Can I prove millions already label this album a classic? No but will people probably act like its a classic before and after they hear it? Probably so because judging by how these two have been influencing Hip hop for years its easy for me to assume the same will continue from them. Classic means – judged over a period of time as a outstanding work of art. Well I believe ten years after it comes out some kid is gonna find out about Jayz and Kanye and then realize they did a album together and its gonna still sound good. Do other people try to create the same sound as Jay and Kanye? YES are they ever successful? NO , why because they deliver great work just look at their history. IT Was All Good Just A Week Ago to BP1 to Meet The Parents and Balled for A Fallen Soldier on BP2 to his perspectives on songs from Kindom Come all the way up to the I KNOW Video with Zoe Kravitz from American Gangster has all been artistically and lyrically incredible. I think Jay Elec will have serious impact on the game because hes gonna up the bar of lyricism to a whole new level. I think Jay Elect is all the greatness of being lyrical put together in one style BUT I dont know if the fans will appreciate or support him. Hip hop fans have a history of only supporting what is flashy and what has millions of marketing dollars put on it. Jay Elec doesnt represent those things and Just like the true hip hop heads let Lupe down I think that mite be the case with Jay Electronica. I hope im wrong but to be honest , a artist like him needs a whole new format of promotion thats up to date with the current state of hip hop. I’m looking for a distinctive record from these two. I would like to see the Reasonable Doubt/College Dropout rhyme styles on this record. I was not truly a fan of H.A.M but mainstream sells records. If these two can create the sound purists desire then it’ll do well for mainstream and the streets, Only time will tell.
As far as Jay’s status on running the game, I feel his influence has crafted alot of followers that want to win in this game. Has his career been flawless NO. Keep it real Blueprint 2, Kingdom Come and Unfinished Business were not great records but still sounded 90% of what was out there at the time. Blueprint 3 was exciting as such due to D.O.A’s impact, but also Records Like Thank You, A Star Is Born and What We Talking Bout put Jay in a light that says he can create records with Substance.
I’m not really liking the arrivals of electronica and cole being put on hold. J cole is coming out with all of these songs but no real official street date for his record, and ever since The Ghost Of Christopher Wallace I haven’t heard much from Electronica. So I ask when will your artists get there shine because the streets are hungry. Bleek needs to stop making EPIC FAIL records, (STAY A HYPE MAN).
Finally as it relates to Young Money, MMG and whoever else is buzzing, I respect all for what there are doing. I respect Drake to the fullest (Seriously anyone who gets a co-sign from Phonte is worth checking for), Not the biggest Nicki fan but she’s appealing to the masses and whatever she is doing I guess its working cause her name is everywhere (even after the Lil Kim Beef). Wale has always been a favorite of mine so I am looking forward to his project (THE MC IS A BANGING ASS RECORD).
Jay is a pioneer, student and historian of the game and his contributions no one can deny.
