Im feeling Diva not only because shes fine as fuck but because she gives me the impression that she is a genuine person and shes doing this because she wants to please her artistic side. Only to make herself happy and that to me is a true artist. Somebody who doesnt mind putting music out or being on stage but really doesnt give a fuck if you like her or not.

That is a fair point. I just read her art in the exact opposite way. I don’t agree an artists job is to only make themselves happy. That’s just selfish. You should never be fake I agree, but you have to respect the audience. You don’t have to cater to them but you have to respect them and keep them in mind. The whole “I don’t care what people think” is just childish. If you don’t care what people think then being an artist may not be for you. Otherwise it’s just an exercise in artistic self masturbation, and an excuse for mostly shitty art. Granted there are folks who are super talented, don’t care and get away with it, but I think that’s why we all respect them so much and why they are few and far in between. But that’s a different and very relevant argument. Agree to disagree but I respect your point.

I just sound old and I do run on sentences, grammatical, and other mistakes so I’ll get off your back. But you make me look like Faulkner for the Christ’s sake. I’m just saying.
I mentioned Mos Def because he is a multitalented artist that excels at the arts he attempts in juxtaposition to Amanda Divas’s attempts at emceeing, acting, and comedy skits which have not been closely as consistent. I also mentioned the word “truther” because he said on Bill Maher that he has questions on who exactly attacked us on 9-11 and that he thought President Bush was in on it. I find that sort of thing disgusting. I’m a huge democrat and no fan of President Bush but that type of talk is ridiculous. The Saudi connection that his family has had for years and the preferential treatment that he gave the Saudis and the oil companies before and after 9-11 are interesting, but not a straight line to the destruction that ends with 9-11. There is a Frontline episode that does a better job of explaining it, check PBS for it. But I do not want to get into that. This is not the forum.
“Art is art.” What does that even mean? If you want to sit at home and draw moons more power to you, but don’t hang it up for the world and expect a nice reception. If your goal is to make yourself happy by all means go for it! Paint all day! But if it is lame don’t expect people to tell you it’s good. We’re not children that need a pat on the head because we drew an orange. Anyone can throw paint at a canvas and make “art” it just might be bad in the opinion of a great majority of people. Once again though I completely agree that if it makes you happy do it. But it may suck, you may be proud of it, and it may be good for you, but it may not stack up against other artists who spend a life working on a craft or crafts. Indeed draw your own oranges, be true to yourself and original. But if art is art, then good is good and bad is bad as well. EASYYY draw to your heart content and I hope it makes happy as a person can be.
This has become something other than what I was intending. I now feel bad for shitting on Amanda Diva. Next time I will just say no thanks, nothing, or be more constructive. She just personally sticks in my craw, and that is not taking a piece of art for itself but using my impressions of the artist as a template for my judgement said art. I still disagree and have contempt for Mos Def but I loved and bought his last album. Fuck it.

If your a artists and your really gonna be true to the things you like that means not everybody is gonna like you because you got popular and public opinion and then you got your own personal opinion. I think Amanda is good for hip hop cause she has spirit and she comes across as real. Is she the best singer? No but she does have something interesting going on in her voice when she raps and sings. What it is is shes trying to please her own artistic sides and she is being real to herself. Lets say im a painter but im not the best painter , does that mean I should not show my art? No because I dont need you to like my art , I need you to understand my message. I can listen to a artist that needs to work on their craft more but at least they being real. What I dont like is a artist thats not that good at they shit and they not even real. Amanda aint trying to be someone else in her music or a super hero version of herself. She is really being who she is and thats what makes me wish she was on a mainstream level because she comes across as real person.
