The second #MonsterMonday track turnt regional single. You would swear this was the NYC equivalent of “California Love” the amount they play this track… it’s not. Nor will it ever be.
This Sound Like They Made This Beat On “My First Piano”. Hella Weak But Kiss And Joell Killed Their Verses. Everybody Else Can Sit That Ass Down. PRONTO.
Leave the classic alone. I agree wholeheartedly with Meka.
It’s one thing to sample the track, it’s another to sing the same chorus while replacing “California” with “New York City”. What’s worse is… it’s a track that will be forgotten in a month, so it’s a lame track to attempt a resurrection of sorts.
i weep for newyork..
this track is actually okay..only problem is u cant have an anthem for ur city ..by using someone elses anthem for their city especially when it came out la n ny had so called beef..it just dont fit..jay n alicia made a real anthem..this was just misguided. y didnt some 1 question swizzy in the studio?
Wow, this shit makes NY looks desperate LOL…The song is cool and all but come on, same sample and same hook? Come on NY, you could do better than this.
Song sucks….But videos o.k…nice to see n.y rappers playing nice with each other (Pause)…But on the real if i want to hear a n.y. anthem…I’ll listen to new york state of mind by NAS or Billy Joel or jigga…That’s it..Fuck this bitting ass shit!! Jada had the best verse.
what none of you faggots seem to realize is that the original is a straight jack of roger troutman, so it wasn’t really dre’s to begin with. yall are soooo lame and you know nothing about music or hip-hop.
Lame. Not because of the MCs or because it’s about NYC but because they used this beat. Nobody will ever be able to top the original. I agree with Ryu: this makes NYC look desperate. Play the original side by side with this and tell me with a straight face that this comes close.
it was ok, not that bad…but I’m from North Carolina what do I know…just seems like a fun track, nobody expects it to be a platinum single … http://www.ablacktv.com is my blog, check it out and follow me @ablacktv I’ll follow back
geezus, these punches needs to STOP, and Swizz should get a lifetime ban from any microphone..
Fickle fans hating on Ja Rule, but I’ll tell you this much, any Ja Rule single is better than 98% of mainstream singles coming out today.
No hate though, I see good things happening atm, so I truly believe it will change for the better.
In the meanwhile, I’ll be bumping ‘New York’ and the new CunninLynguists album.

“It’s one thing to sample the track, it’s another to sing the same chorus while replacing “California” with “New York City”.” J
Co-sign, change the chorus, like: [with Fatman Scoop]
“I’m from NYC, NYC… hey hey hey hey,
New York City, New York City… ohh ohh”
but well Jadakiss > Joell Ortiz > Maino > Swizz Beatz > Jim Jones
