Really good, but the beat is not as good as it could be. I wish he would have a better, more lo-fi sound than this. I get what they’re doing with the beat, but it doesn’t work out or sound good for Nas’ general style. All these years later Nas still doesn’t get why those Illmatic beats worked so well for him? Hopefully this isn’t final.
As for lyrics, even Illmatic and pretty much any other great rap album has had lyrics similar to this as well as deep, conscious, metaphorical type stuff. Nas has always had more than waving guns at nuns and this is no different. Like Rakim, his flow stays emerged in the fountain of youth.

Nas in my opinion is top 5 of all time but I wouldnt say the greatest and its not even because of Jay. Its because to me his first 3 albums sound like the Nas I grew up on but the albums after that at some points sounds like a different person to me. Yes he made some dope shit in his later years but to me alot of songs on Stillmatic and Godson doesnt really sound believable to me. It sounds like he just forced out the material for those albums. Just my opinion , Hes one of the greats but alot of yall say everything is the greatest soon as you hear something new. There are songs from all his albums that I like but songs like Get Down just dont sound real to me.

In all honesty I can understand why fans say that and I feel the same. I don’t want him to make the same shit over and over again because progression is a beautiful thing BUT if you set the bar that high I believe if you done it in the first place you can meet it again or raise regardless of whatever shit you’re making. I think that’s the point most fans are getting at.
Anyway this song is fucking tight. It feels like a better version of Made Ya Look.
