look, im a huge blu fan, since below the heavens (as alot of you are), but this is just too far left field for me man….he’s on that “mos def, let me follow up my critically acclaimed debut with some off the wall weird as shit” nonsense right now…..i quit if he starts singing lol….and NO im not asking for another below the heavens, and i understand artist evolve, but im just not feeling this production.

I’m a HUGE fan of Blu and this is pretty bad. Call me a “hater” if you want. I don’t care. The tracks I’ve heard from No York have been terrible. And I saw Blu live a few weeks ago and it was easily one of the worst shows I’ve ever seen. This is so disappointing. I had such high hopes for him. I just don’t understand what the hell he’s doing. I mean, I get the sound he’s going for…but his execution is piss poor.

i have TRIED to like the songs but some on if some new no name artists tryed this shit all you “fans” of this stuff would throw him off a bridge, but just cause it’s blu and you like the music he did way back in 2007 your gonna try to say you like this shit and that its “creative”…. well it might be creative but that doesnt take away from the fact that its shit music.
For me, Blu’s new stuff just doesn’t cut it. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been a huge Blu fan for the longest time, and I’ve always appreciated the fact that he’s such a unique rapper which is good to see especially these days. I also respect Blu for trying to create something unique that follows on the more electronic hip/hop genre that’s becoming more and more popular. I just don’t think Blu has hit it spot on, at least in my opinion. Never-the-less, I am looking forward to NoYork and I’m especially looking forward to his upcoming album with the return of Exile!
i’m going to buy multiple copies of NoYork… Blu’s music has had the biggest impact in my life, and i really can’t say that about many other artists… dude spits straight heat… yet real shit

I don’t think everyone that doesn’t like it is a ‘hater’, but there has been a lot of hating on Blu lately. I haven’t heard many tracks from it to be honest, and this reminds me more of Common following up ‘Like Water For Chocolate’ (arguably his breakthrough album) with ‘Electric Circus’ than Mos Def. Some artists just want a change, I respect that. We’ve all come to love Blu for his stuff with Exile, mostly over sampled beats. But let the man experiment, he’s the one that’s putting the time into making these songs.
Looking forward to it dropping.
Totally agree with PJS192 but Common did follow ‘Electric Circus’ up with ‘Be’, which is arguably his best album. So who knows? That could be the same with Blu.
Blu is a crab. His live shows are lame, no energy, no passion, no connection to the crowd. And being a no-show in NY? No excuses for that, after seeing J*DaVeY perform then watching the energy leave the room when he gets on stage, just sad. I had respect, but its pretty much gone now.
I remember assholes shittin on ‘Paul’s Boutique’ when it dropped. I remember telling them that it was dope. Now I’ve gotta hear them wax on about how it’s in their all time top ten.
