Skateboard P – well-known for his fashion sensibilities – sat down on MSNBC’s Morning Joe with the founder of Return Textiles (of which Pharrell is an investor in and product ambassador of) Tyson Toussant to speak on the relatively new environmentally friendly textile, Bionic Yarn, and its potential to change the way we view fashion and beyond.

  1. I don’t get it. The shirts are still made from petroleum and a PET yarn. Recycled fabrics are of a lesser quality and they break down much easier. Now you have PET that’s degrading on your skin so when you sweat your body is taking in the PET.
    It may seem friendly because the fabrics are ‘recycled’ but PET is still being released from the clothes into your skin and into the air.

  2. @red the purpose is to not make more, they reuse it instead of just throwing it away and making more

  3. Yea and then it’s thrown away after you use it. Since it’s made out of degraded materials and a combination of materials it can’t be safely or efficiently recycled again.
    It’s a step in the right direction but nothing special.
