We need more days like this.

  37. Ummm…marty, if you listen to the lyrics of that song, it’s talking about being afraid of hitting rock bottom or something along those lines. Not that I like the song, but that is what its most likely about.

Anyways, this is some cool shit. I mean, lyrically Ye isn’t much nowadays…but this is just too deep to ignore. (In my honest opinion, MBDTF was a good album but I wouldn’t PERSONALLY call it a classic like some are)

  38. No it aint Pauly , Nightmares of the bottom is not about nightmares of the bottom. It just sounds convincing because of the first line and I know people didnt listen to the lyrics on Kanyes last album cause the beats were so different but one day they will.

  39. Im not saying they were the best lyrics but some of the shit he says is undeniably impressive.

  40. I listened to the lyrics on AOTL and they were garbage. Catchy, but garbage.

“I’m looking in my rear view, I see the world in it
I try to slow down, and I get rear ended
Pause! Like a red light, I’m dead right!
Highway to Heaven, God do you see my headlights?
They say “you don’t know what you’re doing till you stop doing it”
Well call me clueless cause I do this
Attention all shooters, I’m a shooting star
Life is a course and I’mma shoot for Par
I’m searching for today instead I found tomorrow
And I put that shit right back like I’ll see what I find tomorrow”

It’s not insanely lyrical, but you have to admit its the deepest thing from Dwayne that we’ve heard in a while.

  41. @Pauly , yeah those lyrics are good but im just pointing out the difference between those and Kanyes on this particular song. Wayne pulls that trick alot and it sounds real good to people whos first choice in music isnt hip hop.

  42. this beat doesn’t sound good, maybe its the sample used.. it makes this song too uppity, whens he’s talking about some gloomy shit.

  43. I can see why this was left off MBDTF. The tone and beat sound too happy for the song’s lyrics. Expected more voice inflection with the delivery and a darker beat. Still dope though.

  44. Say what you want about the boy but this is the genius that IS Mr. West

  45. Ok. this is unfinished and is still fire. so. Enough said?

  46. jcole lost ones.

    http://limelinx.com/files/0c319a8ead4d8a10d8948a65d887a467

  47. this made my night!!! yeezy gonna perfect this for the next album watch!!

  48. Ehhhhh…subject matter corny but I can see where he was tryna go with it..

  49. this is that kanye i used to like

  50. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWvAwkKgGiA

  51. Dude, I actually used to respect a lot of the opinions on here…but I been a Kanye fan since college dropout and had to give this a thumbs down. The beat doesn’t match his lyrics…WAY to uppity of a beat. Would’ve stuck out like a sore thumb on MBDTF

I was geeked when I thought it was the CDQ with this beat(http://youtu.be/zxaV4QFYFXU), and you can tell it fits perfect from just the piano

  52. I been waiting so long for this to drop. props.

  53. dope song.

j cole lost ones is ridiculous. fuck the being upset it leaked, a lot of people are happy to have heard it, you should feel blessed that people are enjoying your music, not wanting to hold on to it for your own selfish reasons (profit). it’s an amazing song that a million people can relate to. trying to block it / shut it down is silly. sure it was leaked, accept it, be happy that people LOVE it, and release your damn album.
“and I aint to proud to admit I cry sometimes, I cry sometimes about it”

  54. im givin this an ehhhhh becasue it was obviously stole out the studio or an intercepted email. its OBVIOUSLY not finished and OBVIOUSLY kanye was gonna redo the vocals..and maby even the beat. so not judgement here.

  55. GOAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  56. Guess this is unfinished, his delivery does lack the spirit of the live version he did with John Legend on piano…still nice though

  57. And when he hits a creative wall, as he does this evening, he heads to another studio room to make progress on another song. In this case, it’s upstairs to check in on Q-Tip, who is syncing a beat he’d made to an acappella Kanye laid for a song called “My Momma’s Boyfriend.” Kanye had spit it to a Madlib beat, but didn’t feel like it was the right fit, so Tip is fitting a new track around the words. At first, Kanye is engaged, offering copious feedback, but as the record plays over and over, Tip tweaking small parts, Kanye starts to zone out. At first this means he just nods and stares without talking— processing, but too tired to speak. Eventually, the weight in his eyelids overcomes him and he nods off. It’s only 11 p.m., which means that we can expect a rested and ready Kanye by 2 a.m. at the latest. Tip keeps banging on the MPC for his sleeping audience while the rest of us decide whether to crash out at the hotel or wait on the next burst of creativity.

  58. this shit is not finished at all…shit is not mastered. That beat sounds way too busy like this. This is def a intercepted ”leak”. Big Sean album really leaked doe, I’m bumpin’ it now. Shits fire.

  59. amazing

  60. I imagined this beat going a little different, but hey it’s still dope !

  61. This song is great. I was expecting a darker type of beat though, judging by the way he performed the song on video. Oh well applaud this man for this quality music.

  62. this song is dope

  63. Anyone know the sample in this?

  64. Are there any female rappers like this?

  65. This is great!

  66. Am I the only one that liked the acapella more? The beat is sick don’t get me wrong, I just think it’s wrong for this joint. I don’t feel any emotion. I want to feel this shit and yet I’m still just listening to it.

  67. kanye west is a genius

  68. Late Registration production on a Graduation beat.

  69. Sorry, this is superb. Hot beat and the lyrics are actually really funny, too. Superb.

  70. i loved the acapella he did like last year at like the facebook office, had so much more feeling

  71. damn for reals? this is fuckin amazing, sample on vocals is ILLLL

  72. this if fucking fake.

  73. kanye has to release the official versions now…unless this one’s better. in which case he should’ve kept his mouth shut and let it fly.

with that said, WHO EVER DID MAKE THIS BEAT IS ILL, AND WE SHOULD DO SOME WORK.
HIT ME UP @CUZIMSTZ OR CUZIMDOPE.COM

  74. thank god, i know all you guys ^^^^^ loved it but i was sure that wasnt dj premier, it kinda sucked.

  75. Beat was (2)dope, bet Kanye’s wasn’t as good…

  76. First, I don’t really get why someone would leak this with their production if they’re not going to have their name on it but whatever. They might have gotten paid for the leak. Second, what I’m really fascinated by are the “measures” that are being taken. So Def Jam’s hired a private detective to track down the leak? If they’re really serious they should catch whoever it is and publicaly name him. They only thing that might finally stop leaks are people knowing that they’ll be caught, outed and their career destroyed.

  77. props to the unknown producer.. the song was clearly unfinished.. this was prob better then w.e kanye had i was severely disappointed by Chain Heavy.. like Wow disappointed, it was supposed to feature santigold too that woulda been raw

  78. leave it to Shake to defend his lord Kanye`s ass, stfu nigga

  79. Loved that track…still do, but whenever I hear it now it’s just tainted. Beat was dope, but I can see why Ye’s so pissed off. Those were some of his most personal raps to date, now some lame hiding behind his laptop is too is getting off to this.

  80. thought so…

  81. but u kno this is also something that is sed when artists catch alot of negative flack…either way …

  82. kanye is such a fucking whiny bitch

  83. Whew, I mean I’m glad someone didn’t get hold of a Kanye beat and try to rap over it pretending to be Kanye. :P

  84. FUCCCCC DIS IMPOSTER ASS BAFFOON ON EVERYTHING.

  85. i knew it sounded off. verse to track.

  86. Just come out with the fuckn record then if someone stole it. Your Kanye, prolly one of the best to do it…why ya buggn?

Don’t address shit…Jus drop that shit and tell that kid who stole ya shit, to take ya dick out his mouth and catch up.

  87. @dunk Yeah it sounded off to me too.

  88. I still love the beat the unnamed producer made.
    Shit is hot imo

  89. the beat that dropped made the song.. kanye should thank them!

  90. ^co-sign

  91. I know who stole the acapella and put the shit beat on the track. It was that salty nigga CONSEQUENCE

  92. it’s gotta be better than the real thing, best kanye track in a long long time

  93. kanye should realize that this wouldn’t have happened if he just released the damn song himself in the first place

  94. The funny thing is: this track was temporarily posted on his G.O.O.D. Music Blog for a day or two, when it dropped. So, everybody, including his team, thought that it was official. I hope that the new beat is fire though, cause the original wasn’t that bad to begin with. Just a little off pace in a couple of spots with his delivery.

  95. this makes sense. the instrumental was badly out of sync with the acapella

  96. @G.O.O.D. Music fan
The G.O.O.D. Music Blog isn’t official it’s a fan blog.

  97. @ dj lanky white “kanye should realize that this wouldn’t have happened if he just released the damn song himself in the first place”

wow you’re a fucking piece of shit. what pathetic statement. Its kanye’s work … you are not entitled to hearing anything he chooses not to release. YOU need to realize THAT. He doesnt fucking owe you anything. you’re a fucking leech… acting like just because you have a fucking internet connection that music is owed to you. shut the fuck up .

  98. @ Henz – Oh, well that explains it then. Thanks.

  99. How about release music when you are rapping verses of it for a long time or talking about releasing it. Fuck, that’s why rap music is the only shit that gets leaked. Rappers talk in interviews and on blogs and twitter and shit if you finish your shit RELEASE IT ( no Jay Elec) Lets fucking go. Can you trust anybody in your camp? No. So if you don’t drop it somebody will.

  100. Lmao @yeezytaughtme had to be consequence.

  101. smh sucked anyway ha

  102. shutdafuckup dummie nobody makes beat better than Kanye. -Dr. Jizvel “Genius” Johnson

  103. maybe he shoulda put it on that poor excuse for an album. real talk. aint no real niggas think that gay shit classic.

  104. you are all retarded! every single one of you that seemed tho thing this song was anywhere near sub par quality! the fake version was aweful and im glad its actually a fake it restors mr. west’s credebility to an extent. lol at all the fuckers feeling stupid for liking the song in the first place? oh wait u didnt really listen to it u just saw the title and rest of the commnets and decided it must be good

  105. YALL OLD FLIP FLOP ASS NO BACK BONE ASS NIGGAS!! Yall know good and well the first time you heard that track you were feelin it, and now they said kanye didn’t make it, you gettin on the I told you so bullshit. Granted it sucks his song got leaked and somebody played it off like they were him, but Kanye or not, that production was crazy, and who ever did it shouldn’t end up gettin prosecuted.

  106. whoever did produced that is pretty good

  107. The Production Might Not Have Been Q-Tip’s But It Was Still Sick

  108. shit let me get that beat then. whos the producer?

  109. I knew it was the wrong production cuz he samples Movin Out (Anthony’s Song) by Billy Joel

  110. I knew it was the wrong production cuz he samples Movin Out (Anthony’s Song) by Billy Joel and i didnt hear it anywhere in this beat…
